Heavens to Peggy Noonan, Bill O’Reilly believes in falafel for me, but not for thee!
Bill O’Reilly came to believe that his wife was romantically involved with another man. Not just any man, but a police detective in the Long Island community they call home. So O’Reilly did what any concerned husband would do: He pulled strings to get the police department’s internal affairs unit to investigate one of their own for messing with the wrong man’s lady.
Apparently the Roger Ailes’ Fox Security force was busy intimidating Ailes’ neighbors.
So what the hell, let us start extrapolating, via Jeff Bercovici at Forbes, how this is related to other recent FoxNews scandals:
To build a case that News Corp. constitutes a corrupt organization under anti-racketeering statutes, prosecutors have to show that there exists a pattern of wrongdoing sanctioned at the highest levels of the company.
And what have we here?
the charges against O’Reilly make it that much less unlikely. As Gawker notes, his boss, Fox News chief Roger Ailes, has a habit of using local cops as though they’re his personal employees. Ailes has also been accused of instructing an employee, Judith Regan, to lie to federal investigators who were vetting former New York City police commissioner Bernie Kerik for the job of running the Homeland Security Department.
All a mere coincidence I’m sure.

About Firedoglake
The wife comes in and goes out, Mr. Silverman. She always comes in, and always goes out. You can’t explain that.
Good morning, pups. The Moustache of Wisdom is off today, so MoDo is flying solo. She has a question in “What Price Life?”, and asks should those whose job it is to prepare for the worst be punished because the worst didn’t happen?
Here she is.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got a variety of bagels with cream cheese this morning. StonyPillow, thanks for the early morning giggle. Much appreciated! Have a great day, y’all.
How those law thingies get in the way when you are in the business of defrauding the public.
We are all Ferzat.
I don’t know if this is a scam or if it’s real but I just got an email from an aunt who has had nothing to do with me for decades, wanting me to send her money in Edinburgh, Scotland. I don’t know how she would get there, being as she’s on social security disability but I’ve sent her an email asking her two questions to establish her identity. Anybody else run into a scam like this?
My mom got this kinda one via telephone, with the wrinkle that if you accept the call you get a huge charge. Doesn’t sound like that can happen with email alone.
Sounds like some one has hacked your aunt and is using her contact list.
Yep. That’s what I think too. There are too many fishy smelling things about this:
1) How did she get to Edinburgh on Social Security Disability?
2) Why would she contact me when she’s never shown anything but contempt for me?
3) Why wouldn’t she contact her financially stable brother or her very well off sister, (with whom she was living last I heard)?
4) She knows I’ve been unemployed for two and a half years, why not contact somebody with money? I mean, to settle some hotel bills and buy a ticket back to the states. How much can that cost? A couple thousand bucks at best? She knows people who can easily handle that. People who actually like her.
5) Why not contact somebody who likes her and who she hasn’t been cruel or at best indifferent to? (edit) Okay this one is sort of a repeat but it’s a valid question.
Still, I’d be inclined to help her out if she can establish her identity. I responded with two questions that only a relative of mine can answer. If those are answered to my satisfaction, then I’ll contact her sister to confirm she’s really in Scotland. If it’s just a scam, it’s a very creative and dangerous one.
I got a similar one from a laser service vendor a few months ago. Of course, it wasn’t him. He’d gotten “mugged in London”.
Ruth is right. Someone got her email list. If both of you have a Facebook account, you should be seeing something similar there. If she’s in trouble and needs a hand, she’ll know how to get in touch.
Don’t you worry ’bout a thing.
You are probably one of several on her contact list who got this scam, and you might want to pass on to others you know who might well be approached, to tell them you have reasons to think this is a fraud.
Sounds like a scam to me. I’m in the throes of trying to figure out how my e-mail was hacked and is now being used to send all sorts of crap sales pitches to everyone in my address book. 3 virus hunter/killers say my system is clean, so tomorrow the machine goes off to the DOSpital…
FaceBook is famous for sending invites to everyone on your contact list and embarrassing you that way.
The really nasty aspect of the one that sends out ads in your name, is that you have no idea it’s been done until your contact lets you know.
It happened to a commenter here last year. Many on the e-mail list received a strange call for help and requested money be sent til they returned. I smelled a rat right away and e-mailed commenter to find it was a hoax and the e-mail acct. had been hacked.
Thanks guys. Yeah, I don’t believe it either.
If you have Windows Live Hotmail, you might want to try looking at this before you pay for a service call.
Edinburgh, Nigeria, no doubt.
Sounds like your email account has been hacked. To prevent further messages being sent to your contact list, try changing your password.
This is one of the reasons I refuse to go on Facebook. No internet banking for me either,I have heard too many horror stories about accounts being hacked.
Good Morning, Allyouzalls
Just a couple of fdl notes and questions:
I’m so glad that Pam’s House Blend has been added to our line up. Nice to see some new people. And, it’s so nice to see Pam’s happy smiling face at the top of her tabs posting.
Also, can anyone here tell me the outcome of Jim White’s “tune up” last week?
And, I haven’t seen Bill Egnor for a few. Wonder if he’s on vacation or has there been some more changes here that I missed?
Thanks to anyone who can answer…
Bill is relocating, just gone for a few. and isn’t Pam’s House Blend a good addition!
Thanks, Ruth. You’re a fountain of info. Hugs.
Good morning demi and pups.
I’ve been wondering about Jim White also. A very nice man and one of the few pups I’ve met in person.
Time will tell, Bert. I guess we’ll just have to keep wondering.
“I haven’t seen Bill Egnor for a few.”
Bill is in the process of geographical transition. He is moving.
It’s a scam. Someone hacked her e-mail.
Good Morning, all. Hope you are well.
