Line of the day:

Taibbi: We cheer for people who hit their own home runs in this country– not shortcut-chasing juicers like Bonds and McGwire, Blankfein and Dimon.

1) I don’t understand why greece doesn’t simply default. It is obvious to even the most casual observer that Europe is not going to come up with the funds to do anything else.

2) Even the GOP is chewing on Mittens over that one. Lot’s of tongue in cheek coverage of that locally. Still, would an indecisive, do nothing president with no detectable positions on anything be worse than what we have now?

3)The pro-life side is not going to give up. The smart ones truly believe that abortion is murder, the dumb ones are sure they’d go hell for anything that might not push the pro-life side because that’s what they hear every week from the pulpit and the cynics are counting votes.

4) Lucky for Mitt….

5) Well, duh! How long did it take to figure that out?

Boxturtle (Msg to Barry’s re-election team: I’m still not scared of Mitt. You need to do better)

SB5 is going to go down in flames. I think it will take the other two GOP initiatives with it.

But the abortion one will be very close, that’s the only thing that might get discouraged GOPers to the polls.

This Financial Times blog is a good place to follow the EuroBomb:

13.20: As German parliamentarians debate the eurozone crisis, anti-bank demonstrators have gathered outside the Bundestag, unfurling a 15 metre-long banner calling for “die Banken in die Schranken”. Quentin Peel says this means, freely translated, “Cut the Banks down to Size“, with just a hint of “Stick the Bankers Behind Bars“.

13.15: Angela Merkel is coming under fire in the Bundestag, says Quentin Peel, our Berlin bureau chief, as the chancellor’s opponents seize the opportunity to voice their anger ahead of a parliamentary vote on expanding the firepower of the eurozone rescue fund:

“One of the best speakers in the Bundestag is Gregor Gysi, leader of the far-left Linke party, and he never misses an opportunity to taunt his more worthy rivals in big debates with embarrassing insights.
‘Why don’t you tell the German taxpayers the truth?’ he demanded of Ms Merkel. ‘They are being asked to pay for the losses of the French banks’. The chancellor looked pained and irritated

.

Germany is what matters because they have the money the Global Financial Elite Wants. The trick is to rob the German People without them realizing it. At some point, one begins to consider the question of treason by state leaders.

Not going so well in Italy either:

13.47 It’s all kicking off in Rome. At least two deputies from the Northern League, a member of the ruling centre-right coalition, had a fist-fight with members from the opposition FLI party of speaker Gianfranco Fini, Reuters reports. Two deputies grabbed each other by the throat as other parliamentarians rushed to separate them, while parliament was temporarily suspended.

I just finished a little book called the “Problems of Death”. It covers Suicide, Abortion, and Capital Punishment. It presents all points of view and for me being an Atheist/Agnostic all the arguments from the religious point of view are mute. It amazes me how the GOP keeps using the abortion issue to keep dividing this country.

Neo-feudalism is exactly correct. From the CBO:

From 1979 to 2007, average household income for the nation’s top 1% nearly tripled, while middle-class incomes grew by less than 40%, according to a new report from a research arm of Congress.

Says it all in one sentence.

You’re a wonder, wonderwoman.
Greenwarrior is a doll. I’ll bet she’s cute too.

Attaturk had the links I saw earlier in the weekend and I’m scheduled with two different ministers this PM.

unbelievably cute ! scooter boy and I were both struck by how she looked younger than both of us even though she’s 10 yrs older – and so very down to earth and warm — you’d've loved it

This is Kevin’s beat and I’m sure will be the focus of the liveblog that will go up shortly. Don’t worry :) Nobody’s ignoring Oakland, or Atlanta, or Sacramento, or any of the other cities who were hit by police last night.

You are gonna have to beat off the women with a stick :)

I really messed up my Facebook. I don’t know what the dickens I’m doing. I had photos up, but set up for Public, then worried that some malign being would see them, so at midnight last night changed them all to Friends only…

What to do? About all of it. What about posts from othe people? This is when I really start to feel old!

I know for sure that Albuquerque, Sacto, Oakland, and Atlanta had arrests. I’m sure Kevin will have more when he gets the liveblog up. I had to call off at 11 last night. I was so angry about Oakland. I couldn’t take anymore.
