The German Parliament approved an expansion of the European bailout fund, the EFSF, today, agreeing to a two month-old solution in the European banking crisis that has already been rendered obsolete. The sweeping nature of the passage, however, provided a signal to the world that Germany will meet responsibilities to Greece.

Montana’s Democratic Governor Brian Schweitzer believes his state should follow Vermont’s lead in progressive health care reform at the state level. He plans to ask the federal government to grant Montana waivers to adopt a better system modeled after the one used in the neighboring Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

When I first heard about the ruling from a federal judge in the Alabama immigration law case, I thought that most of the more egregious aspects of the law were enjoined. Only upon further inspection did I realize that the judge declined to issue a preliminary injunction for some of the most controversial parts.

Nevada AG Masto Gets Up to $57,000 Per Homeowner in Morgan Stanley Settlement |

Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto just reached a settlement with investment bank Morgan Stanley for up to $40 million, over deceptive practices in mortgage lending and securitization.
This may seem like a small number, but Morgan Stanley was not a big player in Nevada, and the case itself involves just a small slice of mortgages.
