The Supreme Court made the rare decision to step in and order a stay of execution for Duane Edward Buck in Texas, hours before he was to die, because the jury sentencing him to death was told that Buck posed a greater threat to public safety because of his race.

The justices still must determine whether they will review the Buck case, so this stay may not last very long.

In my fevered imagination, this would have been a group of highly trained young (or young-looking) women sacrificing themselves to seduce rich bozos so they could soak up as much loot as they could, and turn a chunk of that loot over to worthy causes. The really successful ones would, if they could either stomach their catches for the long haul or were able to make them bearable as life partners, wind up in the guys’ wills.
