same as last night — wet :) picked up 1/3″ yesterday and have almost 1/2″ today. supposed to start to get nice tomorrow afternoon and then no rain while mom’s here – at least per the weather doodette
CTut. I said i was going to bed in the last thread. This si weird. have you ever been sleeepy but you can’t sleep at the same time? No, I’ll bet. Maybe I juat need to get comfortable.
I’m gonna try bed again. I may be back. Always good to see you, Suze. I mean it. You to CT. I have a cfriend–friend of a friend, really who is pining for Washington. Hates NJ and can’t wait to get back to washington. And I hate FL and can’t wait to get back to NJ. Go figger.
Been a pretty dry summer which I love because I take the bus home (buses) and do not appeciate gvetting rained on and am trerrified of the lightning. O)therwise, i want to go back to NJ. What up on the islAND?
I was thinking about the last Republican debate and the cheering for the death of the guy with no insurance, and the human sacrifice of 234 inmates in Texas.
The core of fascism, as far as I can tell, is hate. Sure, there is sociopathy in the leaders, and to some extent in the followers, but hatred, specifically of the “other”, seems to be the core energy.
To harness and lead a fascist movement, you need to foment hatred, and direct it at your particular targets. You take control of the reptile brain.
In today’s fascist America, those targets are us.
Hatred begets violence. The entire point of the conservative movement aligning themselves with fascist elements is that political violence is a force multiplier. The right no longer has the votes, and they are discarding democracy like a snake sheds its skin. Violence hasn’t exploded yet, because they managed to win in 2010. But it is simmering just under the surface. They think they can control it. They can’t. Nobody ever has. They are riding the tiger, and they are just coming to realize it.
I’m afraid that the reaction to gay marriage will not be political action, it will be lynchings. How many Democratic offices have had windows broken, mysterious fires, etc. in the last few months?
Our Republican-lite “Democrats” are playing with the old playbook from the 90s. Karl Rove is playing with the playbook from the 2000s. The teabaggers are using the playbook from the 1930s.
I’m afraid that too many Americans firmly believe that it can’t happen here. Berlin in the 1920s was the most civilized, progressive city in Europe. It happened there. It can happen here. It is happening here, and so fast it takes my breath away.
Now, I have a question for ya’ll do you think I should think about shelling out $295 for Tix and a room at the Waikoloan to see the Stevie Miller Band play…?
dood, take the money and run
don’t waste it on Steve Miller
I mean, if you’re taking your spouse or a kid or a niece/nephew, sure for the bonding time
but Steve Miller? Is that how they string y’all along out there in waikiki-land ? ;)
well that ‘s all the reason ya need, especially if that’s what she would like
that song with Dave Mason is nice, I remember it on the radio way back when and of course remember him in traffic, and he played with george harrison etc
If she would like it, there’s no better reason to :)
oh crap i totally forgot ppd…. i’ve been so busy getting the house ready for my mom — have been back and forth from the computer. just finished cleaning out and cleaning up the fridge
y’know, politicians with that level of baggage have not just a personal historical legacy to maintain but the whole political credibility of the nation-state to maintain after office.
I hate it, but understand it. Nation-states can’t just up and say ‘we wuz wrong’.
It’s something that Carter pointed to in that interview with Maddow
The Camp David essentially had Israel agreeing to clear out of the west bank and gaza but they didn’t. We didn’t hold them to that and crucially, Mubarak didn’t either. They didn’t say we were wrong, they just ignored the facts.
Of course, eventually it will all collapse on top of the tissue of lies, or already is, but then there will be new crises that will require our attention etc – Oi Oi Oi!
the trick is marshalling the power to make that happen.
Right, wrong, peace accords, war strategy, fairness, justice they don’t care.
Like Bachmann and ?Boehner and Perry. McConnell. They say whatever they damn well please and don’t worry about accountability. Because they’re set. Ok, maybe Bachmann not so much. but they won’t ever have to answer, like Cheney and continue to go out there and spread discord and froot-loops to the many who are guaranteed to eat it up.
I know, preaching at the choir again… :)
The whole point of the UN bid, be it as a full member, or even observer status, is to finally attain the necessary legal standing in the ICC and/or ICJ at The Hague, anything short of that will be totally pointless…!
tut!
Aloha, Suz…! How’s your Inlet tonite…?
I’m glad I’ve got some Time…!

evening, CT, firegods
It really is astonishing how fast, and far we’ve fallen, 4cdave…! 8-(
Aloha, The robert…! I made it a point to visit Walden Pond while I was stationed in Mass…! How’s SoPA…?
Aloha, PPD…!
60s with lots of sun, then chilly nights.
I’m watching the classic, fully restored 1927 silent Metropolis on Turner Classic Movies right now….
Now, I have a question for ya’ll do you think I should think about shelling out $295 for Tix and a room at the Waikoloan to see the Stevie Miller Band play…?

“Save your money – don’t go to the show!”
how much for just tix and no room?
Donate the price of Miller tickets to a food bank….
I should note that Dave Mason will be playing with Stevie too…!
We Just Disagree…

That’s the thing, it’ll be for the Better Half’s Bday…!
Not an option, I’ve still got to stay somewhere on the Kona side that nite…!
Did you catch any jazz on KUSP, Suzzz?
well that ‘s all the reason ya need, especially if that’s what she would like

F*ck me running…! Tony Blair denies he’s supporting the Israeli position…
What a hypocritical Liar…! 8-(
oh crap i totally forgot ppd…. i’ve been so busy getting the house ready for my mom — have been back and forth from the computer. just finished cleaning out and cleaning up the fridge
family comes first — this afternoon and early evening livecasts were great, though.
Here’s another Only You Know and I Know…
Speaking of old fogeys still carrying on… I’m So Glad…
haven’t seen any of that cream reunion til now, thanks man!
I never could tell who was slicker at talking out both sides of his mouth, Blair or Clinton. Obama doesn’t come close.
I think the Poodle edges out Bubba…! Considering he’s still unapologetic over Britain’s involvement in Iraq…! 8-(
I never heard of that eye cherry or that song. It’s a good sentiment and the video too.
have you heard of kutiman? It may interest you.
Something really fresh… Young the Giant – Cough Syrup

What a kewl project, ks…! ;-)
…they just ignored the facts. Exactly…! Now it’s time for them to be held accountable…!
just the idea was great but I am always pleased with the music he makes out of it. the music stands up even after repeated listening :)

Hmmm.. This is pretty smooth… Fitz and The Tantrums – Tighter

I like the sound of this
be it production or recording or whatever. there’s a precision and clarity matched with emotion that resonates here
thanks!
yes I’ve heard that, tehy can take cases to the ICC with the UN statehood recognition
and why Israel shits their pants
and why US will veto it
I should do a couple errands, but it’s good hanging out with you CT!
Have a good time whatever you do for the sweety’s birthday! :)
Sweet dreams, ks…! The Better Half will be the final arbiter, after all…! ;-)
Well, I shall bid ya’ll another fond adieu for the evening…! Mahalo and Aloha Oe…! *g*
