Morning, BT.
Re: 4th link, I prefer Yves cut on this.
But YMMV
Oh wow! Oh joy! Elizabeth Warren running as candidate for the Uniparty! Rejoice!
My the serfs are easy to dupe aren’t they? Must warm the cockles of their plutocratic hearts…
Mornin’, BT, pups
Yeah, I thought Warren running would be a good thing but Jane, and now Yves, changed my mind. A person of her talents would be wasted in the Senate. I think she could have much more impact by teaching and/or organizing.
Board member Thomas Perkins says embattled News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch has full support

I still dream that she primaries Obama.
Boxturtle (But it looks like she’s not going to stand up to him, and slink quietly away)
I missed Jane’s take.
Quelle surprise. Board members are picked by the Murdochs.
Bet he wasn’t under oath when he said that.
Boxturtle (’cause if they’re NOT having those discussions, they’re not watching shareholder money)
Too loyal.
I just love the WaPo article on the capture of a French ship off of Gaza:
The execution-style slayings of the unarmed passengers might have been a clue that Israel was not acting in self-defense. But, let’s be fair and say both parties are at fault.
“Ms. Whatnott, please show Ms. Bancroft in to our Joe E. Lewis Room for her interviews.
There are none so blind as those who will not see.
I made a comment on one of her threads the other day about it and she pointed me to a link that said pretty much what Yves said. Jane’s link pointed out how popular Brown seems to be with MA voters. That possibility aside I simply think Warren running would be a waste of her talents. Just her knowledge of economics alone would out Senators as the morons and puppets they really are.
MY knowledge of economics alone would out Senators as morons and puppets.
Boxturtle (3 university Econ courses and I scraped by with C’s)
You could be POTUS!
WI recall elections.
This was another great post at Naked Capitalism — attacking Obama’s statement that:
Almost ALL Ds accept this as gospel. Don’t know what Warren’s cut on it would be.
That way they can ignore the increasing jobless rate and, more importantly, the lack of any desire to recreate the country’s manufacturing base. No way we’re going to put 15-20 million people to work in the finance and service industries. The assault on the homeless in every major city in FL reflects the goal of the PTB to hide the problems. It’s not the homeless and panhandlers keeping customers away from retailers, it’s the economy.
This is where the Rs will be coming from in 2012 — via Digby.
I’d like a President who would order every LST (Landing Ship Tank) in the Atlantic fleets to load up with supplies for Gaza and proceed there forthwith, protected by a carrier task force. I’d like to see those gaping bow doors open and offloading on the beaches of Gaza.
Morning BT & Firepups:
The Comedy Channel for Today…
To watch Miss Lindsey’s head explode? /s
Gee, do ya think our illustrious committees could learn a thing or two about conducting a hearing from these folks? Anything would be better than the bullshit hearings they conduct now.
Rude on economic inequality…
That too.
Nah, too many of them big, fancy, liberal-elite college words. Our plutocratic overlords like to keep the utterances down to one syllable…two, tops.
The REAL comedy should start in a little over 1/2 hour from now…
But isn’t changing the House and Senate, in a very fundamental way, the very thing we discuss here often. It can only happen by changing the individual Congresspersons and Senators. Because pretty much every fucking one of the 535 seats is occupied by dreck, ya gotta start somewhere, no?
oldnslow (channeling Boxturtle; I’m really unsure about how I feel about it)
Current / Olbermann will be covering live, with John Dean along for the ride…
Have to put it on in the background at work. Ought to be rich.
Copy that.
Yup.
Progress?
Not sure I can get excited about the judicial nominations just because they are Obama’s nominations, nor just because they are gay. Do you think this judge could be open to agreeing with Citizens United? or that Wal_Mart is the best thing for the country?
Yes, it is but I think Warren would be ostracized from the moment she was sworn in.
If we were a “decent country” ( a phrase often used by Gore Vidal) that’s what we’d do. Great thought, though.
I agree, econobuzz. I think it is a foolish idea to push for Warren to run for congress against Scott Brown.
I doubt very much that Elizabeth Warren will “slink quietly away” at all. She is definitely NOT the “slink quietly away” type, IMHO.
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.

Namaste
Ms. Warren, how can too much debt be bad for a family but not be bad for the country?
I like Barney, have spoken with him, and worked for his election – and agree that Warren has enough popularity to beat Brown.
As to Yves and the better uses of Warren’s talent, I suggest that a Senator gets media that a smart outsider – say Nader – can not get. Like Nader if not a Senator she would get speaking gigs, radio call in, internet TV, even Russian TV on RT.com (a location I recommend). But that is a tiny fraction of Sunday talk.
I like the idea of Warren and Bernie, together, reaching a national audience, indeed her comments might make the nightly news! If Obama is gone in 2012 we will need more protection in the Senate, and the Senate could lead to a presidential run – something not possible without first being Senator.
I do not like the idea that because the Banks own the Senate all not owned by the Banks should stay out – that is what the banks want. I suggest one should not foreclose possibilities prematurely.
What do you suppose she would have to do and say to get the support of the Obama administration?
When it comes down to brass tacks it will be Warren who makes the decision.
I’m going to join your idea. I would rather her be in the Senate than not. But I still doubt she will have the money or popularity to win it. I certainly do not want her to lose her soul in this effort. But if she fails, she is still free to pursue other avenues. So despite Yves, I want her to run.
To win in Mass, she will need the support of the Obama administration. That will require taking the same approach — philosophically, politically, and morally — to the deficit, debt, and “entitlements” issues that he does — with the economy still at or near 9% unemployment. By the time she wins, she will be totally compromised as a progressive spokesperson. Thinking that she can win espousing a message that embodies what we think of his first term is unrealistic.
IMHO. YMMV.
It could be that Warren has the self-knowledge and integrity to know that the political arena is not the place for her to be most effective. If so, then I respect her even more.
