Only Rich People Can Love America, Everyone Else Must Love Rich People |
| By: Attaturk Wednesday September 21, 2011 1:30 am |
It is a day ending in “Y” it must be time to call Democrats traitors.
There’s no nation ripe and awaiting a good thorough bombing, so it must be about really rich people having to pay a few more dollars in taxes, like Ronald Reagan required — only less.
Well, we cannot have that.

Late Night FDL: Dumb and Dangerous Patrol |
| By: Lisa Derrick Tuesday September 20, 2011 8:00 pm |
I just got back from watching a taping of two episodes for Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers and I think Dr Drew needs to have Andrew Breitbart and John Hagee on to get some hugs. And not from Rick Perry.
Nikki Haley Refuses to Let Facts Get in the Way of Policy |
| By: Eli Tuesday September 20, 2011 6:01 pm |
Nikki Haley’s cherished factoid about job applicants failing drug tests is shown to be wildly bogus, she continues to push for drug testing of the unemployed anyway.
Do You Have to Work for Peter G. Peterson to Be Cited on Budget Issues in the Washington Post? |
| By: Dean Baker Tuesday September 20, 2011 5:00 pm |
That’s the question that readers are undoubtedly asking after seeing this piece on President Obama’s budget proposals. The piece featured three separate cites from Maya MacGuineas, who is the president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. (One cite included unnamed “others.”) The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget has received substantial funding from Peterson and his foundation over the years.
DADT Repeal: Celebrate Now but Remember the Enemies at the Gate |
| By: Alvin McEwen Tuesday September 20, 2011 4:05 pm |
Today’s repeal of DADT is a day which many gays and lesbians have been fighting for and waiting to see for a long time.
And of course, there will be a lot of celebrations.
With that in mind, pardon me for being the “one who lapped up the water like a dog ” (it’s a Biblical reference from the book of Gideon) by checking out what folks on the other side of the DADT repeal feel about this historic day.
Reid Ups Ante, Says He Won’t Back Down on Disaster Relief Funding |
| By: David Dayen Tuesday September 20, 2011 3:20 pm |
What the Republicans are doing is saying that a natural disaster must cause government accounts to drop. It assumes there’s a finite amount of money available for spending, and if a hurricane blows through your house, someone else, in this case hybrid vehicle manufacturers, have to pay for it. Now, the Chevy Volt had nothing to do with the hurricane. But they’re bearing the burden for rebuilding after the storm.
This is completely unprecedented in the history of the nation and defies common sense; that’s why Reid is fighting it, to make sure it doesn’t become a new normal.
Money for Directly Hiring People Popular, Payroll Tax Cut Not Popular |
| By: Jon Walker Tuesday September 20, 2011 2:25 pm |
I think it is very interesting that the most expensive provision in the bill, the payroll tax cut, is also the only idea that lacks majority support. The idea is not particular popular with Republicans/Republican leaners (41%) or Democrats/Democratic leaners (52%).
