g’evening peeps — how’s everyone doing tonight?
9.5…!
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…!
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
Nice dive, Suzanne.
Greetings from Chicagoland!
-J
greetings foxman — how’s chicagoland tonight?
Another gloomy day here…! I might of seen the Sun once for about 15 mins…! 8-(
same here dood :( i have rain in the forecast starting tomorrow afternoon through sun nite and mon is supposed to have showers. i’ve still had only 4 days in a row of sunshine this summer
Cool (67), but humid (92%)?
but it beats the weeks of 90/80.
And how is the left coast tonight?
beat me to it.
ugh — humid is the worst. nothing like drying off after a shower with a damp towel – double ugh. but at least the temps have improved for ya. the northern left coast feels like fall is in the air – has been dropping a degree or two each night for the past week.
*heh* And here I thought I lived in the rainiest town…! ;-)
its not the rain that bothers me — i got just about the same average rainfall (70″/year) when i was living in the redwoods — tis the grey skies day after day that get to me.
SUZ!!!!!CTUT!!!!!
How are ya, you late night holders of the light?
Been a long time between many moons…
Ah, humidity…the air that you can wear.
I hear ya, it is rather nice to see sunshine from time to time…!
ed!!! how the hell ya been dood?
Aloha, edve…! It has been moons…!
hey ofg — how ya doing tonight? you back home?
In the middle of a storm now.
hey wsmoke — how was your day? how bad of a storm?
Livin life, breathin deep, dancing in the garden in the moon light…
How are ya Suz…gettin the chance to be the best grandma??? I bet you are!
Yes CT…it has been many moons…but you know how life weaves it’s way down many paths…but it’s always good to circle back and re-visit where ya been!
Hey all! It was glorious today — 78 and sunny. Breezes tonight and moonlight.
i’m so loving being a grammy ed — can ya believe she is already 4 months old? i put up her most recent photo up at my place. hard to believe but she gets cuter every day and she started out already at the top of the cuteness scale
Rained in the afternoon and then humid, now stormy. Don’t mind the lightning and thunder, but the winds I could do without.
hey ce — how ya doing tonight?
Evenin Suz an Tut an all the great firedawgs. I will say that rain and grey skies are wonderful at keeping the people away. Best repellent i know of.
speakin of the moon…here’s one for ya all….
yikes — is it that same deadly storm that blew down the stage at the indianna state fair today?
hey homeroid — how’s homer tonight?
wow, i’ve never heard of them… that’s sweet – thanks
I knew you would Suz…I will travel over to your site soon…wanna see the wee one…they sure are amazing, and the ultra cuteness justs tugs at the heart like nothing can…how’s the Mom doin?
That was earlier, killed three people. Really nasty.
What a great cartoon. I remember seeing a few flowers in my mom’s garden go bloop, down a hole just like those spinach plants did, and thinking “wow, it really is just like the cartoons”…
jen decided not to return to work and be a full time stay at home mom. julianna is thriving and jen is glowing
Hey Suzanne,
Great! It is very late for us — MrCE is snoozing so I’ll have to leave soon. Wedding plans are coming to a conclusion. The dress and shoes purchased. One month minus two days left. Yikes! This is crazy.
Good evenin to ya ce…hope you are well!
i can see why ya would be worried about the winds. i get some nasty ones in the winter here on the oregon coast.
hey margot — how ya doing tonight? glad ya liked it — i really liked the ending where they work together in spite of their differences.
and the gopher eating spinach and saving popeye was just forking cool!
ohmystars it really is getting close. thank goodness you are the mother of the groom and not the mother of the bride this go round. motb is intense!
Love that name Julianna…and good for Jen…those wee ones love it with Mom being around all the time…the very important years are the early ones…IMHO
They say more tomorrow, hopefully not as violent.
Indeed I am! Thanks for asking. Lovely to see everyone tonight.
Awww, for all you whiners…
Here by the beach today it was bee-yoo-tee-ful. Had our annual block party. Couple of bounce house and slide thingees for the kiddies, big community barbecue, obscene amount of home cooked food (everything from chicken teriyaki and salads to cookies and brownies), lots of conviviality and a good time had by all.
Oh, yeah, the weather: low 70′s, sun in-and-out behind some wafty high clouds, very slight breeze.
BTW Suzanne: I was born in Oregon. Tourists come through during those two weeks during the summer when the sun shines, look around, say, “Oh, look at the wonderful green everywhere. It’s so beautiful!” Anybody who lives there knows the truth: the rest of the year it’s rain, rain, and more rain, and when it’s not raining it’s gray depressing overcast interrupted by drizzle.
Evenin Margot…hope all is well…
I guess that makes those “sunny daze” all that more precious!!
jen is such a good mom – i knew she would be back when she was a little girl. she’s always been so nurturing and loving and gentle with wee ones
*heh* That’s why all the Tourists flock to the Kona side of the Big Isle, they can’t handle the Hilo side rains…! ;-)
Sleepy here too–goodnight all!
yikes — i hope its not — high winds are so dangerous
Rainy daze
Thinking of visiting Hilo in March — my co-worker did last year for the Hilo marathon, and LOVED it.
That’s cool that she can afford to do so these days…! *g*
I would venture to say that lil Julianna is lucky wee one to have a good Mom and Grandma…bless her
hey beach — how ya doing tonight — are ya still full or are ya munching on leftovers? this is my 3rd summer up here — the sunshine days are so spectacular in contrast to the gray ones. even in winter when its below freezing outside, sunshine makes it look it is nice enough to go outside instead of making me want to crawl back into bed like the gray can do.
g’nite margot
Time for bed, g’night all and pleasant dreams.
between mikes job and his coast guard retirement, they can swing her not working. i was so happy when she told me she had decided to stay home.
aw shucks, kicking dirt, thanks ed
EvilDrPuma so cracked me up in the last thread with this:
“And Newticles is running on fumes…and that only because he has his head so far up his ass that he tastes his burritos twice…”
G’niter wsmoke
the sky is crying
g’nite smoke
hey robert — how’s soPA tonight? wasn’t that a hoot! edp forking nailed newt
oh!!! NASTY! A pack of rolaids and off he goes….
Awesome…! Let me know more and I’ll steer ya in the right direction, and, would finally get to meet a real life Fire pup, face-to-face…! *g*
The Robert mowed the lawns, wacked the weeds and trimmed the hedges and low dangling tree branches for the last time this year….
Great one Suz…ah BB and the late, great Paul Butterfield…one of a kind!
*zombie happy dance*
Kinda sad. Watched a small org called Howl that took kids out and kept them doing kid things, have to move out. They lost funding. So i guess in a few years those 10-14 year olds will have the time to loot stores an such. What can i say but ya get what ya pay for.
Well gotta move on…early morning to rise…
Suz…it is always a pleasure to be in your company…may you, Jen, and Julianna be well and the sun shine on ya…
pleasant dreams pups…till next time…
tis one of my favorites — has srv just as he was starting out — bb called him new blood. iirc, it was from a new orleans fest
fuck that blows dood
g’nite ed
One of the central themes that ran through the London Riots, was that numerous Youth programs had been shut down earlier in the trouble spots…! 8-(
We are seriously thinking of spending a week in Hilo. We have significant birthdays and want a week at the sea. In winter. I’ll let you know details.
In Britian, Carmeron decided to strip any found to have been involved in or related to anyone who participated in the riots of welfare and subsidized housing.
First to be evicted and made destitute was a young single mother whose younger brother was IDed….
Bowie love…
Pleasant dreams, edve and the earlier sleepers, Margot and smoke, etc…!
tropical? in the winter? that sounds wonderful ce. i spend christmas in honolulu when i was 3 months pregnant with jen — it was gorgeous weather
bowie and srv
Winter in Cleveland is six months of every year. My friend flew to Hilo, first class, on air miles for free. Wowza! That is my goal.
Sickening all the way around…! 8-(
I only caught part of that, but hell what to expect when WE hit the streets. I am old i will stand in front.
I love that also!
*shiver* my neighbors to the north spend summers here and then return to arizona for the winter.
That’s the new way of the MOTU employees: squeeze the poor for every dime they have left, and make them and their babies homeless and to starve dare any of them show any inclination to disrespect their ‘betters’….
It is almost 2:00 am, and I should bid you all goodnight. Cheers friends.
g’nite ce
It’s hard to fly straight into Hilo these days, either Oakland or LAX are the only flights into Hilo…! Used to be a daily O’Hare to Hilo back in the ’80s and ’90s…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, Chris…! Drop me a line later on…! ;-)
This is just So Wrong….they’re amping it up to create a meltdown that outshines the complicated arrangements the Uber Lobbyists, the Camerons, the Obamas, etc. have with the New World Order. imho
Also, our new shiny Military hardware is civilian control. So, we don’t get taxes paid back into our infrastructure for the new shinies, right? That becomes a Boeing product, or a Martin Lockheed product, right?
I think I know too much!!!!
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight?
Hey and Sweet dreams, ChristineEdmonson. :]
Frigging gorgeous! Hope you had great weather the last few days.
evening, Suzzzz … firegods
i did until yesterday. how’s your garden?
hey ppd — how was your day?
Hey PPDCUS! How’s tricks?
That becomes a Boeing product, or a Martin Lockheed product, right?
With Boeing or Martin Lockheed ‘Green Tag’ MIC/Intel employees determining whom is a ‘threat’ too…! *gah*
Aloha, PPD…!
It’s a weird garden year, again. I’ve got killer beets that I’ve been cooking off in the smoker and then pickling. Long stemmed broccoli from the lack of sun. The poor basil looks like it’s mid July.Tomatillos [my favorite] aren’t looking promising. Second year in a row. The stats are really similar.
Potatoes, cabbage, onions, broccoli, hardy herbs. We’ll see on the green beans. It feels a lot more Northern than we used to be!
On the other hand, the new breed of meat chicken we’re raising is very nice. Well- proportioned, active, not freak-like monsters. They’re having a good life. For 2 more weeks. oh shit oh shit
Must say i did get to the farmers market today. The beets were in and the peas plentiful. Thanks to all those who grow our food.
*heh* That’s another bullet I took for ya, Suz…! ;-)
same down here produce wise. i’ve heard complaints about possibly no tomatos this year but the cool weather crops are going like gangbusters. most everything is a month behind the usual harvest.
did last year’s chickens get ya through the entire winter?
congrats on snagging the happy lucky 100 tut!!!
*wink wink* thanks dood
I swear the only veggies I can’t stand are beets…! I even like brussel sprouts…! ;-)
pretty good, thanks — not many tricks tonight.
I know who they think is a threat. I saw the video clip of the RayGun being used on faux “Anti-War Protesters” on the government leaked propaganda blurbs about 3 or 4 years ago. They flashed the info bright, hard and then there were no more stories, that I know of.
Now I hear it’s the place to put your stock portfolio. Or whatever people who make money on Evil call it.
dood, roasted beets are a completely different beet — have ya had ‘em roasted? tis like the difference between garlic and roasted garlic
Hmmm…! Food for thought there…! I’ve always steered clear of ‘em so I know I haven’t tried roasted beets…! Sounds intriguing…!
ohmystars, my downstairs neighbor brought me some beets her grandpa grew when they came back from the farm. i roasted them all wrapped in foil so beet juice didn’t drip and they were forking yummy! sorta nutty and smooth and firm, great hot smashed with butter or cold sliced into a salad. next time, i’ll roast garlic alongside of them in the foil
They got us through until April, when the new crop was 4 weeks old. But, we had grass fed beef, also. Didn’t do that this year. I had some piglets lined up last spring to raise this summer. But, the brood sow died. I’m sorry for the family’s loss; I’m forever grateful I didn’t get wiener pigs. Whew! dodged a bullet there.
are ya gonna do more chickens this year than last to make up for the lack of beef and/or pork?
Ya gotta roast the suckers. But i would give my left nut for fresh brussel sprouts. Local carrots are about 5″ next week they should be good for bread.
how do ya fix them? i roast them with an x cut with a knife on their bottoms, drizzled with oil oil, a wee bit of butter, salt, pepper (sorta like this) but i also sprinkle them with diced onion.
I hate brussel sprouts. They are an abomination in my culinary opinion. You can not cheese them, butter them, creamed them or pickle them enough to make a difference in their shitty flavor and texture.
Home grown beets, picked at their prime and slow smoked, lightly pickled are a whole “nuther thing. Especially, tossed into a salad with candied walnuts and sweet onion. Just saying.
Dayam, now I’m hungry again…! 8-(
Well. That’s a matter of consideration around here. It’s really easy to say,”Let’s do one more batch of 30″ when they’re all growing. Chicken harvest is a real bitch. A 12 night long, late night, real bitch. So, I’m kinda thinking I’ll just order the next batch into existence so we don’t have to think about it. It’s incredible meat. And a good way to produce meat in a none impact environment.
i just got done making an omelet and scarfing it down. i gotta do some grocery shopping. since my car is down for the rest of the month (brakes went out and i gotta wait until the first to get them fixed), my downstairs neighbors teen son volunteered to run me into town when needed. he’s got his permit and needs a licensed driver in the truck with him and i can easily do that. a win win :)
can ya grown them all year or do ya have a limited season for growing chicken meat?
Oh that sux about the brakes…! Is it the Master Cylinder, or the less expensive brake lines…?
not sure if its the master cylinder or the brake booster bladder thingie that sits behind it. everything else looks great but i was very low and fluid and the brakes dayam near go to the floor. he said to drive it home slowly and park it cause every time i brake puts more stress on the master cylinder.
i talked to busted about it yesterday and he verified what the mechanic told me. said that once it is broken down, the dood may well recommend replacing both. said its gonna be a couple hundred and hopefully not more
It is the cheapest(in all ways) meat source on the planet…! ;-)
tis about time for me to turn back into a pumpkin peeps. thanks for letting me hang out with ya this week. i’m looking forward to what tut has in store for ya this weekend :) hope to see ya there
g’nite all
Oh, I’m so sorry. My van is making noises that clear the walkers off the rural roads! I don’t take it into town except to get animal products; wood chips for bedding, feed, now straw bales. The defining point in a vehicles status around here is when you Haul Straw or Hay in it. My poor baby is now know as The New Beast. I loved that Ford van.
But, I’ll be able to treat her rotten for a few more years! Cuz, it’s a Ford.
Olive oil in the bottom of a glass dish. Garlic an onion if you like. Bake at 350 for thirty min depending on your oven. Add butter an enjoy. If the beets suck add honey and yogurt.
Yeah, that woulda been my next question…! Both the Master Cylinder and the Booster would be preferable to replace at once, but, if it’s the Booster, you don’t have to change out the MC too…! Preferable, but not needed…!
Hey Suz if it’s the brakes don’t pinch no pennies. Don’t care if it don’t go, but hell if it wont stop.
Sweet Dreams, Suz…!
Cuz, it’s a Ford.
Yeah, Fix Or Repair Daily…! 8-P
10 to 12 weeks on this new breed. The last ones were 7-10 or Oh,Shit they’re going to die of abnomalies! This crew is cool.
I’m refining my processing,[I'm the Processor, the person who does something with the whole, plucked bird] So we can pull 1 lb meat packets out of the freezer instead of 8 lb whole birds]. Plus, I’ve got enough quality chicken stock to fight off every bug this winter!
We’ve put almost no money into this car. I hate to get ride of it with the way the economy’s tanking. It sleeps 4. /s
I wouldn’t get rid of it either, I’m just a Chevy guy…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, Suzanne.
Yeah, our son bought a 1970 Chevy truck in great condition. He’s in love!
I had the bad experience of having my brakes fail at an intersection and broadsiding a detective’s car, who was jumping the green light.
A bad day, but not as bad as it could’ve been.
57 chevy-only way to go. F-ix O-r R-epair D-aily. Or Found on road dead.
My fave was a ’71 Silverado with a rebuilt 327 in it…! ;-)
home grown? can’t beet ‘em.
*heh* I do like my home grown…! ;-)
I’m sure he was amused…! ;-)
Yeah, it’s amazing how more alive homegrown tastes. We need small gardens planted in random, unexpected places, everywhere.
She said.
same here, CT
We need small gardens planted in random, unexpected places, everywhere.
No doubt about it, open…! City rooftops, in particular…!
Nice. Did you know the early 70′s toyota land cruisers had 235 GMC 6 cylinders in them. Same as my 57. Now a daze they are gas hogs compared to my 84 toyota 4 cylinder 4×4-pre computer mind you.
No, he was a dickwad. In the middle of the intersection while jumping a green light, with witnesses. I, on the other hand, was a young woman with no means of fighting the cops,..and no brakes. Also, because I’m a bloodline liberal to the core, I felt responsible since my brakes were feeling weirdly spongey the night before. fuck, it’s genetic, take responsibility…..oh yeah
Yeah, city rooftops. They’re some of the best climates. And they offer an oasis to the city dwellers. Or high density dwellers. We need high density, just don’t need to throw that rooftop space away like a “roof”.
That’s what I want now, a Toyota truck, 4 banger, and 2wd is cool enough…! ;-)
My son’s 350? Chevy engine is teaching the meaning of mortality in a way I never could!!! Fuck it gun it up that hill and see what it costs you, son.
Sweet dreams,all.
peace, laughter, strength
Sorry Tut was talkin else where. Look for pre 84 that’s when computers made it nut’s for anyone to work on. If you were here i would give you mine. Look’s like hell but always run’s
Sweet dreams, open…! I’ve got the honors tomorrow nite, hope to see ya there…! Aloha Oe, ya’ll too…! *g*
:]
