What’s on your mind?
Very smooth, Suz!
How was your ‘day’?
hey newton — i had a blast!!! how was your day?
Very nice, ty.
I didn’t happen upon any meetups, but I survived…
it just wasn’t the same without ya there dood….
You guys eat well?
Aloha, Susie Q and LLN pups…! ;-)
Add me to the “Dammit, I wish I was there!” pile of folks. I just love PDX.
oh yeah (in best ferris bueller voice) the goose hollow inn has great food! i had veggie beef soup with homemade rye bread croutons
Well, Suz… What are ya authorized to say about it…? ;-)
Tuna on wheat down here…
So, tell all! (Or did I miss the synopsis on another thread?)
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
hey kelly — how’s denver?
here’s the pics i took from the meetup.. just uploaded them to my picasa album — haven’t put any names on them yet
hey dearie — you didn’t miss a thang :) how ya doing tonight?
Hello Suzanne and everyone. Just wanted to say again how nice it was to meet you and the other pups today in person–we had a great time. This was my first FDL meetup, and if you ever have the opportunity to organize one or attend one, I highly recommend it! And now I am off for a late bite of dinner, so goodnight all!
Li’l stash o’rain earlier, prolly just hurled tornados at KS, actually.
How as the meetup? SPILL YOUR GUTS! LOL!
teddy and patrick were there as was votus and mr votus, greenwarrior, starbuck and his so, cocktailhag, raven333, a friend of starbuck’s named scott, mzchief, and me… i think i got everyone
Doing great….but I sure would have loved to have been in Portland for the meet up.
Another dreary day here…! Was the weather gods kind to the pups…? ;-)
hey votus — it was great to have a face to go with your fonts and i really enjoyed our chat. g’nite
teddy brought books to give out — i forgot my forking bag of books but i did remember to bring the camera :)
evening, Suzzzz … netrootsfiredawgs
hey ppd — how was your day?
ok, i just put captions on the pictures
Hey Kelly, I’m still meaning to call you about the scorecards. It’s been a crazy couple of days. To top it all off, the spousal unit has not 1 but 2 interviews tomorrow. He’s been unemployed since early November and has had no “bites” until the last couple of days.
I’m jealous that I didn’t get to go to PDX for the meeting. Do tell all about it.
we had a great time chatting about all sortsa things and time went by so fast – before i knew it, it was 4pm and i had to head to jens to get my jujube fix
hey tuezday, how ya doing tonight?
busy day here — got alot done. Hope the FDL meet up was great.
it was a blast ppd — restaurant food instead of nahant’s cooking but still good food and a good time was had by all
round about midnight
I’m peachy but had a strange thing happen, don’t know if I want to drag down the conversation with it.
starbuck took a lot more pictures than i did — he should have those pix available soon from what he said during the meetup
strange as in twilight zone strange or strange as in not what you expected
i was afk all day — did i miss anything?
Suz, how was your baby girl’s baby girl?
Twilight zone strange. An acquaintance, who I’ve been accusing of committing slow suicide by refusing to manage her diabetes, coded yesterday for 16 minutes, and is now probably the next Terry Schiavo.
*heh* I suppose MZchief was ‘gun shy’…! ;-)
You have my #, yes? Otherwise lemme know, and I’ll put up me email again.
COCKTAILHAG! Where’s his pic?
Yeah, where’s Mzzy? She’s so damn cute.
she is so flipping cute! i hope to have pix of her up at my blog later tonight or tomorrow
Looks like a good time. Wish I had been there. Oh, and you all seem to be OLD. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Everyone besides me seems to be. And getting more so all the time.
shit.. that’s terrible tuezday
Yes, I’ve got your number. I will call. Just been strange around here for a couple of days.
no cocktailhag pics on my camera :( :( :(
cocktailhag is a hoot!!!
hey dave — how ya doing tonight?
starbuck took pics of everyone… i was sorta hit and miss *head hanging in shame*
I is otay. I managed to get to yoga for the first time in a month. Wasn’t having any luck getting to sleep (the dog is restless), so I thought I would drop in.
why is the dog restless? token got wore out at doggie day care while i was in pdx and jen’s. he’s been snoozing at my feet since we got home
I’m still processing that comment.
Yes, he IS!
Gawd-dangit sure wish I could been there to hug each and every one-a-ya, and bought a round. SMOOCHES!
*heh* I’m considered one of the young’uns in these here parts…! You get used to it…! ;-)
you gotta come out to pdx and we will do another one
greenwarrior visiting pdx was the motivation for this one
sounds wonderful — how many showed up?
Hard to say. She won’t drop off to sleep, and every time I roll over she pounces on me. Generally that’s when the moon is out, but it’s cloudy and breezy tonight.
I thought I could catch a whiff of smoke earlier. I’m not sure where the Arizona fire is, it must be further south, because I haven’t seen any signs or smells of smoke.
Dayam kids got no manners….
ha — we talked about you at the meetup and how you are among the younger of the lln peeps
12 i think…. we pulled two tables together — we were out on the deck instead of inside
That totally sucks, tuezday…! 8-(
I hate to say it but that was my first thought too….
And my husband and I are probably about the same age as everyone at the meeting.
I blame it on “rock” radio. We’re still listening to the same music we listened to as kids, so we’ve forgotten we’ve aged.
What, are you 12? :)
baby girl (my youngest daughter) is gonna drive from cortez co to st george utah tomorrow to go visit her dad for father’s day. she said she was going to check to make sure there were no road closures along her route but i think the fire is further south than that route.
Ain’t that the truth?! *g*
I hope it wasn’t too bad a raking…! ;-)
it wasn’t but we all had a good laugh about how you are so young — what are ya, 47?
An FDL apostles meet up!
Alright, youngster…! No sassing your elders…! ;-)
I’m about the age (I turned 50 three weeks ago) that I remember my parents being (my dad was 43 when I was born). They were OLD. I grew up around old people, one set of grandparents lived in town and survived until I was in high school. My parents were the young kids in the neighborhood.
They couldn’t climb stairs because of their blood pressure. They never wanted to do anything because they thought they were too old. At 50.
Today, even 70 year olds seem to be pretty active and involved. Some of that is medication, I suppose. I think a lot more is attitude. People used to will themselves old, now they will themselves young.
Bizzy, bizzy, bizzy.
my oldest daughter (jen) calls me a 17 year old trapped in an old woman’s body. tis a fairly accurate description — i think of myself as a lot younger than 56… until i see a picture of me.
hey ofg — how ya doing tonight dood?
I’m 49! If you’re 47, mind your sass, young’n!
That’s a long drive. I used to make it fairly often. There’s construction on 491 just outside of Cortez, but only 10 minutes worth. Beyond that, who knows? No fires that I know of. I assume she is going up through Moab and to I-70 and down. Otherwise there really isn’t a road. I wouldn’t swing south through New Mexico and Arizona (I did that route once, it’s long and ugly).
*sheesh* Not even…! I hit 45 in August…! ;-)
You betcha! It’s different now. I spent yesterday with my 93 year old dad, running errands, taking him to a couple of doctor visits as he develops future-need medical resources in his new area. Then planned to visit my daughter and her family. Age is wherever you find yourself….but it’s still just a number. Attitude, baby, attitude.
Oh snap…! My bad…! *g*
“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter”__Mark Twain
i think she’s taking 160 down into az and then back north on 89 at tuba city to page and then 389 to colorado city to 15 near hurricane
still wet behind the ears
hey robert — how was your day?
Yuck. That route sux. Hope her car is in good repair and she had plenty of sleep the night before.
Tired. Delivered a 160,000 lb compressor to Big Piney, WY from
Midland, TX. Oh, there’s not a pine tree anywhere around Big Piney.
In Laramie right now for the night.
Tuba City to Page is the Navajo reservation, and we gave them really crap land.
she’s gone that way before — she was in montana last week for a funeral and blew her water pump and thermostat — the car is fixed and is running like a champ. she said when she made that same drive last year it took about 7 hours.
Cool, scattered rain showers.
I’ve been watching a horror/sci-fi marathon on Turner Classic Movies:
ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN (1958)
KING OF THE DUPLICATORS (1968)
VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS (1965)
QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE (1958)
MARS NEEDS WOMEN (1968)
MANSTER, THE (1962)
KILLER SHREWS, THE (1959)
yikes! how’s laramie?
What’s she doing in Cortez?
last year when she made that same trek she said it was pretty desolate and not a lotta there there
the one i refuse to watch is that dayam giant ant movie…. still gives me shrudders when i think of it.. that noise *’nother shrudder*
wasn’t that one called ‘them’?
she interning at a missionary outreach that works with native women who have substance abuse problems.
Yup. Easy to fall asleep at the wheel. Not as bad as Nevada (nothing is, except maybe north Texas, where I’ve never been).
That was run on TCM last thurday night. James Arness played in it, right before he signed on to do Gunsmoke….
hiya CT, how’re the strangers in paradise?
She probably has plenty of work, then. Lots of substance abuse on the Rez.
that stretch of 80 between reno and st lake city is pretty bad from what i remember…. nothing to see to keep ya alert
happy lucky 100 dave!!!
I’ll never forget the drive my brother and I used to make across west Texas. The saying was: The sun is riz; the sun is set; and here we is in Texas yet.”
100 is rapidly approaching, Suz…!
lulu’s back in town
That’s what I was thinking of. Also US-50 in the south. “Next services 120 miles”.
I was driving 80 and getting low on gas, saw a sign, so I exited. The pavement immediately was falling apart and weeds growing through it. I went a little further and there were a couple of guys in fatigues walking along. I got to the “station”, there were a bunch of wrecked cars lying around and someone had written “HELP” in the dust on one window. I decided I would take my chances and got back on the interstate. I kept expecting some 50 foot cockroach to come over the hills at me any minute.
Ya know my toobz totally sux today…! 8-(
I shall bid ya’ll an early fond adieu…! Aloha Oe…! *g*
Ha! I like it!
fondu……thanks, CT, I love fondu. Enjoy the sleep of the righteous!
there was a novel i read, maybe steven king or dean koontz about folks on that stretch in nevada that saw something they were not supposed to see and the gov’t brainwashed them. the premise of the novel was the brainwashing was starting to wear off and they all returned to that same stretch to find out what happened and why. every time i think of driving through nevada i think of that novel — sure wish i could remember the name of it
hope your tubes improve tut — g’nite
Hey, maybe that’s what happened to me!
iirc, they had seen an alien spaceship land while all were staying at the same no-tell motel alongside the freeway. the descriptions were of broken asphalt, grass growing in the cracks, etc — just like your comment.
And in those novels, one didn’t really think the govt would actually, really do you any harm. Nowadays, not so much. My, my, how times have “advanced.” Lookin’ forward, ya know.
No spaceships, not that I recall, anyway. Of course, that would be the whole brainwashing thing, wouldn’t it? Maybe they erased the part where I was young and rich and good-looking…
no kidding — it was a shocker that it was the gov’t who did this to these witnesses.. nowadays, it would not be so much of a shock. i think it was written back in the 80′s or 90′s….
OT: I’ve gotten all kinds of Democratic literature recently, tho I’ve never been a Democrat. Got a letter from Michelle Obama today….another fundraising piece of crap. I did my ususal. Wrote my thoughts all over the letter and sent everything back in the postage paid envelope. Who in the hell do they think I am?
The Robert likes Rotters, an epic 450 pages that is as suspenseful and masterfully told as it is gruesome and terrifying. Danial Kraus conveys the full horror and beauty of our bodies’ inevitable return to the soil without playing for cheap thrills or easy gross-outs in the midst of liquefying corpses and maggoty dirt.”
· “Daniel Kraus’s young adult novel Rotters tells the unlikely story of Joey Crouch, a 16 year old boy from Chicago whose mother is killed by a bus; Joey is sent to live with his mysterious father in small-town Iowa, and that’s when things get weird. Joey’s father is taciturn and smells bad….”
The Sweety bought it for me for Father’s Day. Can’t wait for it to come in the mail….

Prez O is trying to raise a billion bucks. That’s a whole lot of fundraising letters. And selling out to big biz. $20 here, $1,000,000 there, pretty soon your talking about real money.
i used to read a lot of king and koontz… now, it seems like i’m only reading non-fiction political books and the occasional janet evanovich stephanie plum novel
“…taciturn and smells bad…”
Wow, now there’s a statement!
I’m hoping no one is describing me that way just now.
Well, I’m going to give sleep another try. The dog has been sleeping quietly all the time I’ve been up, so she’s probably ready to go again.
Toodle-pip, peeps. Sleep well.
And the Big O is getting a Big O from me and mine! I’m wondering if they are smart enough to delete my name from their lists. So far I’ve had a really good time venting all over their fundraising missives. I know that my writing there is no more important than my vote, but it actually feels better these days to let them pay the postage. My vote sure-as-hell doesn’t count for anything.
And the father turns out to be a grave robber, too….
hence the smell…
I wonder what a kid gets a grave robbing dad for Father’s Day?
kings’ pet semetary book
I was thinking more like a vanity license plate for his back hoe: GRVROBERT
sorry to be bailing so early tonight peeps — i was up way before the crack of noon today and it has caught up with me

Happy dreams, Suzanne, and thanks for all you do.
