The New York Post, Rupert Murdoch’s chief American tabloid enterprise (yes, I know, the Wall Street Journal is still technically a broadsheet even after he bought it, but still), and purveyor of stinky turds posing as journalism, dropped a particularly, um, fragrant one the other day.

Tea Partiers resemble the selfish fools who swarmed the Titanic’s lifeboats, knocking women and children out of the way, more than they resemble the band of 18th century protestors who dumped some tea into Boston Harbor.
Once again, conservative apologists are blaming lone “jerks” for the terrible outburst at the last GOP presidential debate. Oh how they abhor accountability. Cynical leaders and empty-minded followers create a climate of hatred and violence and then when the unpardonable happens, the creators scurry for cover.
Shouting “Yay!” to Wolf Blitzer’s question about whether Ron Paul recommends letting the unlucky and uninsured die, the Tea Party crowd simply revealed the gaping hole in its soul.

Can Congressional Republicans Ever Be So Unpopular that the Buck Stops with the Speaker of the House? |
| By: Jon Walker Sunday September 18, 2011 8:10 am |
The fact that Democrats manage to make themselves the less unpopular of the two major parties should be good political news, but in two special Congressional elections this week the Democratic candidates significantly underperformed. It seems that the bad economy and extreme gridlock is making everyone in Washington unpopular, particularly the Congressional Republicans.

This Sunday’s bobbleheads include the architects of almost everything that’s wrong with American foreign and domestic policy. Mass arrests or at least spikes in tomato prices should follow, but they won’t.

Years and years and years ago, my cousin Betsy and my brother both lived up in Vermont. The rest of us ventured up there every Thanksgiving for good eats, good drinks and good company. It really was the classic over-the-river-and-through-the woods holiday.
Betsy was a computer scientist working out of a lab at Dartmouth College and one fateful year she introduced me to the computer game Adventure – now known as Colossal Cave Adventure. Mind you, there was no monitor connected to her terminal, these were the days pre-PC, it was all text and imagination. But I was instantly hooked on those twisty mazes of little passages, I played and played and played all through that weekend until early Sunday morning when I blew the fuse.
