thanks tuezday – margot linked to a carolyn wonderland video last week in the ana popovic thread and it reminded me i’ve not featured her for a while. glad ya like it
Good way to get rid of ants is to spread oatmeal around. The ants will take it back to their nest. When they eat it, the oatmeal expands so much, the ants will blowup….
That’s the thing, can’t figure out where they are coming in. In years past, I just sprayed the windowsills or doors. This time they seem to be coming from between the walls. Haven’t had them in years.
drizzled all the way over the coast range and cleared up when i got off the sunset highway in beaverton. white puffy clouds and blue skies while at jens and then gray clouds on my return trip over the coast range. some drizzle since i got home. weather dood says it is going to clear up and warm up

she’s really interacting now and has head control pretty much down. she’s gotten longer too and likes standing up. her favorite thing to do is fall asleep while being burped in a sitting position

hola cani de lago!
Suz! good to hear the baby talk!
CT! thank you for all the flotila setup chatter and doings!
and to all else hope your day is comfortably behind you :-)
weather here is damn pleasant for late June.
oh! and I’m fine Suz! :)
btw Like that Carolyn’s voice!
Ha! Talkers. We have a picture of Sara with a big red spot on the middle of her forehead. Amy put it there, Sara has her eyes closed and there is a note on her chest that reads “Shot Because She Talked Too Much.” Sara was four and Amy was seven.
what happened?
musta missed the invite?
had no idea. But I haven’t responded the last couple times I got an fdl email, so probably on me.
what happened?
out there too? that’s crazy.
We have Nebraskan neighbors 50-100 miles away that are really frettin the Missouri river floods. Up toward Omaha and KC. The Kansas R flows a few blocks from here – a 5 min walk – into the Missouri @ Kansas City (30 miles downstream of us), yet the river is not any higher here than normal with our levels of precip. Lucky this time here.
Yes, they have been pumping the water out for a month now. We had 140% of normal for rain and snow this year. Then, a cool spring and early summer. There was 67 feet of snow in the mountains. So, as it melts, folks are concerned. I don’t think the American will flood. At least, not here.
The weather is building, as it does every summer, to a climax. The afternoons are a blur of heat and light. The monsoons set up generally about July 5th, and the temperature breaks, the pure blue skies fill with thunderheads, and you may get a sprinkle, or a long soaking rain, or an inch of hail in ten minutes.
Oh, Okay, I think people thought her silence was related to the flotilla. But, in retrospect, maybe she had said something we’ve forgotten. The news moves too fast.
Every page of the Tao te Ching is a pearl. I like to just open it at random and read a page. This is the Stephen Mitchell translation, a small pocket edition I keep by the computer.
We have some young friends who planned to hike the Pacific Trail and had to cancel because of the crazy amounts of snow. Then we heard stories of snow up to the power lines and houses exploding because they’re encased in snow and the propane’s building up. ??
It’s open to all the paid FDL members that have submitted an interest in the drafting, and research for a FDL ‘platform’, for the upcoming election cycle…! Contact Kelly if you’re interested in participating in it…! *g*
This is great, Suz! Isn’t she something? She is so fluid with that guitar. Kind of reminds me of Asleep at the Wheel, just so good and has so much fun with the music.
I guess you can’t blame them for following the money, like hunter-gathers following the mastodon herds. America is a hollowed-out shell, a collapsing empire, and the pickin’s are gettin’ mighty slim.
Good for you. I thought about emigrating a lifetime ago, but America still had a lot of potential, and I took the lazy way out. Nobody would want me now.
yeah, me too… i linked to the wrong one :( i was up at 1045 this morning and it was a long day…. i’m not as sharp as i should be — i forked up with ks uptread
maybe i need a brownie or something… i did bring home a slice of birthday cake
One of my kids is an acupuncturist and the other is a nurse. I think most countries would take them. I hope. I suggested that they start learning Spanish. I would love it if we all moved to Costa Rica. But I dream on.
Got it. No i did not express interest. But since i missed on every webinar an all since the beginning. I still am not sure Ryan got it straight yet. So i don’t know if i miss something or not.Time will tell.
Suz, we had a real scare with Nipper, our 16-year old Tux cat. Sunday he was having a lot of trouble breathing. We took him to the vet and left him overnight. they sent him home and two hours later he was back at the vdet with the same problems.
He’s home now, we have a course of steroids for him and a bronchial-dilator. I suspect we don’t have a lot of time left with him, but he’s better for the moment. Not great but better. This will be three in three years. It’s very hard though when we do have to let him go, we should have a few relatively trouble-free years. The boys are young and Billie is still healthy.
CT: it’s cool, I woulda liked to do that with the scoring today. I was just listening to the news anyway. Always fun to use my microphone and talk to pups. Some other time. Again, it’s entirely possible there was a specific signup list for that which I didn’t see…
Yeah, I have to get on that, now that the pioneering’s getting under control.
I’ve been reading and recc’ing your posts, but in a lurking way. Thank you for your work. I’ve got so much trepidation. I had the true pleasure of meeting Kathy Kelly and listening to her speak a couple years ago. She is a force for humanity. And so small, physically.
I keep sending up my atheist’s prayer…”Please, do no harm, Israel.”
Bought a used Isuzu last fall when my van died a natural death. It had this “God bless America” sticker on the back that had a flag background and an eagle. I just now got around to dealing with it. I carved away all but ” God less” Now i am a “GDFH”
He’s doing better this evening. We have no illusions, at 16, he’s very geriatric and if we have him another six months I will be surprised. J is not ready to let him go (nor am I) but it’s that deal we make with the devil every time we open our hearts to a pet. We get all that lovin’, but we pay the price when we have to let them go.
y’know, I’m really outclassed here. I may be up on coffee tonight and seem quick, but really, the best I can do on a regular basis is be a cheerleader and root for the team. Any analysis I might provide is gazing at the forest rather than the detail of the trees. That’s mostly covered anyway. So, as my inclination is to find gaps in analysis or observation and fill them in, there is very little of that needed here.
I’d agree ‘the more the merrier’ in general, but too many cooks spoil the soup. I have always felt welcomed and encouraged here. If I had more time to spend I would.Longer I am here the more I trust the inclinations and capacities of all the pups. Most of youse anyway. FDL’s a rare find for all that!!!
Well, cmaukonen has a post up on myfdl dealing with just that sort of mind.
I’ve simplified it down to “Phhhhtttttt!” Can’t even get excited enough to mutter “fuk u”.
Though I did see one , ” Socialism is the enemy of a free country”,….that turned my head a bit.
Mahalo, open…! *g* They’re all true heroes, indeed…! I had the distinct pleasure to meet Col. Ann Wright, the lead organizer and she’s an amazing woman…! *g*
i’m that way too ks — most folks have already said what i have to say (and much better than i would have) so i’m a cheerleader too. mostly, i just lurk and read and learn except here on the dark side of the lake.
fdl has the smartest commenters on the net, hands down. every day i learn something new at fdl — sometimes from the front page post, sometimes from the comments but everyday i learn something new.
and 3 years of oregon nice. i swear, i’m a nicer person up here than i was in ca. down there it was all hustle and bustle — folks here are so much nicer and laid back.
>blush< thx!
you too openhope!
You're right. One of the most important things I believe is simply increasing the number of voices. And hearing them.
oh and I have a quote for that, gimme a sec
[I get excited and fork up, using grammar *from other languages* and lose clarity and eyeballs. I am working on that though.]
“Facts are but the Play-things of lawyers, _ Tops and Hoops, for-ever a-spin…. Alas, the Historian may indulge no such idle Rotating. History is not Chronology, for that is left to the lawyers, – nor is it Remembrance, for Remembrance belongs to the People. History can as little pretend to the Veracity of the one, as claim the Power of the other, – her Practitioners, to survive, must soon learn the arts of the quidnunc, spy, and Taproom Wit, – that there may ever continue more than one life-line back into a Past we risk, each day, losing our forebears in forever, – not a Chain of single Links, for one broken Link could lose us All, – rather, a great disorderly Tangle of Lines, long and short, weak and strong, vanishing into the Mnemonick Deep, with only their Destination in common.”
quoted as from The Rev’d Wicks Cherrycoke, Christ and History
token had a great time at doggie day care while i was at jen’s. he did a 4 mile walk on the beach with marie, mel, and the other small dogs. marie said he ran and ran and ran all day long, playing with the pack and only stopped to eat dinner. he almost fell asleep in the car on the 5 min home tonight.
right now, i feel about as tired as he was in the car – i’m gonna head out and crawl into bed with token, who’s been snoring for quite some time…
Zed. Workin my ass off.
hey homeroid — how’s homer tonight?
Hiya, Suz!
What’s on my mind? I’ll tell ya. Finally got rid of the damn roaches and fuckin ants moved in.
Can’t win in the subtropics I guess.
And that there is some worthless ruminating.
PS. Like the tune.
Nice now. wet day. Wonder how much more i can work to pay for the ubers tax cuts.
hey newton — how’s the bay area tonight?
hey tuezday — used coffee grounds spread around where the ants are getting in usually does the trick for me.
thanks tuezday – margot linked to a carolyn wonderland video last week in the ana popovic thread and it reminded me i’ve not featured her for a while. glad ya like it
jujube speaks
Aloha, Suz…! You’ve been naughty, no new Jujube pics…? The Better Half wanted to see the latest ones…! Me included, btw…! *g*
Funny as Hell, Suz. Middle of a warm day, we get torrential downpour, like being in Tucson, cept without the whole frying pan temps.
Your deal?
Good way to get rid of ants is to spread oatmeal around. The ants will take it back to their nest. When they eat it, the oatmeal expands so much, the ants will blowup….
Try it. It works….
That’s the thing, can’t figure out where they are coming in. In years past, I just sprayed the windowsills or doors. This time they seem to be coming from between the walls. Haven’t had them in years.
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
and look at the comment above yours :)
Hey, I’ll try that. I prefer natural methods, since I have pets. I use boric acid on the damn roaches.
Adorable!
*heh* I’m slow as usual…! D’uh…! ;-)
drizzled all the way over the coast range and cleared up when i got off the sunset highway in beaverton. white puffy clouds and blue skies while at jens and then gray clouds on my return trip over the coast range. some drizzle since i got home. weather dood says it is going to clear up and warm up
i sure hope so
hey robert — how’s soPA tonight?
hey dearie — she’s just too flippin’ cute :) how was your day?
Best tech new of the day: the hairy robot armpit
In the case of the picker robot. It releases a chemical called androstadienone, which is found in male sweat. This has been shown in research to effect mood in females under certain circumstances. The inventer speculated that this robot when used on a production line could enhance the performance of female employees in it’s vicinity.

Sunny and wonderful. I have no complaints.
What a cutey.
O
M
G
i bet it was warm too *sigh*
I’m not sure that is an armpit.
The Better Half’s immediate reaction… “Ooh, she’s nice and chunky…” followed by a swoon…! *g*
I stand corrected… ‘Pudgy’ then the swoon…
what she said.
If it was anything else, what would you think it was?
she’s really interacting now and has head control pretty much down. she’s gotten longer too and likes standing up. her favorite thing to do is fall asleep while being burped in a sitting position
she has her next ped appt this friday — we estimated her weight at 11 lbs… but she might be 12
her eyes are still blue to blue/gray and her brownish hair has a lotta red still in it…
I’m only on my first glass of wine…
Ask one or two down the road.
I could get into having my back rubbed whilst falling asleep too.
Been married too damn long.
Way to cute. Once they start talkin it’s a whole bunch of energy to keep up. I know you know that.
tis also the down side of being a solo. token does a pretty good job of being a bed warmer in the winter but… if i want anything, its up to me to get up and get it
she’s gonna be a talker — its gonna be fun watching jen get some payback in that regard…
hola cani de lago!
Suz! good to hear the baby talk!
CT! thank you for all the flotila setup chatter and doings!
and to all else hope your day is comfortably behind you :-)
weather here is damn pleasant for late June.
oh! and I’m fine Suz! :)
btw Like that Carolyn’s voice!
Bwhahaha…! They just hafta build a robot for every conceivable need, eh…? ;-)
carolyn — this is the video margot linked to last week
hey ks — how’s ks tonight?
Ha! Talkers. We have a picture of Sara with a big red spot on the middle of her forehead. Amy put it there, Sara has her eyes closed and there is a note on her chest that reads “Shot Because She Talked Too Much.” Sara was four and Amy was seven.
hahahaha hey senator — how’s sac tonight? did you get a torrential downpour like newton did in the bay are?
Way cool.
Ha, I don’t bother having him get anything because of the mess (read: total disaster), asking for a glass of juice would entail.
And he’d probably decide the dishwasher was the easiest place to find a glass.
Aloha, k-pop…! We missed ya at today’s webinar…!
Yep. I think it is still raining.
yikes — is it snowing or raining in the sierras?
gotcha! see 38
weather here is damn pleasant for late June.
oh! and I’m fine Suz! :)
I think it is raining which may be worse than snow because it makes the snow melt. The river is still really, really high.
what happened?
musta missed the invite?
had no idea. But I haven’t responded the last couple times I got an fdl email, so probably on me.
what happened?
fork *head hanging in shame*
carolyn and ruthie
Hey, CT is Siun on the flotilla? That question was unanswered the last time I looked at the live thread.
out there too? that’s crazy.
Lucky this time here.
not that i am aware of
fuck.. all that rain will make the snow melt faster… is the river high because of resevoir releases upstream?
nonono you, I snuck in here => mea culpa :)
Oh, okay.
That was an unanswered question on one thread.

i’m glad you are fine and ks is fine — steph’s in southwestern co and said it is getting forking hot there
hey dave — how ya doing tonight?
All I can ascertain is she had a medical procedure done lately, hence my concern…! Maybe Suz or ET could elaborate…?
Edit: I guess Suz was unaware too…!
Yes, they have been pumping the water out for a month now. We had 140% of normal for rain and snow this year. Then, a cool spring and early summer. There was 67 feet of snow in the mountains. So, as it melts, folks are concerned. I don’t think the American will flood. At least, not here.
Good evening all.
Great to see the baby pics and hear a kick ass woman musician. :)
I could have enjoyed that but alas i never get any notice. The fix aint fixed.
Hot here, too hot to sleep.
The weather is building, as it does every summer, to a climax. The afternoons are a blur of heat and light. The monsoons set up generally about July 5th, and the temperature breaks, the pure blue skies fill with thunderheads, and you may get a sprinkle, or a long soaking rain, or an inch of hail in ten minutes.
i can’t dood — that’s not something i am comfortable discussing
Oh, Okay, I think people thought her silence was related to the flotilla. But, in retrospect, maybe she had said something we’ve forgotten. The news moves too fast.
dave, this is a favorite of mine . good to see it again. How are you?
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight?

mutha fuckas
Yep. We can see the snow capped mountains from our front yard except when the air quality sinks.

Man, Got Me Under Pressure.
FYI. the last notice I got was to burn my AARP card 23jun.
This is great, Suz! Isn’t she something? She is so fluid with that guitar. Kind of reminds me of Asleep at the Wheel, just so good and has so much fun with the music.
are you talking about an all fdl members webinar or just one for the scoring?
Softly raining on newly planted basil
all slugs slimed back into the earth
:)
I guess you can’t blame them for following the money, like hunter-gathers following the mastodon herds. America is a hollowed-out shell, a collapsing empire, and the pickin’s are gettin’ mighty slim.
wow
hey that guy — how ya doing tonight? — forking love zztop — esp this one
I am encouraging my kids to find jobs in other countries.
how’s your garden handling all the rain? it finally dried out enough that the grass got cut here…
The scoring one, which is not just scoring, per se…! ;-)
Where the hell did i put my pitchfork.
I like this older version…
ok, because the way you worded it originally, i thought it was an all fdl members webinar….
Its gone. The banksters stole it and sold to the Greeks.
Good for you. I thought about emigrating a lifetime ago, but America still had a lot of potential, and I took the lazy way out. Nobody would want me now.
I am bound for New Orleans on the 5th.
yeah, me too… i linked to the wrong one :( i was up at 1045 this morning and it was a long day…. i’m not as sharp as i should be — i forked up with ks uptread
maybe i need a brownie or something… i did bring home a slice of birthday cake
woohoo!!!
Yep, sometimes it feels like time to move on. Makes me sad.
Costa Rica is on my list of places to visit. I’ve never been to Central America, and I hope to get down there at some point.
Been an exhausting coupla days.
oh no! please keep me posted — sending nipper warm positive healing thoughts and prayers
That is hard. Kisses to you and your kittah.
CT: it’s cool, I woulda liked to do that with the scoring today. I was just listening to the news anyway. Always fun to use my microphone and talk to pups. Some other time. Again, it’s entirely possible there was a specific signup list for that which I didn’t see…
Aint that something i would have just loaned it. Those banksters got it comin an goin.
oh this is a nice dream. It’s still nice down there. I have friends trying to start somethin up in CR
happy lucky 100 homeroid!!!
I’m going to try sleeping again. Good night, peeps. Be good to one another.
Wonder if i can get my pitchfork back without making payments.
Sweet dreams, 4cdave.
Congrats on the Century mark…! If you’re interested send Ryan an email…! Ask Kelly too…! ;-)
Ha Was not even watching.
u 2 d!
I’m not sure exactly how it’s happening, but, it’s happening…! ;-)
Oh, that’s a hard one. I’m sorry.
Listening to your music choice as I type. Suits me fine, thanks.
I am off to bed, too. See you all tomorrow.
g’nite dave
g’nite mary mac
nite-nite mary!

that’s how i usually end up snagging it — by not paying attention…. thank goodness you did because tonight, i wasn’t
surprised not to see Kelly tonight. Maybe he’s gotta fire up under him, eh?
your doin fine S!
It’s good to see ya, too!

Yes, it’s not as easy to casually flip off a driver you might have to stand next to in the grocery store. That always makes me pause.

you are so red flagged……………………………………!
Your family is heading into the final stretch, :). Bet it’s getting exciting.
wasn’t it! she’s even looking down at the evelope…
wow — that’s powerful ks
*heh* I’m gonna put Larry Flynt to shame…! ;-)
Went and read that -Thanks.
CT – ET @ skype is philipmunger
token had a great time at doggie day care while i was at jen’s. he did a 4 mile walk on the beach with marie, mel, and the other small dogs. marie said he ran and ran and ran all day long, playing with the pack and only stopped to eat dinner. he almost fell asleep in the car on the 5 min home tonight.

thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
g’nite all
hey et — always good to see ya — sorry to be heading out just as you are headed in….
*le poof
Pynchon’s a favorite for lots of reasons. If you like big books and don’t mind struggling with them, he’s real good for our age I think.
that cmaukonen article reffed above is a good one, I thought too, homeroid
g’nite Suzanne! and thank you!
What a great quote. If I could name the next social movement it might have to be Tangle Of Lines.
Aah…! Mucho Gracias, Senor…! *g*
Sweet dreams, Suz…! *g*
I’ve been thinking about that a lot today in the vegetable garden.
Nite Suz.
good one!
:) don’t tell the organizers that eh? (:
‘night, Suzanne.
‘night, Token.
Sweet dreams.
Now go the fuck to sleep. [ couldn't resist]
Guess it’s time to head for bed myself.
Goodnight all.
peace, laughter, strength
