Thin Lizzy – ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’
The Boys are back… on the road! Thin Lizzy, Alice Cooper, and Def Leppard just kicked off the Mirrorball: Live and More tour in Ireland. Interestingly, I think the three new tracks on Def Leppard’s new album are Walmart quality indeed…! As it’s being sold exclusively at Walmart…
Undefeated is the best of the trio, but it’s a feeble attempt at recapturing the ‘Pour some Sugar’ enthusiasm… It’s All About Believin’ is pretty pedestrian… But, ‘Kings Of The World’ is an atrocious attempt at emulating Queen…! One commenter summed it up best… “Good grief, can we get some old school Def Leppard, and NOT old school Queen?”
What’s on your mind tonite…?

About Firedoglake
Zed?
Came across some Brenda Holloway tunes tonight, and thought of the FDL crowd.
Congrats, MZ…! ;-)
It’s my first. :-)
Hey, CT, how’s paradise tonight?
I’ll admit it, this time of the night I don’t have much on my mind.
Aloha, Mr Why…! Great tune…!
Aloha, Dearie…! It was actually a gorgeous day, with the Sun just now slipping behind the Mtn…!
Aloha, tuezday…! Because you’re already burnt out on all the sorry news of the day…? My wife(ex-Walmart employee) is furious at the Supremes for their pathetic ruling today…!
Ooh, how cool…! ;-) How’s PDX tonite…?
aloha tut — great review dood
Mahalo, Suz…! *g* How’s your inlet tonite…?
It’s suddenly the summer season and lots of activity. The weather is still rainy but I am turning the heat on at night fewer days now.
“Eyes on the Prize” – Eulogies
I’m not sure what to think of that Walmart ruling. On the surface it sucks but I read a few things that indicated it might be for the best. Of course, that assumes the women have a case tight enough for a lawyer to take in on contingency, and this case might make that more difficult.
My husband is in the middle, or beginning of, a worker’s comp case, and it sure has opened my eyes to the way these things work.
overcast earlier in the day but it cleared up around 4pm and was a forking gorgeous rest of the day. clear skies tonight for stargazing and its supposed to hit 80 tomorrow in pdx (a rare event so far this year). that means i should be in the 70′s.
Lovely. We’re still doing June Gloom here on the south central coast of CA, but got some lovely afternoon sun this afternoon. Nice. Breezy. The ocean was gentle. My walking partner and I enjoyed a nice long walk once she got off work.
Btw, Food for thought…? ;-)
{ LOL } That’s very funny. I’ve never seen that.
isn’t that a great video! i featured it a week or so before halloween last year
It was a Corporate win any way ya slice and dice it… Woman and any future class action suits took a huge hit…! 8-(
*heh* Figures ya would’ve already…! He did ‘poison’ too on the Muppets…! ;-)
Tuezday, are you in California?
The Supremes are just gonna keep pounding the crap out of us til we stand up and take ‘em down. Trust me on this.
How in the world does Clarence Thomas not face impeachment for all the gifts he’s recieved and the half a mill he wife got from private interests?
He’s clearly the most corrupt Supreme Court justice in history….
Looks like Rachel’s taking up the mantle from Anthoney Weiner to force the media to deal with Thomas, though. Shultz did some on it tonight, also.
You know what the problem is? Goddamed progressives will NOT stand up and FIGHT tooth, fang and claw, and the repukes will.
There needs to be some pushback against the repukes and I do NOT mean “please don’t hurt me.”
As long as we are passive and weak, we will be walked upon, spat upon and shat upon.
I for one would like to see Thomas, Scalia, Alito impeached.
Anybody have ideas on how?
Never happen with the current crop of Dems. Gutless cowards.
This is why I think we need a new civil rights movement that incorporates everything and everybody. Even underlying the governments total lack of progress on job creation is civil rights. It should be a right to have a job, not luck. Everyone has to be equal, it should be a right. I don’t care what color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, we all are humans and have the civil right to a job, health care, privacy, clean air and water, uncontaminated food, free speech, etc. The underlying foundation of this country should be civil rights.
If human decency fell under the auspices of civil rights, Walmart would never have been able to behave the way they did.
Aloha, TG…! I showed the pups this Delbert clip last nite, and I was asked who the Guitarist was…!
We did it again when we stayed out of the fight to take Anthoney Weiner down…
No, I’m in Florida.
So who’s going to use an Alice Cooper tune for their campaign theme song?
Aloha, robert…! It was the odious Scalia that wrote for the majority…! *gah*
Guitarist is the great Rob McNelley. Best guitarist Delbert ever had. Good friend of mine, too.
“No more, Mr. Nice Guy”. Ummm, Obama?
Just another example of why we’ll never have single-payer health care, Social Security will die as will Medicare. Because Democrats are gutless cowards, afraid of what Sean Hannity and Billo the clown will say.
Repukes are sub-human filth but they are the stronger group. They are not afraid to shove our faces in the shit and our elected representatives just say “thank you sir, may I have another?”
nothin against you,
but I’m sick of this, ‘Dems are cowards, won’t do shit. But life really sucks and nobody agrees on how to get out of the drain.’
It makes us look weaker than we are standing out in left field waving frantically and saying ‘Oh! look what he did over there! Somebody better go fix that!’
And then another nut flies his plane into the IRS again or Brietbart gets a party-approved woody and the press thinks it’s just so stylish
or worse.
I’m sick of it!
Some good news here from Avaaz.Org.
Have folks seen this book salon from last Saturday? Just the action of signing up here (of course you back it up if called upon) will have a positive effect. Imagine 50,000 people making the commitment.
If you’re sick of it, stand up and do something about it. Tell a democratic elected representative you’re tired of THEM being gutless cowards, afraid of being called a “liberal.”
If someone like Alan Grayson came along again, I might have some hope, but without him, who is there to stand up to Boner and Cantor? Who is there to tell that asshole Hannity to shut his fuckin pie hole? Who is there to tell Mitch McConnell to shove a frozen, 12″ stainless steel dildo up his ass?
No one. They are afraid. And of course, the reality is they’re on the gravy train, too.
Aloha, ksp…! Would be nice, however, I’d be worried Obummer would only nominate more ‘moderates’ and we wouldn’t gain any real movement to the Left…! 8-(
No point in even talking about Obama….as Jane says, he’s just not into us. But you can bombard your Representative with calls and emails … and get everyone in your district to do the same. I happen to like the voting record of my Rep., but I’ve let her know that she needs to step up….cuz if we don’t come out for Obama, we’re probably not coming out for her either.
I’m with ya on all this tuezday but people will call it socialism, which is fine with me, I don’t care what they call it, but the way the ptb are heading, people will glad to be made slaves, so long as they can eat… cuz
they already are wage-serfs!
I knew we were heading for this with the corporatization, the monetization of everything back in the ’80′s. But they were just getting started then.
So, I see it’s come to it’s greatest fruition. I refuse to be a slave.
Not happy being a wage-slave.
So now what?
agggh
time to go take the meds
“They are afraid. And of course, the reality is they’re on the gravy train, too.”
I think they are more on the gravy train (the take) than afraid. They share the same pie as the Rethugs.
Barney Frank is the most odious in my opinion.
I live in Kansas I don’t have any Dem reps
I think a secondary movement should be started to “sponsor” an unemployed person to go. God knows there are enough of them to shut down DC for months. I just started a new job after getting laid off in early April and my husband has been out of work since Nov. I can’t go for the duration, but I wouldn’t hesitate to help out someone who has the time but not the money.
This was written by an Egyptian from Gilboa prison…! Powerful read…
The rebellions of our peoples make us stronger…
Taxes = civility. Civility = civil rights.
And really, Obama will fight to get reelected, but he’s on record as stating he wouldn’t mind if he was held to only one term. So that’s probably why he just shrugs us off….
evening, firegourds
Here you go:
“If you need help with travel, that’s no reason not to go ahead and pledge to be there. We’re raising money and reaching out to organizations around the country. Local groups and this coalition will be helping with transportation. [..]”
West Coasties also sign up with the BackboneCampaign.Org as they are coordinating the free bus travel (if not super low cost as I have not seen any request for a fare) with October2011.Org.
Tell ya what That Guy. Boehner should be strung up by his jockstrap and proclaim his love for his mistress or his wife on CNN/FOX/MSNBC and then sent to Cleveland to do a life penance in cleaning hazmat sites for FREE. No Fee cleanup grunt.
Cantor is so freakin power mad I can’t believe he hasn’t slipped on his own banana yet but a couple choice looks into his background should find a thing or two – if the twit could just stay in one place… didn’t he go to some privileged backwoods Virginia prep school? I thought it was common knowledge they kept skeletons in closets down there as the one universal hobby that they all shared?
If someone didn’t want Obama reelected, he wouldn’t need 1 billion to pull it off.
I’d go in a heartbeat…! ;-)
this is nice. I have no reservations in going but I can’t make reservations in going. Makes me more inclined.
thanks mzchief!
Travel isn’t the problem, it’s the duration. Someone needs to feed and house these people. That’s what I think needs to be addressed.
hiya PPDCUS!
D00d, I met the Fire element the a few days ago (his entrance at time point 2:28): Dralion Trailer – Cirque du Soleil
Aloha, PPD…!
Bringing up Cirque isn’t just hijacking a thread, it’s a terrorist act. Big grin, on edit.
;-) ‘No Taxes Without Representation’
It’s got a certain ring to it, no?
yep,yep,yep. I’m speed-dialing Napolitano right now!
I think I’ve heard it once or twice before…! ;-)
Okay, I was being a Pollyanna about taxes. How about theoretically, taxes=civility.
hiya, KSP, mzchief, CT – We saw Dralion in San Jose about 10 years ago. However, my favorite Cirque is Quidam.
Just signed and bookmarked the site, MZ…! ;-)
I really did meet the Fire element. He’s totally hot (pun intended).
Quidam is special for me too. My artist husband had never heard of Cirque when I dragged him out to Quidam (this after trying to find traveling Cirque troupes worldwide-while we still had money). He spent the entire 45 minute ride home totally flabbergasted that something like Cirque was going on world wide and he had no clue. And it was sensational.
I send emails and shite to our senators here for a long time now.
Always get the same form letter back.
Had a decent rep til November. He retired his wife ran and lost to a nobody out-of-stater Republican with all the big money behind him. he thinks we want to shut down Planned Parenthood and all have the right to carry guns to church or down to wal-mart and maybe in school too.
I tried to tell him John Wayne was an actor but he didn’t seem to like that info. Acted like my long hair and beard made me look like a terra-ist even tho the hair and beard are blonde and the eyes atre blue as the sky. Jerkface looks like he’d have a blowout if he had to eat a single after dinner mint!
Oh, I don’t doubt it.
Kewl– I have already too. I figure we’ll do it just like this which goes 24/7 for several days every year (but in our case, we could go longer).
sorry folks I’m venting!
we just had a rainstorm here – “Imma gonna go ride my bike now”.
lovely thoughts and beautiful affirmations to you all!
Cirque’s like no other entertainment experience, and it’s everywhere now.
x1,000,000,0000,000,000,000,000….
No need to apologize, ksp…! Vent away…! ;-)
that’s alot of zerooooos, tuezzz
We certainly need all the prayers we can muster these daze…! 8-(
Unless you live in a tiny state, your Senators are never going to listen. I laugh that my daughter in Montana has two senators…..while the county I live in in California has more people than her whole state. But you might get some honest feedback from a Representative. I don’t get real feedback from my Representative, but I make sure to remind her regularly that if I don’t bother to go to the polls because of Obama, she’s going to get hurt, too. Oh, well. Looks like we are all fucked anyway. I don’t guess I know why I still bother.
Similarly, I converted a whole group of folks to opera when I took them to see Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 2004 film version of “Phantom of the Opera” (Part 1 begins here). Gerard Butler definitely wowed them among others in the cast.
Okay. I kinda can appreciate them but not through zeros.
I’m going to bed, as it’s late on the right coast.
I laugh at Rhode Island’s pair… Tho, Sheldon Whitehouse and Jack Reed are two of the better Senators…!
Sweet dreams, tuezday…!
They do that and more. This is part of how they run the event. :-)
Webber’s music is only a phantom of opera. For my money, Les Miserables is the best theatrical production since West Side Story.
I think I understand what our dear founders had in mind, but they clearly couldn’t imagine a California compared to an Alaska in terms of population. Oh well……….. Voters be damned.
Niters tuezday.
I hook them however I can. I figure they’ll get to Les Miserables sooner or later.
25th anniversary Les Mis concert version on PBS will knock them out, for sure.
time for some sleep — night all.
OT: Colbert had a good one. “I don’t trust children; they’re here to replace us.”
Almost as funny as the therapist who told my daughter and me….”God’s out to kill us all.” Maybe we’re just whackadoodles, but we laughed out loud and long.
Pleasant dreams, PPD…!
Where’s a good Rapture when ya need one…? ;-)
Ain’t it the truth. It’s latelate…or I wouldn’t mention this…..but how can people believe in a god who allows little children to be blown to smithereens by drones or starved in sorry African messes. “God has a plan” they say. Yeah, well, that’s one hellofa plan, I say. It’s all so silly, really.
Speaking of good Senators…! Bernie’s Way Forward…
At least we get a bit of Bon Iver on Colbert. I get bon-nothing from most of the folks running this country. But, whatever…..at least we did get some sun this afternoon. Complaining does nothing, I find.
{ LOLs } My turn to hit the hay, too. It was real. Niters and sleep well, all!
Sweet dreams, mz…!
I have no idea who Bon Iver is, but I like their music. And I realize that I never did pick up lyrics….missed ‘em in the 70s, 80s, 90s. But I always liked the music.
You are a good sport, CT, for keeping us company. You must get bored now and then.
And, I, for one, appreciate your efforts.
Nite, CT.
Hmmm, interesting I’ve never heard of ‘em… But, I’ve been to Calgary…! ;-)
Congrats on the Century mark….! I don’t get bored at all, tho I do get frustrated at how slow my Toobz loads at times….! Sweet dreams, Dearie…!
I suppose I shall head out too…! Mahalo for the great conversations, and, I bid ya’ll adieu…! Aloha Oe…! *g*
