Los Lonely Boys — Senorita.
What’s on your mind? I’m thinking about the FDL Meetup this Thursday in Portland, OR (details in the comments).
Oh, this is good! Hey Suz, how goes?
hey newton — glad ya like it — how was your day today?
Am on one of those “overslept” jags. Still in the process of reclaiming my stamina (takes a long time at my age, courtesy of theme on last thread).
So I sleep a lot: at night and naps during daze.
Then, alla sudden, like tonight, I’m bright eyed & bushy-tailed long past my usual hours.
Fun to share Lisa D’s 50th just now. FDL is such a nice place to hang out.
Nice, we are at 100% humidity – another week or so of this, and the Peninsula will be broken in for the summer.
hey ecahn — tis always a pleasure to see your fonts :) how was your day?
hey dearie — how’s the south central ca coast tonight?
100% humidity as in raining?
Reading another page turner on Vietnam (maybe around my sixth). Can’t wait til I get to the end & find out how it turns out.
100% humidity as in muggy as Hell, and prone to seismic activity.
Hey, eCAHN, we must be just old enough to ‘get’ that one disposes of stuff one should dispose of. I’m still at it! And, um, I’ll take a late night nip of red wine if you’ve got it. Enjoying the lake tonight.
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…! Great clip, Suz…! *g*
which one this time? i just started Troublemaker: A Memoir from the front lines of the 60′s by bill zimmerman — he’s gonna be here for book salon on the 26th
My portion of the coast gets fog a lot! But today was sunny….very nice. I moved my dad down from Los Gatos and he’s finding the weather in Santa Barbara to be less than what he had up north. We’ve done Gray May and now we are into June Gloom. I’m ready for some warmth and sunshine.
*shrudder* forking earthquake weather… *another shrudder*
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? glad ya like it — llb are a great band…
Hallo peeps – my regular account has some difficulties, which the tech crew is working on.
Meanwhile here I am! BWAHAHA!
i had one day of glorious sunshine saturday. been overcast with bands of showers moving through since then. our june gloom :(
hey kelly — how’s denver tonight?
Want weird weather, central Florida is dry. Humidity today, and most days recently, under 50%.
hey tuezday — how ya doing tonight?
I’m peachy. How about you?
Ooh, that sounds like it’s gonna be an awesome Book Salon…! Btw, Suz, I’m not so jealous anymore about your Meetup…! Today, under Kelly’s adept ministrations, I got to ‘hear’ some of the fantabulous pups…! Jane and Lt. Choi even…! *g*
Decent Interval by Frank Snepp. Another first person account, by the #2 CIA agent in Saigon during the last 2 years (and a 2 year stint earlier). Was, like current whistleblowers, completely vilified by power structure, so made no money on book nor 25th Ann edition, one I’m reading, even though he revealed no secruds. And barely escaped imprisonment.
Turns out the other books I’ve read on the subject were mostly about the earlier years, and my knowledge of what happened during & after the end is a book I’ve been looking for for years. So this is just the ticket.
And a real page turner.
i’m doing ok. looking forward to the meetup in portland thursday (and going to see my granddaughter afterwards).
the fdl meetup is going to be held at the Goose Hollow Inn at 2pm Thursday June 26th.
We had a TERRIFIC meeting today amongst the FDL members who signed up to work on the Congressional Scorecard.
Jane was on, on the first part, with Dan Choi and David House, in the car.
It was a productive meeting, I’ll say.
Happy Day here. :)
yanno tut, i think you could find other pups for a hawaii meetup — just gotta figure out what island to have it on…. i’ve made several calls to folks in hawaii when i was calling members
Speaking of meet ups, is anyone else so mad as to finally consider going to DC in Oct for the protest? I look at it as my way of telling Obama to fuck off.
wow, how forking kewl kelly!!! tut just sang your praises :)
After a harsh winter & a bummer spring, we’ve had some hot stuff, some spectacular days, and now back to kewl. Which is just fine.
Don’t want to acquire rep of always complaining about weather. Though global warming (or weirding) might provide all the excuse I need.
a page turner eh? is he revealing stuff you were unaware of?
the weather has gotten weirder and storms are stronger. now that we are at the end of tornado season, its the start of the hurricane season.
Hey can you post the sign up info for the Congressional scorecard again. I meant to do it last time but the info fell off the page into oblivion before I got a chance.
Admittedly, aside from research, I’m not sure I have many skills to offer.
Evening, Suz and hello fellow pups.
llb and willie
hey past — how ya doing tonight?
llb & carlos
Just gonna say something here:
You know we’ve been working Belch’s mom, Judy, out of physical rehab to get her home to her assisted living with her husband.
Who KNEW that 80 yr olds get USED to new living conditions so quickly; SHE doesn’t want to live with “that old man” anymore, and HE, when told Judy was coming home first responded “WHAT?”
Tomorrow is the day we put them back together, and I am all “O my gawd..,”
Just checking in for any updates to Thursday’s meet-up.
I’ve been spending this evening going through some old negatives from 40+ years ago. Some are nice, some ghastly!
Those are going into the garbage bin.
OTOH, I managed to make a dynamite print of flowers in my back yard.
I don’t seem to have much to say right now. Maybe save it for Thursday!
evening, Suzzzz, firegodzzz
oh my stars kelly
hey starbuck — how ya doing tonight?
hey ppd — how was your day?
Mary and I, are delving into the polling #’s on the Banksters getting off scot-free to date…! ;-)
I don’t want to be insensitive, but you do know STDs are rampant in nursing homes?
Yes, bc I never knew exactly what happened at the end, esp after the “peace” talks that Kissinger engineered in Paris in 1973.
Short version: Like Afghanistan, the U.S. version was too expensive for locals to take over. Not only that, but locals (Thieu, U.S. puppet) according to Snepp, had become so dependent on U.S. that any withdrawal of support completely demoralized them.
So Watergate, Nixon resignation, congress taking more control of fiscal issues (how quaint is that by today’s standards) made SVN powerless against NVN.
On top of all that, Scoop Jackson (merember the neocons) put amendment on U.S.-Soviet trade deal that required better treatment of Soviet Jews. As a result, Soviets, in a pique, renewed military support for NVN.
So even in 1975, neocons worked for the destruction of the U.S.
WANS (We are not surprised.)
Doing well. Twas a beautiful day here, 77 and sunny. Have started a small raised bed again this year, lettuce is doing great with all our rain & cooler weather, herbs are doing good. the two tomato plants I planted almost 2 weeks ago are starting to get some blossoms. Can’t wait to have some tasty tomatoes!
Cool, you want in? Email me at kelly1.canfield AT gmail DOT com.
Need help in looking up speeches and such as regards multiple congresscritters. We’re looking to make “weasel weights” you know, did they walk the talk, and such.
Looking for speeches and youtubes that support, or impeach, those crtitters.
geez…. i knew it was a clusterfuck but dang….
Yeah, Stupid Transitional Days.
Yah, me too. But never knew the details of it. Which is why Snepp’s book is sooooo important.
still too forking wet to plant — but it hopefully is drying out — the ‘lawn’ got weedwacked last week and the driveway guy is coming out this week to bid work on the gravel driveway — its got a lot of high and low spots and most of the gravel is gone.
llb does the doors
You’ve got mail.
Waaaay busy over the past few days — how’s everything up north?
overcast and damp… weather dood says showers tomorrow morning and overcast most of the day. again.
might, repeat might see the sun fri. maybe
Oh, gotta tell my drywave tale.
March 2010: last snow of season, wet & heavy on top of thawed ground, plow rolls up old driveway like threadbare carpet.
Driveway already in bad shape for years, becomes high priority.
Begging & pleading for 6 months for contractor to come to do the job.
Finally shows up just before winter.
Does a fabulous job.
Best project I’ve ever done around the house.
its been rough for the past couple years but this winter really took a tole on it. ya gotta go real slow and take just the right path to avoid high centering in two spots.
Kelly! OMG indeed :-/
Getting closey eyes, so gnite all.
Sounds expensve, is that something that you have to pay for? IIRC I thought you were renting your present place, wouldn’t the landlord be responsible (maybe partly)?
Where I grew up, mom & dad’s place had a gravel driveway over 250 feet long; they had to renew the gravel about every 5 or 6 years, it would eventually sink & disappear. As I recall it was pretty expensive even back then.
hey sunny — how ya doing tonight?
I’ll call tomorrow. Since I now work nights and you’re in the mountains, it should be in a mutually acceptable time frame.
Meaning, I don’t do mornings.
keep going back
tis the landlord taking care of it. they came out last week and their van was really bouncing in those two trouble spots — she wrote me this week and gave me a heads up the guy would be out taking measurements etc. i’ve not measured how long the driveway is but its pretty forking long to my city eyes :) the house sits on 4 acres
I spent most of Sat & Sun walking in our local ACS Relay for Life, then yesterday & today working with my sister on family business.
how cool ppd — did you have a lot of sponsors?
llb does srv
Well, what’s going to happen is that the one who requires the most care (Judy) is going to create the situation to leave the couple-arrangements we’ve been able to make for them to live together.
Somehow, we kids have always wanted them to be together, more than they have, as their age and needs for service increase.
Medicare and Medicaid also demand that they can’t live together, if their help needs are really different; and I expect that, yep, Judy will fulfill the requirements to live elsewhere than her husband.
Frankly, just found out today, she has a UTI; again. Same condition that lead to her original kidney infection.
Candidly, I’m bringing the camera to tomorrow’s discharge; I don’t think she should be released if it’s known she has a UTI again.
geez kelly.. why the hell are they discharging her if she has another uti?
Go The FuckTo Sleep
Yeah, sounds like a long driveway, good that the landlord takes care of it.
I still have fond (not) memories of me & my brother shoveling the drive at night after a lake-effect snowstorm, just so my dad could get in (he worked nights and would get home about 2 in the morning). It was a very rare occasion that dad could afford to have it plowed.
hahahaha jen said that jujube is starting to sleep through the night.. at 9 weeks, that’s early. jen didn’t sleep through the night until she was 4 months old
No, but with what we’ve been dealing with over the past two years, it was important for me to be there
luckily, we don’t get a lot of snow here on the coast… when it snows it usually is gone in a day or two. if push comes to shove, i could put the chains on and head down the driveway but my motto is if there is snow, i’m not driving.
absolutely. i have several friends from the pd who still do relay for life — what matters is them doing it, not who has the most sponsors.
Doing fine thanks.. At vet’s suggestion, put the nutso cat on a “natural” tranquilizer, Composure.
To my surprise, the stuff seems to be helping. If it didn’t smell like spoiled anchovy, I might give it a whirl myownself *g*
1- you’re right.
2- It’s all about billing codes. In the current system, she has met the ortho/occupational rehab max for Medicare (days count, she’s at 80), and must leave that rehab facility
You can’t shop for this shit for old folks, no matter WHAT AGE you start at over 63. You can’t. Just dealing with HOW IT IS RIGHT NOW is one thing, and it’s hard.
Ryan plan? No fucking way. No way. Not at all.
From the May 29, 2010 OpedEd article The Kennedy Effect:
In 1933, Major General Smedley Butler, at the time of his death the most decorated Marine in U.S. history, author of the 1935 book War is a Racket, in which he described the workings of the military-industrial complex, testified before a congressional committee of being approached by wealthy industrialists and pressured to take command of a a private army of 500,000 ex-soldiers dedicated to a coup to overthrow President Franklin D. Rooselvelt. The Business Plot, or Plot Against FDR, or White House Putsch are names historians have identified this conspiracy by. Though ridiculed by the Great Depression-era media (so like our current Great Resession media) the congressional committee declared that there was no question that the attempts were discussed, were planned, and might have been placed in execution when and if the financial backers deemed it expedient.
What those wealthy industrialists learned was: (1) their wealth and power shielded them from ever being punished even for treason and (2) to nevertheless avoid a presumtion an heroic and prominent (though outside their privileged class) military man would betray his country for their interests.
No more bold coups. Bribes were cheaper, but a much slower and tedious approach to achieve over years what they had failed to accomplish in the year of 1933. They patiently began their silent coup through seeking, contributing to and promoting their own candidates and appointments to all three branches of the federal government. First patriotism was abducted and redefined through the invention of a new enemy: Communism, which they milked for all the wealth-building wars (Korea, Vietnam, and the covert Congo, Nicaragua, El Salvador, etc.). By the Reagan-era, they had even kidnapped and redefined Jesus Christ (Ayn Rand’s Immaculate Conception) to revive and entrench the failed army of 1933 throughout Washington D.C. under their syndicated dictatorship by 1983.

Finally got that html routine down, again! If I could only remember!
What asshole invented that? Just to annoy older folks, I suppose! But url’s are getting longer, so I have to master the stuff.
your elderly parents, Kelly?
sweet sunny… having nutso cat calmer has got to be a win win. the smell tho (shrudder) double yuck
holy shit kelly — that is just so forking wrong on so many forking levels…
she’s at max so she goes come hell or high water *shaking head*
hey robert — how’s soPA tonight?
That’s in that link as well. The third video is the most startling. I knew some of it some time ago but this!
What a mess. ((( ))) to all.
Currently 54 degrees and falling to 48….
My partner, Chris’s (Belch).
My mother has passed. My dad is independent, another story for another time.
These that I’m talking about, are Nebraska Farm folk who have been screwed over, in more ways than one.
that 48 will be prime sleeping temp — still 55 up here
It’s the aggregate results that count, Suzzz. RFL is a huge event in our area. Friends of mine sponsor a booth & team, so I walk with them.
Makes looking forward to 80 NOT!
Only 6 more years to go….literally and figuratively!
Nebraska is a distance from where you live, isn’t it? Travel time makes advocacy a challenge.
Gonna sign off for the night
Gotta go – need to go downstairs and power down.
But in the meantime, forget the Sionne Zion business, and just listen to this song.
Fly, thoughts, on wings of gold…
happy lucky 100 starbuck!!!
Kept you away from it!
Thanks, and with that, I am leaving.
I’m out too. Thanks for the hospitality suz.
Have to say G’nite Suz, eyes are getting heavy. Good nite, pups.
guess i’ll join the exodus… g’nite all and thank you for letting me hang out with ya tonight
…and now the long gap before Attaturk’s graveyard shift…
