Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress – The Hollies
Now, for something new…
Hot Chelle Rae – Tonight Tonight
What’s on your mind tonite…?
CT, I am so sad….
tut!
Aloha, robert, why so glum…?
Aloha, Suz…! How’s your inlet tonite…?
Alan Grayson announced today he is running for Congress again….
I am sad, because I wanted Grayson to run for President. I think he would’ve kicked Obama’s ass….
grey and overcast and cooler this week with showers forecast every day – i’m back to wearing fleece and warm slippers
*heh* He definitely would’ve pulled Obummer to the hard left in the primaries…!
Hot day today with very little tradewinds here…! I loved the latest descriptor… A Pineapple…! ;-)
Hold your Grayson love a sec.
We need to start a “Draft Grayson for President” movement. We need another FDR, and, for my money, he alone fits that mold….
hahahaha
Read this, pay special attention to the part about the guy who sent a Grayson for pres 2012 bumper sticker.
Dear Laura:
Yesterday, I received dozens and dozens of letters from you all in my mailbox, along with contributions to our campaign. One of those letters sums it up. It’s from Julia. I don’t have Julia’s permission to release her name or address, but Julia, you know who you are.
Julia addressed the envelope this way:
I Believe In You
Alan Grayson
8419 Oak Park Road
Orlando, FL 32819
This is what Julia wrote:
“Hi Alan –”
“Go for it! We need you. I live in XXXXXXX, and I wish you were here, speaking for us. But you do speak for everyone! Thank You!”
Graham wrote: “Thank you for all of your straight talk. You are an inspiration.”
Kathy wrote: “We have been watching you whenever you are on TV and really like the way you stand up for us all.”
Muriel wrote: “You exhibit such good common sense – a commodity that the U.S. Gov’t is in short supply of.”
John wrote: “We don’t have any voice like Ted Kennedy except you now.”
Mary Kay wrote: “My tithing this month goes to your cause; I believe it’s a cause for the greater good of the common people, brought about by a man with ‘common sense.’”
Warren wrote: “I refer to you as a modern Lone Ranger. Bottom line: ‘Hi Yo Grayson, Away!’”
Hiram wrote: “I see people like you and I think, ‘My God! There really are honest men with the nation’s best interests at heart.”
And Kevin sent a bumper sticker that says “Alan Grayson for President 2012.” (Kevin, I think that President Obama is running for reelection, but thanks anyway!)
I have always been amazed by the simple eloquence of ordinary people. No hemming and hawing. No wasted words. No whereases and wherefores. Ordinary people just tell it like it is.
And when I read words like this, I feel, as Lincoln said in the Gettysburg Address, that it is “far beyond our poor power to add or detract.” “The world will little note, nor long remember” what I say, but I can never forget what you say.
Thank you for your encouragement and support. And watch this space.
Courage,
Alan Grayson
In my mind, this implies he thinks Obama is doing a good job.
Well this black dress seeker for a “mother of the groom” dress spent three hours shopping with MSCE. She kicked my ass around two stores, bought a dress (NOT black), shoes and dictated jewelery. And bras. Good heavens. Suzanne!
He could have used any number of excuses to not primary Obama and he chooses this?
Aloha, tuez…! He is a PeP afterall…!
I voted for the guy twice, gave money, attended rallies and then I get this. If you haven’t guessed, I’m still seeing RED.
Aloha, Chris…! How’s the Lakefront tonite…?
Grayson is the only one who ever sued a military contractor for fraud and won.
I’m amazed he’s running for the 8th again. It’s the same money and same Webster he’s running against.
That’s a lot of nerve right there. So, maybe a lot of people want him to run for Prez, but not enough as he didn’t even get enough support last time around just to keep the seat.
I personally think trying to re-take FL-08 has a lot of balls attached.
A huge storm came though via the Ohio south. We were drenched, and thrilled to be so.
ce — its even worse for the mother of the bride.. she has to coordinate with the wedding party and the emotions of the bride
epsom salts and a long hot soak is what i did after the long day of finding my dress, shoes, and earrings with the bride… oy — jen took me to a mall (shrudder) and we kept going back and forth… back and forth on both mall levels — the entire afternoon
I’m well aware of that.
But if his sole reason for not running for prez is because Obama is….
In my mind, that means he either agrees with much of what Obama is doing, or he knows the PTB wouldn’t let him win (which is the case regardless). I mean, the guy has five young kids. What an easy excuse.
Aloha, Kelly…! The way Politico framed it, it might not be the 8th due to the scheduled redrawing of the maps…!
evening, firegourds
Progressives have been singing the blues for somebody to primary Obama, and nobody could do that better than Grayson: a down in the dirt fighter that Obama isn’t.
If Grayson could be convinced he could actually win against Obama, I have little doubt he’d give it a shot.
We got to make him run….
Nah, it’s not really that much of a stretch. Webster won because of Koch money and dems stayed home. Supposedly Webster didn’t really want to run.
I don’t think Grayson realizes the extent of voter discontent/apathy. He’s hoping to ride in on Obama’s coattails, again, and that is not going to happen.
That said, last time Grayson ran a really stupid campaign. And I even told him that. Hell, I was his most ardent supporter and his ads weren’t doing a damn thing for me.
Aloha, PPD, how’s Cali tonite…?
Oy,
I think I’m finished shopping. Determined NOT to wear black (as I do at work) I found a dress with gem colors and MSCE helped me including shoes. Great shoes. Hey, I’m 59, my frame sucks.
good thanks, CT — how’s paradise tonight?
hiya Suzzz, CE, Kelly
Yeah – I have a solid sense of the old districts, but am very squiffy on how the new ones are working out, as they’re in different stages right now.
Waiting to see how the new Cook report will look…
all i can suggest is to wear the shoes before the day of the ceremony — i forgot that one little detail
Hot and muggy, and my head is all plugged up from a cold I just caught, blergh…! 8-(
A good detail! Also, wherever there are little rubbing points on that wear the day before? Put bandaids or those crazy little corn thingies on your feet where those pressure points are.
Saved my life during the Russki’s wedding.
Head colds in paradise? what’s up with that!?!?!?!?!
I truly wish there never was such a vile creature as the ‘gerrymander’…!
One of my favorite songs
*heh* Sh*t still does occur in Paradise…! ;-)
If your feet start hurting, don’t take the shoes off. You will never get them on again.
i ended up wearing a pair of slippers (horrible ragged looking slippers but my long dress covered them) at the reception. strappy high heels sure looked cute (and showed off the pedicure) but oy my poor feet had blisters
Aloha, Bobster….!
He ain’t heavy he’s my brother…
Or wear more sensible shoes.
This reminds me why every day I look up and thank the Lord for making me male….
Getting ready for a Royal Wedding, CE?
I remember how I felt after Dubya won reelection in’04. I wonder if I’ll feel any different when Obama wins reelection in 2012.
Actually that is the truth. An ingrown toenail taught me that my feet weren’t really a 5B. Almost a year of wearing progressively larger and larger shoes to stop the pain, I ended up a 6-1/2.
I believe he thinks Bibi is doing an even better job than Obama.
Glenn Beck – pallin’ around with terrorists – in the Knesset
Did you watch Ed Shultz tonight?
Aloha, OFG…! It’ll leave me with the same hollow feeling in my stomach…! 8-(
No, I dumped cable about 15 years ago.
I don’t agree with him on Israel either but on the other hand I don’t agree with everything that comes out of my husband’s mouth..
But implying he agrees with Obama…
Aloha, ET…! Wasn’t that quite the sight to behold…!
Helllooo…? Glenn Beck calls on Israeli politicians to ‘speak the truth’
I am here to say, it is my plan to actively campaign against damn near all of them. I will show up at their town halls, etc., with fliers printed out at home with one or two sentence bullet points about why they are all lying assholes.
We need to lose the right vs left shit and realize it is us vs them.
Well, if anybody here did watch Schultz, did you notice instead of his face immediately after Rachel’s show ended, MSNBC ran a series of promos. And then when Schultz started late, he was without his usual bombastic spirit, more like the wind had been released from his soul. Actually more like a reporter than pundit.
Something happened behind the scene to make them delay his show for promos. He was clearly trying to ignore whatever it was and just get through the hour…
bipartisan=fascism.
Yeah, you won’t catch me yelling “Go team,” spiking the ball and doing snoopy dances. I look for Karen Ignani to head health and human services, Billy Tauzin will be our drug czar and Madoff will get a full pardon to head treasury.
that was a general comment and not directed at CTuttle.
Evenin’ all .. thanks for hosting, Tut .. damn, but I am happy .. no more election here for 4 years .. just hunker down and try to keep on keepin ‘on and resist the urge to take matters into yer own hands when a ReThug is running the show .. music does soothe all that .. problem always comes down to .. Obama or Bachman? .. only the comics would want that run-off ../s
I like Alan Grayson. A lot. When he was in office I probably praised him more than all the other Alaska progressive bloggers combined.
The reality is that no more than a very few members of the US House are willing to treat the rapidly growing racism and anti-democratic trends in Israel realistically. Whoever he replaces – should he win in that red district – is no different on that issue.
Btw, Parrotheads, Jimmy has recently teamed up with the Zac Brown Band…
Here’s a cut… Knee Deep…
I noticed that too robert .. he seemed drained of spirit .. maybe Rupert and the boys tapped his soul??
So when is AG Holder going to investigate him for pallin’ around with terrorists on foreign soil?
I look for Karen Ignani to head health and human services, Billy Tauzin will be our drug czar and Madoff will get a full pardon to head treasury.
Oh f*ck…! I’d definitely start paddling to Vancouver then…! ;-)
When Hell does freeze over…? ;-)
Let me know and I’ll head yer way with a two-man kayak and a bottle of Glenlivet .. /s
To be fair, the right is stuffed full of insane bigots and fundies with diamond hard mile thick ring of weapons grade stupidity that is 1000 percent opposed to anything we say because a degenerate junkie pederast told them we are immoral. It is us against them. We compromise and they don’t. The truth compromised with a lie is a lie. Tolerance compromised with bigotry is bigotry. Never apologize never explain, always attack.
Aloha, Tearloch, speaking of BC…! ;-)
Since it is after 2 am on the east coast, and I generally respect your opinion, I’ll let this die until another evening.
Admittedly, I didn’t know he was against antidemocratic trends in Israel. I was under the impression he was a Zionist. If not, I’d love to know it.
am so glad that i’m closer to the wa/bc border than i was when i was in ca.
The walls are crumbling down. Murdoch may be mortally wounded. Clarence Thomas could be driven from the Supreme Court with enough daily heat. Obama is so confident of his reelection he dares to hold up Social Security and Medicare for auction.
I sense the tide of history turning because of these things. Obama’s overconfidence makes him subject to a dark horse candidate who knows how to throw a punch that does real damage.
We need to take hold of these events and steer them to a truly progressive revival.
The chances are there. We just have to see them and reach out and grab them….
Sounds like a page out of Kelly’s playbook…! ;-)
More like more MSNBC/Comcast stepping on him, I think….
I’m going to bed. G’nite all.
I can smuggle you into BC in my 67 VW van with the purple spare tire cover .. just send word North .. /g
On chair clapping.
Yeah that was my thought too .. I just like to throw stuff like that out in case Fox has us all under observation for subversive eating ..
Sweet dreams, tuez…!
707…!
And nobody could flatten Obama better than Alan Grayson….
Poker down to the short and curlies .. stay safe and strong all .. /s
does the side panel door actually lock or will i fall out when we go around a corner too fast? ’cause i’ve already done that one…
Heh. ‘Tis.
I’ve never bought into the “civility” thing. Being “naughty” has shifted that Gay Overton Window a loooong way my way over time.
I’ll never forget standing in front of Candidate Owens for governor here in CO and looking at him in the eye and saying “So what you’re really saying is I am unequal to you…”
He knew I knew he was a fraud right then and there. He won the governor job alright. But he knew many knew he was a fraud and a bad human.
Best of luck, tearloch…!
The only way progressives will ever be taken seriously is if it becomes more politically risky to defy us than to punk us. Lieberman was a good step, and they had to really step and fetch it, utilizing quirky CT election laws to deny us that ultimate victory. Blanche Lincoln was another good fight and the administration had to pull out all the stops to save her on the primary. Their subsequent chest thumping on beating Bill Halter and “the professional left” was meant as a signal to progressives, sort of like Cartman on Southpark, “Respect My Authoritay!!” It just widened the rift, setting Democrats up for wholesale slaughter in 2010. We gave them the House in ’06 and the Senate and Presidency in ’08, but they still think it was Chuck Schumer, Rahm Emmanuel and Plouffe’s magnificent strategy that pulled all this off.
nite *poof*
You totally rawk, dood…!
Pleasant dreams, OFG…!
You are relentlessly optimistic, robert. I like that.
Is fdl slow tonight, or the general toobz?
Pirate Looks At Forty…
Check out last night. Hows the garden thus far?
Aloha, homeroid…! Last nite did suck…! 8-(
The progressive camp has split into its own civil war, between those who remain Obama supporters (excusers)and those like FDL who refuse to support a president who throws his shit at us.
Backing Grayson, providing he can be convinced of a majority of progressive/independent support, will further flame the fires of that civil war, but we really haven’t any other choice.
We must convince Grayson he must not return to that fickle congressional seat, but defy that loss by reaching higher; that we will collect the money for his presidential campaign and solidify the majority of disaffected progressives behind his candidacy.
He can defeat Obama and rob both party’s of their collusion to reelect Obama.
It is why there is no serious Republican candidate to oppose Obama. It is the price agreed to to surrender social security & medicare….
LLNFDL was a victim of FDL downtime maintenance….
Yeppers…! I’m none to thrilled with the current platform’s performance, and they’ve still yet to add Pam’s Blend…!
Eating lotsa stuff from the garden. I cut a huge Daikon radish into little 1/8 x 1/8 x 2 inch sticks to go with my smoked Sockeye for a party yesterday. And I’d never tasted Suyo cucumber before – it is growing HUGE. Tastes a bit melonish. Spinach, beets, lettuce and zucchini beginning to produce much more than we can eat.
Have not as yet tried but have all the bugs been worked out of the site. I did see sites last night where they had George Carlins best MOTU rant on. I spent way too much time going through old clips of George last night.
Carlin delivers the best rants ever, whatever the topic…! ;-)
Nice. Best i do this summer is the farmers market. But will have some chances to float net some reds on the Kenai soon. At least get a few cans up for the winter. Beets man loves me them beets. Put some picks on yer site.
Well, I’m going to try and knock the snot outta my head with some Nyquil…!
Mahalo for ya’lls great conversations tonite, Aloha Oe…! *g*
May the 100 be with you and your snot. Later i am fading as well.
