Smokey Robinson – Cruisin’
It’s been awhile since I’ve played some Motown…!
What’s on your mind tonite…?
One of my fav songs of all time.
Weird that one of the best versions of this song is a duet with Gwyneth Paltrow. Who knew?
I’ve tried three times in the past week, but this is my first success.
How are you doin’?
Hellooooo! Read yer email!
Congrats on the Zed, wigwam…!
I gots no mo’ town tonight.
The Hollies – Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress
Aloha, ruh 17…! Glad ya like it…!
Nowhere To Run…
Wilco, Kelly…! How’s the front range tonite…?
Power Grid Change May Disrupt Clocks
The group that oversees the U.S. power grid is proposing a change that has the potential to disrupt electric clocks in schools, hospitals and other institutions. It may also mess with the timing of traffic lights, security systems, sprinklers and some personal computer software and hardware. The test is tentatively set to start in mid-July, but that could change. Wall clocks and those on ovens and coffeemakers — anything that flashes “12:00″ when it loses power — may be just a bit off every second, and that error can grow with time.
Last year, fdl provided the world’s best real time coverage of the interception of the Gaza flotilla, thanks especially to Siun. This year we will do even better. Looking for suggestions as to how to help do this.
Aloha, Dave…! The Hollies are great…!
*heh* Shades of Y2K eh…?
Aloha, The Robert…! ;-)
I actually have that on my iPod.
Keyboard flaking out again. Minimal typing, maximal cut-and-paste.
The Pretenders – Hymn to Her
Sometimes I just put that one on repeat.
Aloha, ET…! I’m working on a diary that will have a boatload of Twitter links to follow…! ;-)
Hallow. Just put the above link up because I don’t want FDLers to think they slipped into The Twilight Zone when this little reported event happens….
My mother called me yesterday, all excited, she had gotten within spittin’ or shoe throwing distance of W and did neither, as that wouldn’t have been Christian of her and he was a good christian man.
I let her have it.
Li’l better than yesterday’s 96! Hotter than hell with no AC here, yanno?
I was at the Russkis yesterday, cooking like mad for that tribe. (Health issue with the newest baby) and I got hotter than, I dunno what. The grammas and aunties and I ended up on the porch with vodka shots long about 6:00 in the afternoon. It was very humorous from there out!
‘Twas 77 today, but back to mid ’90s starting tomorrow. Blech.
Papa was a Rolling Stone…
Keyboard stabilizing, temperature dropping.
I ordered a new KVM switch today, this one handles DVI and USB. No other USB devices are flaking out, maybe by using what amounts to an external hub this will clear up. I hear a little distortion on the USB audio, but I just replace the whole OS and maybe it needs some tweaking – it certainly did the last time I upgraded the OS, it took me days to get it working.
Mahalo Ctuttle. Huge Motown fan Grew up on Golden Oldies and a second motown Disney montage movie that’s name escapes me at the moment. I’m still waiting for them on Bluray ;)
Vonda Shepard – Maryland
aloha tut — forking love smokey! thanks dood
Somehow some malware named atmlib32 penetrated my Norton security and turned my google toolbar into an ad link mess. Mess with it for hours until I used Norton’s Power Eraser to get rid of it….
Can I suggest using AVG or Avira? Anything but Norton.
Well alrighty then… Let’s get it on…! ;-)
Supremes – Someday We’ll be Together
I’ve used Norton for years, have heard all the warning to drop and use AVG or others, but this was the first time any of my computers got infected. And it was Norton that, with its Power Eraser, removed what I’ve learned is a very complicated, nearly impossible to remove malware….
Aloha, Suz…! Enjoying your Jujube fix…? ;-)
I’m pretty sure the southbridge is overheating. 87 degrees in here right now. I’ve added two fans, and that kept it stable most of the day. BUT the other USB devices are working, no IDE/SATA issues. Keyboard is rock solid on two other machines. And I don’t know whether to attribute the USB distortion (pretty slight) to USB issues, or just the excessive tweaking pulseaudio needs to behave properly. I thought they would have it fixed by now.
Nothing is ever simple.
Besides, the arguments I’m sure you’ve heard against Norton, I don’t find it necessary to be constantly reminded my AV is running and to pay for the inconvenience.
ok here ya go…. a little Chris Christie for ya
Clamwin That’s what I use.
Have you considered disabling java plugins?
He Was Really Saying Something…
True, that is very annoying, but I accept it as the price I’m willing to pay to avoid an infected hard drive….
That’s good. I was working along the same lines, but if you can do it, even better.
Nothing browser related.
That’s one I haven’t heard of, or have forgotten about. I used AVG for years, until the free version quit having the automatic shutdown following the scan. Then I moved to Avira.
jen had something come up today and let me know last night. we rescheduled my visit for tomorrow which is wonderful since that’s jen’s birthday :)
Wanna compare notes then…? ;-)
My only fear is that it will happen Thursday nite, since I’ll be atop the mtn once again…!
I’m predicting more like Friday-Saturday. Or later.
Was expecting this after Obama had been in office for as long as he has. Instead we have this.
BTW, just saying, I’ve figured the whole National government problem out.
All we need is a block of 42 House members that will only and always vote Progressive. Figuring out exactly what “Progressive” is, is a chore by itself, and the exact 42 damn seats too, but here’s the thing:
A block of 42 in the House, solid and consistent, can make the whole Government change by the “power of the purse.” They can stop anything but treaties.
I call it the “Answer to Life, Universe & Everything” Caucus.
*heh* So ya gotta prolong your withdrawal pangs one more day…?
I just brought that up out of my own experience of overheating when streaming videos. I unabled “engage” & shockwave active X. No more overheating….
Free as in speech, free as in beer. Nightly definition updates. I don’t know about fancy malware removal tools, since I’ve actually never had a virus in 30 years of computer use. Someone emailed me a Windows virus to my Mac once, of course it couldn’t run.
We used to have Macs :( But I have to use a PC for work and when my hubby’s last ‘puter died we didn’t have the money for a Macbook, although he still has a G4.
Col. Wright says they’re ready to sail, after passing the ‘sea-worthy’ trial…! Btw, One of the ships is disabled by a sawn Propellor shaft, I wonder how that could’ve happened…?
am consoling myself with a bowl of vanilla bean ice cream with a serious dollop of caramel on top…
That’d do the trick for me…! ;-)
I fail to see how a ship full of letters of encouragement is a threat to anyone.
As per the norm, the USG and the Israelis are acting like a bunch of spoiled 2 year olds.
I have two dead Macs in the basement. I maintain one Windows box to play games on (never run Explorer, never do email there, never use a credit card there, live behind a firewall on my router, run Clamwin, etc.). Otherwise I run Linux. Plenty of issues, but few if any malicious ones.
Bob Seger – Turn the Page
Have you ever tried caramel with sea salt gelato? It’s tres tasty.
Simon and Garfunkel – Bridge Over Troubled Water
You would probably be impressed with the extent that I’ve crippled XP to obey only me and not MS. I’ve even turned off a few services that allow MS to install updates without my express consent (beyond not allowing automatic updates). And my router is locked down but good too. When I’m not reading political blogs, I hang out on tech sites.
I have “Because” by the Beatles, vocals only, on a tape loop.
OK, I’ll pull the political talk off later, but it’s true; if you own a solid and dedicated 42 house seats that will vote in a monolithic bloc no matter what, the House, Senate and Prez can’t do SQUAT without you.
I henceforth call my project Parliament42.
Eggs-actly…! Get a load of this…
Israel fears Gaza flotilla activists may try to kill IDF soldiers…
Some Kinks is so apropo…
Actually, I meant to reply to that. Only 42 critters seems like an achievable number. And the more money the Koch’s have to spend to defeat us, the better.
That’s the most reasonable plan I’ve heard in ages.
your idea has a lot of merit. I like it.
Did you see Democracy Now’s segment on the flotilla this morning?
If those people are a threat to the IDF, the IDF has some ‘splainin’ to do. Bunch of wussies.
CCR – Fortunate Son
It ain’t me, it ain’t me, I ain’t no millionaire’s son
It ain’t me, it ain’t me, I ain’t no fortunate one
There are only some exceptional circumstances that require greater than %50 in the House.
Absolute ownership, by actual people, of 10% of the House screws up up all Corporatist plans, no matter who originates them.
The problems are selecting, electing, and ensuring the promises are kept. I’m not thrilled with current and alleged future players in that regard, so it’s still a problem.
Conquerable, but still a problem.
I hadn’t seen it but, I most assuredly will watch in the morn…! *g*
This was the other tune I wanted to share tonight…
Robert Randolph and Rob Thomas – Voodoo Child
Here, it’s not a long clip.
It works for me. Just wish I had some money to throw at someone.
No, I wish my incorporated uterus had some money to throw at someone.
Folks, I’ve not been able to sleep in the past 36 hrs, my Better half said I look like death warmed over, I beg ya’lls forgiveness if I do bow out early tonite…!
I can’t help myself…! ;-)
My work here is done for the night. Stay frosty, peeps. I’ll check in tomorrow.
We want your cool life, CT. Rest is good.
Nite CT and 4cdave.
After all, most of them erected offals are maggot brains, too.
My joking aside, I concur.
Sooooo Kelly . . . what next?
MY rep Matsui likely won’t be true . . .
Eh, my FORMER rep as I will never vote for her again, that is.
Now that I’ve thought about it for more than a minute, should be called
And be about just a few items, very few:
-Congress should lower retirement age for Social Security purposes to 60
-Congress should lower Medicare age to 50, today, make it Medicare for ALL in 5 years
-Congress should create a Direct Hire program, like WPA/CCC, to combat unemployment for people under 50
-Congress should defund the wars and any Nation Building other than our Nation, and repatriate those budget pieces to Nation/Infrastructure Building in the US
Those 4 points are entirely attractive to the median US Citizen.
Those of us over 55 who HAVE to work and can’t get a job?
I gotta go, I’ll check this thread tomorrow.
Sorry to hear of yer heat.
WInd kicked up today, it’s very kewl tonite, tomorrow, By Thursday, 100F n up from there for three days after that.
Vodka shots in 100F heat . . . wow, they tough ladies! You too!
Be well n best to yours . . .
Interesting. Most modern clocks run on crystals, so they won’t be affected. Most of those inexpensive wall clocks that you see in public buildings won’t be affected, either. I think I have one or two that will be affected, though. Naturally, one is my alarm clock.
I wonder how they’ll measure how much of a disruption this is? Seems to me that some people won’t even notice, and some will just assume their clocks are a little more off than usual.
Yerps, yup, there’s some gappage there. This is just back-o-the-napkin kinda talk. But you get the drift.
Crusin —perfect! Youtube offered me James & Bobby Purify after, which isn’t bad either.
‘K, thnx, good driftage tho . . .
