Yesterday, I was finally able to participate in an OWS event, for even my sleepy little hollow, in the middle of nowhere, made some noise! Now, to be fair, Occupy Hilo has already made some noise in solidarity of OWS, but sadly, I was stuck on top of Mauna Kea stargazing during their previous events…!

Tonight, Jane Hamsher, Matt McKinnon of the machinists union and I will be attending the first committee meeting on Winterizing in Washington, DC. It’s starting to get colder in DC, and may of the occupiers will need warmer geer. We’ll try to find out their priorities.

There have been only a few Democrats expressing concerns about the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, despite lots of concerns raised about the State Department’s handling of the environmental review. But now it’s possible State may delay the decision to give it more time to review public comments.

Paul Ryan was asked about a CBO report showing that the top 1% managed to cope a whopping income raise over the last few decades. He worried that people might misuse the report to stop limit mobility and turn all of you into lazy hammock dwelling sponges. Huh.

Mitt Romney, recognizing that he stepped in it by refusing to endorse an anti-union ballot measure in Ohio while standing in the Republican Party HQ, where they were phone banking on that ballot measure, reversed course today, and desperately tried to associate himself with the initiative, which is doomed to go down to defeat in two weeks time.
