Good way to get rid of ants is to spread oatmeal around. The ants will take it back to their nest. When they eat it, the oatmeal expands so much, the ants will blowup….

That’s the thing, can’t figure out where they are coming in. In years past, I just sprayed the windowsills or doors. This time they seem to be coming from between the walls. Haven’t had them in years.

she has her next ped appt this friday — we estimated her weight at 11 lbs… but she might be 12

We have Nebraskan neighbors 50-100 miles away that are really frettin the Missouri river floods. Up toward Omaha and KC. The Kansas R flows a few blocks from here – a 5 min walk – into the Missouri @ Kansas City (30 miles downstream of us), yet the river is not any higher here than normal with our levels of precip. Lucky this time here.

Yes, they have been pumping the water out for a month now. We had 140% of normal for rain and snow this year. Then, a cool spring and early summer. There was 67 feet of snow in the mountains. So, as it melts, folks are concerned. I don’t think the American will flood. At least, not here.

Suz, we had a real scare with Nipper, our 16-year old Tux cat. Sunday he was having a lot of trouble breathing. We took him to the vet and left him overnight. they sent him home and two hours later he was back at the vdet with the same problems.

He’s home now, we have a course of steroids for him and a bronchial-dilator. I suspect we don’t have a lot of time left with him, but he’s better for the moment. Not great but better. This will be three in three years. It’s very hard though when we do have to let him go, we should have a few relatively trouble-free years. The boys are young and Billie is still healthy.

Been an exhausting coupla days.

He’s doing better this evening. We have no illusions, at 16, he’s very geriatric and if we have him another six months I will be surprised. J is not ready to let him go (nor am I) but it’s that deal we make with the devil every time we open our hearts to a pet. We get all that lovin’, but we pay the price when we have to let them go.

y’know, I’m really outclassed here. I may be up on coffee tonight and seem quick, but really, the best I can do on a regular basis is be a cheerleader and root for the team. Any analysis I might provide is gazing at the forest rather than the detail of the trees. That’s mostly covered anyway. So, as my inclination is to find gaps in analysis or observation and fill them in, there is very little of that needed here.
I’d agree ‘the more the merrier’ in general, but too many cooks spoil the soup. I have always felt welcomed and encouraged here. If I had more time to spend I would.Longer I am here the more I trust the inclinations and capacities of all the pups. Most of youse anyway. FDL’s a rare find for all that!!!

token had a great time at doggie day care while i was at jen’s. he did a 4 mile walk on the beach with marie, mel, and the other small dogs. marie said he ran and ran and ran all day long, playing with the pack and only stopped to eat dinner. he almost fell asleep in the car on the 5 min home tonight.
