I spent too much of the day reading reviews of Bulldozer. AMD screwed the pooch on this one. As far as I can tell, this is a server CPU they are trying to sell for the desktop. Huge (2 billion transistors), hot, crappy benchmarks for desktop tasks. Pretty depressing. I was hoping AMD would be back in the game with this one. No such luck.
I’m tired. Stayed up too late last night, got up too early, didn’t get anything done. Now it’s dark again. It’s a vicious cycle, and that’s the worst kind!
Maybe if you quit working so hard you can get something done. Sometimes I get like that. I can’t stop no matter how much I need to. If I didn’t have dogs that need to walk I would be doomed. Do you have a doggie?
I’m pretty processor agnostic. The two main machines I run both have Intel. Two other runnable machines have AMD. I have two mini-itx boards with Via processors, another dead system with an Intel, a dead iMac with a G3, and an ancient Mac with a Motorola 68040 that boots but is otherwise useless.
It would be good for everybody if AMD was competitive with Intel again. But, no such luck. At least not for desktop processors.
AMD is actutally doing well with combined CPU/GPU chips. They’ve had several product rollouts this year with good products and good sales. Their server chip business is good. Their graphics card business is good. But they just can’t get it together in desktop processors.
I’m still showering off the gak from sloshing through some winger blogs today…was looking to see if they all thought we are just “useful idiots” for Obama! some really think that!!! ugh. Ihave a hangover.
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…! If all goes well, my latest footage of the sunset and all the domes opening up will be available soon on Youtube…! My fingers are crossed…! ;-)
Sac is wonderful right now. Cool and sweet. Best time of year for here.
I had a Big C, lumpy booby scare over the past ten days. Found out today that I am fine. I am still at a 97% cure rate. With a grandson on the way I want to be here to welcome him to the planet. Hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey dosido — if ya press that red button at each power station, you will find the brain bleach was topped off today — i ordered up some triple strength
great, just in time. It’s not the smell, but the burning in my eyes!
I did find an interesting link and sent it to Kevin G. Some Tea Party mucky muck was making the case for Occupy people. And people were listening in the comments. that was encouraging.
Others not so much, totally buying the commie plot theory from Rushblob. I finally let loose and told one board to get off their teeter totters and do some homework on the bank fraud. What issue would get them to stand with their fellow Americans? sheesh.
Got a call from some Democratic Party organization tonight. (I don’t think I’ve ever been a registered D…..went Indie after Nixon.) I said to the young man, “Oh, Honey, you should be out with the 99%ers. You’ll get nothing from me. Obama failed at every step….FISA, selling out to PhARMA, assassinating American citizens, trashing the true left….and on and on. I’d rather have Romney….at least I’ll know there’s a Republican who says he’s a Republican rather that one who says he’s a Democrat.”
When I quit listing my information, I said, “Anything else you want to ask me?” He said, “Well I kinda agree with you.” Obama is in big trouble. And that satisfies me very much, thank you.
Oh, and I just found out I have another grandbaby on the way! A real surprise. A Montana baby. Despite the mess the world is in, a new baby does give one hope and joy.
Hiya, pups. Beautiful clear blue sky all week – since Friday. No wind, either, The last of the garden is getting dried, canned, juiced and cellared. Gonna get down to 15 F tonight. Strider and Mooch soaking up the last afternoon rays.
I’m having a few similar experiences. Local Democratic Party die-hards who cut me off on facebook and twitter last year seem to be drifting back one by one. A woman very critical of Obama just got elected as our district party chair. The pro-Obama predecessor (both are close friends) decided she was tired of defending Obama – among other things.
Speaking of winter preparations – rapper Lupe Fiasco was raising money for winter coats and cold weather gear for the Occupy WS movement in Oakland today.
If anything, our replacement governor is worse. Far worse. Palin at least sometimes stood up to big oil. Sean Parnell is increasingly being called Seanico Parnellips (after his relationship with Conoco-Phillips, for whom he lobbied before becoming Palin’s LTG).
Saw Todd in Wasilla the other day. He looked visibly relieved that the follies are sort of over.
Touch of drizzle, but the Circle 8 Writer’s 6th anthology Apocryphilia went to the printers today after glitches stole a few days from us. You can check the cover out here: http://robertlarend.blogspot.com/
Just click the cover to see it large enough to recognize another author name other than mine you all may know.
It has been Indian Summer, but then changed to dreary and drizzling. I’ve been thinking of stews, what to make for Christmas gifts, but mostly kind of hibernating. There was a day in September when the sun slanted at a different angle and that did it. Hello, pillow, warm dog and comforter.
What’s this about snakebite?
steph got bit by a snake either last week or the week before. she was stacking wood and not wearing gloves (boy did she get a mom lecture) and got bit right at the tip of her pinkie finger. thank goodness it wasn’t a poisonous snake
Anyone else see the Huntsman joke from the debate last night?
Asked what he thought of Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 plan, the former Ambassador to China replied,
“I think it’s a catchy phrase, in fact I thought it was the price of a pizza when I first heard it.”
no rain today (at least no rain since i got up) – rain gauge says we got about 1/4″ prior to that. still some clouds in the sky playing peek a boo with the moon

hey dave — how ya doing tonight?
Weren’t their processors all the rage years back?
I’m tired. Stayed up too late last night, got up too early, didn’t get anything done. Now it’s dark again. It’s a vicious cycle, and that’s the worst kind!
senator! how’s sac tonight?
yuck — days like that it just doesn’t pay to get outta bed — best to just write it off and start over again the next day
Maybe if you quit working so hard you can get something done. Sometimes I get like that. I can’t stop no matter how much I need to. If I didn’t have dogs that need to walk I would be doomed. Do you have a doggie?
Yes, but it’s been a long dry spell.

Yes, a nine-year-old golden retriever puppy. She’s trying to tell me it’s time for bed, but I’ll make her wait a bit longer.
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…! If all goes well, my latest footage of the sunset and all the domes opening up will be available soon on Youtube…! My fingers are crossed…! ;-)

My other daughter is trying to get preggers, too.

Speaking of winter preparations – rapper Lupe Fiasco was raising money for winter coats and cold weather gear for the Occupy WS movement in Oakland today.

They’re more black and gray on black and gray every month.

I don’t think the Obama DOJ or FBI want to go after any big oil people. Just people like us.
