This is easy – if the marginal rate over, say, $500K/yr is 90%, then either folks making $1M will pay 90% of the over-$0.5M as taxes, or figure ways to reduce their taxes. That includes…. charitable contributions! Also expansion of businesses, deferred income through investments in other ventures, tax-supported investments (like clean energy, plant upgrades). All good for the economy, but not for the individual.

And to answer the question, who making $500K / yr needs an incentive to make the next dollar? If they stop at 1/2 Million, the work is still there to be done by someone else. Spread the income.

A few days ago I saw a snippet of an Obama campaign comment in which he said he would not raise the SS age or change benefit calculations, but right now I can’t find it.

Anybody know which comment I’m talking about and where to find it? (Need to rub in some Obots’ faces.)

Who’s turning 50 next week? Not Obama. He’ll be 50 on his next birthday, but that’s not until Aug. 4, which is next month.

paraphrasing prezzy, “I’ve got three trade deals on the table and we can’t get them (repubs) to talk about how we will help displaced Americans.” Geez I think that means he knows it will destroy more US jobs.

Obviously, the solution is to pass the free trade deals he campaigned against in ’08 and displace more Americans.
