*peeksaroundsomemore*
‘t ain’t quiet! *quiteloudoutside*
Muppets…
Guns…
Murder…
All so confusing!
Otherwise, fine & dandy.
is someone having a party and you were not invited? or is it more like police helicopter loud?
i think the butler is a republican
Giants-Phillies, big fight, man. Bench-clearing brawl. I’m not a Giants fan but i HATE all things Philadelphia (second only to Boston).
What’s up, Suze???!!!!
hey bfl — how ya doing tonight? giants fan myself
Heh – BOTH! The people two porches down have folks over and they are all LOUD about the downgrade thing. [but one can hear easy from our porches - like little band shells.]
THEN just a little bit ago, started having a helicopter! Still buzzing around. Light looks like it’s pointing at the park about 3 blocks over.
‘butler’ and ‘Republican’ are mutually exclusive terms, i would think…
yikes!
Spy In The Sky. A flash back to my life as a Suburbanite.
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight?
Yeah. That’s why I told you about it. Just watched the highlights. Giants, sad to say, got destroyed. I don’t follow the national league really but i was glad they won the WS last year. They seem like a cool group.
We are good. Hope all’s well with your clan.
fork…. will have to see what my local sports segment shows — thanks for the heads up dood
all doing well. steph was gallivanting around the midwest — this week she has been at two locations in ks, gone to nebraska, and is now back in colorado. jen’s enjoying jujube’s sleeping longer at night and is doing good.
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…! ;-)
*heh* FTFY, BFL…! ;-)
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
i didn’t fuck it up
More Mixed Plate here…! The Better Half had headed down to the pool earlier to catch some of the last rays of the day, with clear skies, a half hour later she was back and with big raindrops falling suddenly outside…! Never a dull moment…! ;-)
i was overcast most of the day but it finally cleared up towards sunset, except along the horizon where the clouds ate the sun so i had blue skies but no sunshine. supposed to be sunny this weekend tho. i have the half moon peeking through those clouds, and there’s a great moon glitter patch on the bay as the tide goes out.
what a great description.
weather doodette said i may have a chance of seeing the northern lights around midnight tonight…. fingers and toes crossed i do — i’ve never seen them
it really is pretty tonight newton. i would much rather stare at it through the window then think of all the fuckery going on. i’m in full blown ostrich mode. my pension is with calpers and i believe calpers is one of those who have that requirement that they only hold aaa rated stuff. i don’t even wanna think what that is gonna mean…
…they only hold aaa rated stuff. i don’t even wanna think what that is gonna mean…
Oh F*ck…! No Treasury Bonds…? 8-(
Some day (and I know that’s a rather fuzzy reference), the CA GOP has got to find another religion – specifically the people who they depend on for votes, like former ‘every job in the public sector in the state of California‘ types, who are also Republicans come knocking on their doors, wondering how they squandered their benefits and pensions… talking about cops, and firefighters, and such. And taxes will rise.
I think that’s where Brown has been heading all along. I just hope he’s not too late.
i have no idea what it means since only one of the 3 rating agencies are involved (so far)… monday, i fear, is gonna be one hella wild ride
Me, I’m looking for the tools to sharpen the pikes with.
God help us all…! 8-(
concrete works just fine in a pinch
frigging great!
I Want To Be An Unfucker.
hey margot — how’s ohio tonight?

Spikes have that certain visual element I’m looking for.
it’s pretty nice out. I too would love to see the Northern Lights.
cinder block and cardboard
you may have a chance tonight margot…. depends on how south it dips or something
Yes.
You (pleasantly) surprise me, Margot.
Somehow I never saw the mischief in you until just now.
happy friday
*heh* I just hope they can show up…! ;-)
Oh,yeah!
And by the way, is anyone more matter-of-fact than Sir Leon?
it’s finally friday
a song for you
Shit, my first concert was at 15 in an outdoor stadium with the Who Tommy tour and Leon Russell as warm-up band. I’m so jaded.
I love Leon, in his prime.
how’s this?
epic
Btw, Suz, are ya home with just Token and Bailey keeping ya company…?
That’s just annoying. Wow.
i yam tut — no more company for a while
Annoying? Everyone has to start somewhere. He was an unknown musician wearing a top hat, walking onstage and sitting down at the piano, and having us all eating out of his hand……
I’m so old. Thankfully.
i saw chicago transit authority when they opened for hendrix in 69 (before they had to change their name to just chicago). they did the same thing — after them, i was a convert to horns and rock and roll
*heh* That’s why ya can enjoy the Moon’s glitter on the Pacific, eh…? ;-)
The Better Half is making me watch the tail end of ‘Shark Week’…! I can’t believe how incredibly stupid the current show’s crew is about filming Tiger Sharks…! It’s truly astounding that none of that clearly inept crew lost a limb…! God truly does work miracles…!
Should I add; he was so sexy we’d have thrown him our panties, but it was the era when we weren’t wearing any?!
Yeah, it’s the true musicians that snag my heart.
i’m so glad i don’t have a better half dictating what to watch on teevee :) the stupidity will continue until a horrible accident that no one could have anticipated
I saw Leon (and as it turns out, Mary) one night in a club in SF, during a disguised tuneup for a show the following Sunday at the Oakland Coliseum… for about 5 minutes. We walked in, and they left minutes later.
We were late because of a bonehead traffic move on my part, and my girlfriend scalded me for it, but good.
’64 leon
I blame Leon Russell for the most shitty relationship of my life. Right afterwards, by a young man who looked just like him. And had the same slow mannerisms, with talent.. Also, a major mover and shaker in the underground drug world.
Leon, you done me wrong.
But, youth is for learning.
LOL!
That is a great tale.
Hey Suz an Dawgz. Crazy movin an retoolin goin on. Much too tired to go drive 40 miles north to hear Jackie Greene tonight. And with the owners gone for the weekend i can do changes as i please. So i guess i will not get to see the 7 Walkers tomorrow either. Yeah know some times life just sucks.
*heh* I told her ‘no way’ that I was watching “Phineas and Ferb’s The Movie” tonite…! ;-)
hey homeroid — you should have a front row seat for the northern lights tho…. here’s some jackie for ya
Yeah know some times life just sucks.
Dewd…! I’m sooo there…! ;-)
What are the 7 Walkers? It sounds strange. They’re not Undead right? :]
7 walkers
I Think Suz Got it.
We used to see the Northern Lights when we lived on a north beach in the Puget Sound. We’d get wispy curtains /monoliths? of white/blue light. They undulate, vibrate, almost hum at our weak vantage point. My family in Finland would experience the same night as full of color, dancing waves of light, strange noises constantly. They present in curtains of light. My mother painted curtains of light.
Very special.
i’ve never seen them. sounds like if i don’t see them tonight, i may see them tomorrow night.
Some of my best old friends came by in the last few daze and they are all going to the show-(Salmonstock) and i cannot miss the time to make the changes that have to be done. So i must value a functioning work space or do i want to hear music and dance. I must be getting too freakin old.
Sounds almost like what Openhope has a’brewing too…! ;-)
They’ll be so faint you might not recognize them as Northern Lights, I’m thinking. They appear as a gauze of different light, in distinct panels throughout the horizon here. It’s hard to explain because we’re too far south, so they’re diluted.
I love you, CTuttle.
i’m thinking that being tucked into the hillside so it blocks the north wind aint gonna help any either
*sigh* I wish I had a ‘functioning work space’ and/or Garden space to work with…! 8-(
tis about time for me to turn into a pumpkin peeps. thank you for letting me hang out with ya and i hope to see ya tomorrow night for cartoons.
g’nite all
Whoa yea man i been there. The whole thing of mud having variances of sound was what made me want to prune evergreens to look like popsicle’s.
Sweet Dreams, Suz…! *g*
Sweet dreams, Suzanne. After we left the North shore I quit running out to find the Northern Lights. They were never the same as looking out your door and checking.
We gave up city career paths, took a “vow of poverty” , set ambitions aside for that view. Not everyone’s choice.
We’re grateful.
I hope you find great joy in the place that you live. That is my wish for you and that is what i hope you propagate. Namaste.
well,..it was a tough few years adjusting to life after the Savings and Loan Robber Baron Adventure.it’s easy to be grateful when gainful employment happened with the perks of hotel rooms and travel for the family. You can take a vow of poverty, may you not have to live it…….
I truly want to ‘live off the land’, and the Better Half is aboard too, but we can’t even afford a 1/4 acre here in the Isles…! 8-(
Thank you. I’m running low on great joy these days. I’m living simple love, small victories and slight grins. Sometimes a true belly laugh. And good food, music, dogs.
:)
it’s all we have, right?
Crap Tut i been wakitn for years for the land prices to come down. But hell we did not have a land devaluation here. I am afraid they “they” will all want to move here and i wont ever find land at a fair price.
Your land is so precious you probably don’t have Community Gardens ? Or roof top gardening?
Not a one…! With plenty of Ag land that lies fallow too, especially, since the demise of our Sugar Cane/Pineapple industry…! 8-(
I had a mad impulse to throw away my gypsy ways and buy land [biological clock] just before 9/11. Then things got weird, then things got weirder.
I’m so grateful that I over researched every motherfucking piece of property and never found the land that Jesus would buy. /s
Demise? Wait, I know nothing.
My eyes are saying, shut-it-down.
I’m going to check out your Ag comment tomorrow, CTuttle. Misery loves company. FireDogLake doesn’t have Fuck threads anymore, right? I wish someone would post a fuck thread.
Lots of buildings around here are going to rooftop gardens.
Sweet dreams,all.
King Sugar followed the almighty buck…
Sugar plantations suffered from many of the same afflictions that manufacturing market segments in the United States continue to feel. Labor costs increased significantly when Hawaii became a state and workers were no longer effectively indentured servants. The hierarchical caste system plantation managers had worked hard to maintain began to break down, with greater racial integrations as a result, ironically, of the sugar plantations. Workers began to discover they had rights, and in 1920 waged the first multi-cultural strike.[6] Additionally global politics played a large role in the downfall of Hawaiian sugar. Shifting political alliances between 1902 and 1930 permitted Cuba to have a larger share of the United States sugar market, holding 45% of the domestic quota while Hawaii, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico shared 25%.[4]
The Big Five slowed the production of sugar as cheaper labor was found in India, South America and the Caribbean and concentrated their efforts on the imposition of a tourism-based society.[4] Former plantation land was used by the conglomerates to build hotels and develop this tourist-based economy which has dominated the past fifty years of Hawaiian economics
So did Dole Pineapple Co…! 8-(
Good morning, pups. It’s Blow and Nocera today since Gail Collins is still on book leave. Mr. Blow, in “The Decade of Lost Children,” says one of the greatest casualties of the great recession may well be an entire generation. In “The Tea Party, Take Two” Mr. Nocera says after some strong criticism about a previous column, some reflection and a promise for going forward.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, the cold drinks are in the fridge, and I’ve got eggs Benedict or eggs Florentine this morning. I may actually have a free weekend, since the second job didn’t have anything new for me and I’ve only got a few dribs and drabs left to do. Maybe tomorrow morning I’ll be able to get out an do some weeding… Have a great day.
Dang MIS i woke up in this stiff old chair knowing i should be curled in bed. Alas there you are with the morning repast.I will refrain from the whimsical and edge to the horizontal. I love FDL.
