From the second link:

Ezra: If you take the Republicans’ goals as avoiding a deal in which they have to vote for tax increases and denying Obama a political victory, it looks like they have succeeded.

File under: Even a blind squirrel …

It seems Paul K. and I agree.

Wrote this over the weekend (yesterday actually):

I think about the attack on Social Security. Now today, S & P launches an attack on the US and this will have devastating effects on bond ratings. Some sickos out there are willing to create “invisible death panels” for the retired one way or another.

I see these “plays against citizens” as creating conditions that will starve the elderly and deny healthcare.

(my bold)

And the GOP won’t claim victory and sign. We owe a debt of gratitude to the tea party for keeping some of the awful deals ObamaLLP proposed from becoming law. If not for them, I think Obama would have been able to pass the house without a single Dem vote.

Really sad to read his piece…Even a change in the stupid drug policy, ex. Re-importation, would have been smart/easy. Makes sense in hindsight…trying to do away with most of the Medicare program.

thanks, BT, and I see that the Anti-Defamation League is counter-rallying Perry – whose constituency is not for anyone but descendants of northern Europeans.

RevBev, can’t tell you when, but it’s going to be fixed eventually. I also go strange places when I hit some links, and have to switch from Firefox to IE to get there. Maybe load Firefox and/or Chrome?

FF seems to have more problems than IE or Safari. I have yet to be redirected on IE. I won’t use Chrome cuz it’s a Google product. Google collects too much personal info for my liking. That and Google couldn’t jump fast enough when China wanted to block sites.

Obama’s new campaign poem, thanks to Dante.
Through me you pass into the city of woe:
Through me you pass into eternal pain:
Through me among the people lost for aye.

Justice the founder of my fabric mov’d:
To rear me was the task of power divine,
Supremest wisdom, and primeval love.

Before me things create were none, save things
Eternal, and eternal I endure.
All hope abandon ye who enter here.

That pisses me off. Our hard earned $$$ paid out in taxes, made roads and byways publicly owned. To turn around and sell off what our parents, our parents’ parents, us and our children ( and perhaps our children’s children in some cases) have paid to build and maintain, is criminal. It. Is. Theft.

I would agree to promoting his blog and NYT columns, but Paul, and other prescient economists, are doing what they should be doing — poking holes in the crazy ideas out there. We need real political leadership.

The reason Paul and others aren’t listened to by the PTB is that they don’t say what they want to hear.

I understand they are to provide the PowerPoint slides sometime soon, but I’m not sure whether they’ll be posted here or sent to participants. I can’t imagine that they cannot be shared.

I guess the thing that got to me the most was the fact (which I knew, but they emphasized over and over) that Social Security (by law) cannot add one PENNY to the deficit. There is no rationale for Obama putting SS and Medicare on the table during deficit cutting talks. They are disillusioned by Obama — they were both advisers to his campaign.

That, and their assertion that Social Security is in more danger that it has ever been!

Go rummage at their website: Strengthen Social Security.

Boy that would make a great t-shirt…

An enlarged image of a penny and the words:

Social Security
by law
cannot add
one PENNY
to the deficit.

Jane, if you are reading, I would be willing to make a t-shirt design with this idea. It could even be made into a 1-2 dollar downloadable image to be printed on t-shirt transfers or car window posters as a fund raiser.

Using the Commutative, Associate and Distributive law .
The commutative law says you can swap numbers
a= bush asshole , b= obama asshole and c= stupids shits(are the same)
The Commutative law when add a+b=b+a

When you Multiply a x b = b x a

The Associate laws of addition
(a + b)+c =a+(b+c)
The Associate law of Multiplication
(axb)x c = a x(bxc)
If everything remain constant, we are Royally Fuck!
