twas foggy and grey all day and my weather gauge has been forecasting rain all day. weather dood said i may get a few showers overnight. but on the plus side, it was in the mid to high 60′s today
*laughing* the other one — jen got me a new home weather station for christmas — records temp indoors and out, humidity, rain, wind, uv and has a barometer.
Hi All. Beautiful day in the neighborhood. I went to the County Fair….I always enjoy it. But today was sheep judging, and I really prefer watching the FFA kids show their huge pigs.
hey dearie — the tillamook county fair is later this month — the pigs-n-fords is always a huge draw. drivers have to hand crank their antique fords and race 3 laps around the track — all while holding on to a pig
I love this, but then I love all Joe Cocker songs just about. Warm here but our downtown isn’t such a hopping place. A VFW place and a restaurant, and kids skateboarding.
since i moved up here, i’ve learned that i had an extra one – besides my right hip and my left knee i now also hear from my left ankle (broken back in the 90′s)
I’d never seen “mutton buster” before….I’m still kind of speechless. Someone put their three year old on the back of a great big sheep! Yes, they do wear helmets and some kind of flak jack, but still. Kid was rolled off in a heartbeat. I was trying to imagine one of my own 3 year old grandkids (I’ve got three of them) doing a little mutton busting. But I’m not that imaginative.
Love that! Our fairgrounds are right on the Pacific Ocean, so there is always a nice breeze. The county is still very agricultural, and I think I enjoy the agriculture displays the most. One of our local farms had a 15 foot woven basket that showed their produce. Very striking. They grow all the jalapenos for that divine sriracha (sp?) sauce that every loves.
there was a segment on the local news tonight about how all the berries and other fruits and veggies are running 3 weeks to a month behind ‘usual’. inland has finally started to warm up (but pdx still hasn’t hit 90 this year) but the coast has yet to have summer heat
1. Denial. It’s not really Obama I’m mad at, it’s this crazy upside down world where you have to kiss cracker ass all the time.
2. Anger. Who the fuck is Obama to do this to me, er, I mean our country!
3. Bargaining. Maybe if I work even harder on his re-election things will be better in his second term.
4. Depression. It’s true, he’s never going to fight back. So long as Wall Street gets theirs, job one is done.
5. Acceptance. Obama is a prick bastard fucker, but that’s his problem. I will not allow myself to be defined by the faults of others, however much it totally fucks up my world and my friends’ and family’s worlds.
I don’t really know what Emily is doing, my attention has been elsewhere. Last I looked it was well off the coast and I saw a headline today stating it was heading further east. If that’s the case, we may not even get rain, which we don’t really need.
I should probably send an email about what is going on. I don’t want to just announce it here, as it involves another FDLer, who I don’t think posts, but is a good friend of mine. Not a big deal, but an awkward situation.
Our hats are simply divine. Skirts? A little bit rumpled. Nonetheless, fuck with us at yer peril, you little MOTUs. We got yer numbers. And we’re dialing…
*heh* My Nova Scotian kin do have an official, registered Tartan pattern…! Yes, I’ve been forced to wear the ‘Family Colors’, in kilt form, on occasion…! ;-)
I’ll never forget the look on the Domino’s pizza delivery guy’s face when he probably saw what was up the kilt a friend of mine was wearing. Said friend, who is English/Scottish, always wore it for holidays and his birthday. Eventually he started wearing it daily, until he found his boss, on a rigging job, didn’t much appreciate it.
Ron was just taking out the garbage and there was a big fat rattler under the can. He came back in and got a shovel. I was really brave and held the flash light while he whacked it and killed it. Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk. and scary. blerg.
Oh yuck. Don’t like even thinking of poisonous snakes. We also have pygmy rattlers here, which, from what I hear, have no sense of humor
That said, I do wish either the garden snake or the black racer, that live in this yard, would get big enough to eat the possum that lives in the crawl space under the house.
We have western rattlers here. I live on the American River. I feel pretty lucky that we have only had four or five in the backyard all these years. Now, I am ready to move. Hate it!
i was whitewater rafting on the american river back when i was young and on a side hike came real close to a baby rattler. i vowed to not repeat the experience
When I was a kid we used to run around the dry hills of Hayward….occasionally a rattler would come on down to the new houses with us. My dad would get out his trusty shovel. How do men know about this???? My dad grew up in San Francisco. Is rattler killing on the Y chromosome?
More than sad. The end of the middle class. In CA there have been changes in the workers compensation law that drove many of the attorneys out of the field and that left workers totally screwed. I think the insurance companies have had stellar gains, though. So there is that. I’m sure they have offshored much of their paperwork. I am still amazed that we aren’t in the streets. I keep my pitchfork honed.
Oh, I am so sorry. I’d thought you got through before the debacle. Well, I’m a victim, too. I still do some work comp depositions, but my great law job just disappeared in a heartbeat. Went to law school at 50…. got offloaded at 60. Very sad, really. I think SCIF had one of its best years ever, though. Hooray for insurance companies. NOT.
Long ago when I’d be doing 25 mile bike rides up to Nimbus n back, I’d come across some . . . also while jogging from Northrup (mile 6) back to Old Sac past Cal Expo to mile 5 I’d run across one every once in a while . . . I hate snakes.
Like Teh Senator said, breezy again and kewl as kukes!
*G*
Down to 250-255 . . . been slow comin off past 2 months, but all of a sudden . . . it’s slippin off fast past few weeks as I am now able to jog more, walk longer on treadmill, and ramped up weights and reps on all the machines I use . . . finally got past the baby work to protect from injury . . . . back is SOLID as it’s been since I blew it out in ’86.
When I hit 220 it will be the lightest I’ve been since ’86. N I’m gonna get my bike out and hit the AR Trail . . . legs should be able to hold up the knees if I start slow and work into that routine. Be good to speed up calorie burning and work up heart rate faster and longer than treadmill . . . easier on the back n knees n hips n feets too . . .
Today was good, the rainstorm last night cooled everything off, it only got up to 88 today. I sort of suddenly disappeared off LLN last night. Had two windows open and was flipping back and forth, and suddenly my internet connection was gone. Tried several times to get back, but it was dead, so I went to bed. May have been the storm.

Suz!
newton! how ya doing tonight?
Hotter than a match, yeah!
Hi Suz! I’m driving by…hope you’re doing well!
I’m great, thank you. I spent the day north of the bridge, in Kentfield. It was beautiful.
How’s it up there?
Edit: If Joe Cocker is reading the Congressional record, I’m listening…
hey rfw — always a pleasure to see your fonts. i’m doing well, thanks. how ya been?
twas foggy and grey all day and my weather gauge has been forecasting rain all day. weather dood said i may get a few showers overnight. but on the plus side, it was in the mid to high 60′s today
Aloha, Suz and pups…! Gorgeous day here in Paradise…!
aloha tut — how was your day?
‘weather gauge’ – that would be between the hip and the ankle, no?
Same deal here.
*laughing* the other one — jen got me a new home weather station for christmas — records temp indoors and out, humidity, rain, wind, uv and has a barometer.
I thought you were supposed to have Sunshine for awhile, M’dear…?
Oh Snap…! ;-)
yeah — me too. its gonna be sunny all week in portland but i’ve got fog
misunderstood
Go figure, eh…? ;-)
Hi All. Beautiful day in the neighborhood. I went to the County Fair….I always enjoy it. But today was sheep judging, and I really prefer watching the FFA kids show their huge pigs.
Hey, that’s where mine is located.
Reliable as heck, unless I want to get up and, you know, walk around.
hey dearie — the tillamook county fair is later this month — the pigs-n-fords is always a huge draw. drivers have to hand crank their antique fords and race 3 laps around the track — all while holding on to a pig
Yallooo!
Missed 2 events today, dammit. Udall, talking about his Balanced budget Amendment and a House Party for Obama’s birfday.
Stuck at home, wanted to fling poo at both!
I love this, but then I love all Joe Cocker songs just about. Warm here but our downtown isn’t such a hopping place. A VFW place and a restaurant, and kids skateboarding.
since i moved up here, i’ve learned that i had an extra one – besides my right hip and my left knee i now also hear from my left ankle (broken back in the 90′s)
yallooo kelly! how’s denver tonight?
hey margot — how ya doing tonight?

leave your hat on
You dirty poo flinger, you!
Hey everyone.
last year, the Tillamook County Fair was chosen by USA Today as one of the top ten Blue Ribbon Fairs in the nation.
Such divine poo, too…! ;-)
hey senator — how’s sac tonight?
Hey Suz! Sac is pretty sweet tonight. It is nice and cool outside and we have the whole house fan on.
Oh, hunny, you ain’t living life. Mutton busting is nothing, you should see Drag Queen rodeo where they dress Sheep!
*gets busy looking up mutton dressing*

Poo, glorious Poo!
there was a segment on the local news tonight about how all the berries and other fruits and veggies are running 3 weeks to a month behind ‘usual’. inland has finally started to warm up (but pdx still hasn’t hit 90 this year) but the coast has yet to have summer heat
I love that play!
Mutton dressing….I’m sure that involves bread crumbs, celery and a lot of sage, right?
It’s Obama’s fault.
poo
From http://norwegianity.wordpress.com/
There are five stages in getting over Obama.
And Al Gore is still fat. (Which I never got, exactly, but which always made me laugh anyway……hey, I never said I wasn’t easy.)
Speaking of Pooh, all I’m seeing around me these days, is green plaid interspersed with Pooh and Tigger…! ;-)
I hope that is going viral….and like right now!
I’ll put it on my facebook page. That should do it.
wow
Mmm plaid/pooo!
Dude, yer life is HARSH!
Hi guys, I see you are all in fine form tonight.
He is madras about poo.
hey tuez — how close is emily projected to come to your neck of the woods?
…however much it totally fucks up my world and my friends’ and family’s worlds.
F*ck me indeedy…! ;-)
billy
Heh. You are just so WRONG! ‘s why I lurve ya.
You should take me calls on Tuesday…just saying… :)
There most assuredly will be poo on that plaid…! ;-)
I don’t really know what Emily is doing, my attention has been elsewhere. Last I looked it was well off the coast and I saw a headline today stating it was heading further east. If that’s the case, we may not even get rain, which we don’t really need.
Moi? Wrong? ha! oh, well, maybe…..
Emily NOAA
All Highlander and shit.
There can be only ONE!!!!111!!!
thanks mary mac — emily’s path 5 day forecast
I was so bummed when I found out what I missed.
I should probably send an email about what is going on. I don’t want to just announce it here, as it involves another FDLer, who I don’t think posts, but is a good friend of mine. Not a big deal, but an awkward situation.
We won’t tell.
I’m reading the wrong headlines.
I guess this weekend is gonna be a washout.
It seems like the hot weird weather in the middle of the country has kept hurricanes out of the northern gulf for a couple of years. Thank Gawd.
Or maybe it is just good luck.
And we’re nothin’ if not awkward! :~)
sons of butcher
Look hunny, the way I call it is…
Our hats are simply divine. Skirts? A little bit rumpled. Nonetheless, fuck with us at yer peril, you little MOTUs. We got yer numbers. And we’re dialing…
They’ll never know what hit ‘em, eventually.
fork — i hope to stays further east
I’m doing my part for humanity, one person at a time. I would though, like my couch back.
*heh* My Nova Scotian kin do have an official, registered Tartan pattern…! Yes, I’ve been forced to wear the ‘Family Colors’, in kilt form, on occasion…! ;-)
That’s interesting. We are way, way overdue for a big one and we all know it.
kilt
Are you in FL?
Yup, Orlando.
Pictures. Pictures are requested and required!
Tuttle Tartan? O fercryingoutloud! Gotta see you in that skirt, boyfriend.
Pony up a pic, wouldja? [Scurrying to find me Pride pics in a kilt...back in a few]
I’ll never forget the look on the Domino’s pizza delivery guy’s face when he probably saw what was up the kilt a friend of mine was wearing. Said friend, who is English/Scottish, always wore it for holidays and his birthday. Eventually he started wearing it daily, until he found his boss, on a rigging job, didn’t much appreciate it.
come on tut.. i wanna see your colors
*heh* I drove I-95 from Orlando to Houlton, ME, in two days time…! Enroute to Pugwash, NS…! ;-)
*heh* I need a scanner and my Mom’s old pics, doable, but, no time soon…! ;-)
You really wanted to distance yourself from Orlando in a hurry, didn’t you?
Trust me…! Ya’ll don’t want to see me in my ‘knock-kneed’ glory…! ;-)
I actually veered West just before Richmond, Va. and, avoided the bulk of the ‘Megalopolis’…! *gah*
knees
Ron was just taking out the garbage and there was a big fat rattler under the can. He came back in and got a shovel. I was really brave and held the flash light while he whacked it and killed it. Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk.Yuk. and scary. blerg.
I told Ron he is my hero.
Wow wow wow! Never saw that before. Joe Cocker went way beyond Randy Newman on that one.
holy shit – i don’t like snakes
new.purse.
or.boots.
Hellooooo, Senator!
hey loohoo — how’s socal tonight? glad ya liked it
Now the cat is stuck on the roof. shitfire.
was that where the cat went upon the discovery of the snake?
Oh yuck. Don’t like even thinking of poisonous snakes. We also have pygmy rattlers here, which, from what I hear, have no sense of humor
That said, I do wish either the garden snake or the black racer, that live in this yard, would get big enough to eat the possum that lives in the crawl space under the house.
snake farm
We have western rattlers here. I live on the American River. I feel pretty lucky that we have only had four or five in the backyard all these years. Now, I am ready to move. Hate it!
*heh* I’m so glad that all the snakes in Hawai’i are behind bars…! Or, so they tell us…! ;-)
Western Rattlers
Ok, I am going to go out on the porch for a while. I could use a drink, too.
i was whitewater rafting on the american river back when i was young and on a side hike came real close to a baby rattler. i vowed to not repeat the experience
Loved it! SoCal is beautiful tonight. Windows wide open.
When I was a kid we used to run around the dry hills of Hayward….occasionally a rattler would come on down to the new houses with us. My dad would get out his trusty shovel. How do men know about this???? My dad grew up in San Francisco. Is rattler killing on the Y chromosome?
Cheers, M’dear…! *g*

Whoo HOO!
from twitter:
congrats tut!!!
I know! Lets demand austerity from our government. No more spending. That should fix it.
Dayam, totally outta the blue…! ;-)
I did get good news, today, that I’ll be interviewed, and, working for Keck a few days this month…! ;-)
And in my household, our income dropped 50%, okay not counting unemployment, and another 50% due to off shoring. So it ain’t pretty in 2011.
woohoo dood!!!
That totally bitz, Tuez…! *g*
that’s totally forked up tuez
Well, in 2000 we were in 6 figures, so we’ve had plenty of time to adjust.
I actually consider us lucky. We’ve had a lot of time to adjust and long ago I quit thinking things would get better.
Sad ain’t it?
More than sad. The end of the middle class. In CA there have been changes in the workers compensation law that drove many of the attorneys out of the field and that left workers totally screwed. I think the insurance companies have had stellar gains, though. So there is that. I’m sure they have offshored much of their paperwork. I am still amazed that we aren’t in the streets. I keep my pitchfork honed.
I’m stoked and I’ll be able to lobby my case prior to my interview, even…! ;-)
Wow! Serious congratulations!
Great!
i was one of ahnold’s workers comp victims
I’m not counting my chickens yet, but, I do appreciate the Keck work prior to my interview…! ;-)
I hate to admit to it, but the only thing we have going for us is a workers’ comp case. If we had universal health care in this country….
does working keck mean you will have worked as a spotter for all the ‘scopes up there…
4 Suz, A Different ‘Misunderstood’.
Howdy Pups!
The Senator is on fiwer, Kelly is flinging it, and CT’s gone all Highlander.
What a crowd!
*wavestoall*
hey larue — how ya been dood?
I’m going to bed. G’nite all.
NOT.
Good man, tell him I’m glad he didn’t use his lap steel . . . ;-)
…and CT’s gone all Highlander.
*heh* Your Better Half knows all about that one…! ;-)
2003 was when i had the tkr surgery under a newly filed cumulative injury claim. settled out in early 05.
Sweet dreams, tuez…!
LOVE me some Ray Wylie, that ain’t my fav but it’s popular thru KPIG yep . . . ;-)
My All Time Ray Wylie FV.
Huh, it’s the right song, a live version but that video is NOT Ray Wylie or the folks doing the song . . . good tho. The song.
but it was topical :)
g’nite tuez
Long ago when I’d be doing 25 mile bike rides up to Nimbus n back, I’d come across some . . . also while jogging from Northrup (mile 6) back to Old Sac past Cal Expo to mile 5 I’d run across one every once in a while . . . I hate snakes.
*heh* A little something to rile the kilt’s pleats…! ;-)
Yep, ours would be 40% less but bless honey and her 15+ years on the job and HUGE raises past 5 years . . . *G*
Kewl!
you’re evil dood…. no wonder we get along *laughing*
Good evening, Suz. Hiya, fellow pups. I’m late tonight, fell asleep in front of the tube & just woke up.
hey past — how was your day today?
doing good, Suz, sorry I missed that!
WAY kewl.
*G*
no worries margot — how’s your a/c unit doing?
Gotta ask her about that . . . never mentioned it from Nova Scotia days . . . just fish and potatoes!!! lol
*snoopy happy dance dood* you’ve been working long and hard at it and i’m so happy its paying off :)
H8er! lol
40 more to go . . . 3-4 months, maybe less.
When I hit 220 it will be the lightest I’ve been since ’86. N I’m gonna get my bike out and hit the AR Trail . . . legs should be able to hold up the knees if I start slow and work into that routine. Be good to speed up calorie burning and work up heart rate faster and longer than treadmill . . . easier on the back n knees n hips n feets too . . .
*G*
i remember when ya first started and how hard it was for you what with you being such a foodie.
May have been the storm.
hiya Suzzzz
Hey Larue. That’s really cool that you’re seeing some good results, I’m happy for you. That’s great, man.
i hate it when the cable goes down or i lose power. the good news is i have fewer outages up here (where the storms are fiercer) and they are much faster at getting things restored quicky. the santa cruz mts ground has a lotta sand and things do a lotta sliding when the ground gets saturated.
hey ppd — how was your day?
busy all day — so it was good
tis about time for me to turn back into a pumpkin peeps. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
g’nite all
Everything in our area is underground, power, cable, telephone etc. so we don’t get many outages, they’re few and far between.
night Suzzz — take care
Congrats, Larue…! Great job…! I’ve only added about 20 lbs from what I’d weighed right after Basic Training, in ’85…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
