Hey, Suz. Thanks for the first pork feminist.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye. – Miss Piggy
hey robert — how’s soPA tonight?
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! It was actually a gorgeous day today, still large puddles from yesterday’s deluge tho…! No rain yet in your neck…?
50 degrees. Going down to 42.
I started the boiler today to make sure it’s not going to be giving me problems whenever it would be more inconvenient….
yay tut! am forecast for 1/2″ sun through mon morning but it looks like it will not be raining tuesday when mom flies in. the rest of her visit could be wet or not depending on how some out there storms track.
today was a sunny crisp fall day.
I’m worried about Pellora in Reno, still no word from her at the Beach house…! 8-(
she’s the first person i thought of too…. fingers and toes crossed we hear from her soon
Evening pups.

He will be working here:

Even though he had a settlement with worker’s comp last week, that wouldn’t have lasted long. Now we even have a bit of savings.
wow, tuez, wonderful timiing. i’m so forking happy for youse guys
tuezday, I am always so happy to hear that people are able to get back in the game. Thank you for being here at FDL and sharing with us. Hugs to you and your husband.
Okay, how about this. I have a couple grand I could give to a politician, to say get inside as a progressive mole. What do you think of that?
Woo hoo, Pel just checked in at the Beach House, Suz…! *g*

:o cool! Does he get one of these for his commute!?
http://www.entechcreative.com/products+skycycle.php
*whew* thanks tut
At 15 miles away, I think it’s too far. But he’s excited.
i would suggest becoming a gosprey circle member at firedoglake…
hey tw3k — how ya doing tonight?
I could do that too, but what if I could “mole” in a republican admin.
need thousands and thousands of dollars before they even notice you want in
Not necessarily, been looking at campaign contributions. They are cheap dates.
The Russians during the cold war used to think the American’s were cheap, they’d give it up for a couple hundred thousand.
I seriously think 2 or 3k could get one a spot as a secretary.
true dat…. they are a buncha tightwads
Good, thank you. How about you!?
I was going to break out the Perry quote “If you’re saying that I can be bought for $5,000, I’m offended.”
i was trying to remember what his exact words were…. he sure didn’t deny that he could be bought… its just hagglin’ over the price
i got my grammy fix on this week. jen sent me a couple new pix that i put up at my place
Anybody else get that petition for Krugman today? I looked around a little but didn’t see anything else.
lol, yup!
Sitting already. Dayam. Be in kindergarten before you know it….
per twitter re the iranian hikers:
*heh* “… now we’re just haggling over the price.” ;-)
Hey folks.
SOOO happy that Tuezday’s hubby has a job! It make me so happy.
i know… she’s not a newborn anymore she’ll be 6 months on october 9th
Dangnabbit…! Extra swirls in your Latte, M’dear…?
Ah! Beautiful! I like the foot holding, heh.
Nite pups. I’m outta here.
A long week ended on a high note.
hey spocko — how was your day?
and make sure that foam is nice and thick — like fake whipped cream :)
she was sleeping in that one … so forking cute!!! before ya know it, that foot’s gonna be in her mouth — everything else goes there
Sweet dreams, tuez…!
g’nite tuez — what a wonderful way to end the week!

pretty good, just finished scanning documents for a contract we’re working on — heading to the store, then home to the cave. Long day, though
Or is it ‘frothy’? I’ll have to Google it to be sure….
sac is still…well….sac.
sweet. any plans this weekend?
More language ‘massaging’…..ransom now being called “bail.” Interesting.
Looks like around $29,500!

Santorum: Frothy Economics
i remember it well
I found this today. Harry Connick Jr.
ella’s is just about my fav cover of frank’s tune but that’s sweet mary
Pretty good. I wrote a diary, which I haven’t done for awhile. Check it out.
tweeted and recommended dood. nice to see ya posting again
Ahminejad wants to put forward a good faith measure ahead of his appearance at the UN, the same day as Mahmoud Abbas submits the full-statehood bid to the UN SC, and Bibi’s speech to the General Assembly, shortly afterwards…! I’m sure Bibi will spew the most lies and vitriol that day…!
I couldn’t tell if the “bail” (ransom) was a half million or a half million each. Some gesture. I wish the USA would just let the Middle East work out their own friggin’ problems for a while. Whatever. Bibi will fuck everything up anyhooooo.
i featured this one up top before
Biking to the peninsula & back, Monterey Jazz Festival too this weekend.
Bail wafts the fragrance of due process, Dearie — rather than the stench of extortion
kokomo
Great diary.
I think those who would applaud the death of anyone for lack of insurance may be best understood and undermined through studies of mob mentality. These people just want to belong to something, having been not accepted into any club before. And many are old men–some even hippy rabble-rousers back in their day, who resent being old and roar out cheers for a chance to feel vital again….
busy weekend :) sept and october monterey bay can be so forking gorgeous
That tune is sooooooooo familiar. heh.
Kinda like “enhanced interrogation” instead of straight up torture?
*innocent look*
Looking forward to lots of rides before the rains come in December
I didn’t “hear” them as old…..I heard them as white men who hate, hate, hate that they are losing their special status and are fighting back against anyone who isn’t them.
how many miles does one of your typical rides last? are ya training for an event?
or entitled elitist pricks who never understood that they had a leg up. or something like that.
I think your definition is much more likely spot on than mine, Dearie.
I just hate to believe white men who were kids during the civil rights struggles and peace movement came out of that more regressive than their fathers’ generation….
Yep, they did it all on their own…..screw anyone else…..especially anyone who has had a set back. I get annoyed by them. Selfish/self-centered/narcissists. And, wow, do I know way too many of them!
Direct from the Ministry of Truth —
Patriotically protecting the Homeland as code words for committing war crimes against humanity.
or
Unmanned drones taking out terrorists vs. human controlled predator aircraft with one purpose — to seek out and kill other human beings.
hahahahaha
short rides — 35 to 40 miles
intermediate — 40 to 70 miles
long — 70 to 120 miles
wow that’s a lotta miles
not training for an event, just riding for pleasure while the weather lasts — great scenery in our area
100…?
The one thing I will say is that the men of my daughters’ generation seem much more evolved and balanced. And….I hope….less narcissistic. Older boomers just often don’t ‘get’ it. Well, that’s a generalization, but it’s also an observation.
Most are middle class pricks, maybe thinking if they stick with brown-nosing the real rich elitist, those of wealth will give them that leg up, maybe take them in as human pets for their kennels….
not so long ago, I’d ride average of 6,000 miles a year, mostly concentrated in late spring through the fall.
Mighty close there, M’dear…!
Congrats, PPD on the 100…! ;-)
congrats on snagging the happy lucky 100 ppd!!!
Wow — just hit the century mark — now I really am tired!
yeah, i did a big exhale when i saw that i hit the 99 — forgot to track comment #’s again and that usually comes back to bite me
Rick Perry is qualified to be President in the same way that Olive Garden is qualified to be Italy__God
Bwahahahaha!
wow. i see lotsa bikers up here riding the coast in the summertime… sometimes in large groups.
was too good to not share…
And just an anecdotal note that I’ve dropped in before, but one which gives me some sense of how really nasty it’s going to get: at my 93 year old dad’s retirement community, 5 people have had to move out in the past couple of months as their retirement funds have collapsed. I weep for them. Where do they go on the downward path? And as more lose their retirement security, and as more move out, the costs for those who can still live in this nice place will go up and food services will probably go down.
I condemn Bush….but I hate Obama for failing to stand up and do anything for taxpaying people. Sorry, but I feel that way.
oh jeebus that’s horrible dearie… i feel the same way
In the mid 1990′s I did a tour through Scenic Cycling Adventures. Their HQ was in Oregon. Idaho’s Sawtooth Mountain, Salmon River & Craters of the Moon National Park. — great time.
“Oh, please,” He said. “That’s just weather.”
Paging Mz Bachmann…! ;-)
Thanks, PPD, your cycling tales are great….and uplifting. Ride on!
Obama will go down in history as the best Republican president since Reagan. No great distinction when these times called for nothing less than a supersized FDR to stand up to the Pennsylvania Avenue plutocrats, K Street bribery extortionists & Wall Street vampire squids
amazing how many folks bike up here. portland has a huge bike community and they have all kinda trips around portland and out to the coast etc.
Portland, OR and Davis, CA are Bike Cities USA
I would’ve settled for Teddy Roosevelt…! ;-)
time for some sleep — take care
Ever cycle in the Santa Barbara area? Lots of cycling down here. Pretty rides….but sometimes almost death-defying! We don’t have good bike lanes.
g’nite ppd
Pleasant Dreams, PPD…!
Teddy Roosevelt couldn’t have been elected in his own time, let alone these times, CT. He was an unintended consequence of McKinley’s assassination. Republican’s were shocked at his progressive policies.
Solvang Century is one of my favorites. Santa Barbara is beautiful, but the further south you go, the worse the traffic generally.
Hello Suz!
Hello Tuttle!
Republican’s were shocked at his progressive policies.
You betcha…! That’s why he had to set up his ill-fated Bull Moose party…! ;-)
Aloha, Sweetie…! Great to see you’re safe and sound…! *g*
pell!!! so glad to hear from you — i was worried until tut said you had showed up at the beach house.
We could use more moose and less bull, today CT
I hadn’t thought about my friends all around. I would have checked in sooner. So sorry. I do appreciate your thoughtfulness.
Interesting historical summary on TR at
http://www.whitehouse.gov/about/presidents/theodoreroosevelt
Well, I also liked TR’s ‘Bully Pulpit’ too…! ;-)
such a tragedy. you are the only person i know in the reno area so i immediately wondered if you were there and hoped that you were ok — i’m sure you had plenty of family and close friends to reassure and they are a priority, of course.
One friend of mine did have a family close call though. Grand-daughter and her boyfriend were supposed to be there, in the box seats. He left to go pick her up, so was not there. Otherwise….
I don’t know if I will know anyone who was injured or not for a bit – I’ve not actively searched for names though either. I figure by tomorrow the news will have settled some, and the guessing will have subsided.
Obama’s nearly caught up to TR on imperialist military interventions to protect American corporate interests.
oh jeebus… thanks goodness he left to pick her up. its gonna take a while to gather up the info and data. there were several faa inspectors there who witnessed the event – and the ntsb team will be there in the morning from what i gather.
tis just horrible
I don’t ever remember another crash that involved spectators. But there have been a number of pilots lost. Air plane racing does not have a very big margin for error or bad luck.
i heard on the news earlier that they had lost pilots before but never had spectators involved. tis tragic all the way around. they have souped up those planes to go as fast as a commercial airliner at cruising altitude and that leaves even less of a margin of error when traveling that close to the ground
tis about time for me to head out. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight. still gotta decide between a couple of contenders for tomorrow nights cartoon post. hope to see ya’ll there.
g’nite all
The Unlimited planes are amazingly fast. It was the second to last heat of the day. Only one stunt performer and one more heat, Jets, before quitting time.
I was there the year that a plane just basically fell apart in the air. But it did so down at the far right turn, and the plane parts went straight. It was amazing that no one was hurt. Plane parts fell on house roofs, in back yards, on streets, etc. Pilot died unfortunately. But if that had happened further back up the straightaway, then the debris could have hit spectators. Easily. I would have been in danger where I was.
I only went a few years, back maybe 12 years ago, to work at a high school band fundraising booth.
Well, he was awarded the same Nobel Peace prize as Obummer…!
Good morning, pups. It’s Blow and Nocera today. Mr. Blow says “For Jobs, It’s War,” and that the United States is not poised to fight the global battles for good jobs. I’m glad that after working for almost 50 years I’m almost old enough to collect Social Security and won’t really have to suffer through trying to find or keep a job. (I know, I know, I’m a useless parasite moocher…) Mr. Nocera, in “Killing Jobs and Making Us Sick,” says the Republicans’ refusal to properly fund the new food safety law is an absurd example of politicians hurting the economy.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes for breakfast. Oh, hallelujah! This morning when I got up to feed the kittehs it was under 60°, and it may not reach 80° today. It felt frankly cool bordering on chilly when I went outside. We’ll probably have some more really hot days, but the worst of it is over this year. YAY!!! Have a great day.
G’Morning Marion,
You’re not a useless parasite moocher. I’ve never heard that term before. It’s pretty funny.
I will have some coffee for now. And, I’ll just tuck one of them nanner pancakes in my pocket for later. Thank you, Marion.

Is there anybod lurking behind the screens this morning? Did someone forget to push the PUAC button? You don’t want to have a massive panic attack at the morning lake.
