Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said Sunday that saving the jobs of police and firefighters was not the role of the federal government.
“Not my job”
But what is Mitch’s job?
This Wednesday:
Earlier this week, the Big 12 conference appeared ready to admit West Virginia into the league—a move so certain that university officials began tipping off members of their current conference, the Big East. But on Tuesday, the Big 12 abruptly backed off its overtures to the Mountaineers, leaving school officials in limbo and wondering what had happened.
On Wednesday, West Virginia received a key clue. The New York Times’ Pete Thamel reported that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell had lobbied officials at two Big 12 schools on behalf of his alma mater, the University of Louisville, which also is vying for a spot in the conference.
Remember jobless persons, Louisville playing Kansas State, it’s what makes Mitch McConnell’s unique vision of America great.

About Firedoglake
Student athletes have non-paying jobs as NBA interns. Sounds like a very Republican vision to me.
Throwing his weight around (have you ever picked up a large tortoise?) is just a perk for McConnell. His real job is to block Obama’s feeble attempts to improve the economy and insure his defeat at the polls. F**king the American people over in the process is just an added bonus.
Everything people like McConell touches turns into a shit pit. College sports is corrupt enough as it is without the likes of McConnell meddling in. (And I love college sports, going to the Big House tomorrow.)
Ms. McConnell has said over and over that his job is to make sure Obama is a one term President. Much as I dislike Obama and long ago though it was, that’s way different than what my government class said his job was.
Good morning, pups. It’s Brooks and Krugman today. Bobo wants you to work for him. In “The Life Report” he has a question: Readers over 70, have you taken stock of your life so far? Well, please write it down and tell us what you’ve learned so it can be shared with younger generations. Bobo’s assuming that younger generations read his crap… Prof. Krugman, in “The Path Not Taken,” says there were alternatives to the economic doctrine that championed bank bailouts and mass suffering from the public. Look at Iceland.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes for breakfast. I’ve got to go and pack up the fudge and Rice Krispy Treats I made for tomorrow’s church fair. I’m delighted to have a task this morning — it will keep me from having to consider Miss McConnell, and I may get to work without being in a foul mood. What a repellant toad he is. (Sorry toads, for insulting you.) Have a great day.
That needs to be on a sign during his next election.
Boxturtle (And Mitch, you give a bad name to ALL turtles *sigh*)
Something more to tell the cops as they attempt to arrest the 99%.
But despite that, it would be a worthy goal if we just had someone decent to take over for him. President Romney gives me the same acid reflux that President Obama does.
Boxturtle (Politicians don’t govern anymore, they just do politics)
Good morning all.
Here’s a DUH headline: Obama top bundlers have ties to lobbies.
Silly fools that we are, giving contributions without demanding anything in return.
Our contributions were not big enough to demand anything in return.
However, remember all those friggin’ Blue American candidates? I’m removing myself from all their email lists.
I can also assure you that O took our contributions with a smirk, loving the idea of what suckers we were.
We’ve actually demanded a lot. Health CARE (As opposed to insurance), Prosecute war criminals. Prosecute banksters. Rule of Law.
We’ve received squat. And now he comes with his hand extended for more?!?
Boxturtle (Do I spit in the hand or bite it? decisions, decisions)
What we lacked was a bundler, good sir.
According to McConnell jobs would be a coincidental byproduct of a healthy business, and the paychecks would be a costly charge against the profit.
Well, I’m over 70 and while I’m probably in the bottom 10% of “wealth” (i.e., I have none), I feel Brooks’ foot on my shoulder.
Give me Paul anyday.
I should get two friends of mine who are both over 80 years and BOTH HAVE to work. I’m sure that both of them could give Bobo an earful about how they were both ripped off of their pension benefits when working at larger companies that went bankrupt… of course the top-brass CEOs of said companies walked away with million$$$$ (yeah: boo de effen hoo, it was ONLY million$$$ bc we’re talking about the ’90s), while the serf-workers LOST their pension investments.
So these 2 citizens who are both 80+ are living the Ayn Rand panty-sniffer’s *dream* of having to continue working to barely get by & scrape up a living. I’m sure that they could tell Bobo a thing or two, but I’m equally sure that Bobo would be: lalalalalalalalAAAAAAAAAAAA can’t heeeaaarrrr you! Cuz Bobo only wants to hear from the 1% 70 year olds who “made it” and weren’t ripped off by the PTB.
Of course, I’m sure our resident trolls would also say that these 2 80 year olds must surely be total lazy slackers who simply didn’t “work hard enough” and completely *deserve* whatever crappy fate they currently endure bc, ya know, it’s all & only their fault that their former employers ripped them off.
ptoui! load of crap.
BTW Mitch McConnell can kiss my ass! What a lousy excuse for a so-called “human being” he is. ptoui!
Mitch is nothing more than a bumbling, blubbering idiot. However, if one looks at the repub candidates he fits with the rest of the repub leadership. But in his defense, he is quick to sell-out when money is waved in front of him.
