Pam’s House Blend has long been one of the most compelling and influential sites in the blogosphere. Founder Pam Spaulding has used the platform not only to speak out herself as a woman of color and a member of the LGBT community, but also to play host to many other fine bloggers who have worked with her to build PHB into a robust activist community.
Pam was also one of my first friends when we were both posting at Daily Kos, before Firedoglake even existed.
So it gives me great pleasure to announce that Pam’s House Blend will be joining the Firedoglake family of blogs. I think it’s a perfect union — as the task of hosting a blog and performing the tech, legal and security work to keep it up and running becomes more and more complex and expensive, it will free Pam and her fellow bloggers to spend their time doing what they do best, which is blog. It also allows us to feature the work of a really amazing group of writers on FDL, and be tremendously enriched by the PHB community.
But there are several years worth of content archives, thousands of users and their diaries to move over from Pam’s House Blend to Firedoglake, and it’s going to be a bit of a heavy lift. There are some big costs associated with a move of this size and nature, and we really need your help to make it this transition a success.
So please welcome Pam and her fellow bloggers to the FDL family: Autumn Sandeen, Alvin McEwen, Scott Wooledge and Laurel Rameseyer.
Pam and I are at Netroots Nation today, and we’ll be making the announcement this morning on Liz Winsted’s show here in Minneapolis at 9:45 am ET.
We hope to make the move as quickly and efficiently as possible. Pam’s extensive archives are on both Blogger and Soapblox, so it’s going to be a bit of a challenge porting them over. But we’re really excited about the prospect of having the PHB bloggers and community here on FDL, so we’ll be working hard to make that happen as soon as we can.
If you haven’t checked out the Blend before, you’re in for a treat. Stop by and read what Pam wrote about the move.
Welcome to FDL, Pam’s House Blend!

About Firedoglake
welcome Pam, I’ve been starting to wonder if you are actually the only lesbian blogger who isn’t a middle age straight guy.
Woot! And Booyah! Welcome Pam and the crew! Let the ass kicking begin!
Sitting next to Pam at Netroots. She says: “I’ve been getting it all week.”
Thanks to Teddy for all his work making this happen. It’s such a great addition for us.
YEA!
Yay PHB!
yeah I suspect it is probably getting pretty old for her by now
maybe there should be a international mutual aid movement like Alcoholics Anonymous, where members start by saying:
Welcome, Pam and PHB bloggers.
Welcome Pam. I’ll look forward to reading your posts.
For her, probably.
But middle age straight guys think her lesbianism and all lesbianism is for them. These guys who’ve been “outed” aren’t going to be the last!
It’s the latest fashion.
Welcome! One less trip to make to read excellent work.
And as an older white guy, I wish I could say I’ve been getting it all week.
There’s always next week.
Het, Pam; I stop by your site some when I notice on blogrolls and er…remember to click.. It will be fine having you here. ;o)
Middle-aged straight WHITE male bloggers pretending to be lesbians (and in one case, “nonwhite” aka Middle Eastern lesbians). The layering of privilege is astounding.
And note, also, that McMaster (“Amina”) got his start on Graber’s (“Paula Brooks”) blog — and both “lesbians” specialized in postings that reinforced the American conventional wisdom about foreign policy and other issues (and attacked critics of that conventional wisdom). Coincidence?
Yes!
Welcome, Pam, and your wonderful team: Autumn Sandeen, Alvin McEwen, Scott Wooledge and Laurel Rameseyer.
Thanks, Teddy! And thank you, Pam, for joining us! Hope you and Jane are having fun up here in the not-currently-frozen north.
Pam Spaulding: Come on down!
Hey all you Peeps at NN:
Bring back souvenirs, yo!
That’s good news.
Makes me happy that I became a founding member. This is a good use for my limited politics/activism money.
Thank you Jane and Pam.
Welcome, Pam!
Namaste, Pam. Welcome to the Lake.
Happy to have Pam’s House Blend here! But oh my I am running out of room in my day for blogs. Retirement is supposed to involve ACTIVITIES and sitting at my laptop only partly qualifies!!
oh hell yes . . . a tremendously fitting addition to FDL
Welcome Pam and Crew !
Hoorray! More friends! Bigger tent! hoorray!
oooh yeah, I want that De-luxe Blindfold, Ball Gag, and Earplugs Set
wonder if it comes in Hopey-Changey™ Blue
Anything interesting at NN?
Welcome Pam, Autumn Sandeen, Alvin McEwen, Scott Wooledge and Laurel Rameseyer. This is great!
An OFA member tried to do a really dumb thing during the Jane/Aravosis/Choi/Felipe panel.
Such a natural fit, it seemed to me.
So glad this is happening!
Great idea, Jane & Teddy!
Welcome to Firedoglake, Pam! Your site will be a wonderful addition…
Here’s what PW is referring to:

Hey! This is a nice family place. Wait….what?
Welcome Pam and crew and thanks Jane and Teddy.
Great News! Fits perfectly. Welcome to all.
Welcome Pam. I hope you have a great transition to FDL.
As a reader of both sites I think it’s a great idea.
Some random moron on CNN saying stupid stuff about same-sex marriage, which should be dismissed as cute because he doesn’t seem to know what he’s saying is stupid.
What truly wonderful news -,welcome Pam and friends!
Heh, I saw that go down live. The OFA dude had handed this piece of paper over to Aravosis, then Choi. Trying to get an autograph? Couldn’t really tell.
But when OFA dude said he couldn’t support marriage equality, Choi said “You don’t support marriage equality?” and the guy affirmed, Choi didn’t hesitate a second and just ripped that paper and threw it at OFA dude.
It was excellent; uncompromising and right in his face. That’s just how it’s done.
I saw it live as well but couldn’t hear anything coming from the audience. Didn’t know what had transpired until I read the piece at HuffPo. There was some guy, I’m assuming with Free Speech TV, who was trying to repeat what audience members were saying but he missed that whole exchange.
See my comment at Swim, #8.
Welcome to Firedoglake! Glad to have you join us.
Welcome Pam & friends, glad to have you join us here.
Welcome Pam, Autumn, Alvin, Scott and Laurel! I’m delighted to have you here.
Thank y’all so much for the welcome of Pam and the baristas.
I’ve met Pam, so I can vouch for the fact that she’s a brick-and-mortar world, African-American, lesbian blogger.
Well, that is, if you take it for fact that I’m really a disabled, transgender, Persian Gulf War veteran who actually can vouch for Pam’s existence in the brick-and-mortar world. :P
Geez, those false lesbian bloggers have sure thrown a wrench into the credibility of LGBT bloggers, for sure. :/
Welcome to the Lake, Pam!
I don’t think that’s true anymore than the presence of false progressive bloggers and false progressive politicians have thrown a wrench into the credibility of FDL bloggers.
Welcome!
Welcome Pam and the blenders!
YEAH! Pam’s House Blend has been bringing it for years deep in the heart of Chapel Cool and I have always enjoyed the thought provoking coverage and discussions. Welcome Pam Spaulding, Autumn Sandeen, Alvin McEwen, Scott Wooledge and Laurel Rameseyee. You all rawk and now we are all rawk’n out together! W00T, W00000T!!

Just donated. Thank you Jane and FDL family for all that you do.
Sad – but LOL and a smile – filed under – yes, life is weird and cross filed under you can’t make this up.
Welcome!
You wouldn’t happen to be bringing any dry, flood-free backup nuclear reactor generators with you, would ya’? We seem to be remarkably short on those.
Having met both Pam and Autumn, I can say about them, like Popeye said about himself: “I yam what I yam.”
Welcome, friend.
Oh frabjous day! Two of my favorite blogs at one easy url!
Speaking as a middle-aged straight white guy I, for one, welcome our new LGBT overlords!
Thank you all who made this match. I can see only a win-win process here.
I selfishly admit, it will save me a few keystrokes every day. :-)
