more rain. not constant but when a band moves through, its a heavy downpour instead of the showers. and the air feels like winter *brrr* its 55 outside but it feels a whole lot more like 45
My dog loves both cheese and peanut butter. She also thinks she is entitled to at least half the glass of milk anyone is drinking. Beer and OJ works too. And the little mercenary steals things and won’t give it up unless she is paid a ransom.
Hi, Suz and Gang. It’s lovely in Oxnard tonight. Oxnard, more than just a pretty name. I spent the past few days grandmommying the adorable grandtwins while their parents spent 4 days in New Orleans. Such fun! They are 3… and they got the family gift of humor. But, wow, I was in bed by 9:30 each night!
Yep, I’m only acclimatizing tonite for half of it and I’ll be able to get some sleep later at Hale Pohaku…! It’s only for 4 nites, not 5 as they first asked…! No outside work all 4 nites tho…! Easy Money…! I plan on capturing some footage of the Full Moon tomorrow nite…!
Here’s a funny: I was taking them to the grocery store with me and we passed the Catholic Church where their baptism is registered (though they were actually baptized in Italy)….they are totally into superheroes. I said, “There’s your church.” They chirped: “Yook, Yook, Superheroes!!!” And sure enough, there was a man in a green cape in the doorway (SuperPriest) and several women in blue-grey capes and hoods (SuperNuns). I laughed out loud.
So I wrote a lame little diary today. Not exactly my best work, but it was only one idea long and I was too lazy to chase up any links.
My idea is that Herman Cain is being set up as the VP nominee. He will be able to take the low, mud-slinging route in attacking Obama that a white candidate might not be able to get away with. So his campaign is just a get acquainted tour to introduce him to the base so that when Romney or not-Romney taps him for VP they won’t all get the vapors.
Well my day was a bummer. My husband came home tonight and informed me that due to obummer being in town, he had taken a different route home from work and ended up about 200 yards from that trojan horse living in the WH(thinking avoiding the freeway was the way to go). I’m like, WTF. If I had known he was going to be in town, I’d have plastered signs displaying my dissatisfaction all over my husband’s truck. Then my husband calls me later in the evening to say he had seen AF 1 fly over the house. I’m like WTF. Did you at least give him the finger?
One of the flight paths to the A/P goes right over the house. Think of what I could have done with the roof?
I’m trying to picture the neo-Confederates standing at the polls with two black men to choose between. Do they:
* leave it blank?
* vote 3rd party?
* stay home?
Somebody went to the trouble to look up how many black governors/congressmen/senators the Republicans have elected in the last 100 years. I think it was 1/6/1, or something.
They’re 20 years away from nominating a black presidential candidate.
But they had Palin last time around, and maybe Cain as VP this time around. The Democrats had Ferraro in 84, and Obama last time.
Progress. Painfully slow, but progress nevertheless.
Since we are entering the “dry” season, when Florida turns into a desert, I think I should paint “Obama the Republicans’ Republican” on the roof. That way I won’t be caught off guard again.
It’s my intention to make Orlando hell for Democrat turncoats this election cycle.
I read the live blog of the debate over at dK, and the one over at Wonkette for commentary.
What a pathetic bunch of losers.
They seem to be trying to push the idea that the inadequate stimulus bill caused the depression that it was passed in response to. And the bankster-written financial reform bill caused the bank failures it was passed in response to.
Ron Paul says 64% of Americans want to see the Fed audited. I doubt that 64% of Americans know what the Fed is.
I have a little house that has been expanded a few times, and 3 porches with roofs and a detached garage with a carport on either side. So my tiny 1200 sf 1 story house has lots and lots of roof space.
The Republican candidates last election were a bunch of clowns. This set is even worse. What does it say about a country that nobody with a three-digit IQ even wants the job?
The only good line was from Huntsman talking about Cain’s 9-9-9 plan. He said 9.99 was the price of a pizza.
I think Huntsman has given up the idea of actually running this cycle. When the Republicans crash and burn because they nominate a bunch of lunatics, he will be waiting to be the sensible moderate for the 2016 cycle.
They fed was audited 2 years ago. Thanks to Alan Grayson and Ron Paul, although the tea party doesn’t seem to realize that yet (I’m not saying you are in the tea party, my husband forwarded me an email from a tea party friend not long ago, who seemed to be clueless. It was another of my WTF moments).
Back to Pink Floyd. In 1979, I believe, I had box seat tickets to see Pink Floyd’s The Wall tour in Madison Square Garden and came down with my first and last case of bronchitis.
I finally figured out what the core message of the OWS protesters is, “Fix This!!!” or “Fix It!!! (maybe with a few choice cuss words attached, ahem, for further emphasis).
Fix this bridge. Fix this school. Fix Wall Street!!!! Fix the economy. Fix the high unemployment.
Essentially, the OWS protesters are telling politicians in Washington and around the country, whatever political persuasion, “STFU, Fix It!!!!” “No more half-assed measures, no more 1 percenter protectionism, Fix It!!!!”
On the other hand, the Tea Party movement was a pre-emptive strike by the 1 percenters and their puppets to NOT fix what needs fixing, to NOT fix the economy, to NOT fix the abuses of Wall Street that almost crashed the U.S. and world economies in 2008, to NOT fix our highways, our bridges, our public schools, to NOT fix corporate corruption and corporate greed, to NOT fix the highest-income tax structure to make the oligarchs pay more to fix our nation.
So, the OWS, the real grassroots movement, is saying “Stop f*cking around, and Fix It!!!!!
On a related note, some guy years ago hung signs from bridges protesting Bush’s war in Iraq. He posted pictures of his work on the internet. Something similar could be done with desperately-needed infrastructure repairs in the U.S.. “Fix This Bridge!!!!” “Fix This School!!!!” “Fix This Fire Station!!!!” Just like the sign that OWS protesters tried to hang from that bridge saying “Fix This Bridge!!!” The U.S. should be papered with signs like this.
Hey, and obstructionist 1-percenter Republicans (and Blue Dog Democrats) on Capitol Hill could be promised their name on a repaired bridge, or whatever, in their district (or state), in exchange for voting for job-creating job-retaining infrastructure repair projects across America, and paying for these repairs by getting rid of tax loopholes for the wealthiest, raising the highest marginal income tax rate on the wealthiest and increasing the capital gains tax back to what it was decades ago. What egocentric Republican (or Blue Dog Democrat) politician wouldn’t jump at a chance like this? They wouldn’t have to even be dead to have their name put on one of these infrastructure projects. A win for everyone all the way around. (er, except for the 1-percenters who might see their great wealth shrink by a fraction, that is).
I was just as bad. I remember telling the doctor that I JUST HAD TO GO. Even though at that moment, in his office, I was so sick I couldn’t hold my head up.
the moon is playing peek a boo with the clouds here…. tis a classic halloween sky…. lotsa clouds to hide behind and that spooky effect as the moonshine tries to shine through the dark clouds
Could it be that all them rep critters & senate critters have decided on a collective master plan to appear like they’re all such busy bees workin’ on bills not meant to go anywhere, just draggin’ the kabooki on until the winter snows come and chase all them hippy Occupy Wall Streeters home?
I saw Wasserman-Schultz on Tweety this afternoon.
She put on a sickening display of ‘We Democrats certainly relate to the frustration of the American People, as the Republican’s intransigence drives this country off of a cliff. We are with you, OWS.’ meme.
She further suggested that Obama initiatives designed to ease the pain were the right prescription for the nation, and singled out Romney’s statements about corporations being peeps.
I think they are going to try a two-prong thing – usurp the movement (or just drive or drag it off-track), and hope the weather is really, really bad right quick.
At some point, OWS is going to have to attack politicians who try and snuggle up to them, and that will lead them right to the White House. Only after placing Obama at the head of the table of elites will OWS be able to stifle attempts by Dem critters and Senators to obstruct or derail.
Yeah, Debbie W-S has turned out to be a real dud. She continues to disappoint. I thought she had it, but she doesn’t. It’s hard to find a D or an R who really has any sense or integrity. It’s going to be a slog…..
I agree.
We will know whether this is just the first edition of OWS, or this is the real full-grown version, when the cops in a certain town break up a crowd and jail a bunch of folks and deal with then in less than polite fashion, only to have double the number arrive in the same spot the next day.
It would be great if the churches would take in some of the OWSers….and super if every cop and firefighter…and teachers, too, …. would take an OWSer home each night. We are the 99%. Indeed!
Exactly. I want a bumper sticker that says, “Throw the Bums Out!” And, frankly, that’s about all of them, far as I can tell. I mean, really, who is worth keeping?
I just published an FDL diary showing how the years 1933-1934 are almost mirror images of today. Excerpt:
“The election of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his promise to use federal dollars to create jobs for the masses of the unemployed had actually caused businesses to stop hiring, out of fear that FDR was marching the nation away from capitalisn into the path of socialism and reckless government spending. Sound familiar?”
Yes, I was really a fan of Garamendi as Insurance Commissioner in CA….he did correct things. My sister told me I was rude for sending my Rep (who I used to like) an email saying “You’re dead to me” after she voted for some Obummer monstrosity that I can’t even remember anymore. But, we got redistricted, so I don’t think she’s even my Rep. anymore.
No, it was actually Lois Capps, who inherited her deceased husband’s seat, but who actually served the district well for quite some time … even if she failed to make a name for herself (i.e., she never really stepped up.) When the redistricting was going on, I thought we were getting Elton Gallegly, but then I hear that he got shafted, so I don’t even yet know what my current district is all about. It will be interesting to see what transpires….and who steps in.
Hey folks.
I’m working with some of the Groups who did the Millionaire tours today, I think they are really powerful.
I predict that they right wing radio people will start to whine about their personal safety.
What they realy are be afraid of is their financial safety.
Yeah. I can’t remember which one exactly….something that put Social Security on the table…..which really torqued me. She didn’t have to do it, either. And her district has lots of retired people. She has the mid-Coast region….San Luis Obispo through Oxnard coast area. I don’t know who she thought she was catering to.
Spocko, I have so enjoyed your reports and educational material. Very good stuff. I hope the folks keep putting the pressure on the richie-riches. When I’m feeling most aggrieved, I want to put up a sign that says, “You take my house, and I’ll take your kid.” But, hey, for an old broad, I can get real aggressive. :)~
Did any of you see the “we are the 53%” crap that Erik Erikson was doing?
The right really have to be the victim all the time. They are bragging about how tough their life is
And they think the rich will give the credit for being hard working peasants.
They are not the 1% but “as a future rich person I support lower taxes on my millions.”
Of course the “53%” will benifit from higher taxes on the rich, and procecution of the Wall Street banksters, but they don’t want to admit it.
There is something unseemly about the upper class claiming the victim status. Really obnoxious. “Poor me” just makes them look uglier than they already appear.
Thanks Newtonusr and Dearie!
After the predictions of the retired military officer friend and myself proved correct, I did step two and alerted the media. Boing boing, CNN and the Guardian all did follow up about the agent provocatuer from American Spectator. I just wish I had a better response. AP,NYT and WSJ ignored it.
I guess I should be happy about that the Guardian, CNN and boing boing read my letters pushing Charlie’s stuff.
I always directed the media to his diary here at FDL.
I know nobody from Daily KOS called him up, helped prep him for calls with the press and they pitched his story to a dozen media outlets.
Of course this is another project I did pro bono because it needed to be done.
The American Spectator will probably give Howley a raise.
I suggested to Charlie what to do next, they publications need some third party official to act (police or museum) which will give them a news hook to write a follow up (oh I forgot Keith Olbermann talked about it)
I explained you need to do the work, make the news happen and they put it on a plate for the press.
When he does that I’ll help push it.
floyd
Very sharp work by Gilmour. Oh, like that’s a surprise…
Suz!
First off, here is an Elisabeth Warren parody that is really worth two minutes of your time:
Youtube Video
Aloha, Suz, this is still one of my all-time fave tunes…! Besides Comfortably Numb…

aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? i saw on your lln post that you are on the mt tonight through sat … ka-ching!
So I was talking to my dog this afternoon. I was eating cheese and she was mooching tidbits.
She said “You know, Dad, the thing I like most about mooching cheese is : I get cheese.”
more rain. not constant but when a band moves through, its a heavy downpour instead of the showers. and the air feels like winter *brrr* its 55 outside but it feels a whole lot more like 45
token feels that way about peanut butter
That was great! Elizabeth Warren rocks…..I’ll bet she’d get a huge kick out of the video.
money
dearie! how’s the so central ca coast tonight?
My dog loves both cheese and peanut butter. She also thinks she is entitled to at least half the glass of milk anyone is drinking. Beer and OJ works too. And the little mercenary steals things and won’t give it up unless she is paid a ransom.

tuez! how was your day? token’s particularly fond of the wee bit of milk left in the bowl from a bowl of cereal.
they can sure tire ya out, eh… and there was two of them and only one of you …
Yes, the sun is out this week. We got snow two days (it didn’t stick). Now I just have to find some motivation. I think I left it in my other coat.
how much more do ya have to do to be able to prepare for winter off the grid?
Yep, I’m only acclimatizing tonite for half of it and I’ll be able to get some sleep later at Hale Pohaku…! It’s only for 4 nites, not 5 as they first asked…! No outside work all 4 nites tho…! Easy Money…! I plan on capturing some footage of the Full Moon tomorrow nite…!

I really should pay more attention to local news.
dave’s diary
Interesting. He’s still polling well…..but I can’t really imagine the R’s accepting him…..except to get at Obama.
And if anyone else is as fond of Elizabeth Warren as I am, watch 4cdave’s youtube video (see #3)……..it’s really funny…and short.
jeebus tuez…. i can totally picture you up on the roof painting a sign to be read by AF1
i hate it when that happens. i fall prey to ‘i’ll do it tomorrow’ far too often
That’s a hoot! What would you have written?

I suppose that depends on how big a roof she has.
and what kinda roof — can write more on a flat roof than a traditional triangle roof

Well, maybe that was good thing, Suz…! Wasn’t that the infamous Hell’s Angels dust-up…?
Yes, another enters the 99% club.
i was highly indignant — i’m not a kid i’m a teen how the fork could i have a forking kid disease kinda thoughts… couldn’t say a one of them tho…
Btw, I just got back from a smoke break outside and that Moon sure is purty looking…! I can even see Maui Mom’s Haleakalau off in the distance…! ;-)
hey oracle — how ya been?

I was just as bad. I remember telling the doctor that I JUST HAD TO GO. Even though at that moment, in his office, I was so sick I couldn’t hold my head up.
AHA!!! NDAs expired, the reviews for Bulldozer have just appeared. Night, peeps, I have to geek out.

Could it be that all them rep critters & senate critters have decided on a collective master plan to appear like they’re all such busy bees workin’ on bills not meant to go anywhere, just draggin’ the kabooki on until the winter snows come and chase all them hippy Occupy Wall Streeters home?
robert! how’s soPA tonight?
Yes, but spring comes soon enough.
And there is always LL Bean in the interim.
Indian Summer is over, cold & rain creeping in even now as I reply….
my first reaction to hearing about the ‘iran plan’ to assassinate folks here in the us was that this was timed to draw media attention away from #ows
tis the bright shiny thong to distract while other things that need covering gets ignored
Yeah, Debbie W-S has turned out to be a real dud. She continues to disappoint. I thought she had it, but she doesn’t. It’s hard to find a D or an R who really has any sense or integrity. It’s going to be a slog…..
Maybe the churches will take OWSers in at night so the crusade can go on throughout the winter….
*brrr* time for soups and stews and spice cakes
Indeed!
time will tell…. there were folks who didn’t think the protestors in wi last winter would have any staying power….
Once they folded just once on so-called health care, or so-called finance reform, they had cast their lot.
Their fortunes are tied to him now. I wish them all the success commensurate with the political bravado and wisdom they have shown.
Sleeping in the pews of God’s house. Yep, that will steal Jesus back from those Ayn Randers that kidnapped him.
The message has to be chanted into those police officers heads that them bankster gangsters are coming for their pensions as well….
Ah, a wise man once said…
I meant to ask (because I haven’t looked yet), anyone know how many showed up in Boston after last night’s events?
Exactly. I want a bumper sticker that says, “Throw the Bums Out!” And, frankly, that’s about all of them, far as I can tell. I mean, really, who is worth keeping?
i’ve not been on twitter much today :( i’m so far behind in news info that i’m in danger of losing my news junkie status
I’m fond of John Garamendi, but even he is without the courage to completely disassociate himself from O and his followers.
But, we got redistricted, so I don’t think she’s even my Rep. anymore.
there are many similarities between this era and those that came decades before it…
That would be the odious Ellen Tauscher, who if I’m not mistaken works for Hillary at State on nuke proliferation issues.
Heck, you might have Jerry McNerney as your rep.
I’m a big Garamendi fan myself….
Yep. But Obama has put a stranglehold on policy and the politics – Dem Reps, especially the good ones, have no home.
They all will be conveniently ‘out of town’ when TeamObama™ rolls into their districts for a campaign stop.
It’ll be interesting to see the baggers make a choice between the black president or the guy with that weird religion.
I think religion will save Obama’s ass.
Lois Capps went for an Obama atrocity?
That’s sad. I liked her, too.
Turnout. This is the ultimate turnout election.
Hey folks.
I’m working with some of the Groups who did the Millionaire tours today, I think they are really powerful.
I predict that they right wing radio people will start to whine about their personal safety.
What they realy are be afraid of is their financial safety.
Yep. The religious right will sit the election out if its a choice between Romney or Obama….
i think what happens with #ows is gonna factor in too…
Yeah. I can’t remember which one exactly….something that put Social Security on the table…..which really torqued me. She didn’t have to do it, either. And her district has lots of retired people. She has the mid-Coast region….San Luis Obispo through Oxnard coast area. I don’t know who she thought she was catering to.
hey spocko — how ya doing tonight?
And the middle of the country (once thought to be Obama’s electoral salvation) hates them both.
•••••
Hey spocko – I reread your fine piece very closely again today. Fine work.
That would be great.
Did any of you see the “we are the 53%” crap that Erik Erikson was doing?

There is something unseemly about the upper class claiming the victim status. Really obnoxious. “Poor me” just makes them look uglier than they already appear.
congrats on snaggin the happy lucky 100 dearie!!!
Saved you from yourself, Suz! I do enjoy your evening salons. You are a lovely host to us late, laters.
I cannot bring myself to read it. Thanks for doing so.
thanks dearie…. tis my “monday” night and we know that tends to up the odds of me accidently snagging it
Thanks Newtonusr and Dearie!
The American Spectator will probably give Howley a raise.
you did some fantastic work spocko. is there a plan to keep pushing at this story?
I suggested to Charlie what to do next, they publications need some third party official to act (police or museum) which will give them a news hook to write a follow up (oh I forgot Keith Olbermann talked about it)
I explained you need to do the work, make the news happen and they put it on a plate for the press.
When he does that I’ll help push it.
sweet. thanks for the update spocko
