About Firedoglake
Mornin’, BT, pups
I can remember when the NRA was all about the weapons used in killing defenseless animals.
Now it’s an automatic weapon in every home, like a chicken in every pot.
LaPierre has been batshit crazy for a while.
For all you kids who lived under the “duck & cover” reign of terror, look what the kids are going through today.
Operation Mountain Guardian conducted in Denver last week. The feds are preparing for another false flag, er I mean terrorist attack.

Well, at least Jones’ name appears in the link so I didn’t have to waste a click. Thanks for not using hypertext.
“How will the Roberts court rule on ACA?”
Nobody should forget that the ACA is a conservative concoction. Not only will the US Supreme Court will rule in favor of the ACA, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if Roberts ruled in favor, and/or if it were passed with an even greater margin than 5-4.
The USSC ruled in favor of corporations in Kelo v. City of New London and Citizens United v. FEC. Why wouldn’t they rule in favor of virtually all Americans being captive consumers to the health insurance industry now? The more conservative politicians can exploit the public’s dislike of the individual mandate say the ruling happened because the USSC is “too liberal” and that all our branches of government need to go even further to the right! Unfortunately, I think too many Americans would buy into that fat lie.
Morning Joke pushing Christie HARD.
We gotta watch fatman to see if goes on a diet. Than we’ll know he’s really serious.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPEt5soGoyI&feature=related
That might be a tough choice for him: carbs or leader of the free world.
Do you really think I’m gonna click on that?
It might, repeat might, make the “debates” a little more interesting.
Oh, I agree.
There has been a fat prez, Taft. I suppose it’s possible to have both. I think I read that Taft had to have a bigger bathtub put into the WH.
It’s a video of Freedom of Choice by Devo.
He wants to avoid the debates. He wants to be coronated.
Too bad. Once you’ve posted a link to Alex Jones I won’t ever click on a link you post unless I know what it is beforehand.
Do we want a thin Goebbels or a fat Goering, that is the question?
Hey pupses, good morning. Thanks, BT.
I’m just thankful there wasn’t a photo of Christie. Those nasty old vultures were bad enough, but I’d rather share my breakfast with a vulture than be faced with a whale omelette.
Mika: “He (Christie) has more raw talent than Obama had.”
Joe must have nailed her last night.
U.S. had torturer appointed gov of Khandahar province (democracynow); Afghan warlord. Name something like Abdul Rahdij. Yawn.
Ewwwwww gross.
He maybe is already but gluttony knows no bounds.
Wasn’t he one of the replacement AGs from bush firing those 8 with any morals.
Christy killed an investigation into the Murdock spying scandal as bush’ AG?
Perfect pick to carry on the bush treason .
Christie: a mean, overweight, aging white male. That’s good for 50 million votes in the general election.
“It will be a win for everyone,” said Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Circlejerk).
Every time he exhales the slightest bit to relieve the pressure, the anaconda tightens a little more.
We are governed by cowards and idiots.
Good morning all
I think Christy is like Perry they both are bad for their states. When Christy starts his talk about cutting the government he will be dismissed just as Perry has been. I think Romney will win the nomination and the Democrats will lose big in the 2012 election. This is of course speculation but my 2 cents.
Reid appears meek and mild mannered but he didn’t stay in the Senate this long or get to be Majority Leader by acting that way behind the scenes. Too bad he’s put all that effort into becoming just another fascist.
The D govs are no better. Cuomo (NY) is to the right of Christie.
Obama doesn’t want to take guns away from Americans, he just wants Mexican drug lords to have more of them; your stimulus dollars at work. Enjoy.
So true, so true that’s why I think when we rest our hopes on the electoral process we are going to be disappointed. Disobedient protests are the only thing that will change the situation. My health prohibits me from events like Occupy Wall Street but I wish I was there.
Chris Hedges in his book “The World as it is” paints a gloomy picture for the future if people do not start an uprising. Let’s hope the youth continue their passion. Sorry about the rant.
Cuomo has been a huge disappointment to me. I (mistakenly) thought that he had inherited a little of his Dad’s sensibilities. Silly me…
I would have been happier thinking that he was totally ineffective. Please don’t take my blinders off this early, SD, or at least hand me a pair of rose coloured glasses.
1) Shutdown delayed. let’s call a duck a duck.
2) TheMOTU’s have adjusted. We need to take the protests to their residences.
3) Christie?!? The GOP money men must really hate Mitt and must really think Perry screwed the pooch.
4) I’m gonna guess 7-2 upheld, with Scalia and Thomas in the minority. And Thomas writing an almost incomprehensable dissent.
5) The automatic weapons ban did little good, just inflamed the far right. Let the citizens have all the guns they want, but lock ‘em up hard when they abuse that right.
Boxturtle (law abiding gun owner. Like almost all gun owners)
How can you mock the man who vetoed the Snooki Tax Credit?
That was a pretty civilized rant :)
He’s the Evan Bayh of governors.
Yes I agree both parties Gov’s and the whole electoral process is a farce. I was just referring to the Republican side. Personally I am finished with D’s and R’s.
I’m rapidly coming to the conclusion that voting infantilizes the population, like a pacifier. It gives the (false) impression of choice, while keep the 99%ers from other actions.
Sometimes I can come up with good ones. *g*
has the mutt romney pagan done something really disturbing again that takes him finally out of contention?
I really wish we could put some sense into gun laws. Stop with this different rules in different areas. Stop with the waiting periods. Register and test shoot every gun, so the law knows where to go when a gun is misused.
The rules the left puts or tries to put on gun ownership seem awfully similar to the rules the right wants to put on abortion. Waiting periods. “Education”. Massive regulation of providors. The point of both is the same: Ban something that is not only legal, but constitutionally protected.
Boxturtle (*grump*)
Yes, I hate to say it but what the Republican field is missing in a viscerally mean candidate like Christie. (The self-effacement with the fatty jokes = pent up rage?)
Rage is the red meat that is missing for some of the electorate.
Then, Christie can serve it to the right and Obama will know how to meet him on the left with his “you’re a racist if you don’t agree with me” schtick. Ugly & dangerous politics for ugly & dangerous times.
Draft Herman Cain as Veep and the campaign slogan can be, “Free-Market Pizza and Sandwiches for Everybody!”
Morning BT & Pups of Fire.
All that money spent on campaigns. I’m surprised the 1% haven’t come up with a better and cheaper way to buy the pols. If they could just cut the voters completely out of the process their bribes would ultimately be a lot less.
with you on tat boxturtle, I think the left is on the wrong side of gun laws and the right is too extreme, there are very few people in america who do not believe in gun “rights” but there are even fewer people in america who do not believe in “gun control”, there is a balance somewhere in there
That’s why this clip bears repeating. I hand it off to right-wingers every chance I get. It’s pretty hard for them to argue with it…
2d segment on democracynow was post office. Union rep correctly got union busting agenda, but missed the looting of the pension fund.
must go and earn, see all later
Don’t forget the MOTU’s who run the cowards and idiots.
Boxturtle (What, you think Boehner gets dressed in the morning without calling a Koch?)
Able and Cain
Fixed it for ya.
Rage is the red meat that is missing for some of the electorate.
Where I live (the Detroit suburbs), there seems to be a bumper crop of rage, at least in the faces of drivers I encounter on the local roads. The worst offenders? Aging white males who gun their engines and give you the hairy eyeball if you’re not going fast enough for them.
ROR on campaign contributions is over 1000%. Seems pretty cheap to me.
like someone said above..eeeewwwwwwwww
What is your ROR on campaign contributions?
Copy that.
When you’ve got people who shoot themselves or somebody else while cleaning their weapon that should tell ya the level of education and safety we’ve achieved.
We all deserve to feel enraged at what’s happened to our Republic.
This country was being pushed by the oligarchy to go fascist in the 1930s as Gen. Smedley Butler exposed, but there was an FDR to prevent it.
Now? Well, we already are in a Fascist State, it’s just that the brutality and ugliness are at an early stage.
Very nice.
The trolls must have slept in this morning…
Wait. Aren’t you supposed to do an ammo check by looking down the barrel? heh
I have democracynow on another window so Ill play the Carlin clip when it’s over.
Were you online after I learned that Carlin’s mother worked on Madison Avenue? They discussed endlessly at dinner how to manipulate with words, which is one reason why Carlin is so good at it.
Return..On…?
help
What campaign contributions? The only time I ever gave was when we were deluded to contribute to Blue America. Never before, and never again.
“Fat” was once a mark of “success” during the Gilded Age. Christie’s weight shouldn’t be an issue for those in the corporate media and the Beltway Brahmans pining for those “golden days.” If he begins growing mutton chops then there is no doubt he’ll run.
Rate of Return. Corps, of course, as econobuzz was quick to point out in 52.
Heh, look at the former CEO of Exxon/Mobil. There was a living, breathing Jabba the Hutt.
An unarticulated thought like that was sloshing thru my brain. Thanks for completing it for me. So much like Gilded Age, only the costumes need to be revived.
thx
Gotta fly to paint my daughters ceiling in her bedroom. Everyone have a great day.
The fat man was deeply involved in the USAG politization scandal. If he were to run and get the nomination, you can bet the store that Holder will bring out the stuff they are holding back. No doubt Christie knows this, and will not run.
you, too!
Great clip. And to think I had to read a 688 page book to learn that!
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.
US KIA Afghanistan: 1,787
US KIA Irak: 4,476
Iraki, Afghan and Pakistani casualties: estimates vary to over 1.5M
US MBS 2011: 33,356 and counting
Just For Now
No war but class war
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things
Namaste
Never. Give. Up.
I’m off. Be well.
Thanks
Holder has his marching orders from above. “Look Forward” is the watch word. Christie need not fear.
Yeah, no argument. Gun owners need to know how to use their guns safely.
But how much training does it take to say “Here’s how to make sure your gun is unloaded” or “be careful where you point it” or “This is the safety”. We don’t require drivers to be experts, just know the laws and basically how the car operates.
Boxturtle (Most things about guns are just common sense)
And the reason they’re not bringing that stuff out NOW is…..?
Boxurtle (Yeah, Yeah, I know. Looking forward)
Beat me to it. What are you drinking?
Boxturtle (In fairness, it could also be in the name of bipartisanship)
Yea, they found the dog sleeping in Magic undies and that’s all she wrote.
I’m no big gun afficionado, but I’m sure as hell glad the founders had them.
No one knew the enemy of Oligarchism / Empire / Fascism, call it what you will, any better than those who volunteered to be hung as traitors to the crown should their struggle fail.
But common sense is what is lacking in many cases. Tragically.
take care, SD.
Join the Military if you feel the need to play with guns! No waiting period, hi-tech full auto weaponry (with the ever popular extended magazines!) and you get to shoot people to your heart’s content…
Oh, you get free ammunition!
What files would holder have after the shredder trucks were parked for days in DC before bush scurried out of town following poor dick in his wheelchair.
The only record left for holder was a photocopy of a clenched fist with one finger protruding.
Hard to believe the Carlin YouTube clip has only 38,000 hits. It’s an education of the how the system works in less than 4 minutes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5dBZDSSky0
Question: why are those kleptocrats named in the Times piece rallying around Chris Christie, rather than Romney, a private equity guy, himself, one of their own? What do you think it is he’s lacking in their eyes?
Electability.
Lee Raymond looks like a walrus crossbred with a rodent.
Good morning, all. I slept in this morning, and I see I missed the fun. Rainy here, so a good day to do inside stuff.
It’s a great clip. I’ve been a big Carlin fan for years. I remember hearing him somewhere indicate (if memory serves) that Lenny Bruce was a huge influence on him. He basically wanted to be the kind of comedian Bruce was, a brave one.
Bill Hicks was great also, if you haven’t seen him. He said some things that were very dangerous. Letterman later had his mom on after expressing some embarrassment at the fact that he had canceled Hicks who was dying and who had really looked forward to doing his routine on the show.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ip4IklpZfY
Really, that it? Christie has swagger, sure, but he’s a fat blowhard. Rather than Romney, a calculating technocrat. Romney can talk to those clowns in their Manhattan hedge fund offices, boardrooms and Koch brothers’ retreats better than Christie, I would think. It’s still not adding up for me.
Someone’s always taking their guns away.
I thought their psychosis was based around fluoridation.
It has nothing to do with hunting or protection. It’s just a very well organized group of weirdos who think that the entirety of the constitution is embodied in one half of one poorly formed sentence.
Whatever it is they want, they must not care about maintaining even a thin veneer of civility or finesse. It’s going to be fast, brutish and nasty.
I figured this was coming with Obomber sinking in the polls.
The MOTU need someone to implement their policies without a lot of trouble from the sweaty masses.
And Obomber has delivered better than they probably expected.
That’s why they’re running batshit crazy Republicans. If Perry ever
got elected and implemented the shit Obomber’s on track to do, people would be out in the streets in short order. Romney’s not gonna win cause he’s a Mormon and has a record of major flip flops. The religious right has a lot of trouble with Mormon’s. Hey, I don’t get it, but there it is.
That’s why the sudden call for Christie. He’s a more “reasonable” freak in the MSM filled minds of the American people.
Christie stands a much better chance of keeping the people sedated if Obama loses, and that’s what they want. We gotta sit down and shut up.
But, they really want Obama. Here’s an African American Democrat poised to trash the New Deal, and “progressives” are defending him. Didja eva?
There’s never been more drilling and blasting for energy in the US, never more in corporate profits, and an endless supply of cash for Wall St.
Despite all the kabuki, they love him.
Since Obama’s been in office the Koch’s net worth went from 30 billion to 50 billion. That’s all you gotta know to see through this sham.
I’m puttin’ on my rose coloured glasses and venturing out into the world. Safe travels and safe home, pupses.
ohmmmmm
Ooo-k, it begins to clarify. Depending on how Christie’s BIG SPEECH later today on our most treasured A-number one myth, “American Exceptionalism”, is received, may determine if he jumps or not.
all the little things we do to make it to another day
I havn’t heard Christie speak much but he is a popular guy who could win NJ and who knows what else in the NE. I think the thugs base will hang with him, even though they may not like him much, since they will see him as less objectionable than that Black man heathen from Kenya. So, he could do it.
I don’t think the current crop of thugs are smart enough frankly, but maybe they are just dumbing down to please the base.
