Wow Suz! Happy Friday!

Fine, it’s been a long week, glad as heck it’s over.

I can’t find enough great words for what Belafonte has sung n then worked for in terms of human rights, that are civil.
Bless that man . . . n kudo’s Suz for keepin the spotlight on him as you do . . . well done, sistah . . . well done.

Ah, them clouds… the first we have seen here in weeks…
Kept us from seeing the Perseids tonight at this latitude.
am glad i did some stargazing last night — saw several meteors streak across the sky before i got the shivers
I be lurkin here, Larue.
Hello, firebaggers….
hey robert — how’s soPA tonight?
We have continued thru winter, spring and summer to be so far below average temps that it’s scary as I watch Texas Betsy n Green Warrior bake at over 110F for months.
Mid to lo 90′s here now for ever it seems, when it might be 100F or 110F for days on end . . . so, I guess we is good and lovin it.
*G*
Did a new Let’s Pick today . . . some 8 vids or more. OCMS.
I love that band. I miss festing n pickin at fests, but aside from that, we be good and I got the toobz n my dobro’s to pick to. I’m a lucky dude ya know . . . check out my diary . . . ;)
/blogwhoring
lol
Persieds I hope . . . not so much luck here with the city lights n all, sadly . . .
We are fine here in PA. Still have our AAA rating….
its been the coolest may, june, and july in decades. weather dood said that pdx may not hit 90 at all this year — which would break a record from 1954. love ocms from the moment i first heard the opening notes
Hey!
Howdy Roberrrrre!
*G*
Hello all you mutts!
i’m set up perfectly to watch them — if the clouds let me. last night was the first time out of the 3 augusts i’ve been here that i’ve been able to see any of them
evening, Suzzzz … firegods
hey bg — how’s lm? how was your day?
hey ppd — how ya doing tonight?
pretty good, thanks — hope everyone’s well tonight.
Did not know ya were a fan . . . delighted to hear it!
Scroll thru my vids on the diary when ya can, I thot I presented them well and told their story well . . . they are easy to talk about, it’s their passion that makes it easy to be passionate about speaking of them.
I used to do this for money and student time both, long ago. Profile musicians, artists, dancers, dance and theater companies n such, for radio and tv. I sure miss that . . . wish I could get paid to do it again . . . for the arts and such . . oh well . . .
*G*
Who ya callin mutts ya Bagger . . LOL
*G*
KEWl!
gotta link dood? t’aint a proper blogwhore unless there’s a link *ducking*
Good Lord, I really liked me that video, Suzanne. Something about it seemed kinda Woodstocky to me….
it was way forking kewl larue — i was standing on the back deck and the moon had moved west so the deck was mainly in the house shadow. its been steadily dropping a degree or two every night – feels like fall is in the air
Ok? I wuz bein respecktful n such . . . ;-)
its been a while since i’ve featured them.. i’ll have to look for some new videos… this one is also a fav of mine
No ducking! That was just plain funny.
Dang, one of the one’s I used in my diary today . .
She got good taste, ya think?
*G*
Pickin me a bouquet of dogwood flowers . . .
Yeah, G or A . . . hit it! ok, Bf minor is good too!
*gasp* you running a fever or somethin? *g* go ahead, link away dood — lln is for blogwhoring and blogpimping and music and such
LM is doing well it seems. I was gone last weekend to WI! So I have not been here for 2 weeks almost.
My day was mixed. Fridays are pretty hectic for me, was only in ABQ for 2 days this week, had a lot of plumbing problems to deal with in those days. Barely got to see my kittehs or the garden.
thanks newton — i’ve known larue so long that i’ve found his chain is real easy to yank :) and i can certainly vouch for his fantastic cooking!
wi! how was your visit? musta been good to get away from it alll for a wee bit. especially considering plumbing problems upon your return :(
The ‘Curmudgeon of the Sturdy Whisk’ does have his moments. I can vouch for his sauces, or, rather, the confidence I gained in MY sauces by his instruction.
Kewl on the PERSIEDS . . . yeah, I’m smellin early winter temp wise.
But I got basil picked fresh in the freezer, a quart so far of pesto made with roasted garlic n toasted almonds (cheaper n pine nuts by far and cheaper n walnuts) . . . n have starter basils galore ready to be put into pots where plants are now that are gonna get pulled n pestod or frozen for winter!
‘GOTTA have my basil n pesto all winter long, just gotta!
*G*
I could not believe that the OFA coordinator for NM called people “Firebaggers” in his e-mail explaining how Obama hoodwinked Boehner in the fracking debt deal. For freaking real.
I like Bill Maher’s new name for teabaggers. He now refers to them as ‘Scumbaggers”….
dood, i would so love to watch a larue cooking show on the teevee machine or on the utube. and a larue cookbook — i could use a larue cookbook
hey suz, larue’s got that one up on his blog too! it is grrreat!
Yeah, I’m sure the big guy has the temperament for television…
holy moly bg… he called us firebaggers? good — we are getting under their skin if they are using insulting and demeaning terms
oooooo i like that one robert — they are the scum of the earth
DAyum I love that woman and that song . . . *heart*
Ok, thanks I was tryin to be polite . . . something I’ve failed at at times . . . lol
One Of Best Loved Efforts To Date.
I love pickin. N miss it at fests, LeSigh.
I stand proud of my firebaggerdom. Don’t feel demeaned at all….
Larue would have to share with me; I have in fact, taught him nothing, yet am excellent in mocking him. Heh!
hey gw! how ya doing tonight? larue and i have very similar tastes in music — we grew up in the bay area around the same time, listened to the same radio stations, etc., but he has better concert memories than i do
THAT’S some sick shit hoss . . . hope someone calls his ass out on it.
*spits*
Yep, it was the first time I really “got it” about the name. I was not happy. But I am pretty much over trying to be heard by that bunch. They are in some deep shite, for sure. Does not seem like calling people names is a very good idea, but yanno, we are fucking retards, so I guess they must think we won’t figure it out.
Chain and neck blushing . . . *pink*
i’m proud of it too but their intent was to insult and demean. shows just how much they don’t relate to us
kelly! how’s denver tonight? i can see it now — the kelly & larue foodfest
Heh, we KNOW this culprit?
*G*
FYI:
Creator of Obama “Hope” poster beaten up in Denmark
Shepard Fairey’s widely acclaimed “Hope” poster in support of Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign has gained him international renown, but an apparent misunderstanding recently caused Danish leftists to view him as a pro-government propagandist. Now Fairey and a colleague are recovering from a beating by two men who accosted him outside a Copenhagen nightclub last Saturday, accused him of being an “Obama illuminati,” and told him to “go back to America.”
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/08/12/creator-of-obama-hope-poster-beaten-up-in-denmark-misunderstanding/
‘Culprit’ is too non-specific.
I prefer ‘perp’.
Smooch, madame!
Well, it’s 12:37 am and the temp has gone below 90. I went outside earlier to see what I could see of the meteor showers in this full moon of ours and scared a deer enough that it made one of those hissing sounds, which scared me and I ran back in the house til I remembered what the sound was. Am about to go out and see if I see anything again. Will be wearing my rubber boots with the pink flowers on them. Rattlesnakes are in high season in the greenbelt behind my house this summer.
can ya email me that email if ya still have it?
FDL has chapters in Denmark? I don’t think beating people up is the way to solve things…most of the time. I’m going to read the link now.
madame
Heh, in jr college tv on air we did a show with the SWEDISH CHEF theme, meatballs, flour every where (man the station master engineer about shat on that) n a mess . . . it aired on KCSM-60.
Still have a 3/4 inch tape of it and others I did . . . likely fried n gone.
But man they was heady times. I was also out on the town recording vid n audio of bands, dance groups thru the Bay Area, theatre groups n more . . . all got aired on radio or tv that covered Bay Area . . . . CSM, TV60 PBS, FM 91.1 NPR.
DAMN that was fun times on a ramen budget (I worked full time in restaurants n never went hongry). *G*
i can totally imagine you doing this dood
bg — i gotta new pic of jujube up at my place
FDL doesn’t physically beat anybody up; ever. And suggesting that it does reflects really poorly on you, alone.
hey things — didn’t see ya come in — how ya doing tonight?
GW!
*hearts*

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/08/12/creator-of-obama-hope-poster-beaten-up-in-denmark-misunderstanding/
It does not seem to be about the youth house people angry enough about that to beat him up would have heard about his changes to the mural.
That leaves Obama is that unpopular as a motive but still many of the Left in America and Europe were taken in by Obama I don’t know what he has said about Obama recently but I think those guys should apologize unless he said something real bad.
Will try googling him now.
Been there, done that hoss.
I have a FACE for radio!
*G*
I was among a rotation of high school disc jockeys for a local radio 2 hour Sunday night show called Past Original. I did the last broadcast before they fired us all. It was a Neil Diamond Tap Root Manuscript blast.
I still have those 7 and half in reels, and someday I’ll locate and buy a big reel-to-reel to play them….
I.Can.Relate.
Talk about dumb, huh? I’ll look through the old stuff, maybe I saved it, just because. I hope I can find it for you. I was fairly speechless, but I did not go off on him. What a bad strategerie. Maybe they want to lose.
Kelly!
*EEKS*
Hoss, you taught me lots . . . I’d be yer sous chef anyday.
N I’d drink Belch n you under any table . . . *spffffttt*
N still be smilin n praisin yer talents . . . n sangin modal n minor.
But yer so gifted it’s sick . . . n I MEAN that. From the heart.
Thank you for all the work you’ve done n stuff you’ve compiled and shared with FDL . . . . yer such a hoss it’s impossible to sang yer praises in modal or minor fashion . . . ;-)
I’d have to use both white AND black keys . . . n I can’t do that . . ;-)
*smooches* n *clinkys* to you n yers from me n mine hoss . .
*G*
I get to toss first flour!!!!!!!!!!
i swear there are times i think he does wanna lose — oscam’s razor
i figure all would be good until it was time to select the music….
hearts and flowers back atcha, hoss
I’m not only bein killed here, but I’m dyin like grapes on a vine.
;-)
Nope – ha ha- I got the board covered!
He has Lefty Cred.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shepard_Fairey#Critical_response
But he is a plagiarist I don’t know enough about art to judge those charges.
http://hotlineoncall.nationaljournal.com/archives/2010/09/shepard_fairey.php
Now I really think those guys should apologize.
i’ve had this song stuck in my head all evening….
Tis late for me, me luvlies. I’m headed for the pillow.
g’nite gw
Hi guys.
Had a puppy play date earlier. Wore out the 3 puppies and I ended up stoned.
When did puppies become junkies?
Obama said it wouldn’t bother him if he was a one-term president. Heck, he guaranteed his future wealth and his place in history.
Of course, so did Herbert Hoover.
Does he care about historians comparing him to that?
hey tuez — sounds like a great way to spend a friday! here’s some brownies if ya gots the munchies :)
Pretty good the mosquitos are out we did not have them until we got 7 inches of rain in august normally they come out in june but every time it rained we had high winds and a drop in temperature after the rain and that seemed to kill them until now.
Then we would have the hot weather but no mosquitos until now. Global warming has benefits:)
doesn’t seem to have bothered him so far…
Yep, that was the model that one of the others in the group brought to us. I had never seen it, and knew right away, she had a genius idea.
She (forget her name) created the best ever student show broadcast live on that station ever, ratings wise. I was the audio guy at the time in the student production.
It remains one of my favs from then, late 70′s early 80′s. There were others I did more on, and created, but they were all arts related. Music, theatre n dance n painting n such . . . sure miss that stuff.
The money quote is really about how Obama ate Boehner’s lunch. Hilarious. But here’s the part about us:
Now let’s get to the fun part: the triggers. The more than half-a-trillion in defense and security spending cut “trigger” for the Republicans will hardly earn a mention on the Firebagger Lefty blogosphere. Hell, it’s a trigger supposedly for the Republicans, and of course, there’s always It’sNotEnough-ism to cover it.
I’ll send the whole thing to you, Suz.
Heh! you crack me up.
I’m sending you a homework assignment though; Patriot Act. You gotta stay un-stoned long enough to read it and score it by, heh, Tuesday.
*G*
May yer yeast steep too long . . .
*G*
sweet.. thanks bg
carnac!
And may yer mushrooms shrivel! Arrgh!
I am going to cut out now, nice to see you all, kinda like old home week. Ya mutts. Keep on truckin’ with the lefty firebagging blogosphere.
g’nite bg
It was a nice way to end a Friday. I mean seriously, 2 lab and 1 keeshond puppy and a couple helplessly fried owners watching said puppies act like puppies.
Of course, I’ve got a few strange toys left in my backyard. Do you know how much fun a few puppies can have with a phone book?
Evenin Suz an all the firedogs. Be wet tonight so the only shooting stars are on tv.
Or the computer should i be so inclined.
Long daze here. Summer can be a bitch. But i can look forward to the peace of winter. Which looks so far away right now.
Too kewl, aint them times incredible when we look back on them.
I spent almost 10 years doing it all while takin classes an workin in food biz, just to have access to a jr college radio and tv station and some 20 hours a week at $7 an hour and access to the studios.
I also covered politics for Bay Area the county . . . San Mateo.
It was insane . . . great stuff meeting Jackie Speir once just post Guyana with her arm in a sling as she ran for County Supes . . . n later for House Rep.
Met a lot of politicos, got to see all the Bay Area music awards shows. Damn, I wonder now how I let it all slip away . . . damn.
congrats on snagging the happy lucky 100 tuez!!!
I can handle that.
I’m only awake tonight because I remembered to let the puppy out one last time, but forgot to pee myself.
hey homer — how ya been? sorry i missed ya last night (or was it the night before) — you came in just after i left
lololololololol
*G*

Van, And It Stoned Me To My Soul . . . ;-)
Hey Newt, new coach, same ol’ Mrs. Alexis Smith. When are they going to cut that douchebag?
Neville Chamberlain, not Herbert Hoover.
Now that’s some legacy.
my cupboard are bare… maybe this will turn that worm
hey thatguy — how ya doing tonight?

Glad this week is over. Tired. J was out of town all week, good to have her back. Wish I was still at the cabin.
Pretty cool cabin, huh?
When they can afford to swallow his contract… never.
And yeah.
tis a wicked pissa of a cabin dood — life on the beach is good but i could totally see myself living in a cabin on a lake — tell j i waved howdy please
You have never got into a fight in your life over any of the ideas we talk about here at the Lake?
CHICAGO
HOG Butcher for the World,
Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat,
Player with Railroads and the Nation’s Freight Handler;
Stormy, husky, brawling,
City of the Big Shoulders:
They tell me you are wicked and I believe them, for I
have seen your painted women under the gas lamps
luring the farm boys.
And they tell me you are crooked and I answer: Yes, it
is true I have seen the gunman kill and go free to
kill again.
And they tell me you are brutal and my reply is: On the
faces of women and children I have seen the marks
of wanton hunger.
And having answered so I turn once more to those who
sneer at this my city, and I give them back the sneer
and say to them:
Come and show me another city with lifted head singing
so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning.
Flinging magnetic curses amid the toil of piling job on
job, here is a tall bold slugger set vivid against the
little soft cities;
Fierce as a dog with tongue lapping for action, cunning
as a savage pitted against the wilderness,
Bareheaded,
Shoveling,
Wrecking,
Planning,
Building, breaking, rebuilding,
Under the smoke, dust all over his mouth, laughing with
white teeth,
Under the terrible burden of destiny laughing as a young
man laughs,
Laughing even as an ignorant fighter laughs who has
never lost a battle,
Bragging and laughing that under his wrist is the pulse.
and under his ribs the heart of the people,
Laughing!
Laughing the stormy, husky, brawling laughter of
Youth, half-naked, sweating, proud to be Hog
Butcher, Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat, Player with
Railroads and Freight Handler to the Nation.

I shall not be one to go gently into that good night for sometimes revolution is needed and if your not angry about torture and civilians being killed by drones then your not paying attention.
FDL does not promote violence on the blog but many of us are angry we won’t become mad bombers like the Right but I think its safe to say many of us we will riot in the streets.
I was fading fast anyway. The work load now is heavy and the teaching the 20-somethings how to work has about drained my patience. There are a few who can concentrate for more than 30 seconds. I will email you as i have cool news and it could be a cup of coffee.
there’s a reason we keep all talk of violence and revolution and rioting off fdl things. i understand your personal feelings but comments encouraging that can and will result in your comment being moderated.
sweet… looking forward to it homeroid
Suz, there is a pic of my paternal grandmother on the wall of the cabin. She must have been mo more than about seven years old. She sure didn’t look like me but her face haunts me. She looked Romanian or something but my father’s side is Dutch and Irish. VERY strange. Sure is a nice place. I’ll send you some pix when we get the files off J’s camera.
I’m taking my overly happy self back to bed.
Mixing politics with a good buzz sucks.
Hey folks!
Is CT around?
It’s completely clear here on Maui, but the moon is quite bright. I’m wondering if I’m too late for the meteor shower.
Thingscomeundone: I believe as you do. I believe a second civil war is coming. They don’t like to read that here but I see the US as being like that old footage we’ve all seen a million times of two steam locomotives slamming into each other head-on. I see it as inevitable. There’s no way to avoid it.
so cool to have been in a place with so much family history. was the pic one of those unsmiling ones? so many of the old photos don’t have smiles unlike nowadays
Dried porcini’s?
Add merlot, reconstitute, consume . . . not comsumee . . . but that’s ok too . . lol
g’nite tuez
hey spocko! how ya been dood?
Hey Spocko, who are we trying to get off the airwaves now? I’ll help!
Very unsmiling. ALL the family pix were unsmiling. They all looked kinda like they had pinworms or something. ;-)
hey mauimom — weather dood said after midnight is the best time for viewing…. it didn’t sound like midnight was a local to oregon time — more like it is when the skies are really dark kinda deal
Yonder is so kewl! Have loved them for a decade too . . . only seen them once. Danged hippie pickers galore!
*G*
Yes, Suz, thanks so much for the Belafonte.
What a hero.
Perhaps he’d like to primary Obama.
night, Suzzz – be well
reminds me of the old portraits i see on antiques roadshow — so many unsmiling faces all looking so somber and formal and dignified. i guess that transition from paint and canvas to photography is reflected in the unsmiling faces
g’nite ppd
“Marty, that’s IT. We gotta go BACK to go FORWARD!”
*G*
Usually it’s great for star-gazing here [or meteors]: we’re up in the country, and there are no lights around anywhere.
However, right now the moon is so bright it’s hard to see anything else.
9 pm here would be midnight Oregon time. I’ll have to do some research. Ct would know these sorts of things.
LeSigh . . . lesigh . . . one of the best albums ever, in history.
LeSigh.
historys gonna change
i think it was midnight wherever ya are gazing from — that was my take on it
Hoss, you don’t pay attention to Kelly’s musings . .
He’s paid his dues n YOU just fucked with the wrong person.
He’s seen fists n more in his lifetime . . . honor that, will ya please.
We work to try and change the system to prevent a revolution but we are failing Obama the Dems and GOP stole our SS and Medicare we are at the edge.
We could not stop Obama the Dems and the GOP working within the system we did our job we provided other ideas besides cutting SS and Medicare we convinced a majority of voters to tax the rich more or end both wars rather than cut SS and Medicare but still we failed.
There is anger building in America the Tea Baggers are getting less and less popular creaming tax cuts for the rich as their followers realize its their benefits that are being cut as WallStreet gets bailouts.
I have no doubt many at the Lake are also angry.
‘Curmudgeon of the Sturdy Whisk’
Dayam, I’m gonna have to remember that one, newt…! ;-)
Aloha, Suz and pups…!
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
Blake said it better than me his condemnation.
Aloha, MM…! Mighty soggy here in Hilo town…!
*G*
I gotta go Suz, n Pups . . . bless alla yas . . . hug ‘em close n with dawgs luck we do it all again tomorrow . . . this was grand tonite, thanks to all.
*hugs*
Could always be better, M’dear…!
g’nite larue
or worse…
somebody mention “fever”?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ3amVBypEk
evenin’ all.
Hey that guy! Good question. Haven’t decided. Glad to know you want to help.
Right now I’m doing training sessions on how to create video clips that use the words of right wing groups and individuals to get themselves in trouble.
I’m training small teams of folks to develop questions, videotape the answers and they get their responses or overreactions out to the authorities,’public and/or media.
I’ve done two already and working on a third. Working title
“Wanna create a maccac moment?”
- how to plan for and implement the creation of video/ audio footage that costs right wing organizations and supporters money, jobs and political office.
If i did one for FDL member services do you think it would be popular? Useful?
hey jayt — how ya doing tonight?
oh, you know – hangin’ in, hangin’ on, hangin’ around.
*crazy* day. Glad it’s almost over.
You?
diff fever
hanging in and hanging on myself :)
Most definitely, spocko…! *g*
A diary your views on the fall of Glen Beck and Ruperts recent troubles would be good we need to take a victory lap every now and then and celebrate.
Ha!
thanks.
gotta watch out for them phone cops
I do. I already know how to do audio and video stuff but there are many who could be doing this. As much as anything, I want to be able to continue the campaign against KSFO and other right-wing outlets. I’ve been taking a sweet trip down memory lane reading old stories about Rodgers, Morgan and others who got shitcanned.
Remember Jim Eason? he self-destructed before we could get him.
tis about time for me to turn back into a pumpkin peeps. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight and i hope to see ya tomorrow night for sat nite cartoons.
g’nite all
I cannot even express my anger at the lake, not only at the politicians who betray us but the Pollyannas who tell us “oh, it’ll be all right.”
But I’m with you. I’d like to communicate with you some more on this topic, where can I contact you besides this place?
Hey Suze, sleep well.
Sweet Dreams, Suz…!
Part of it was the long exposure times. It’s easier to keep a grim face still than a smiling one.
One of the things that I realized when I was putting together these sessions was that the corporate media need us to do this work, because they will not. When Pew research did a study on 50 non profits they found they spent a lot of money on getting a story or sound bite out of some big event. The events goal was to get the presses attention, but the effort was often wasted. So I believe you need to make the news by forcing the right to overreact or say something that reinforces their lawlessness or cruelty.
There are techniques I developed to take any situation and turn it into news but hopefully not just boring news like another protest. I think that if people understood how to do this they could create a number of Maccaa moments for the right.
Using a combination of small teams and technology and advance planning we can do more harm than a 10,000 person protest or a 50,000 person petition.
Y’know, Suz, as I watch this, it occurs to me that encouraging Harry Belafonte to primary Obama might not be a bad a idea.
We ought to ponder it.
Wow, just popping in, waiting for the hot water bath canning to finish. Thank you,Suzanne! I needed this Harry Belefonte/Muppets song.
When my whiney voice comes out, spirals down and down, yet oddly highly piercing and sounds like Tinnitus….this is the cure. :]
I think it’s time to recover the artistic energy and communication that people respond to in Harry Belefonte. If segments like that were on Sesame Street when my kids were young, circa 1989-1997, I’d have let them watch more PBS/TeeVee. I was a “The Media Is The Message, What is the message” parent. Not a popular philosophy back then.
I know his energy is unique to him, but he’s old. He has used his energy wisely and continues to.
We need young, strong and the next generation. Imho
Harry, have you got an heir apparent? please
Good morning, pups. Gail Collins is still on book leave, so we have Mr. Blow and Mr. Nocera this morning. They are both looking at politics. In “Genuflecting to the Tea Party” Mr. Blow says that the Republican presidential debate this week sent one message: No G.O.P. candidate is fit to be president. Mr. Nocera offers a suggestion: “Boycott Campaign Donations!” He says Howard Schultz of Starbucks has come up with a Grand Idea to get a Grand Bargain out of Washington. He envisions a total strike on political contributions. Which will never happen…
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got your favorite omelet for breakfast today. I’m probably going to have a Swiss cheese omelet, with some broccoli sprouts on the side. Now it’s time for feeding kittehs, another cup of tea, and then out into the garden to see to the birdbaths, which are in great need of attention. Have a great day.
Suzanne, Thanks so much for posting that. I’ve always loved Harry Belafonte. After recent political events, I needed a lift. Waht a joy to watch that.
Email Prime3666@hotmail.com please put ThatGUY from FDL in the header so I don’t delete you
glad you enjoyed it janet
