Aloha, Suz and lln pups, from atop Mauna Kea…!
Suz, that’s a good one.
How’s things?
aloha tut — how’s is the rest of paradise tonight?
hey newton – glad ya liked it? how was your day?
I had no idea my cat was the subject of a Muppet segment ;)
Paperwork day. Listened to tunes and plussed-up my carpal tunnel.
hey tuez — *laughing* how ya doing tonight?
It was pretty soggy Island wide today as I headed up here…! Easy money again, since I’m not heading outside at all, except to smoke…! ;-)
We’re getting lower in temps!
So Tuttle is up on the Mountain in HI and remember OMB? He’s up at Point Barrow AK right now.
Iz like all my peepz are everywhere extreme…Volcano? check. Tundra? Check.
ouch as busted says, i hate it when that happens
ka-ching!
Newtie and Tuez!
I’d be better if you took my cat.
She’s spayed, up to date on shots, house broke (really, hates a litter box) and keeps to herself. And hasn’t clawed the puppy’s eyes out yet, which is good.
Am I wrong, or is Busted in the drivers-seat for the title of 21st Century Prophet?
Friends and Country-persons…hello!
It’s only supposed to hit 81 the next 2 days. Yippee.
I can turn the AC off.
Cheap me, keeps it at 83 anyway.
i forking love reading his posts. my mother loves reading his posts!
Did you get that job?
hey ce — how’s cleveland tonight?
*snoopy happy dance*
No – at least not yet.
But you know how it is, the longer you don’t hear “yes”…
You, I have a kitchen tech question:
That famous apple pie of yours – splain what’s to keep the crust from remaining this dome-shaped structure, and the apples to break and settle in the bottom, leaving a huge air-cave between upper-crust and fruit… is it the shortening?
“I thought I couldn’t afford to take her out and smoke as well. So I gave up cigarettes. Then I took her out and one day I looked at her and thought: “Oh well,” and I went back to smoking again, and that was better.”__Benny Hill
So filled with rain that I had do drive in the “In” lanes to get out of the city. We are super saturated with rain.
hey robert — how’s soPA tonight?
yikes.. hope you have sunny skies before mr ce returns home
Citizen CTuttle:
Aloha Brother CTut…thanks for sharin’ the view from your mountain, it doesn’t matter that I can’t see nuthin’ but black ‘cuz my memory of the sky in your part of the planet is still intact. How are they hangin’ there old timer?
(Back in a moment – phone call I can’t believe from the wayback machine!)
He will be back, hopefully, by 11:00 p.m. tomorrow. We expect rain all weekend.
Going to be highs in upper forties, windy with lotsa rain for the next couple days.
Drinking my green tea and munching my lemon cake.
Comfy inside….
hey norske — how’s wisconsin tonight, comrade?
Well hopefully soon.
You and my husband are in different fields, so the “BS” etiquette is probably way different.
Today for the first time in a long time I actually felt happy. Don’t know why, other than the “normalcy” of both of us working.
i’m sure having him back home will brighten your day even more than the sun could…
And looking for firewood for the winter.
Aw — I love him. And miss him.
Very funny Muppets,Suz. Thank you!
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight? glad you liked it
If I hear one more fuckin’ word, description, plan for firewood I’m probably going to implode. oy.
My husband was an International Sales manager for a major crafts/arts manufacturer for 20 years. We had many excellent discussions involving different companies and their goals.
My husband who provided firewood in his spare time, for his family and my parents……………………..
that man has only firewood to procure now. He’s a good man.
If he tells me his plans for firewood too many more times,…..I’m going to nail him on the back side of his head with the cast iron pan. Just saying!
fuck unemployment
supercats
Aloha, Norske…! It’s a gorgeous nite for stargazing, and the crescent moon is a lovely sight…! There’s only two of us up here tonite for Keck Observatory, everybody’s remotely operating the domes from Waimea town and even Australia…! ;-)
woof woof, meow. Hiya kids, Occupy Wall St, got my sign ready for tomorrow.
Citizen Suzanne:
Hey there Sweetness, been a big week here in the heartland a democracy and anus of progress…at least in the Norske barrio. Youngest daughter presented her thesis proposal just a year into her program and will be presentin’ a poster in one of her professional clambakes this Spring. Older daughter just shiftin into high gear in her tenure year, coachin’ girls hoops and startin her Masters and son got lassoed into another stint as department head (English) while coachin our second granddaughter’s soccer team (9-10 year olds). And Norske and the Mrs. Norske are busy playin “wedding planners” for the older daughter’s wedding next Memorial weekend.
Politics here has a smooth continuity from one crisis and hassle to another but it’s all good…city council and school board are gunna be a real surprise for some a the folks around here and if the “players” in Madison and the progressive coalition can ever get it together we might have some real fun startin’ in January with recall petitions.
How’s Grandmotherhood…it’s a real kick ain’t it?
We used to sing this at summer camp, but with a different melody and it was old Mr. Johnson instead of young Bennie:

*making note to never piss off openhope*
You have to pack the pie tight as possible to begin with, and then when you drape the top crust dough? You gotta poosh out as much air as you can.
It will still separate a bit at the vents you cut in it, but yes, the ig deal is to have a bit more shortening in the crust dough. Say, increase the shortening by a tablespoon or thereabouts. But still don’t overwork it.
Crust Is Tricky. Likes its ingredients, hates to be overworked.
hey bg — how’s nm tonight? what does your sign say?
Hoping for those recalls in January, Norske!
Good! Ya feel good because it is finally goddamn normal and THAT is good!
Perfect. Thanks.
I saw a pie recently that suffered this unusual fate – the apples settled more than you would expect, releasing a huge amount of water, and the crust stiffened way too early.
grandmahood is forking wonderful norske — i can’t recommend it highly enough.
my jen got married on memorial day 3 years ago — and my grandbaby is the happy result of that union. julianna has her first tooth and is sitting up — i can tell when she’s on her belly that she’s itching to go and is just a hairs breath away from being mobile. can ya believe its already been almost 6 months?
hey blue — how ya doing tonight?
My sign says, “Arab Spring, Wall St. Fall.” My sister has come to town for the weekend to “help out” (for a change) so I decided to make a sign and go to the OWS in Santa Fe, there’s one in ABQ also, but that’s too far.
I cannot really forking believe that. We are getting old, she won’t be a baby for long, so love every second of it!
Citizen CTuttle:
Enjoy Brother CT…the sky is like sex-it’s here ta stay (just a little more reliable. You deserve it brother.
october 9th she will be 6 months. i swear, she looks just like her mom did at that age, just with different hair…
What a terrific motto.
Now I know why I always wanted to fork the sky….
bg makes wonderful signs. she’s shared them with us at late night before — i wish i was that creative…
aTOOTH!!! that is what is unforkingreal to me!
kiss the sky
I so wish I could be there. Thank you.
LOL, my FB only seems to have photos of me at demonstrations. From now on when they ask what I do on the contribution forms, I guess I should quit saying “artist” and just say “protester.”
she popped it out last week when my mom was here. she never got cranky, didn’t run any fevers — just has been a perpetual drool machine and was sleeping a wee bit longer a couple days before it emerged
activist artist has a nice ring to it…
I was totally bummed that the OWS in ABQ is tomorrow, so when I found out there is one in SF, I decided to just go. Since I can. I gotta. I am so into it, it is the only thing giving me hope now.
OK, I guess. A friend and I went to downtown Los Angeles to see the Vaux’s swifts as they fly in huge numbers in counterclockwise circles at sunset (and tonight was a Maxfield-Parrish-like multi-hued sunset) before descending into the chimney of a building at Broadway and Fifth. They had to avoid the ravens lurking on the lip of the chimney, and a few of the swifts got picked off. If I were going to draw a political moral from this, I’d say that we’re the swifts, just trying to get home safely, and the banksters are the ravens, trying to pick us off.
please let us know how it went bg
That’s great, except it really is a sign of how fast the time goes. Shoot. She will be going to kindergarten any minute, before long. They are having Homecoming at the HS here at LM’s, and there was a parade I had to wade through to get to the bookkeeper today. Some adorabledorabledorabledorable little girls in their tutus and such. You know I want to send one to Jujube. They are just too cute.
we have that up here in portland too — they swoop down into the huge chimney at chapman school at sunset – here’s a video of it
the school doesn’t turn on its heat until after they have finished their migration…
I’ll give you a report tomorrow. There should be some good signs, the SF crowd should be clever. I should take out my camera batteries tonight and charge them up so I can post some photos.
oh yeah, i’d love to see pictures. that would make a great diary bg — your story and your pictures
I hate the fact that so many incredibly qualified people are being sidelined. Fuck.
On the other hand, what would my family do without the ability to provide heat all winter for free, with good neighbor buddy wood cutting?
It’s harsh, but the reality is that life shifts with Unemployment.
No, I can’t hit him over the head about his talking about procuring of wood, because I’m doing the same with food which is equally dull to talk about. And he probably has the same response under control. I don’t have those filters!
We Have To Have Art. period.
You are an artist.
your determination to be self-sufficient in spite of everything is an inspiration – i seriously covet your pantry
cats
Yes, that’s how it looked, although we didn’t have the funkadelic soundtrack on the roof of Joe’s parking structure.
The building whose chimney they use is being condo-ized next year, but according to the Audubon guy, the condo owners will still let the swifts use the chimney.
“If you hold a cat by the tail you learn things you cannot learn any other way.”__Mark Twain
up here, the swifts have to be aware of the hawks…
it’s been the second warmest september on record in pdx this year — was a warmer sept than july — so the little kids at chapman don’t have to wear their coats and caps in class this year. the school only fires up the boiler after the swifts are all gone and the parents support the school’s decision totally.

some good news outta congress just came across my twitter feed:
There’s a Marcus Bachmann joke there somewhere…
Great news, Suz!

Looks like everybody is reasonably well, happy, and having fun here tonight. I’ve been working on this novel of mine all day, about to go down to the recliner and pencil some more notes in the next three chapters of the previous draft.
BTW, no protests for me. Don’t have the temperment for all that non-violence stuff. Back in her copper days Suzanne would have picked me out of the crowd right away and told her troops, “Keep an eye on that guy”. (I’m also sorta, like, waaaay too big to miss.)
Hey Pups,
Nothing like forty forking degrees and being at hour 36 of a forking power outage. Looking at 10% of laptop battery just to connect and log in, here. I likes camping but not so much in my own forking house.
Fiction is a very tough racket. Best of luck with your book.
Spoke too soon, BP
hey bp — how ya doing tonight? i used to joke with dr kirk that back in the day, we wudda been on opposite sides of the protest lines…. i never wudda thought that i would be buddies with an eco-activist and he would chime in with he never thought he would be buddies with a cop
strange how that all works out
hey nonq — oh noes! any idea when your power will be back on? can ya recharge your laptop and cellphone using your car power adapter?
Now, that’s funny! I wonder how many of us would have been on Suzanne’s radar?
Dogs have Owners, Cats have Staff.
cat power
Homeland forking security, nobody in the county including the pop-radio stations is getting any kind of information out as to when things might be fixed. Five days after notification of impending severe high winds, WI Public Service puts out a press release 16 hours into the outage that they are positioning extra crews from other parts of the state.
But good news is kite surfing is really fun if you are young and stupid enough to get out there.
Not me. I was very polite when I was younger; have been more active in the last 12 years than I was during the ’60′s.

yikes… are you able to stay warm? cook food? one thing i loved about my cabin in boulder creek was i had gas heat and gas stove and gas hot water heater. i could cook and stay warm and shower when the power went out — i lost power a lot in the winters when the heavy rains plus big redwood trees plus sandy soil equals power lines down
hey dearie — how ya doing tonight?
Love the Frost quote. I was a quintessential Good Girl in my youth…..then I figured it out and have been a shit kicker ever since. Glad I didn’t waste my outrage before I even figured out what to be outraged about.
congrats on snagging the happy lucky 101 dearie!!!
(it doesn’t count as the happy lucky 100 if i snag it welcoming someone to the thread)
Doing well enough, Suzanne…..a little, well a lot, pissed off at Bank of America announcing they will try another method of charging me to use my own money. Shoulda ditched them years ago……..
Link to the rule book, please….
Thanks Suz,
Yes, I’m pretty well equipped and ready for this sort of thing. I could think of a few things our home state national guard personnel could be doing if they were not being killed and maimed in other countries.
I don’t know how you do it!!! Magic. And I know you aren’t even trying. Just cracks me up. Won the lottery yet?
i’m so glad i ditched the big banks and switched to a credit union when i moved up here
i have not had a single regret since i did so
its my party
no kidding…. bring them home.
now
its all the fault of my blasted cousin murphy.. him and his forking law….

evening, firegods
hey ppd — how was your day?
Unbelievably busy this week
i hope it was busy in a good way — and that you get some down time this weekend
On a private well, no power equals no well pump, but plenty to cook with and drink. Hat and jacket and gloves and winter quilt on the bed. The next town south had power back earlier today. Utility crews will go up the county main lines all the way over to the island, before they start restoring the side roads. Gas heat but without the electronic ignition, thermostat and circulating pumps, it is useless.
Mostly worried about all the frozen produce and berries from the garden at the moment. A lot of effort into putting up that stuff.
Gotta get some sleep, Suz. Thanks again for a lovely LLN.
signing off so I might check PUAC tomorrow. Sweet dreams.
Gosh, I hope it’s cold enough that all those green beans and things you harvested will make it through!
yikes.. fingers and toes crossed things stay frozen
g’nite dearie
g’nite nonq
tis about time for me to head out peeps. i’ll be getting up before the crack of noon tomorrow to make sure i am sufficiently caffeinated ahead of time so i can make calls to members tomorrow afternoon. if your phone rings and ya don’t know who its from and you are a member, it could very well be me or one of the other participants in the membership engagement team calling you to welcome ya to the members association.
hope to see ya tomorrow night for sat nite cartoons.
g’nite all
It helped to have my brother here Wed & Thurs to cover Mom so I could get my work done.
