Morning BT and econo,
Just let the debt ceiling talks expire.
Obama is way late to the game of trying to frame this story for the good of the people.
I read that the first cut would be SS checks cut on the third of August.
That will be the third rail nobody talks about anymore.
Go ahead ripublicans, make my day, default.
Barry wants to raise taxes in a recession — to lower the deficit to turn the economy around. After he just lowered taxes and increased the deficit — to get a stimulus to turn the economy around. 11-dimensional chess again?
Republican Plan to Wreck US Credit Unconstitutional … Teabaggers Ravage Lady Liberty
Even if the Republican Congress fails to raise the debt ceiling in their stab at creating yet another right-wing disaster they can blame on President Obama, their attempt to force the United States into default is not permissible under The Fourteenth Amendment to the US Constitution …
Republican Plan to Wreck US Credit Unconstitutional
You’d think Obama would know about that 14th Amendment thing.
Mornin’, BT, pups
Mr Bachmann, here’s a newsflash for ya: you’re the barbarian. And an asshole.
“By Marx’s standard of freedom, and almost certainly by that laid out by Adam Smith in his Theory of Moral Sentiments, neoliberalization would surely be regarded as a monumental failure. For those left or cast outside the market system – a vast reservoir of apparently disposable people bereft of social protections and supportive social structures – there is little to be expected from neoliberalization except poverty, hunger, disease, and despair.”
A Brief History of Neoliberalism, David Harvey, pg 185
I find it remarkable that the Obamabots on other blogs are saying, “More of this, please” — in regard to Barry’s performance yesterday. I guess they’re just blind to the fact that he was, in essence, whining that he would trade getting rid of accelerated depreciation on corporate jets for the gutting of Medicare.
(Which accelerated depreciation he favored last year.)
We are fucked.
We have the bright shiny new brand of Obama. Someone has been “doing” focus groups.
“You need to be here,” he told Congress. “I’ve been here. I’ve been doing Afghanistan and bin Laden and the Greek crisis and — you stay here. Let’s get it done.”
Actually, it was not Big Zero, who did Afghanistan. It was our Supreme Leader, General Betrayus, who is “doing” Afghanistan. But Big Zero is taking credit for the Forever War. Also, Goldman Sachs is doing Greece, in the sense of Disaster Capitalism and Chicago economics.
But let us give the ChickenHawk in Chief credit for terminating Bin Laden, or at least one of the Bin Ladens. The connections with Pakistan and Saudi Terrorism discovered on Bin Laden’s laptops and thumb drives, remain secret.
Big Zero has also been “doing”, torturing Bradley Manning. Big Zero has ignored thousands of sexual assaults against women. But the Zero himself has been working with Republicans as they assault women. There is nothing more important to Big Zero, than giving Republicans and TeaBaggers everything they want.
We can depend on Fig Zero to compromise with Republicans and make rape legal, and miscarriages a crime, because he has already assaulted reproductive rights of women. Rape is already legal in the military.
The Pentagon has failed to act properly to investigate the 2,594 sexual assaults reported in 2010, a Government Accountability Office accused in a new report.
The GOP tear down of the full faith and credit of the United States Government
may finally be taking its toll in the credit markets.
[To the Mod: the GOP and EU links in BT's post above are the same.]
He’s been “doing the Greek crisis.” WTF does he mean?
Good question. If it were DSK making that statement, we’d know what what he was talking about.
Prediction: This coming Fourth of July will be the biggest, bestest evah!
Spontaneous discussions about independence, freedom, justice, the rule of law, and America’s true role in the world will occur in neighborhoods and watering-holes throughout the nation.
It will also be a time of true thanksgiving for the wide-spread realizatiion of the best aspects of the American Dream and the opportunity of a “shared” sense of sacrifice which our benevolent, upright, honest, and compassionate betters have graciously presented all of us.
Get yer firecrackers and have a blast!!!
(The preceeding SNARK is for the benefit of entertainment porpoises everywhere, in the hopes that they may get over their unseemly snit about the tiny oil leakage in the very big Gulf of Mexico, which apparently happened sometime when human beings were paying attention to something else, which was more important. Frankly, the entertainment porpoises seem little interested in the lurid details of OJ’s “confession” and are holding out for something more honest and necessary. Talk about yer dumb aminals … cheez wiz.)
Good morning to all … and have a happy and safe Independence Day.
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.

from downunder: Leadership lacking in the US
Latest “headline” at Huff Po, “Dems duck recess fight with GOP”.
Yeppers, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck …
Apologies, BT, but I couldna resist …
(ducks and waddles quickly away … oh dear! just like the ducky-Dems …)
“[...] even if Republican obstructionists try to ram our ship of state into a fiscal iceberg like the corporate pirates they are [...]”
Even though this is possibly the worst metaphor ever (pirates run ships into icebergs now?), that was an interesting read.
Re: “Too little, too late”: indeed it is. I don’t know why Obama’s suddenly so concerned about corporate welfare^W tax subsidies now, when he should have been looking into the matter when he took office two and a half years ago. Makes good political drama for prime-time, I guess.
Aw, they’re just merely jealous, selise.
And don’t forget the drones, if that is not American “leadership” at its bestest, then what possibly could be?
Been noticing and appreciating your comments, selise, please keep on …
(And thanks for that link to MItchell)
Edit would not allow me to thank you for the Mitchell link, selise, so I will thank you with another comment.
Thank you, selise; you put very critically important information before us … each and every day.
Obama’s presser: “For three years, I’ve been letting myself be beaten up by children.”
It is very sad when such potential (the US workforce) is left to hang out to dry by the political leaders in a nation. But it is clear – there is no viable and effective political leadership in the US at present capable of putting the people first (especially the most disadvantaged workers).
A quote from your link, Selise. I’ve read this blog, too. Used to live downundah. Austrialia’s work & economic conditions are better than ours, but they are also suffering from NeoLiberalism. Of course, I do point out to my mates downundah that a LOT of this is *their* fault for having “exported” horrid Rupert Murdoch to our fair shores… wanna talk about the media, mates??
Thanks for the link; good analysis, but similar to much of what was said here yesterday. How any Obamabot can love what Barry Zero said yesterday is beyond me.
I can understand that an Obamabot could love what the asshole said yesterday – all that’s required from their standpoint is that it be Obama who says something. I can’t understand how anyone capable of independent thought could love it, and it seems none of us do.
Tribalism is tribalism, I guess, no matter which “tribe” one decides to cling to. All this team sports rah-rah stuff never made that much sense to me, so guess that’s why I’m “out of the loop” on that muzzy thinking (thank goodness).
Obama knows about the 14th Amendment and how the debt limit bill should be ignored – if he or his staff read FDL.
But Obama is too busy selling out the left to read FDL – or FDR
thanks, DWB and onitgoes, for reading the mitchell link.
beowulf had a better plan worked out back in, iirc, january:
