cleared up some this afternoon but the clouds started piling up against the horizon towards sunset. 40% chance of rain tonight and about the same for showers tomorrow
Aloha, Mz…! I’d read a comment on one of the Steely Dan clips, that said two guys had realized they had every track of Steely, then spent an entire day listening to ‘em, from the first track to the last…! ;-)
Nope. Just hung out with family in the Gallatin Valley. Nice. Restful. And, the TSA people were all really nice. I’d gotten to the point where I didn’t want to fly anymore because of the hassle. I did some attitude adjustment and decided to just go with it…..if I got groped, I’d decide that getting groped was an adventure. But, no, no groping! I flew on older planes that actually had “first class”…..and for a $20 upgrade I bought 5 extra inches and ended up in “first class.” I’m old enough to remember……..
Anyone who has flown in the past decade will know that an extra 5 inches of leg room is really heaven in the air! And I’ve flown back from Bozeman on airplanes that didn’t even have a bathroom (seriously!) so this was truly a heavenly flight. Really lifted my spirits!
Steely Dan created a monster when they launched long ago with Can’t Buy A Thrill in ’72 . . .
Walter Becker n Donald Fagin created a sound that would forever stand for top shelf quality picking and playing and sanging and arranging . . . NO ONE (except for Miles n a few other Jazz Kats) ever influenced so much music (ok, Beatles/Elvis) for so long.
I’m a huge fan of them thru the years, and I was but a scant year out of higher school when Thrill launched.
Start to finish, it embodies to this day every facet and nuance of their sounds on every project they ever did . . .
Indeed. What was interesting to me is that when flying back from Europe on European airplanes, infants on laps have a special lap belt that protects them. There were a couple of loose infants on my return trip. Now, I’m savvy enough to recognize that if a plane goes down, it probably doesn’t matter who is strapped in, but it surprised me that in the ‘exceptional USofA’ we don’t strap infants in at all.
Interestingly, any flight that goes over Israeli Airspace, that everybody has to be strapped into their seat the entire time, forget about using the Latrine…! I sh*t you not…! 8-(
Thanks for your offerings, but tonight something my nephew said pulled me WAY BACK. Picture yourself a kid in the ’50′s. You open a present from your uncle and put it on the record player. And, you get: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpcyHiC9jgA
Going to have to strap on the travelin shoes for the first time in like 11 years next month. Hope after i get over the whole TSA thing and get to where i am goin my old feet will remember.
I can hardly believe anyone is still up and clicking .. just finished a poker tourney and stopped by to peruse .. great to see all .. specially you CT .. babie s will be fine and Grampa’s too .. ’tis only the beginning of a long love affair with yer own kin .. /s
Mmm .. the word “nurture” will finally make sense .. total sense .. at least for me .. its like I can feel the heartbeat of each of mine no matter where they be .. here and gone .. up in 5 hours to help my feeb-folk .. cherish every moment, man .. *soft smiles and away***
Oh yes a big go on that and bet some of the best bay area musicians and loony tune people will be there. We are shipping down red salmon, halibut, lingcod an yellow eye.I wont be sending my halibut cheeks as they are best in my freezer. Hope to pass through Oregon an Washington on my way back in Oct.
