GLAAD’s Troup Coronado Helped Put Bush Judges On the Bench

By: Jane Hamsher Tuesday June 14, 2011 5:30 am

For any LGBT group, the bottom line should have been that when LGTB rights were pitted against corporate rights, Coronado was willing to give a group of people with seriously homophobic judicial histories enormous power to determine the future of lives of people within the LGTB community

Debate Winner: Bachmann

By: Teddy Partridge Tuesday June 14, 2011 3:22 am

By not embarrassing herself in front of New Hampshire GOP voters in the hall, the national media, and political junkies watching everywhere, Michele Bachmann won the debate.

“Let’s Amend the Constitution…not that it will apply to the States”

By: Attaturk Tuesday June 14, 2011 1:00 am

Last night’s Republican debate — far less eloquent than Mike Emrich.

Late Night: Nothing to Lose from Destruction

By: Allison Hantschel Monday June 13, 2011 8:00 pm

There is no way to completely separate yourself from those who have less than you. Go ahead, try if you want, I mean, move out to the farthest-flung place you can find, put up the biggest privacy fence, surround yourself with barbed wire and alarm systems and sit by your window with a shotgun protecting your property. Plenty of people do, and they think it keeps them safe, and warm, and happy.

And it does, until the day it doesn’t.

DOD Whistleblower: Documents Show Intel Withheld from 9/11 Congressional Investigators

By: Jeff Kaye Monday June 13, 2011 7:15 pm

The entire 9/11 field of inquiry has been vilified, poisoned over the years by ridicule, sometimes fantastic conspiracy mongering, and fearfulness by journalists of approaching the material, lest they be branded as irresponsible or some kind of conspiracy freak. As a result, little work has been done to investigate, except by a small group of people, some of whom have raised some real questions, others who were intoxicated by the possibility of some giant conspiracy.

If anything, this story is about an intelligence and oversight scandal.

How to Steal $6.6 Billion and Not Get Caught

By: Scarecrow Monday June 13, 2011 6:30 pm

It is as though they deliberately designed a plot to make it easy to steal $6.6 billion. And everyone who had anything to do with planning or approving this mindless action turned scandal should be named, shamed, and banned from any government position, forever. Many should be under arrest, or held as material witnesses to possibly the most reckless plan or egregious bank heist in history, at least until the 2008 bailouts.

By: Lisa Derrick Monday June 13, 2011 5:00 pm

“Nobody’s gonna remember how long it took. They’re only gonna look and see that it was done.” – New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, on the use of eminent domain to build a basketball arena in Brooklyn.

And if it were not for tonight’s film, Battle for Brooklyn, how many would remember how long it took to build the Nets’ arena at the corner of Flatbush and Atlantic, and the human cost as well?
