The Obama Administration has denied the request of a married couple in San Francisco, ordering the expulsion of one spouse who is the primary caregiver of his legally married husband with AIDS.

Team Obama is incapable of valuing our actual relationships, while making pretty speeches about DOMA’s unconstitutionality.

Via everywhere, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has chosen Sens. Patty Murray (D-WA), John Kerry (D-MA) and Max Baucus (D-MT) for the Super Congress, the bipartisan committee charged with finding at least $1.5 trillion in deficit reduction over the next 10 years. They will make up 1/4 of the 12-member committee: the other Majority and Minority Leaders in each chamber of Congress will chose the other nine.

I thought the President was pretty clear yesterday – he thinks we’ve cut the domestic and defense budgets to the bone, and any future savings must come out of a combination of tax revenues and so-called “modest adjustments” to health care programs. So you can forget about that defense-heavy trigger being fired, and even if it is, the defense lobby will have all of 2012 to come up with a substitute for the cuts. And some of the potential areas for cuts in that trigger include some of the best spending in the Affordable Care Act, for community health centers.

As the economy gets worse, people better be really careful about stoking tribalist rage against any minority. I thought we understood that.

Joe Walsh (R-Deadbeat Baby Daddy) has been very very busy these days complaining about all the bills that the muslim president has been running up on malt liquor and Derrick Rose jerseys. So busy, in fact, that he keeps forgetting about his own kids (whom he fondly refers to as ‘whatsername’, ‘whathisname’, and ‘the fat one’). First it was not sending money to his ex-wife (whom he fondly refers to as ‘that ball-crushing whore’) so that his kids can live slightly above the poverty line, and now it appears it has plumb slipped his mind to write down how much he owes so he won’t be forgetting anymore

Seriously, David Axelrod? You ride to the White House on a campaign to rise above intolerance, negativity and partisanship, and without a moment of self-reflection, announce a campaign based on … intolerance, negativity and partisanship? Rather than fix the economy by having the political courage to do what you said needed to be done when you were stoking people’s hope in 2008, you now plan to impose the austerity measures they overwhelmingly oppose and raise hundreds of millions of dollars to tell people your “weird” opponent in his “skinny jeans” is not “principled and consistent”? You want to fan the same bigotry and cultural biases the President promised to rise above, hoping win reelection by virtue suppressing turnout?

So, as we’ve known for a couple months, the Secessionist is running for president. I predict he’ll immediately become the anyone-but-Willard candidate/Teabagger favorite, and essentially knock Michele “Slavery Wasn’t So Bad” Bachmann out of the race. But as the RedStaters celebrate the arrival of their Savior, I’ve got a few questions.

It’s one thing for S&P to pursue its corrupt ideological agenda against the US Government. But now S&P has taken that confusion and stuffed it down another rabbit hole. It has downgraded the credit ratings of several insurance companies that had the good sense to have their reserves heavily invested in safe US Treasury bonds — that is, for doing exactly what a financially prudent board would have expected.

I have been saying for a long time now that President Obama is the world’s worst negotiator and has absolutely no interest in fighting for progressive principles. I didn’t make this up out of the whole cloth. I voted for the guy and I desperately wanted him to succeed. But my job is to cover politics and when you cover Obama all you see is him running for cover.

You could probably talk to 100 people and get 100 different interpretations of the stock market volatility we’re seeing in real time. The market opened up 1% and then immediately fell to about even. The stock market is not the economy and really shouldn’t be seen as a barometer for the economy.
