I just spent $23 on a light bulb. $15 for the bulb, and $8 shipping. Nothing similar available locally.
And you thought it was going to be a “how many to screw it in?” joke.
7 watts, LED, warm white. If the specs are to be believed, this should be the reading light for me for the rest of my life. I find it hard to believe that I will be in a situation where I can’t scrape up 7 watts AC.
This is a LED, not a CF, so it should neither break in normal conditions nor wear out. I’m just hoping it’s bright enough to read by and that I like the light.
Interesting Dave, I had a discussion today about the new paradigm for no growth. How will the have nots make it? No plan set as yet but MOTU want us to get our own solution as they oppose assisting the dispossessed.
France’s left-wing opposition struck a blow against embattled centre-right leader President Nicolas Sarkozy’s hopes for re-election Sunday, winning a historic victory in a senatorial vote.
The Socialist Party and its Communist and Green allies won enough seats to give the left control of the upper house for the first time in French history, a stepping stone towards a presidential win in seven months’ time.
Right-wing parties have controlled the Senate since the Fifth Republic was founded in 1958, and Sunday’s flip to the left could break the already weak momentum of Sarkozy’s unannounced re-election drive.
There are issues of distribution of wealth – you can no longer effectively make the argument that the rising tide lifts all boats, because the tide is now going out.
There are issues of debt – you take on debt with the idea that you can grow to pay back both the principle and the interest. Without growth, debt is a technique to concentrate wealth.
Our whole economy hits a wall when growth slows. As we enter contraction (voluntary or otherwise), the whole thing is at risk.
Aloha, The robert…! No real surprise there… Sarkozy has really pissed off the French…! Interestingly, before Dominic Strauss-Kahn was caught with his pants down, he was a shoo-in…!
There is a reason we are defined as “the masses”, because we so enormously overwhelm the few rich in this world that any victories over us they may, from time to time, gain over our interests, those triumphs will always be briefly enjoyed before we take back far more than they took….
Even more fed up than that. The two books I hosted/reviewed were excellent, though, and McGinniss’ book was the only one by a nationally recognized author that will ever be written about the town in which I live, so I couldn’t pass up doing that book salon.
A good evening recovered from 6k sculling sessions on the Lake. These are the fall races that are grueling so the pain last for 12 hours for me others not so long.
How is your evening Mr. CTuttle…still seeing stars on the mountain?
CT!
*heh* I do believe that’s a Zed, M’dear…! ;-)
Hiya, CT.. Back from a kick-butt concert in Anchorage by my friend and colleague, Mark Wolbers – solo clarinet.
Oh my! I love REM so much.
*dancing around the room*
G’nite everybody Don’t worry, be happy

Btw, ya’ll… Here’s a little clip of the festivities last nite…! ;-)
My humble apologies that I’d belatedly realized I could zoom in…! Oopsies…! ;-)
Aloha, ET…! That was an awesome Book Salon today…! *g*
Aloha, Chris…! What’s your fave tune…? Mine is Orange Crush, but I luv ‘em all…! ;-)
Aloha, dave…! $8 bucks in shipping fees…?
That’s what I said. Should have been half that, at most. Clearly, that’s where their profit is.
*heh* Shiny Happy People, even eh, Sweetie…? ;-)
While I was at it I also ordered Heinberg’s “The End of Growth : Adapting to our New Economic Reality”. It came out last month, should be interesting.
Stamped on bulb:
Fragile do not drop G)
Pretty good video.
I have broken about four of the energy saving bulbs they do ware out pretty fast too.
Btw, ET, as I was reading all the great comments, I kept thinking that McInsane should’ve chosen my Guv instead…! ;-)

Oh, and CFs have mercury, so you got a nice little dose each time you broke one.
even eh :)
The advances in LED tech really should replace the highly toxic mercury-based CFL’s…! I’m a big fan of LED’s…!

*heh* My hunt and pecking methods leave much to be desired…! What’s your poison…? ;-)
It was. Hopefully the last Sarah Palin book salon I ever do.
Thank you for the headsup.
That fed up with her…? ;-)

Should be an interesting read.
Woo-hoo!
The dog tells me it’s time for bed. Be good to one another.

Pleasant dreams, dave…!

Kharma’s a real b*tch…!
It was great to see some locals chime in too…!
I’m tentatively scheduled to go back up the mtn. thurs. and fri. nite…!
One of their seminal songs… Everybody Hurts…
Goodness, a lively bunch tonite…! ;-)
I’m definitely hanging from last nite’s festivities, my body realized it wasn’t quite capable of prancing and dancing about like I used to…!
One…
I’m in a rock mood. ACDC is rock. REM was not.
*heh* There really is something about American thighs…! ;-)
Aloha, TG…!
Sweet Child O’ Mine…
Sho Nuff. I like my rock and roll pretty much gut bucket, brimming with blood and slopping over with grease.
For a better idea, check this out. My pal Lee Roy Parnell at his best. He doesn’t sing but he cuts the FUCK loose.
That’s some fine Watermelon Slim, TG…! ;-)
Speaking of thighs, the Better Half is gently snoozing beside me, I shall join her shortly in la-la land…! *g*
The One I Love… Aloha Oe and Mahalo, ya’lls…! *g*
