Late Night: At NN11, White House Propagandist Pfeiffer Preps for President Romney

By: Scarecrow Friday June 17, 2011 8:00 pm

No President with Obama’s record or failure and betrayal should be rewarded with another term. And if we have to put up with a moral chameleon like Mitt Romney, indistinguishable from Obama, in order to demolish Obamism and what it has done to a once proud Democratic Party, then so be it.

Marriage Questionnaire Author Stands by 1996 Obama Survey: “Obama Signed It”

By: Teddy Partridge Friday June 17, 2011 5:10 pm

This morning at Netroots Nation, White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer was pressed repeatedly by dogged moderator Khali Joy Gray about his boss’s “evolution” on same-sex marriage, at one point asking if Obama was ever going to evolve back to his previous position, expressed on a 1996 candidate survey, that he supported same-sex marriage.

Al Franken: “I Think We’ve Ceded Too Much Ground” in Deficit Debate

By: David Dayen Friday June 17, 2011 4:20 pm

I talked to Franken via phone today, as he returned home from a funeral for a soldier killed overseas. His remarks tomorrow are really connected to the fear that we are seeing a flickering out of the American dream. “We have the greatest disparity in income since the 1920s. The middle class dream is fading, and we’re losing the argument on the economy. We need to gain back the initiative, and convince people that it’s ridiculous to be gutting Medicare, to essentially end it, in order to give huge tax cuts.”

By: Brian Sonenstein Friday June 17, 2011 2:30 pm

The Wall Street Journal reported this morning that the AARP has officially reversed its course and will be no longer working to protect Social Security.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz: Social Security Benefit Cuts “Off the Table”

By: David Dayen Friday June 17, 2011 1:30 pm

I asked DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz about all this today, as she greeted attendees at Netroots Nation. She was fairly blunt. “I will tell you that benefit cuts are not on the table,” she said. “They’re not on the table for me and they’re not on the table for our party in the House.”

Register of Deeds Jeff Thigpen Meeting with President Obama Today

By: David Dayen Friday June 17, 2011 12:30 pm

I’ve written about Thigpen, but not a lot of other people outside of Guilford County, North Carolina have. I wasn’t sure how much penetration he was getting into the larger community. Well, my eyes have been opened. Jeff Thigpen is headed to Washington today.

By: Blue Texan Friday June 17, 2011 10:30 am

So, if the Secessionist is doing such an awesome job and the Texas economy is such a “miracle,” why do Republicans in his own state prefer Willard and The Quitter?
