Mahalo Nui Loa, Lady Gaga…! And RIP Jamey Rodemeyer…
What’s on your mind tonite…?
Thanks, CT, for sharing these clips. I don’t follow LadyGaga but I know she consistently speaks for equality. I simply have never been able to understand where people get the energy to trash the LBGT population…or anyone else, either, for that matter. I just don’t get it. Their hate causes so much needless pain and loss. Anyhow, I mentioned earlier this evening that I didn’t know much about LadyGaga, and I can’t say that I know much more right now…but thanks. (I don’t ‘get’ her style, but I love her substance, for sure!)
Aloha, Dearie, I’m not a ‘fan’ of her ‘style’ either, but, I love her substance too…! ;-)
Did I read that you have a couple more days lined up on the mountain?
I’ve known quite a few gays over my long life. Fortunately for my friends, they have all had supportive networks. It’s hard enough to be a teenager; it must be so awful to have people bullying you just because of who you are… of course most people get bullied for who they are, I guess.
Dayam, I just had to switch browsers to get back here…! 8-(
Actually, it got pared down a day…! I’ll only be up top on Fri. nite…!
I wanted to post some Toobz and it wouldn’t let me in…! 8-(
Same old blues…
Maybe it’s just us tonight! I wonder if people are just burning out from the stress of trying to avoid the other shoe falling? The market was nasty over the past 7 days…..and many of us older folks really kind of count on some interest/dividends to keep the home fires burning.
Hi you two.
Actually, I’m just heading off to cook some dinner, so this will be brief.
Got involved with the “Obama’s Got an Everyone Problem” thread today. Whenever I get those pleas from the obama campaign, it just sets me off!
OTOH, it keeps my creativity flowing to craft a new response to each of their foolish missives.
The last I looked, about and hour or so ago, there were multiple LN threads going, including the Dissenter. I think we are distracted.
I really would like more write-ups on how the Obama fund-raising push is going. That NYT story, with the remark that the vast majority of past donors has NOT contributed was interesting.
What I really want is a tally of the snotty remarks from folks like me!
It’s my intention, every time Obama shows up to campaign in Orlando, to be standing there with a sign saying “Obama, the republicans, Republican”.
So true, Dearie. Isn’t spooky, not to have ANY safe place to put your money? Shoot, I’m familiar enough with “how the stock market does over time,” but when you’re old, you don’t have “time.”
And putting it in the bank, which is paying less than 1% — hell, less than .5% — is just crazy.
Hi, MM, I always like getting the mailers. I write all my complaints and suggestions and recommendations as to how Obama could grow a spine, etc., and then I pack up everything in their pre-paid mailer and send it all back. For some reason I seem to be dropping off most of the lists. :)~
You need an apostrophe there:
Forgive my prior career as an 8th grade English teacher.
I’m surprised, given the nasty stuff I write to them, that I still get e-mails and snail mail items. But I do.
Hey CT, what’s it looking like outside tonight? A couple of nights ago it was amazingly clear and the stars/Milky Way were phenomenal!
Forgiveness given. Hey, it’s almost 2 am here, cut me some slack.
Admittedly though, I tested out of all my college English classes, and in retrospect, it was a mistake.
My brother tells me that there are CDs in Colombia paying 11%. Of course, I don’t live in Colombia, and until he gets citizenship, I don’t think I’m eligible for citizenship.
I have one of my great-grandfather’s naturalization papers. He had to swear allegiance to the United States ONLY….foreswear allegiance to the Kaiser, for example. But I’m sure Rahm has dual citizenship. Not sure about Lieberman.
Ever since Bush the Lesser, I’ve kind of wanted to have dual citizenship.
East Coast!!! OMG, you are definitely forgiven!!!!
Not even 8 pm here.
Aloha, MM…! It was a gorgeous day and a spectacular sunset behind the mtns…! Sorry, my Mobi Hele seems to be my prob…! 8-(
I’m wondering if there’s a web site somewhere that lists the requirements for emigration to some of the “attractive” countries. From what little research I’ve done, it doesn’t look all that easy to just slip into Canada or France and take advantage of their health care system and safety net.
As things get worse and worse here, I give it more serious thought, but I think other countries control their immigration.
Give the hamsters inside the Mobi a bit more food to pep them up.
Aloha, tuez…! Any relief yet from the mugginess in Floridaze…?
MM, another coincidence. I taught English for five years.
Does anyone here remember Cassie, a young woman [high school age] in Texas who used to write here, and who went off to Princeton?
I happened to run across her blog today and was reminded of what a fabulous writer she was.
Some Stevie Ray…
What fascinated me on my recent trip to Cartagena, Colombia, was that so very many people had dual citizenship through grandparents from Italy … they all had European Union passports (which they called Visas.) I’m working on my son-in-law to try for Italian citizenship through one of his grandparents (all four were from Sicily.) And my former paralegal and dearest friend assures me that I can come and live with her family in a small town in Mexico…..of course she doesn’t want to go back there. We keep our options open as far as possible!
I looked into going to Canada and took their test. It seems if you are college educated and speak a smattering of French, you can get in. However, I just barely pasted the test and if they move the bar…
I am also eligible for Irish citizenship, via my grandparents, but old birth certificates are hard to come by and the EU is heading down the rabbit hole faster than we are.
I’m thinking South America is the answer.
Edit:GD can’t believe I can’t spell passed correctly.
Does the “grammar” on the internet make you insane?
I want to write a booklet: “here’s what you should have learned in 8th grade. Learn it now and sound ignorant no more.”
Really, the “it’s” as a possessive, the confusion of “there” and “their,” “him and me” used as a subject, arrgh, I want to scream.
And really, there are about 8-10 “rules” that, if you learn them, will keep you on the grammatical straight and narrow. I used to make “deals” with my kids: this week, we will focus on grammar. Next week, we can go back to short stories.
There’s some stupid car commercial now that says “less xxx, less yyy, less doors.” Not “fewer” doors; “less” doors. Now how does THAT work?
Ain’t She a real diamond in the rough…? I’m sure Princeton will polish her up right nicely…! ;-)
I’ve been following her writings since she was 15 yrs old…! *g*
No Tut, still hot and steamy. It’s trying to cool off but we still keep hitting 90 or more.
That said one night this past weekend, due to a rather well timed storm, I did get to open the house up and turn off the AC. WOOT.
Really? You don’t have to have a pile of money? I spent a little time looking at their site and concluded I couldn’t make it, even though I can speak fairly good French, and could certainly “study” myself into more proficiency.
I can see why countries would want to discourage Americans coming in. I’m just curious and feel like there ought to be some sites with actual details.
Where are you, tuez?
After I read a few of my old posts and the typos that I didn’t catch….well, I began to cut folks some slack. But, yes, the grammar mistakes make me cringe. “To, too” also makes me crazy…..I just assume that intelligent people will figure out that too much is really simple to learn. But, hey, I used to diagram sentences for fun!
I used to type my kids’ papers for them just to help, but I would not edit… I’d make them stand over my shoulder and read what they’d written out loud. They always caught the grammar errors when they read aloud.
I’ve got to toddle off and make some dinner.
Night all.
I DO NOT / CANNOT KNOW ANYTHING WHATSOEVER AS TO THE PSYCHE
OF ANYONE, OR ANY ONE RELATED THERETO, IMAGINABLY REFERENCED HERE. PERSONAL SUPPOSITION, OPINION, THEORY.
Virtually all murderers of gays have proven
being gay.
School shootings have generally resulted from
gee-I-might-be-gay-no-I’m-not-really-gay preachers
causing men to teach sons arrested growth, and in turn,
bullying mimicing their scapegoating parentage.
Boys hurt animals, men don’t, but where growth his arrested,
boys keep asserting gender.
Hitler was feminine. J. Edgar Hoover had, per one well
researched book by as Rancho Santa Fe (CA) author, a lover
in a swanky CA seaside community. Per Oliver Stone’s movie
JFK’s murderers were substantially gay fascists.
The fear of being wrongly ferreted out as gay is the fear of fascism, because the whole purpose, demonizing so as to associate any political
foe with the demonized, and, more recently, in driving wedges by way
of promulgating fear, transference (encouraging transference of
“”unfinished business”" / pacification and then comes the real killer:
people fearing to so much as look at people resembling obnoxious
priors)self-process produced the gay fascist murderers of gays.
That was by way of causing, in the West, to marry heterosexually,
whereas in the East, DEVELOPMENTAL occurrence combined with an
unfettered OPTIMAL genetic incidence simply bopped along the way
it naturally should: optimally for numerical genetic advantage
“”for the group.”" We in fact have at our disposal a full Earth,
full human history utterly sincere scientific control.
(Old hat: smoke / mirrors – puppets – scared munchkins enforcing
fear, “”transference.”")
Believe it or not, the above confirms religion if it is a conveyed
lesson in science and morality and history, for it offers a proof
in all three simultaneously.
The genetics is proved by the history and morality. The morality
is proved by the genetics and the history. The history is
revealed, and, simultaneously, we are enabled to see how it is
information may enjoy a form of life of its own.
Plus, an accelerating rush in science lends support to the idea
all this means something real. Plus, events such as frauds
attempting to drive wedges of distrust between participant in
Occupy Wall Street add frosting on the cake, which otherwise
is humanity’s never-ending turning
from freedom, equality, and b – / sisterhood, to:
freedom, equality, and b – / sisterhood, to:
freedom, equality, and b – / sisterhood, to:
freedom, equality, and b – / sisterhood.
I do not pretend to say Moses / Christ were real. I do
propose information may enjoy an element of life such
that the figures Moses and Christ can be representative.
The implication, if good people believe in freedom,
equality and brotherhood / sisterhood, is, whether
“”humanist”" or religious, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist
or Confucian (proposed the ***SAME*** “”religion”" as
J-C, Buddha proposed transformed on psychiatric, scientific,
moral and historical perspective bases) is all good
people have believed in the same things all along.
I have MOST recently wondered: if a proof of conveyors’
relation can be formulated (offered in detail–I’m not
going to spam–search around for my id if you’re among
the very very few interested in these thoughts;)
if that will immediately suggest a proof of a pattern
plainly also suggested by recent discoveries plus
relativity / probabilities … web bot / digital forensics /
and gravitational lensing (quantum leaps, quantum
entanglement, spin physics, original information all in the
house,) upon passing a test in morality, science and a
new understanding in history, then, there could be another
layer of discovery in store.
While discovering earliest information would also suggest
how people might travel further than our astronomers say is
possible, and of course, our being computers, just as is, I’m
guessing, the universe, is already curing cancer,
http://goo.gl/rml0K
I wonder if the site of proof of a confirming pattern, proving
the above, might be accompanied by some physical demonstration
of how information can live.
The above puts me in the company of Isaac Newton, Ernst Mach,
Carl Mach, Albert Einstein, the earliest developers of computers,
the and especially the man who first dreamed of fractals (also in the house)because that potentially connects the suspected pattern with the suspected original information and potentially places it universally but also intrinsic to you. It is potentially more basic than the
evolution defining a living moral universe.
Good night.
P.S. People familiar with me and my earlier
own disconnect with any of these possibilities, or even
religious thought whatsoever, will nonetheless by now
trust that this is only a thought offered sincerely.
As Prof. Hawking holds the Newton chair, I propose he,
if there should be proof of relation to proposed conveyors, who (proposed)
traveled here by way of understanding earliest information,
undertake identifying at a possible “”doorway,”" similar to
legendary “”doorways”" around the world, said proposed confirming pattern.
I have an idea what that could enable, but that’s getting even too
far fetched for myself.
But, hey, I used to diagram sentences for fun!
*heh* Now that makes me cringe…! ;-)
My two kids, who used to gripe when I “corrected” their grammar, have become almost as big grammar nazis as I am. Within the last year, each of them said, “Mom, I hated it when you pointed that stuff out to us, but now I appreciate it.”
Now we trade “grammar jokes”/atrocities. One of my particular favorites is the “less”/”fewer” mix-up. I used to try to get my students to try both words in other circumstances to remember the differences : is there “less” water in the glass or “fewer”? Are there “less” students enrolled this year or “fewer”?
Yup, diagramming sentences: great fun.
Holy-Moly, holy…! What a mouthful…! ;-)
A year or so ago, there was an American expat posting here, living in Germany, suggesting everyone in the US try to get out. He/she posted a link to the test to get into Canada, which I took. Since I/we only passed the test by 3 points, I’m sure the fact I can speak French (I lied about my proficiency, used to be fluent, but that was years ago)was the deciding factor.
Now, I’ve also run across individual country websites that insist a person needs to put up a bond to immigrate. We looked into Australia about 13 years ago, and one needed 200k, unless you had a corporate sponsor.
It’s really sad that no other country wants us.
And do you “try to do something” or “try and do something”? I’m afraid that “try to” has lost out…..even when “try and” makes absolutely no sense. Talk about cringe!
Some people ride bikes, some run marathons, some diagram sentences. You got a beef with that? ‘:)~
Trolls must be hungry.
On edit: I swear I’ve seen that username before. Strange comment.
I think that if we try for Central or South America, we might have a chance. Colombia is a wonderful country….and set to do great things. People love Belize and Costa Rica, but I’ve not looked into actually gaining citizenship there.
I love Italy…..every country is going to have problems in the coming years….I’d rather have them in Italy!
And I couldn’t even grow tomatoes in coastal California this year because we got no summer near the coast. That was a shock. I’d always figured that when times got tough, at least I could grow vegetables in my front yard. Well, that ain’t a happening thing!
Wizard…
Is it just me or is your YouTube wonky too…?
I admit to not having done any real research into SA. I’ve just read more than a few things that make me think that’s were the future is.
That said, my husband and I never had kids, so we have no future to worry about.
We just need to get through the next 20-30 years.
It is really sad that one can’t grow vegetable anymore in California. I live in central Florida, hard to imagine not having weather conducive to growing a few things (albeit, July/August is not prime time).
my toobz are so wonky, I’m gonna call it a night. Firefox isn’t even bleeding memory and it’s slow.
Ditto that…! Sweet dreamz, tuez…!
Well, tuez, most of California can still grow vegetables, but I live a block from the ocean, and we are fogged in much of the time. Used to be “June Gloom” that we’d have the fog bank…….this year it went on for months. But my daughter in Montana had some fabulous summer, so there is that!
And, yes, you definitely should do some internet exploration of Central and South America….just for the fun of it, and also because if we don’t see some significant turn around in the USA-USA-USA, well, you might want a less stressed next 20 to 30 years.
Just sayin’
Speaking of a little fog…! ;-)
Radiohead on Colbert. Cool.
Nice! I used to walk over to the beach regularly for sunsets. The regulars would show up with glasses of wine and a sense of awe. I have seen the green flash twice. Amazing. Have you seen the green?
I have something I found that is completely appropo,
my favorite Japanese star, Sheena Ringo
a single,Kuofukuron
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOpBJ7G0YIE
and another song segued into Kufukuron in a live show 2008
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJYG4fvopr8
have a great week people!
and Sheena is japanese for ‘apple’
Hey folks.
Today I finished jury duty. Facinating. The system works.
Yay for justice. I’ve always wanted to serve on a jury, but I’m an attorney and a social worker……out, out!
I’d seen a couple before Madame Pele started erupting continuously in the early 80′s…! Her vog has long since obscured the green flashes…!
Aloha, k-pop…! How’s the Prairie tonite…?
So glad you got to see a couple of ‘em. Very neat!
And, for your amusement, I did not know that Radiohead was a British band though I’ve listened to them for years.
Aloha, spocko…! What kind of case did ya sit on…?
cool and dry but fine for all that
heard about the green flashes but never seen
I was aware that an Attorney is automatically dq’d, but, a social worker too…?
Ya need an Ocean nearby…! ;-)
The flash is when the Sun shines through the Ocean’s waters on the distant horizon…!
Ever heard of “bleeding heart, liberal social workers”? Everyone thinks social workers will side with the poor criminal, I guess. I, though, was a juvenile probation officer/social worker…..I loved ‘helping’ kids by saying things like, “I know you are having a hard time getting to school, so I’ll come and sit by you in class if you ever miss again…just to support you!” My ‘probates’ would laugh….and never, ever miss another class. I’m still laughing.
And attorneys are not free from jury duty. I sat on one panel going through voir dire….and next to me was one of my classmates from law school. I got dinged, but she actually got on the jury.
In my county, even judges are sometimes called…..though I’ve never heard of one who actually was empaneled.
Well, thanks, CT, for another interesting evening. And thanks for giving LadyG some love.
Most excellent work, Dearie…!
I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu for the nite…! Mahalo, and, Aloha Oe…! *g*
