This is what Dean was talking about:
The US Congress has approved free trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Panama, ending a four-year drought in the forming of new trade partnerships and giving the White House and Capitol Hill the opportunity to show they can work together to stimulate the economy and put people back to work.
The House of Representatives and Senate voted in rapid succession on the three trade pacts, which the administration says could boost exports by $13bn (£8.25bn) and support tens of thousands of American jobs. None of the votes was close, despite opposition from labour groups and other critics of free trade agreements who say they result in job losses and ignore labour rights problems in the partner countries.
President Barack Obama said passage of the agreements was “a major win for American workers and businesses”.
“Tonight’s vote, with bipartisan support, will significantly boost exports that bear the proud label ‘Made in America’, support tens of thousands of good-paying American jobs and protect labour rights, the environment and intellectual property … I look forward to signing these agreements,” Obama said.
Dean Baker is shrill.

About Firedoglake
Morning, BT.
How in the world does Obama get to “A major win” when their own numbers say the loss of 110K jobs?
The local news spent a lot of time flogging how much more auto parts we’d be selling from Ohio. Not so much time on how many Ohio jobs will be lost.
And on a side note, the Pro-SB5 (or anti issue 2, as you prefer) folks are spending money of TV time. They bought almost all the commercial spots for the local news. Same voiceover announcer they always use when they’re concern trolling. Basic point: The bill will hurt police and fire, while benefitting bureaucrats and will raise your taxes to pay for politicians.
Boxturtle (IOW, they’re lying but they’re doing a slick job of it)
o may have mis-spoke , tell me it isn’t so o .
Was it the last lie of yesterday or the first lie of today ?
“Silliness” is not the word for this.
These are desperate cowardly lies.
One-and-done Obama will be in my neck of the woods tomorrow, taking a victory lap with South Korea’s president at a Detroit-area auto plant. The leader of a once-great political party will meet and greet the leaders of the UAW, a once-great labor union.
Mornin’, BT, pups
“Made in America” does not necessarily mean “Made in USA.” There’s North America (US and Canada), Central America and South America. Goods made in the manufacturing zones in Mexico, eg, Maytag appliances, will carry the “Made in America” label. Mayhaps the label should read, “Made in America but not by US workers.”
US workers keep hearing that sucking sound as even more of their jobs disappear.
Maybe he will pay a visit to Occupy Detroit….
sorry, good morning pupses and thank you, BT
Also, clothes made in sweatshops in Palau are legally labeled “Made in USA.”
How in the world does Obama get to “A major win” when their own numbers say the loss of 110K jobs?
Process politics. Any legislation, no matter how bad, is a win if you support it.
Not so very long ago a comment like that would have flagged you as a “conspiracy theorist.”
Makes me think of Tom DeLay

Good morning all.
Silliness? That’s such a silly word to use.
Harrisburg, PA files for bankruptcies: democracynow.
Full hour is on DC fight over net neutrality and other comunication ind matters. Big corp gunz are out in full. Gonzales book about news media for past century and all the scuzzy stuff they’ve perpetrated, esp fostering racism.
USG subsidies for communication technology. Then tech subverted PTB, so USG had to step in the change the rules, so that wouldn’t be allowed to happen.
GAG…Sorry that’s how you started your morning….At least we are not hearing much from him these days.
G’Morning….
He has to find his walking shoes first. He’s been busy ya know. /s

Book, co-authored by Joe Torres, is titled News for all the People.
Good morning, RevBev :)
How are you and Angela this a.m.?
Hey, Popeye *g*
Perry about to spend millions attacking Romney. Doing O’s work for him.
Sorry to be O/T Here is the web page of Occupy St. Louis they are posting the results of their GA meetings each day.

Also here is you tube video of the Monday night march:

They are growing.
Think of what all those millions of $$ could be doing to improve life for people rather than filling the air with even more
pollutioncrap.very well, thanks. What a contented girl she is. How ’bout you?
Loved how Christie looked when endorsing Romney.
Should have been wearing a tutu and holding a Maltese.
Good morning OmAli. Hope you are doing well. I am taking a friend next week to the protest as he doesn’t want to do it by himself. Don’t mean to harp on this movement but I think it’s the most important issue and action of the day.
Some arrests in Austin last night….
Mutt ‘n Jeff, Id say.
Sorry to hear that. They had some a couple of weeks ago but the Mayor is behind the movement as long as they obey the law.
That is such a good description, contented. I picture her half dozing, gently extending and retracting her claws, maybe a stretch and little yawn….
I’m good, thanks. Sorry about the wretched mood yesterday. I changed the spells and tweaked the incantations and I think we are safe now. For a while, at least….:)
Yes, if he is Romney’s choice for VP, they shouldn’t be seen together.
Or Stan and Ollie. Couldn’t resist sorry.
Good for you. I have a friend who contacted me about going on Friday. He is a retired professor and true progressive. Look forward to his company and contributions.
Kukla, Fran and Ollie! You made me remember!
Plant the seeds they will grow.
Morning BT & Pups of Fire:
Pretty good clip…
Here
Remember “who’s on first” LOL
more than a little diet coke out the nose *g*
he is truly a sight to behold, I have to admit his behavior is horribly fascinating
Abbott and Costello, so many pairs…..
That’s who I meant not enough coffee yet. sigh!
Beavis and Butthead…
Flip-flops are one thing, but who would have ever guessed that Mitt was a chub chaser.
LOL!
Romney can probably bring back the “infamous” remark about the little man on the wedding cake. Chortle…..
Always thought Christie was too fat to run for prez. Unless he grew mutton chops, of course.
One of his consultants must have told him that.
He had a mandate, and we see what he did with it….
don’t want to know, don’t want to know, don’t want to know….!! :)
We need to be alert to revive the story of Mittster’s dogs in a cage on the roof of his car when he & his family traveled for vacation. Lots of dog lovers would be offended. *g*
Slightly OT. I am always amazed by the fact that I have an image in my mind of how each regular FDL commenter looks, and then they reveal a characteristic, and my image is ALWAYS 180 degrees off the mark.
“There’s a monster on the wing of Air Force One!”
“No, Mr. President, that’s the presidential pup…”

I get the sex wrong fairly often. Which is good, I guess.
Maybe Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis….Not for girth, just the schtick…..;)
Yep, noticed that. How about that deceptive language about saving the jobs of “great” educators. Nice spin on “merit pay.”
So, if we “merit pay” the CEO’s of the financial industry, would they not owe all of us because their performance has been so bad for so many years and has been destroying the nation?
Sounds like great financial industry legislation to me.
I remember Hayden from when he was doing workshops on Marxism at an off-campus site at UCSD back in the early 70s.
Actually, we all have mutton chops.
Now here’s some mutton chops. Pass along to the Christie people.

For example, I had a picture in my mind of eCAHN as an older, short, overweight professor — during the day, that is. /s
What does she change into, at night?? *g*
Was Jane with him? That would be much more interesting….
Guy Lombardo.
hahahahahaaaa I wish I could express it in letters…..hahahaha
I like Hayden, but turned it off when he got into the scenario about what O could do.
That horse has left the barn.
OT: It is genuinely cooool here this morning…going to the high 80s, but really nice start here. A hint of fall.
Or is it, that ship has done sailed.
Never saw her with him.
and the NYT today, “Approval of long-awaited free trade agreements with three countries offered a rare moment of bipartisan agreement in Washington.”
A rare moment of bipartisan agreement? Ha!
Might be an interesting dissertation, blog commenters’ perceived vs true personas. Would say a lot about the commenter…and the reader…
Also a not-so-rare moment of corporate servitude.
Guess she was somewhere riding a tank…Those were the days….
like.a.rock.
And O grabbing his ankles — again.
At least he smiles while he takes it.
My guess is that we all benefit from being somewhat of a “mystery.”
Yes.
And on a lighter note:
http://www.larouchepac.com/node/19767
“It Can’t Happen Here.”
“Bipartisanship,” as usual, means Democrats kowtowing to the Republican agenda. Obama is a master of that trade.

Yes. Aren’t we?

from The Fantasticks
Ah, good old Lyndon LaRouche. Where would we be without his wacky yet evidence-free conspiracy posturings?
Morniing, everyone! Loss of 110k jobs is a win for whom, exactly?
Shakespeare knew well of conspiracy.
Walt Disney wrote the non-conspiracy version of history.
Obama Raises More Than $70 Million
Lot of emphasis on the number of individual donors.
I think it’s commendable that you are able to go and take a friend. Good on you!
LaRouchies always liven up Democratic Party gatherings with their long, rambling screeds. “Keep it short” is not part of their creed.
Damn fools.
shows he’s such a populist /s
Not kowtowing. That suggests the Dems are bowing to Republican will. No, this is exactly what the Dems wanted. They (listen to Obama) have said so!
Neither is “keep it sane.”
Globalization and free trade have made America rich, at least the top 1%. Who cares about the rest?
That will likely be the banksters.
Morning msmolly, pups.
Hey, ms! You made it in time, this a/m/
Thanks Molly the time is now to stand up. We are the 99%.
They’re not part of the Democratic party that has served us so well.
Basically, they advocate a return to the Democratic Party of FDR.
It’s not “free” trade. It costs us jobs. Thay should call it “jobs trade.”
It was always meant to trade jobs. 1000 middle class jobs for 1 high paying job. Seems fair.
Gosh, I slept in. But, it looks like you folks are still here and being a little silly this morning.
I happen to like silly.
The money quote from the Tom Hayden clip.
That is the way I get thru each day. If you stop laughing and being silly you die inside. *g*
‘mornin, Ms demi! How you?
Raining here in South Bend. I think our 10 days of glorious Indian summer weather are coming to an end.
Yeah, it’s been a somewhat crazy time Chez Molly the past few days. By the time I get to Swim, everyone has moved on.
it is silly, a good silly
We’ll just extend the hours or open a few additional lanes
Me too. I guess you might have noticed that.
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.

Namaste
Never. Give. Up.
Never
How nice. We’re still in indian summer hell. Was 100 yesterday and didn’t cool much until the wee hours. I had my air on in the bedroom all night.
Plus, this weather makes a lot of people sick. I’m one of them. :(
I may not get your point….Was it /s?
Yes I have. Life is too short.
Isn’t silly good? Way better than rude, dontcha know?
I think a little overtime in the am works just fine sometimes.
(It’s been where I’ve gotten the juicy tidbits about people. Muttonchops, 32 foster children, etc.)
Training (re-training) for recall Walker begins this afternoon. Two WI state Democratic senators introduced legislation to repeal Walker’s public sector union busting legislation. At least the state Democrats are stating their position of opposition to him, formally.
I’ve always like the statue of the Laughing Buddha.
Laughter comes from the heart. Rudeness has to be thought up, until it becomes a habit.
You are correct again, Reverlicious.
*g*
OoooWow. How delish is that? ;)
Was the Party of FDR Democratic?
I’m not getting it.
Did the 32 foster kids all have muttonchops?
Big thanks for that song again. Love Mr. Seeger. Big Love.
I’m smiling on the side of the good.
No one can be sad or mad while listening to a banjo.
They were when they left. And, packing an extra long corn dog in their back pockets.
Go through your prior comment history and your next payday may come with the publication of Demi’s Little Blue Book, (title inspiration from the chairman, Mao).
BTW, I have an inkling of how a few pups look back from the fb days. We do have that capability with myfdl, but it seems that most don’t want to post their photos. To each his own, I do be curious from time to time.
Have a great day everyone. Keep up the fight and as SD always says never give up. *g*
I never thought of that. But, I cannot always tell what material works and what does not. What I would need would be a good Editor. The pay would be lousy for said editor, but the yucks along the way would be good benefits, I hope.
Never
Never surrender.
(btw, did you see the ows sign – I think it was a occupy la – that said
Resistance Is Fertile.) Hows that for playing with words? I loved it.
What happens at an Occupy, stays at an Occupy.
I’m off, too. XOXOXO
safe travels and safe home, pupses
ohmmmm
Totally OT, but, do you know if skinnytaste is related to Skinny Cow brand ice cream? Do you have that in Chattanooooo?
I didn’t see it but I agree. I am going out of town tomorrow for an MS touch of nature weekend. I will probably miss Caturday but I will take some pics for next week to share.
Oh, you are on a roll this morning. Glad I didn’t stop to make coffee or whatever and came straight here.
oops. Saw this as was signing out.
I don’t think there is any relation, no.
The chicken and mushrooms in white wine sauce was so easy and so good.
Also the carne bistec…..
yum
bye!
edit… yes, we do have Skinny Cow. Need to try that…
Have fun. Don’t step on any critters and we’ll see you next week with lovely photos. (You could even put the timer on and jump into a shot – hint hint.)
I’d be careful about jumping into a shot, especially if Dick Cheney has been seen in the area.
I don’t think you would want to see me it would ruin the moment. *g*
Good day one and all. Three day stretch of rain in the forecast, needed. I have a couple hours before it starts and a few outdoor activities to attend to. Hugs and strength.
I’ll have whatever EDP is having. ‘Cause it sure works.
You’re a doll.
I’m proctoring a midterm exam. Something about the atmosphere of boredom and terror is making me really punchy.
I’m sure that’s not true at all. We all know where true beauty lies. And, you’re a good ‘un. ‘Tis true.
I was going to ask you what in hell was going on there to inspire such great silliness.
You’re having more fun than the students at this moment.
But, then later, you’ll be grading and what will they be doing?
Thanks. Maybe I will post a family pic.
Drinking would be my guess.
I would love to see that. Maybe we’ll talk about doing a Family Photo diary sometime.
The picture in my head was of them all hitting the parking lot and pulling out the bongs.
Midterms….Can’t wait to see what Finals will bring….;)
Still here, demi?
I was out of town last Weds. – Sunday visiting old friends and attending a HUGE contemporary art exhibition. And I’m refinancing my mortgage (rates are really low) and they want reams of documentation because I’m retired, even though they can look at my statements and see that I could pay off the mortgage. So I’ve been running around gathering stuff.
Bongs? Do they still use bongs? LOL.
Just one more reason to hate the banksters. :-)
I am. If they really want to grab your money – is it a different lender – why would they make you jump through so many hoops? Good for you. I can’t find a mortgage company who will re-fi our manufactured house loan. There used to be a rule/law/clause that manufactured houses had to have a higher interest rate, then someone changed the policy, but I can’t find a soul who’s willing to comply.
Well….I’ve been in a couple of Head Shops in the past year, to look for interesting gifts – they have jewelry and t-shirts too – and it seems the paraphanalia is more varied and abundant than it was in the 70′s. And, expensive too. How can they afford that stuff?
Looked back in and saw this part of the thread and I remembered a shot from the wayback machine.
my shisha pipe
Looks like a corner in an Egyptophile’s place in the 1920s. Cool.
Hahaaha :)
Thank you. That is just what I wanted it to be. I’m glad that it seemed that way to you, too.
The house was a tiny 1924 bungalow, and our things just seemed to fit.
That pipe didn’t sit there all the time. Had to do some staging, for effect :)
Is that because of all the people trying to win a date?
Yeah, I want to waste my time eating dinner with a war criminal, no thank you.
such simple messaging, I like it
Absolutely :)
beautiful space
When referring to Obama, “that ship done sunk” is more accurate.
Thank you, forest.
Less is more.
