tis 45 outside — rain is forecast to come in later tonight and tomorrow and is supposed to warm it up a bit… the sunshine has been pretty but not warm – at least the blanket of clouds usually keeps it a wee bit warmer at night
I is otay. Recovering from two days at the dentist. Two hours in the chair to get a temporary crown, then back in the next day because the temporary shattered. Now I’ve got an aluminium temporary, and is it ever sensitive to cold!
Whew — the Cards just barely pulled it out against the Texas Rangers, forcing a deciding Game 7 of the World Series. When I look at the Rangers, I see Bush, Rove and Perry, so you know who I’m rooting for.
I know the feeling.
Seeing the Giants pound the snot out of the Rangers last year, with Nolan Ryan, and Chimpy and his posse present was very gratifying.
Great. Work is slow so i cleaned the bathroom from ceiling to floor. The fridge is spectacular and it is dust free underneath. Both trucks are ready for winter. The electric trike will get studs in the morrow. All’s good except a governor who wants to sell our state for a song.
Nope. It didn’t get below freezing during that storm. Good thing too, because I got over an inch of rain.
A friend on the front range had a 30 foot oak tree snap in half because of heavy wet snow on the leaves. There’s a reason most trees aren’t native here. The little ponderosa pines in my yard out there would bend over double from snow load, then spring back once the snow fell off.
I got maintenance done. They will make it through the winter. There isn’t any money to replace them. They weren’t in too bad a shape for their age, but they are getting old. I had to shut off the gaming box with two days with no sun. I’ll have to watch that this winter – only game in good weather.
It’d be mighty sweet to see Chimpy redfaced again…! Go Cards…!
Ironically, my folks had just hosted a Rangers fan club meetup today, in my old hale…! My step-dad is from Baytown, Tejas…! I didn’t have the courage to call and gloat…! ;-)
To his credit, he is diehard Cardiac Sox fan too…! ;-)
Well great and awful — MrCE had a lecture about Burke & Hare, the 1828 anatomy murderers who killed people to sell to Edinburgh anatomist Dr. Knox. Well that was attended by over 115 people. After the lecture (and her book is available: Anatomy Murders) we had a great reception and a private dinner locally. All fun until arriving home to find that MsCE was burgled and lost her computer and camera.
Hello Suz and all, we are feeling mighty cold tonight, I should prolly go and put a blanket over a couple of plants. . .thinking about the people I have met at (Un)Occupy ABQ who will be on the streets tonight, very cold.
Yes. And better landlords. She is thinking of moving to the west side of the city, where we joke that one needs a passport to visit/live. Cleveland is so strange, but oddly beautiful.
Lucky you don’t have a pinhead gov. Could easily blame it on Palin, the voters are where the weak point is. Sorry i cant help on the cleaning but will give you a hint-wine works and don’t use it for scrubbing.
hi all, great song, Suz!
It’s kind of nippy here in SE Ohio. There’s a pumpkin shortage this year or so I heard on the news, but a town near Columbus had their annual pumpkin festival. Pumpkin beer…count me out.
Am doing okay. A woman I teach with gave me some socks to bring to Occupy Los Angeles, so I did that after work. One of my students brought me some guavas he grew in his back yard, but they’re short on food at OLA, so that’s where the guavas went. And (in the spirit of breaking my arm patting myself on the back), kicked in $30 to FDL’s Occupy Supply Fund.
I will give the city the benefit of the doubt and assume it was for health reasons. As you know from my diary, conditions are just a little scruffy there.
Ah, nice song. “Memphis” is his all-time best, though. I couldn’t believe it when I learned Rivers is white. He’s a discount version of the Elvis model — a white guy channeling black music.
I have thought about it because people want to know, and I have not written it, so I could direct them to a diary.
The story is not quite done, we still have brothers in jail, and I really want to hear more from them. Even though they were in the cell next to us (that means more than 30 people in 2 cells), we were not allowed to communicate with them at the place.
Do you think that it would be better to talk about the jail thing (which included jailers searching us because “something (unnamed) was missing” which meant them putting their hands in our pants among other things) or to focus on the reasons for going to jail/Occupy issues?
I think there is going to be some kind of get together tomorrow night of the jailbirds. After that, I will have more perspective. I hope.
Thanks for your suggestion. Occupy is a complicated action. I suppose we don’t have a lot of educating to do here, but it is important to get the info out about what is going on.
I have talked to the media the last 2 days, have not seen what was published. I have not tried to watch the TV news from Tuesday night. I was worried that LM would see it and be upset, but I think she was in bed by the time we were arrested. I missed a clinic appt. with her in Santa Fe on Wed because I did not get out in time. The caregivers have been very supportive of me. . .and picked up the pieces to keep LM in her groove.
at some point you will want to sit down and start typing. i find i do best when i start with a summary paragraph followed by a factual narrative (gee wonder where that came from???) and then the story just seems to tell itself.
but that is what works for me… i think its important you memorialize it while its still fresh for you but totally understand that its a lot to process and that takes time
Hey folks!
So apparently I’m in charge of the PR strategy for Occupy Wall Street.
Sweet!
You know that diary I wrote on “What to do when the media say a protester attacks a cop.”?
Well some guy at Big Government found out that it was sent to a OWS listserv
and it turned into this headline.
Revealed: #OccupyWallStreet Public Relations Strategy for Reports of Violence Against Cops–Blame Someone Else!
Here’s the link, be careful where you click from and if you even decide to click, they will want to know how people found this.
The story of course leaves out my proof of agent provocateurs, and mis-characterizes my advice, but it is kind of amusing that I showed up on their radar.
Thank you, bgrothus! You are amazing!
Diary it, if you’re comfortable posting.
I have to figure out how I can help, being sidelined by caregiving.
Thank you.
I’m good, but I’ve got to go to bed now. That article on the Breitbart site made me nervous at first, but then Breitbart’s people love to attack folks who are good progressives.
Ohhh, you make it sound so intriguing! To click or not to click. That is the question.
Spocko, I want to click. Will it blow up my computer or just put me into the “next sphere of the data-base” ?
Oakland Police Chief Anthony Batts announced his resignation after receiving a highly critical report from a court-appointed monitor tracking reforms the department was ordered to make after four officers were accused more than a decade ago of systematically beating and framing suspects.
Shamar Thomas–the vet that shamed the NYC cops–was on Olberman tonight. He said he was at Oakland’s march last night, and when he was trying to help another marcher who’d slipped off the sidewalk, a cop started beating on his (Thomas’s) back with a baton….
Okay, this guy stretches my open minded musical sensibilities.
Screams Redneck to an old Hipster.
But, I’m starting to give him room and he’s good……

and kind of high pitched
As I wrote in my diary “After Albany, It’s Time to Stop Making Excuses for Bad Cops”
“…what the cops in Oakland did went beyond dishonor, for they had become the very violent criminals they were hired to protect society from, and every one of them disgraced both their uniform and the nation that trusted them to wear it.”
No shit! I’m not old enough to be a true hippy and I’m 57. I’m a Hipster who thought those hippies 5-7 years older then me were Okay, but not my people.
I looked up zygotes and read they’re a diploid cell resulting from the fusion of two haploid gametes: a fertilized ovum.
I do not compute.

my day has caught up with me again and i’m wiped. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight. hope to see ya tomorrow night for muppets (i think ya’ll are really gonna like it)
The MSM of the time labeled Charlie Manson a hippy, thus branding in the public mind hippies as not peace & love, but as dangerous sociopaths. Hippydom was all over after that…..
I meant eggs years away from fertilization are now considered hippies, as that is the only way one can be considered a hippie if they are presently in their 20s. So, since I was only 9 or 10 in 1969/70 the only way my kids, if I’d had any, could be considered hippies, would be if they were considered hippies prior to fertilization. I added zygotes just to use a big word.
Sweet dreams, Suzanne.
We’re celebrating my Mom’s 88th tomorrow with wine, flowers and song. and Old Lady jokes.
I’ve got to bone up on 3 hilarious, racy “Little Old Lady” jokes a wonderful 94 year old Crone told me. Timing is everything! I will be ready to have them in tears of laughter, strictly on the quality of the jokes. Because what else do I have to give a Little Old Lady?

Oh Chris, hate to hear that.
None of the dancers in that clip could dance worth crap. Makes me ashamed to be a white dude. Wasn’t that a movie? White Guys Can’t Dance?
Hello Suz and all, we are feeling mighty cold tonight, I should prolly go and put a blanket over a couple of plants. . .thinking about the people I have met at (Un)Occupy ABQ who will be on the streets tonight, very cold.
I know, I had my phone off until 12:45 pm. and felt so guilty.
bg! how ya doing tonight?
That totally bites, CE…! 8-(
I was shocked — this only happens in NYC, right? Not little Cleveland Heights. She said that they took a screwdriver to the apartment door.
Occupy Hilo was super!
she needs better locks
Just remember: after all, tomorrow is another day!
poor side of town
Up late, kinda, I slept hard last night after my night in jail, during which I got very little sleep. Bonding with all my jailbirds at Occupy here.
Yes. And better landlords. She is thinking of moving to the west side of the city, where we joke that one needs a passport to visit/live. Cleveland is so strange, but oddly beautiful.
Aloha, bg…! Mahalo for all your efforts…!
That was a great question you had asked on my latest diary…! *g*
Yea and go for you bgrouthus– thank you!
Mahalo, CE…! I hope to expand it…! *g*
Lucky you don’t have a pinhead gov. Could easily blame it on Palin, the voters are where the weak point is. Sorry i cant help on the cleaning but will give you a hint-wine works and don’t use it for scrubbing.
We have not started to talk about it here, but we will, soon.
hi all, great song, Suz!
It’s kind of nippy here in SE Ohio. There’s a pumpkin shortage this year or so I heard on the news, but a town near Columbus had their annual pumpkin festival. Pumpkin beer…count me out.
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life. We’ll always have Paris.
i saw it in the window and i couldn’t resist
Am doing okay. A woman I teach with gave me some socks to bring to Occupy Los Angeles, so I did that after work. i figured you were sleeping… i was hoping you were sleeping
have ya thought about doing an myfdl diary about getting arrested?
Hey Margot,
I bought a huge pumpkin that the squirrels are eating like mad. I guess that I’m feeding the poor.
hahahaha…. i’ve heard that leafy green vegetable stuff also good
hey margot — how was your day? glad ya liked the song.
Uggh — I’m sorry to hear that.
woohoo blue! i can’t believe the food/kitchen restrictions la has had imposed upon them…
Jump. We can’t jump.
Hi Chris, sorry to hear about the burglary. That is on the rise here, too.
I got a pumpkin to paint and little gourds too.
how about swaying?
I will give the city the benefit of the doubt and assume it was for health reasons. As you know from my diary, conditions are just a little scruffy there.
It’s been a good day. Love reading the Occupy stories from all over.
Ah, nice song. “Memphis” is his all-time best, though. I couldn’t believe it when I learned Rivers is white. He’s a discount version of the Elvis model — a white guy channeling black music.
My two little gourds were eaten up!
i wish the cities would embrace the occupies – the cities and employees are 99%ers too
Goodnight all,
I have to work tomorrow and help MsCE deal with police. See you on the weekend.
aren’t they wonderful! the myfdl editor has been front paging them left and right

You must be pushin the snooze factor there.
Good night, dear Firepups. Parting is such sweet pastry.
the story is yours to tell… tell what you think is important about your experience and others with you.
ok, fine.. how about some muddy water then
Talk about it now before you anali-zit too much.
g’nite dave
*heh* You should see the street vendors in downtown Seoul or Manila…! ;-)
Get a grip…!
I think there is going to be some kind of get together tomorrow night of the jailbirds. After that, I will have more perspective. I hope.

I could be wrong, but I think there’s a brief patch in there where he’s imitating Dylan’s signature nasal style.

he covered dylan in this

((bg)) I’m so sorry I didn’t get time to meet you when I was in NM. Next time!
bg, when ya do write your diary, send me an email when its up so i can read, recommend, and tweet it
OK, I’ll sleep on it. Thanks for your good suggestions.
Take care everyone, and Occupy! We are the 99%!

The NYC police union is now threatening to sue OWS if any of their officers is injured when kicking in the ribs and smashing the faces of protesters:

He does a surprisingly good job — one doesn’t ordinarily think of Rivers as a deep guy.
Gorgeous. We’re finally getting a break from the rain you southerners missed out on. I think you missed it.
aw crap, i snagged the happy lucky 99
fork
hey robert — how’s soPA tonight?
he’s very versatile…. it wasn’t until i started searching for his utubes that i realized how many of his songs i knew and just how many styles he sang
Temp is 36 degrees. Green tea & lemon cake keeping this aging body warm….
I’m good, but I’ve got to go to bed now. That article on the Breitbart site made me nervous at first, but then Breitbart’s people love to attack folks who are good progressives.
i’m supposed to get rain later tonight and tomorrow… we could use it… have only had trace amounts (0.04″ or less) for the past couple weeks…
Ohhh, you make it sound so intriguing! To click or not to click. That is the question.
Spocko, I want to click. Will it blow up my computer or just put me into the “next sphere of the data-base” ?
sleep well dood
Is 99 the new 100?
I can dig it. :)
The mayor of Oakland did a 180 and fired the police chief today, for those here who may not have heard about it….
NYPD should have a plan for the officers who don’t wear steel boots and shin guards. While they are kicking in the rib’s of peaceful protesters. /s
We are the 99%…! *g*
walkin’ blues
Michael Moore will be addressing the occupiers at the Oakland Occupation tomorrow….
the chief quit on 10/12 — before the police riot against the occupiers…. the interim chief is still the chief per opd’s website
Mayor Kwan said police presence will be minimal from now on/recall petition just filed against Kwan/
ppd made the suggestion and i’ve been trying to remember that 99 is the new 100
Good for him.
*heh* I just adore your double-irish luck, M’dear…! ;-)
Mayor Kwan performed a masterful but transparent two-step today.
Okay. I stand corrected. Olbermann reported it as a firing tonight, though.Maybe he was talking about the interim chief….
from sfgate dated october 13th
grrrr
i could be wrong but i’ve seen that sf gate article tweeted today as if it happened today instead of a couple weeks ago

I thought it was only dirty hippies who didn’t support the troops. Not bloodlusting cops out to trample our rights.
Apparently, the anticipated police shutdown of Occupy Nashville won’t be happening tonight afterall….
uhmmm, where you been?
said the teen of 1968.
mountain of love
Okay, I want to say one thing, most of the occupiers, myself included and I’ll turn 50 in a couple of weeks, aren’t old enough to be hippies.
tuez! how was your day?

No shit! I’m not old enough to be a true hippy and I’m 57. I’m a Hipster who thought those hippies 5-7 years older then me were Okay, but not my people.
Nope, they are Indigo Children to be….
summer rain
That’s very eloquent.
i’m 57 and figure i missed being a hippie by that much
There you go. I was born in 61. Old enough to be influenced, but way too young to be a part of it
I looked up zygotes and read they’re a diploid cell resulting from the fusion of two haploid gametes: a fertilized ovum.
I do not compute.
