Right Wing ‘Disappears’ Obama as Foreign Policy Successes Mount
The first rule of Republicanism: Ronald Reagan could do no wrong.
The second rule of Republicanism: Barack Obama can do no right.
And Republicans are relentless in their fidelity to the rules. Never to be untracked by facts, Republicans now profess to see nothing in the fall of Gaddafi that has to do with Barack Obama …
Found this to be very amusing, BT. From Cocktailhag, one of my favorites:
It’s quite depressing to find, in President Obama, another President who chooses enemies based on whether they are right more often than he is, and relies on schoolyard taunts and ad hominem when factual arguments fail. Worse, he chooses his friends from among what ought to be the natural opponents of all Democrats: Wall Street, Big Pharma, and the Military Industrial Complex; exactly the people who created and continue the malaise that clouds his reelection prospects. But the real kicker is that he, or at least his minions, are starting to sound so much like Republicans that his treasured “Independents” are much more likely to just go ahead and vote for the real thing, rather than the cheap imitation.
Profits per employee have gone up for the second year in a row, according to a study by the financial analysis company Sageworks, suggesting that companies continue to get more out of their employees as they slash their payrolls in an effort to get leaner. The findings also suggest that profits have been rising despite the lack of a corresponding increase in wages.
We be fine, thanks. Typical Gulf Coast weather now that Irene is going up the other coast. Thunderstorms every evening, making the goddamn Bahia grass grow 3″ a day. I may have to nuke the backyard to get rid of that crap.
Rove’s beloved Regressive Party is being taken over by crazy people.
I’m 12 blocks from Boca Ciega Bay, which feeds into the Gulf. I can be on the beach at St Pete Beach in about 10 minutes. When I first moved here I lived in a little beach bungalow on the Gulf but got flooded out a couple times and decided I didn’t want what little I had ruined. It did eventually ruin the underbody of my 68 VW.
I think the more time passes the less likely Jeb is going to re-enter politics. (P)rick Scott is continuing some of Jeb’s ideas and they’re not popular with Floridians by any stretch of the imagination. We have not forgotten what Jeb tried to do to us.
My God. The Obama campaign has found out about firebaggers (Yay!) and they don’t like us one little bit (Boo!). … Predictably, Queen of the Firebaggers, Jane Hamsher at FireDogLake, having been dropped from blogrolls and ridiculed and smeared at many popular liberal blogs from Kos to Balloon Juice for her outspoken opposition to Obama’s serial caving, wasn’t having it. Like me, she’s probably more annoyed than offended, but she probably knows that with those words, a million new firebaggers will be born.
Hahahaha! I know what you mean! We had one that we wanted to put seatbelts in (they didn’t have them at that time). We found some in an auto junk yard and had them installed but they pulled out of the floor because it was so rusty!
Our feet would get wet if we drove through puddles! Oh how I wish we had it now. I saw one restored the other day. What beautiful lines they had.
Mine was an old convertible. I bought 10 cans of black spray paint at the hardware store and “refurbished” her a little. Top and interior. Passengers found the residual fumes and black paint on their clothes not amusing.
There’s a woman here who has a restored black 70 convertible. It’s coated with something that prevents rusting. Gorgeous car. Loved me bug. Would love to have another. I put 360K miles on my 68.

Years ago, one of my old bosses had a square back that seeped oil continuously. All over his driveway to his multimillion dollar house in a very exclusive suburb. He decide to sell it with an ad in the local newspaper. Early Saturday, disguising my voice, I called and inquired about the car — in particular, whether it seeped oil. He said, not that I know of. To which, I yelled, you lying mother fucker and hung up. Denied ever making the call.
Eventually, it caught fire in a busy intersection. When folks rushed to help with extinguishers, he fought them off yelling, let it burn.
I know the sound and you are right, it ain’t there with the new ones. I try to describe it, but can’t. Almost like a bright, shiny chain dragging on the ground under and behind it?
OmAli, from downstairs: my daughter is a teacher and she’s mentioned the kids at school who need extra help with reading. More than read to the littlest ones, you might ask if you could help with the kids who need reading tutoring.
I’m so glad I went to the AG website and used their form to send him an e-mail of support. I hope more people do. I told him that I felt like he was fighting for not just the people of New York but for all of us. I hope he keeps up the fight. I figured getting words of support wouldn’t hurt.
Before I went back to grad school, I had a ’69. Sunburst orange with a black top and interior. One night, I pulled up to a party and parked right behind an old claw foot iron bathtub turned upside down. Came out of the party somewhat tipsy, forgot about the bathtub, waved to the folks on the porch, gunned it and drove right up on top of the bathtub. She was a little light in the front end.
I went to Schneiderman’s web page yesterday and left a message of support. I think a few other Firepups did, too. This is the kind of courage and “spine” we need in our officials!
Yes, it’s really difficult when you have a full time job. I should really do that here, too, since I’m retired. I am pretty busy, but could fit in some of that extra help.
Were you aware that our Christy is now volunteering at the Peanut’s school library? (At least, I *think* it’s a volunteer thing, but quite a bit of time, I believe.)
we are all so rightfully leery of making any politician a hero, but he appears to be the real deal – eg, he was instrumental in the campaign to roll back the draconian Rockefeller drug sentencing laws, and I’ll be go to hell, he actually works with and not just talks to anti fracking activists
one marked mofo if you ask me
and Missouri Mule – good on ya !, I called as well
She sounds like a beaut!! Isn’t it funny how we name our cars? Bernice. Gotta love her.
This will sound so dorky, but my favorite car was my 2000 Daiwoo Nubira stationwagon. I called him Nubie, which is a common nickname in Egypt.
It was a gorgeous green/gold with cream leather interior, and I think, sexy lines. I know those cars are considered crap, but I took such good care of him, he looked and ran like out-of-the-showroom when I sold him (sniff) last year. My cup holder wasn’t even broken!
He took good care of me, and I hope will do the same with his new owner.
My daughter is a “Technology Instructional Assistant” and teaches technology to the entire school. Groups of students come to the computer lab 40 minutes once or twice a week. During the course of the week she sees the entire school, grades K – 4th.
She has a teaching degree but let her certification lapse while she stayed home and raised her daughters, so she has to take a couple of courses to get her certification back. Trying to do that, teach, look after a husband, two daughters, and a big dog, keep house, etc. is really a big challenge.
When Amon Ra died I ended up buying a new 92 Toyota pickup cuz I had a 5.2 meter G-Cat catamaran and VWs can only tow empty little red wagons and I had been borrowing trucks. Still have it. Never named it though. Just doesn’t have the karma
She is really juggling a lot. That is tough, seeing that many students during the day/week. Each with his/her own abilities and needs.
There are some creative ways to recertify. I was able to do it by working at our local nature center leading classroom study walks. There are probably some interesting ways she could do it, but it doesn’t sound like she could possibly wedge anything else into her day…
She is signed up for an online class worth 3 credits. I think she only has to get 6 credits to be recertified.
In addition, her two girls are enrolled in dance classes and her husband has a two-hour commute and doesn’t get home until 7. He is a good and helpful husband and father, but can’t run the “shuttle” for her.
I admire her persistence and dedication.
She was just saying that she has to learn about 140 new students’ names this year!
What an adventure. You must have some great photos and memories. For everyone’s sake let’s hope the situation improves.
I love N. African and Central Asian textiles so would love to have the opportunity to haggle in the souk. Also have a real passion for the brass tray tables with wooden folding bases. I have way too many, but can’t stop. One of my favorite textiles is a Turkman saddle bag large enough to pack my small table.
Was always a fan of the El Camino with a 350. (When gas was cheap.) Had 10 of them. Cruising at 80 with a huge cupboard on the back, listening to Nazareth or Black Sabbath blaring, no passenger, open windows “blowin’ back my har.”
Perry’s got no chance of getting the nomination, what with his fruity New Apostolic Reform friends and all. Seriously, he’s a moronic nut.
Romney would be the best next POTUS. He’d do most of the corporatist crap that Obama’s doing, but would call it something other than liberal while doing it.
What is it about NY Att’ys General that makes them so feisty and (happily!) in attack-dog mode? I wish other states’ AsG were as bold (in the positive direction, of course — here in AZ all state gov’t is hopeless).
Morning, BT.

Good morning, BT. Thanks for the links. Do you swim, BTW?
Mornin’, BT, pups
I sure hope KKKarl Rove is having nightmares.
Found this to be very amusing, BT. From Cocktailhag, one of my favorites:

Good morning, SD. How are you and the kittehs? Weather ok?
I haven’t started reading yet. What is up with that monster Rove?
To him, this must be the perfect storm. Better call Jeb, Karl.
Oh, that. I doubt if people sans soul can have nightmares. I hope he sees hellfire when he looks in the mirror.
Are you on the water? Or in it? :)

I guess this is catching up with Rick Perry.

Had one of those. Driving down the GW Parkway one evening, the battery under the back seat fell through the floor plan.
I think the more time passes the less likely Jeb is going to re-enter politics. (P)rick Scott is continuing some of Jeb’s ideas and they’re not popular with Floridians by any stretch of the imagination. We have not forgotten what Jeb tried to do to us.
I got in mine one morning to go to work at the VA and the seat went through the floor. Sure glad it didn’t wait until I was on the road.
A little more from Cocktailhag:
If only.

coke out the nose. ouch.
Mine was an old convertible. I bought 10 cans of black spray paint at the hardware store and “refurbished” her a little. Top and interior. Passengers found the residual fumes and black paint on their clothes not amusing.
But I was shittin’ in the high weeds!
There’s a woman here who has a restored black 70 convertible. It’s coated with something that prevents rusting. Gorgeous car. Loved me bug. Would love to have another. I put 360K miles on my 68.
Don’t get any ideas. Seems like SD has some tall ones in his back yard!
The new bugs are so fat and unlovely. The old ones were really much more refined, in a bug-like way.
I had a 70. Light blue. We called it the Blue Jewel. But its back fender wasn’t pretty like the old 68.
There are quite a few old bugs here. Nothing sounds like the old bugs. There was a time I could rebuild the engine in a coma.
Mine was turkey shit green (English racing green) and was called Amon Ra. Cops on St Pete Beach knew I was in town when they saw it.
Good Morning Blue Texan and Firedogs,

OmAli, I left you a reply downstairs. Thanks for asking! Gotta get back to work now.
I drove a Brazilian made Bug In Tripoli in the early 80′s.
I would flip Moamar the bird as I cruised past his heroic billboard en route to Tunisia.
Glad I’m not there now but have great affection for the Libyan people.
If only we’d keep our nose out of there.

It was a cute car though.
Ever work on a Karmen Ghia pancake engine with those dual SU carbs? Made ya wanna blow the damn thing up. Great little car, though.
I’ll go see. Have a good day and thanks for the Diet Coke!
Can’t.Stop.Laughing. OMG

Love the name.

That’s such a wonderful thing to do. Wish I had the time to do that.
That is an even better idea. I used to teach Science in grades 4-8, and though I don’t want my own class again, I would love to help out.
My hat is off to your daughter. What grade or grades does she teach?
Before I went back to grad school, I had a ’69. Sunburst orange with a black top and interior. Is Eric Schneiderman finally the person to draw the line in the sand?
First they threatened him at the funeral of NY Gov. Carey, and finally when he wouldn’t take the hint, had Tom Miller Bork him.
This leads directly to the White House and he can take the whole corrupt shit hole down.
Schneiderman, is a hero of what’s left of The Republic.
I had a ’67 Convertible, white with red interior thankyewverymuch, named Bernice. so very reliable, and easy to maintain
LOL Got that right. If ya had a friend with ya you didn’t need a jack to change tires, just a block to set the car back down on.
I went to Schneiderman’s web page yesterday and left a message of support. I think a few other Firepups did, too. This is the kind of courage and “spine” we need in our officials!
Did you get to Morocco while you were in N. Africa?
I have always wanted to go. We had just about leased an old Dar in the Medina at Fez but had to cancel when we had a serious illness in the family.
Now I’m a little too scared of the political situation.
Here’s the online contact form for Schneiderman. Send him an attaboy.
He’s one of the few.
God be with him.

What’s the story on the threat at Carey’s funeral? I hadn’t heard about that.
Why am I not surprised. Christy is such a good soul. The Force is strong with that one.
She sounds like a beaut!! Isn’t it funny how we name our cars? Bernice. Gotta love her.

Good Morning All, Thanks for your note last evening…Getting a late start this am.
I rode the “Marakesh Express” my first Christmas in Libya. First class tickets spent riding in the corridor sitting on my backpack.
Christmas in McNezz where I saw the best belly dancer ever.
New Years eve at the Petit Auberge in Casablanca where Marlin Brando used to hang out.
I love North Africa and will return if the situation improves.
Never mind, I found it. Taibbi had a great take-down of that “indefensible” remark.
Saw this just as I was leaving.
She is really juggling a lot. That is tough, seeing that many students during the day/week. Each with his/her own abilities and needs.

I have many hand-died and rough woven Libyan prayer rugs bought haggling at the souk near “Martyr’s” Square in Tripoli.
Incidentally, I got lost in the giant souk in Fez and wandered around for hours till I finally found a way out.
Saw a tannery on the way and have a new respect for Morrocan leather. What a rooftop hellhole.
Were you aware that our Christy is now volunteering at the Peanut’s school library?
Gosh, how I miss her. Thanks for the update, msmolly.
Pretty fragrant, too, from what I have been told.
I am so envious, I can’t tell you. Just read a book called ‘A House in Fez’ and I can see how you might have gotten turned around. What a labyrinth.
Want.That.Hat.
Jema’s (guitar)? They’ve been here a couple times. Great music.
That’s the one.
Great song. Beautiful singer. Still want the hat.
Take care.
I’m a sucker for the long black haired Middle Eastern or Asian look.
