#OccupyDC Cooks Need Propane to Function

By: Ryan Cook Monday October 17, 2011 3:12 pm

We want to help Calvin and #OccupyDC out by helping them purchase propane to cook with. If you’d like to help us, you can chip in $10 to buy fuel for the propane grills at #OccupyDC. We will be using the money we take in from our coverage fund to purchase propane and other supplies, so that is why we are asking people to donate there.

Feingold’s LRA Reaction

By: David Dayen Monday October 17, 2011 12:40 pm

Russ Feingold, author of the Lord’s Resistance Army Disarmament and Northern Uganda Relief Act of 2009, has responded to the news that President Obama sent 100 combat-equipped troops to Uganda last week. I said I would follow up on that, so here it is.

One Month Later, Occupy Wall Street Is a Force That Governments Cannot Suppress

By: Kevin Gosztola Monday October 17, 2011 12:01 pm

It began as a moment with only a few hundred US citizens demonstrating as close as they could get to Wall Street. This Is What Children Will Learn About Gay History

By: Alvin McEwen Monday October 17, 2011 11:30 am

This is LGBT History Month. How very appropriate that some folks in California who tried to stop the teaching of gay history failed miserably in their attempt. Don’t let them or anyone talking about children “being indoctrinated to accept a lifestyle” fool you with their phony talking points. The clip below – courtesy of The Legacy Walk – gives a true picture of what children will be learning about contributions of the gay community.

Throughout 2008, Herman Cain Repeatedly Mocked the Idea the Economy Was in a Recession

By: Blue Texan Monday October 17, 2011 10:30 am

Before he was the GOP’s 2012 frontrunner, Herman Cain wrote a weekly, syndicated opinion column. By: David Dayen Monday October 17, 2011 10:00 am

Over the weekend, as Occupy Wall Street protests escalated, the video of a woman arrested at a Citibank branch for trying to close her account shot through the blogosphere. It wasn’t even the only example of people being denied the opportunity to close their bank accounts over the weekend. And a similar incident occurred two months ago.

On Joseph Kony, War Powers and Liberal Interventionism

By: David Dayen Monday October 17, 2011 9:15 am

I have become the exemplar of Obama Derangement Syndrome with a Friday post about the White House starting a mini-war in Africa. It was front-paged on Saturday and caused a bit of debate. So let me make some additional remarks.
