Status Quo — Pictures of Matchstick Men, from a 1968 UK television appearance.
What’s on your mind?
Dick Cheney at ‘Burning Man’ in Nevada would make for a very funny movie–sorry–Matchstick Men made me think of this.
hey potsdam — how ya doing tonight?
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups, I’m atop Mauna Kea again…!
Gorgeous Sunset going on…!
aloha tut — how’s the sunset in paradise tonight?
Doing well, Suzanne. And you?
the clouds and drizzle that have been plaguing me for the past week have finally moved on. tis warming up and the weather dood said its gonna be nice this weekend — i’m sure looking forward to the sunshine :)
I just edited in the webcams…! ;-)
holy moly that’s a sweet sunset dood
It was a beautiful day at sea level in Hilo today too…!
My 20 something daughter is travelling for six weeks in the western US and Canada. Have kept a map and atlas next to the phone and computer so when we communicate I can get a better idea of where and what she has been up to.
rockin’
Suzanne, I missed this in past comments– what state are u in?
i’m on the northern oregon coast, netarts bay which is just south of tillamook bay
That’s awesome, travel is always an education…!
what fun! she’s doing a grand tour hitting all the major sites?
Well Firebaggers, we should be proud. The quality of the trolls on this site is rising rapidly. Pretty soon we’ll have a PhD level troll. The big one today, claimed to be a grad student but had a problem with spelling, reading for comprehension and coherent thought. On the other hand it was better than LIBRUL’S SUX.
While I’m proud we are attracting so much attention, for all the right reasons, keeping things real around here is gonna get difficult.
daughter sends me pictures each day. Was in Salinas, Ca at the Steinbeck Museum last week
when stephanie is traveling, i always have google maps up and am following her vicariously — tis my way of reassuring myself that she’s fine on the trip (and i’ve got a decent idea of about where she is if anything goes wrong)
hey tuez — how was your day? i’ve always figured that trolls mean we are doing our job correctly and pissing off those that need to be pissed off… always cracks me up when we get the industry trolls pretending to be progressive
tis the perfect time of year to be visiting down there — i used to live in the santa cruz mts in boulder creek, 13 miles up the mt from santa cruz. the monterey peninsula is so pretty this time of year
She also sent a picture of a rusting truck in artichoke field with bumper sticker ‘Abundance is all around us’.
She was in Santa Cruz–said we needed to move there or else San Diego. LA didn’t do much for her
tis a great town with a laid back attitude….
Well Suz, my day was good, which means it was average and no drama ensued.
Yes I too, I take the high rent trolls to mean we are doing our job, or at least Jane is.
no drama is a very good thing :)
I went through that when the eldest had graduated and started grad school, first in SF, and then she had transferred to a school in Ohio, she took her time and went touring through a lot of the N.P.’s along the way, including a trip to the Grand Canyon…! ;-)
Hey Suz, the “link” problem has gotten worse today. Almost all the diaries I’d like to read I can’t get to. I thought they were fixing that.
I can read the diary from hell, but nothing of Kevin’s.
…I missed the trolls…but if my comments or opinion are ever attacked, it is usually by a name I have not seen at FDL before.
KYA radio, 1260!
AM dreams as a bay area child.
Or off of KGWB, Channel xxx (forget) 21 Score Scoreboard!
Lord, this was long (a few months) before FM n KMPX, KSAN.
‘Yer all over it, Suz!
*G*
is it only at myfdl that you have this problem? yesterday it was site wide
hey larue — how’s sac tonight? top of the hill, daly city dood
Serious drama and pretty funny.

let me check
I have 4 or 5 persistent trolls that like to pop in on my I/P posts, at least one of them will always pay me a visit…!
Daughter thinks she wants to move, I’m supporting her quest while telling myself it would only be… an airplane ride away…..
hahahahahaha
So this is where that riff comes from…I’d forgotten all about that group and that song! Love the memories it brings back.
Well, the smell of Clearasil isn’t a fond memory but you know what I mean.
my youngest is in colorado. we’ve learned to adjust and we talk on the phone most days. in some ways, we are even closer now
Now that I think about it, the biggest problems are accessing myfdl, although sometimes when trying to see the comments on the front page I get re-routed, but a second or third attempt lands me where I want to go. Can’t say the same for myfdl, even after allowing scripts in Firefox. Haven’t switched to IE to see if the results are the same.
hey margot — quick, think of noxzema… how’s ohio tonight?
ok, thanks. let me know if its in both browsers or just firefox.
CTuttle–I guess you have arrived if they follow you.
Ohio’s clover-scented and pretty, in a thundery way. I’m just happy to hear that some parts of New Mexico are getting rain (Santa Fe is). Huge relief.
Nite you guys:)
Good to know about the getting closer thing with the kids away.
*snoopy happy dance* tis good news about the rain — that fire at los alamos is forking scary
Still only 325 new members out of a goal of 1000. Maybe I’ll troll Kos and drag some here from there….
Unfortunately, I can count on one hand the number of times a year I switch from FF to IE for something I just “have” to see.
*heh* I guess that’s one way to look at it…! ;-)
Aloha, Margot…!
I have reason to believe that 325 number is not correct; however, we still need more.
ya gotta work at it but it can happen. steph and i talk on the phone if not every day, every other day. she usually calls me when she is driving to the store or home from the store or running errands. sometimes she doesn’t have anything to say – othertimes she does. i’ve become a better listener and have learned a lot and how important it is for me to be supportive of her decisions and she has learned to ask for my opinion. she’s going to be 23 this december
Margo–do you think it is crap that gov. Kasick wants to privatize the Ohio turnpike even though it is doing very well?
Tom what’s his name with the red corvette?
Bless ya ma’;am.
*G*
hey robert — i don’t think the thermometer has been refreshed… it’s reading the same as it was last weekend. how’s soPA tonight?
I do NOT!

On Hardball tonight: John Lennon wanted Reagan to defeat Jimmy Carter.
Say it ain’t so, Yoko!
*gasp* say it aint so
Hey Suz, and all. Thought I would drop by tonight for a quick visit. I am so discouraged about our country, can hardly bear to read the posts any more.
We have lost “pristine forest” as the fire burns across sacred Santa Clara lands today. I am so terribly sad about this.
I believe the fire danger has mostly passed Los Alamos now. Knock on uh, wood. I expect Little Momma will return from her trip to Colorado on Sunday or Monday. They should announce tomorrow when they plan to end the formal evacuation.
Wow what a day. Tut’s on top,Suz tunes rock an FDL is the land of gold for trolls.
Hey folks! Weather in SF was sunny for a change. The 4th is usually foggy.
This weekend I want to BBQ but it is going to be cold.
hey bg — do ya think the land around your family place burned? or did it bypass ya completely? been thinking of ya….
hey homeroid — how’s homer tonight?
spocko! long time no see your fonts dood — how ya been?
rocking
Tiz nice. As always-the beatings will continue until the morale improves.
… or the kids move out :)
Wisconsin Justice David Prosser grabs reporters microphone (video at link)
I hear you. When I was in the Midwest i got the impression that things are fine because all I saw were big cars, nice houses and well off individuals complaining about taxes. They will not be rioting in the streets. When I came back to SF started reading the blogs again and the stories in the MSM political press. I got more and more depressed.
The economic disaster will not be real to people on the right until it happens to multiple people in their immediate family. In the meantime the media focus on the working stiffs and management.
Only if the right wing press bring up the unemployment issue will it get coverage. Sad but true.
I could not have been more lucky last weekend. My brother was there and stayed through the evacuation, took LM to CO with him. It was totally efficient, calm and lacking drama to get out of there.
We had some days that were touch and go (and the danger is not totally over). But I don’t think our properties or the business were ever in danger over all. The 2000 fire was way more frightening and devastating, it came very close to us then.
My father refused to leave in 2000, but there were many more this fire who did not leave, and they have not been as hard core about it, officially, this time. Those who stayed behind in 2000 were very few, and it was way more dangerous with a lot of structures (more than 400) burned. Not one structure burned this time.
That is not to say that there was no danger this time, but it was very different–this fire reached 40,000 acres the first day. The last time it took two weeks to get to that number. So it was wild, but not in town. We had plenty of time to pack stuff up, and we were able to discuss our strategies at every step. Last time, the fire was burning for a few days before they evacuated, but the fire was essentially roaring into the neighborhoods as people left. This time it was huge and fast, but it did not come to town in the end. I felt very calm.
everyone was very lucky — that first day it just blew up and i thought it would continue to supersize each day. so good it was easy for lm and no drama — having your brother there was such a blessing
I have been contemplating writing a diary about how the media has played the Los Alamos story this week. They LOVE them some drama.
I have not really been able to put it together, but watching the daily press briefings and then watching what the TV (national) says the next day has been interesting.
i would love to read that diary bg
My brother is teh awesome. That is the main reason for no drama. I did not have to figure out and do anything by myself. We were a team, but there is no one I would rather have had but him there. It was incredible that he happened to be there. OMG.
aw fuck, i fucking snagged it
fuck
A tale of two fires. I will think about it more tomorrow.
Thanks for your support this week, Suz. I appreciate it a lot.
Love the vid of Jujube. Jen’s birthday and my father’s birthday are the same.
tis so hard when trying to do it all by yourself — i learned that when i had to evacuate after the japan quake due to the tsunami warning…. and it was just me and the two small critters…
glad i could offer cyber support bg — wow, she was born in 77 — a double number year…
tis about time for me to turn back into a pumpkin peeps. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight. hope to see ya tomorrow for muppets
g’nite all
It was great not to have to think about any critters during this. I would have been beside myself to have to leave my cats behind because I can’t catch them.
I have my car fullocrap in the driveway and have been using cars that friends have loaned me or given me rides so I don’t have to drive mine until I take allathecrap back to LM’s.
It’s not really crap of course, but it is. ;)
Nite, Suz. Take care.
Nite Suz thanks fer the tunes.
*heh* See what happens when I’m not around…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
