Rick Perry, who clearly has as his biggest priority making you think he’s carrying a concealed weapon, hit the Iowa campaign trail with gusto on Monday. And given the strong insanity of his opponents he knew he needed to make a big splash. Mission accomplished sir, mission accomplished.
“If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I dunno what y’all would do to him in Iowa but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas. Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treasonous in my opinion.”
So monetary policy by a Bush appointee in charge of “monetary policy” becomes treason. Meanwhile, secession, is the height of patriotism. If nothing else in the last decade you would think we’ve had enough of Republicans accusing others of treason, or questioning others’ patriotism — but no, Perry is merely its hypocritical perfection.
Time to unleash Iowa’s only defense mechanism against right-wing lunatics. The corndog picture.

Unleash the corndogs!
It’s really gross, but you made me laugh.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Priceless! Thanks.
Perry can’t even say the Pledge of Allegiance without lying (one nation under God indivisible). Job qualification FAIL.
I want some entertainment. Bring in Romney.
Whoa, doesn’t Rick Perry have handlers? Or does he just love the corndog too much? Paris Hilton wouldn’t get herself into a photo like that without a contract.
That’s a Corporation size CornDog, Rick. “you sure got a pretty mouth..”
Man, I need brain bleach.
Thank you, Attaturk!
i think
can’t get the image out of my head
feeling kind of sick
Inciting violence against a man who was appointed by the President and confirmed by Congress? Did Perry just break the law?
He looks like a pro sucking down that hot dog.
Good morning, pups. Mr. Nocera is flying solo because Bobo and Roger Cohen are off today, so it’s shaping up to be a pretty good day. Mr. Nocera has a question: “What is Business Waiting For?” He says our current government isn’t going to create jobs, so it’s up to business to do it. But, but, but… Mr. Nocera doesn’t seem to grasp that paying somebody to do a job takes that money right out of the pocket of the “job creator,” and that poor soul probably has a family to feed, or kids in college… (I’ve heard that excuse from one of our bosses about why we haven’t had a raise in 4+ years. Bitter? Me? Not much…)
Here he is.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got toasted Thomas’ English muffins with butter and your favorite jam. The kittehs are still a bit nuts (full moon) so I’d better go feed them before they find some creative havoc to wreak. Have a great day.
What about secession from the Union? How does he feel about that?
Also, I can’t remember where I heard this, but apparently he’s so weirdly vain that he shaves his legs. Whoever heard of a man shaving his legs? (Not that it matters, of course.)
Good Morning all,
There shall be no religious test for President other than the corn dog worship test.
Perry for President is like putting hot compresses on an abscess. Let’s get all the Republican pus up and out into the sunshine.
Read or watch Jim Hightower on Perry. He exposes what a total corporatist lackey he is, among other things.
He was on Lawrence O’Donnell tonight – clip
Hightower = national treasure….Thanks
Watch carefully for the lost ‘g’ at the end of every ‘in’. Rachel did a job on his writing about how federal SS and Medicare are unconstitutional.
Heh. I’m old enough to remember Joe Namath’s commercial for pantyhose. Those certainly looked shaved to me!
Dunno if granting space to this buffoon is even worth it.
What has once been seen cannot be unseen.
Boxturtle (*shudder*)
Perry may be a buffoon, but he’s a very dangerous buffoon. I just hope that the sound of that voice gives people nightmarish flashbacks to W…
Ask any competition swimmer about shaving their legs. Most bodybuilders shave as well.
Boxturtle (I’m neither, so I’m furry)
And he will have a LOT of money backing him. The GOP money has been holding back, the current crop of wingnuts is too much even for them and Mitt is “weird”. Perry, otoh, works with the trailer park and the corporate wings of the GOP.
You’re going to see a slick, professional sales job of Prezdnt Goodhair.
Boxturtle (His VP will be a bone tossed to the wingnuts. Bachman?)
We’re going to have to disagree on that. Perry doesn’t have the chops to run nationally and too many skeletons in his closet.
Just one more reason to look askance at the Palin/Bachmann/Perry/etc. wing of the Republicans.
And as I leave for work here’s a report from the front lines in the class war.
Gives me flashbacks to Greg Stillson.
You mean like this? Or these? Or perhaps even this? Then there was the time he advocated secession.
Sure he’s got money backing but you guys spend too much time lending the mainstream media’s latest leg thrill credence.
I agree with everything you’ve said about Perry. But I think you underestimate the power of money in politics. There’s nothing you listed that can’t be overcome with slick advertising, coupled with a demonization campaign against his rivals.
Besides all your links are to think progress. The average American will be getting their info from the big 3, CNN or Faux.
Boxturtle (Hell, just running on an “I’m not Obama” platform will get him to 44% of the vote)
OT, bu wow, did everybody see these tweets reposted by Aravosis -
@markknoller: Asked about working with Congress, Pres Obama says democracy has always be “a messy business” & is not for the “faint of heart.”
2@markknoller: Pres Obama likens it to his marriage: I let Michelle have 90% of what she wants – but I have to insist on getting 10%.
He’s almost laughing in our faces at this point.
No they aren’t. One is a youtube video. Plus all of those stories can be found elsewhere. You guys can waste your time on Perry but I have to go to work.
Of course, the right does not need our votes, it’s all about fact-free voting block that only listens to Faux. Parry will be funded by the corporate welfare crowd, that counts on his continuing to use taxpayers to fund them and to do away with any protection of public interests.
Just another Repblican blowhard.
If Hairy Perry wants to speed up he could shave off his BUFFOONT hairdo.
Paris Hilton is smarter and nicer than Rick Perry.
What you fail to consider, my friend, is that the person driving that limo may be poor.
A little deep throat action on the corn dog.
Greg Stillsen… nice comparison. How many people will need The Google to learn who that is?
Greg Stillson and hot dogs were inseperable. He’d pass them out for free at his campaign rallies.
All Perry needs is a hard hat, and with his “focus on jobs”, that’s coming soon.
It depends on what kind of deal Perry can cut with WSJ and the other PTB. If he passes their test, they will ensure his victory. Bush was an old-line WASP with whom they were comfortable. Perry is a true Yahoo. I don’t think the PTB are comfortable with him right now. His big job over the next six months isn’t seducing the public, it is seducing the PTB by convincing them he isn’t as crazy as he actually is. The other thing is that the PTB are happy with Obama, so why run unnecessary risk?
Spending yesterday yelling, “treason” at Obama isn’t what you’d call a good start. I think he’s there to fall on the Tea Party grenade. He makes Mr. Inevitable look good, and blocks Michele Bachmann by splitting her constituency. Parting gifts to follow.
A guy who can’t get through the Pledge of Allegiance without lying through his teeth? Call him a Republican.
What you call “monetary policy” is what increasing numbers of voters are calling an insane credit-card spree for no better reason than the apparent belief that it may temporarily buff up some economic indicators just before an election. Perry will win more voters by identifying this tactic as treason than the President will win by advocating higher deficit spending.
So where was Perry calling out GW Bush for treason when the Bush Admin engaged in major “credit-card sprees” during the whole of his 8 years in office?
Oh, lest I forget, with you it’s always: IOKIYAR.
Got it.
P.S. there is no difference anymore between so-called “Democrats” and so-called “republicans.” Both arms of the corporatist party are working for/bought off by the upper 2%. Neither party works for sclubs like you and me.
I agree with you. My “bet” is that if the PTB, esp the money boys, decide that they like Gov Goodhair better than Obama, then Goodhair will “win.” But I’m inclined to believe that Obama’s got a lock on 2012 bc from the perspective of the upper 2%, what’s not to like with their “employee” Barack Obama. The mega-rich & well-connected have done very very well during this Admin. Just ask Daryll Issa: CHA-CHING!!!$$$!!!
Josh Brolin is not the world’s greatest actor but he can do Texas. Texas is a whole “nother” thing.
|Whoever heard of a man shaving his legs?
Competitive swimmers and bicycle racers. I’ll bet neither eat very many corndogs, though. That pic is going to end up as a number one Google hit for “Rick Perry”, mark my words.
Has everyone done the obligatory Google for “santorum” today?
