Thanks, BT. That fiscal conservatism is another version of the right’s usual hypocrisy. As you watch the House cutting WIC, while insisting that we’re broke, don’t forget the same mouths are extolling the benefits of giving more cuts to the corporations that are sitting on at least a trillion dollars in reserves.
Good morning BT and Ruth,
Not a lot of good news all around lately.
Seeing Obama defy Congress on the War Powers is really STUPID. I should have known, if this had happend during Bush/Cheney, no one would be suprised but I have to admit, Obama surprised me a little with his defiance. Too bad he is not this defiant toward Congress in the debt ceiling discussion, war on women, planned parenthood, supporting Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security…Damn, I am really angry this morning and that is not good at my age.
Good morning. Congrats on going front page. Excellent diary.
Thanks for the post, BT.
Good Morning, Dawgs
WRT the last link and the Spelling mansion. What a coincidence! I too have a flower cutting room, silver storage room (thought not temperature controled) and a wine tasting room. It’s my kitchen, ha. You all can call me demi spelling from now on.
Me too, AppleCanyon2. I think I will go make breakfast and have another cup of tea.
However, tbogg’s headline today makes me laugh!
Hicks Nix Quick Dick Pix Flick
Actually, I have two wine tasting rooms during the summer: my screened porch and my great room with its comfy leather chair!
Thanks. This is a time of so much happening, the front page is pretty crowded, so it’s a rarer event now.
spelling of demi is changed? (jest) Please, I have a fainting room, in this heat, it’s anywhere in the front of the house.
Yes, let me add my congrats. It was excellent!
don’t forget Van Jones, Shirley Sherrod, the public option, EFCA, the list goes on and on and on.
Some good news for a change.
Morning BT & Firepups…
and there is a “Gift Wrapping” room of 3,000 sq. ft.. This is what all Americans should aspire to.
Thanks. Sometimes what congress is up to is worth a look, though it’s a horrible experience listening to lies.
please, respect us older folks’ temperaments, this is overburdening.
Good morning and thanks for the picker-upper this morning after my anger post.
Supposed to be sunshine today and high 70′s for a change here.
Going to my daughter’s for Father’s Day in Michigan so I will be experiencing your type of weather pattern.
What I find really interesting about the Gifford story is that the media is being far too timid in the handling of this story. It is OK for us to know about the sexual escapades of a Congressman from New York, it is OK for us to show lewd photos of pretty much everyone and anyone, but in case of Gabby Gifford, no.. we shall not show the extent of her injuries. All photos must be carefully processed, careful not to show the area of the wound.
Such a double standard in this society.
I aspire to mediocrity. (and learning to spell words correctly)
Good times. happy dad-ness.
I am headed for Indianapolis for a Saturday dance recital. We just had more rain, and the last two days haven’t climbed out of the low 70s, but by Monday it will be almost 90º again.
Ah ha. And, the bowling alley is the hall that leads to the back bedrooms.
I’m in agreement with you and Apple that there’s too much bad news. Anger is not good for any age, I think.
I worked at the Annual MEND Conference on Poverty yesterday. Long, hard day, but I got to hear Father Greg Boyle speak. And, my city councilman, Richard Alarcon spoke too, telling us that LA City Hall just contracted with Boyle’s Homeboy Industries to run their cafeteria.
So, there are good stories out there. You just have to look really hard.
At least one of the photos shows the left side of her skull, which is where she was shot.
I don’t want to see the Weinis OR Gabby’s wound.
This is a complete sellout to the MIC.
You are so right on the list going on and on, but then if I could think of all the things, I would be hogging this thread.
Disclaimer, I have “sometimers” not quite “alltimers” in the memory department. This is a joke before anyone jumps on me, Alzheimers is a deadly serious malady and I would not joke about anyone afflicted with it.
That’s twice the size of my entire house. We’re supposed to wrap gifts? Who knew?
The “baby” eaglets are getting ready to fledge, too. It is amazing to see how they’ve changed over the weeks. That’s happy news.
I could probably bowl in my basement, but I don’t have a bowling ball and most of the basement is carpeted. And I wasn’t a good bowler even when I owned a ball. LOL.
EDIT: I have no idea how long a bowling alley is.
With strong shoulders and the nose to the grind stone every American can live in a modern day Versailles. That’s the promise of unregulated free market crony capitalism.
Thank you Ruth.
msmolly, have a safe trip.
My trusty little PT Cruiser just about drives itself to Indianapolis!
‘sallright, I have my fainting room.
Mornin’, BT, pups
So, are these in-debt-up-to-their-eyeballs freshmen the same ones comparing the federal budget to household budgets? Pot, meet kettle.
and an inherited fortune.
even when I owned a ball
Hey! I’ve been told this is a family friendly site, Molly.
I’ve never owned one. I was just kidding about the hallway.
I have been having the same outlook; thinking yesterday I would give up the thread, as if that would help. And going to 103 here today; I should be fried by afternoon. Good Morning All…stay cool.
Fiscal conservatism, GOP-style.
No worries. A few electronic transfers into off-shore, numbered accounts and “Poof!”… Debt problems magically disappear. Of course we can’t actually see that fact, but we should assume the proof exists. (No, I’m not a conspiracy crank. Just a realist. These banks exist. Multi-national corporations are just that: Multinational. Influence-pedaling exists.)
Ain’t takin’ no rocket scientist to put that shit together, yo…
I love that car style, it kind of goes back to my earlier years. Ah, memories.
And here, too. Don’t give up, it helps to discuss our rattled world.
Now, I must get out before the heat sets in. Thanks for good company.
Get your jollies with entry/exit wound photos, do ya?
If you need a lift, check out what Father Greg Boyle is doing with gang members. It’ll make your day. Promise.
It’s the p p power of love.
Please do not give up the thread, your input is soooooo important and you make too much sense for us not to have you here.
I got on the site Christmas Day in 2005 and it helped me through the dark years that was known as Bush/Cheney.
Where in Michigan is your son? I spent much of my adult life in Michigan.
Oh, mine was red!! Bowling was a couples event when I was in my late 20s and early 30s.
Just north of Grand Rapids in a little town called Alta.
They have a lake cottage farther north and that is where we are going to spend the weekend.
Democrats to the rescue!
Weiner was getting in the way of their message that spending must be cut — in a recession.
Wow, thanks for the kindness and encouragement….I may complain more often. ;) I really should avoid the Spellman story…Didn’t someone say Let them eat cake….I could go live in one of the rooms for the help…Good address, I guess,
That sounds like a lovely way to spend Father’s Day. Good for you.
Ian Masters covering the latest Planned Parenthood domino to fall. Recorded yesterday afternoon.
These wingnuts are completely and utterly insane.
Since the House Vichycrats can’t distinguish themselves from the Regressives in any other meaningful way they’ll show us that they can deal with juvenile minds differently. Whoopty fuckin’ doo.
I know where Alta is. I lived in Grand Rapids for 8 years! Small world!
Hope you have a great Father’s Day. Weather should be good, I think.
Digby: I suppose that could just be a bump in the road, but it feels more like a huge, gaping sinkhole to me.
Next R ad: “I am not a huge gaping sinkhole. I am a person.” /s
It is indeed a small world.
Emptywheel just moved there a few months ago.
demi, thank you for the wishes too.
Better to light a candle, than curse the darkness.
I hope everyone has a good day. I’m off to save the world. That’s a joke.
“I am not a huge gaping sinkhole. I am a person a huge gaping asshole.”
Fixed it for ya.
Great…tell us how it goes….Cheers.
Have a great day.
I too am off to finish work before leaving.
Happy Father’s Day everyone.
And Im a corporation…..
Yep. And paid to be one on t.v.
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.

Morning SoDrag. Saw you had some fairly high temps yesterday. Tigers OK with that or did they go all sleep all day?
Damn, almost forgot this:
WikiLeaks witness takes the Fifth
That David House wasn’t threatened with a contempt ruling tells me they were on a fishing expedition and trying to intimidate him. Assholes.
Good on you, David.
Slept all day, drank a lot of water. It was brutal here. Rained about 11pm, cooled the place right down. Thanks for asking.
Just for the record…I do not comment every day but I do swim here every day often in lurk mode.
Great comments this AM. Thanks for the links BT.
Glad you’ll stay around RevBev and that a morning swim helps.
Ruth, great post yesterday.
Comment more often, klynn! We enjoy all of the swimmers!
Thanks….I think we have missed you for awhile.
Gosh, thanks msmolly and RevBev!
Well, son-of-klynn (oldest son who has posted on FDL) graduated from high school and it has been a busy Spring-to-Summer!
I missed about two weeks of FDL reading because it was so crazy. Took one night to catch up on all my FDL reading and discovered that stories FDL was breaking during the two weeks I missed, were just hitting the MSM in a diluted form. No surprise for me to discover this!
Congratulations for you and son….2 weeks, that’s almost an O/D. Welcome back, anyway;)
