Dang it…my brain has been poisoned – I instantly thought of stoopid J O’Keefe’s attempted con of the CNN reporter instead of hearing the song in my head….
How are things, Suze? Warmer yet?
I gotta go, actually – day 2 tomorrow of 3 days of training for a new temp gig. Spent evening frantically catching up on all political news missed – Christie grudgingly agrees to pay for copter ride, too many idjits still talking about Weiner’s possible, um, weiner, the Mittster announces but Caribou Barbie dumps him from the front page…wait, what am I missing while at work??
sunshine and showers today. weather dood says instant summer is arriving sat and has forecast temps in the 80-85 range for both sat and sun. and more rain monday.
Thanks for the brain bleach. I’m just sorry to have made that connection myself.
Actually, when I got home the house looked like the aftermath of “The Calico Cat and the Gingham Dog.” Don’t have time to look it up, but they have a fight and just leave bits of their stuffing behind, right?
I’d have sworn my 3 kittehs spent the afternoon pulling tufts of fur out of each other’s coats…clumps EVERYWHERE! Despite my best efforts to brush and prevent that…apparently I’ve just been loosening clumps – so considerable further brushing ensued this evening, following much bending and picking up, here, there and yonder. Sigh.
That 40 years thing… I’ve been dealing with that for a number of things in the last year or so…40 years since I first got married, forty years since we moved to Boston (I’d swear that was just the other day), forty plus since h.s. graduation…of course, last year it was, sigh, Woodstock…
Something about that “forty” – it just tells you you’re on the downside of “middle age,” I guess. But yeah, in my head it seems I’m always saying “Forty freakin’ years?? Forty years?????”
Something about a hit band member becoming a dentist, too….”Brucie, when are you going to drop this silly idea about being a musician and get a REAL job???”
Thx, mzchief: yeah, the kittehs have paid me more attention than usual tonight. Squeaky and Smokey discovered the “hidden” (behind a curtain behinda file cabinet) bedroom window onto the patio a week or so ago, and spend allll their time there, just coming out to eat. Then they wash up and go back.
Squeaky especially has been sweet tonight…currently on my lap, just finished licking off all the lotion that was on my arm.
Dayam, look at the time. Rumor has it that our regular schedules will be 7:30 to 4:30…I’m gonna miss LLN. Sigh. We’ll see if it really lasts 8 weeks.
So, signing off, good night, wishing sun for the PNW and peaceful sleep to all.
she’s never done anything like this before. the first time she did, it was when i got home after being gone while jen was having the baby. i left fri morning and got home sat nite. i found it sun as i was staggering towards the coffee pot. so glad i didn’t step on it…
I remember Glen Campbell remarking on his old show that he was mystified by how that We Five song’s last guitar cords were done. He said he found out it was with a two-arm guitar….
Probably won’t stick too long tonight. Strange program on Coast to Coast my SO wants for me to listen. Something about ancient ancestry and the breakdown of present day human activity.
Also, I just found out a favorite aunt of mine passed away Tuesday. I really wish I could go to Chicago and be with my extended family.
Now, with her passing, I am the patriarch of the extended family. Mostly that isn’t celebrated or acknowledged in current society. Mixed blessing!
I don’t know if You Tube has a clip of that. Wouldn’t even begin to know how to render a search to find it. I’ll have to leave that up to your expertise, Suzanne….
My daughter just adored Melanie’s songs. Jen was in her very early teens when I would be in the living room watching TV and she could be heard upstairs in her bedroom, headphones on, bellowing from upstairs Lay Down.
Melanie played Woodstock. I was disappointed when I purchased the Woodstock movie that her performance had been cut from the film….
That version I posted, by Helene Grimaud, is one of my favorites. We play it very similarly.
I have been thinking of writing an ending fro it at the intro point to the orchestra so as to make a complete little solo work of it. Pick up on the long trill at the end of the movement.
Lynyrd Skynyrd – That Smell … just driving by and waving hello.
hey mr why — nice driveby :) *waving back atcha*

Congrats on the gig.
Kittehs appreciate the attention I’m sure. :-)
oh lardy. bailey has taken to leaving a dead mouse in the doorway from the hall to the kitchen every time i stay away at night.
not sure if its an offering to the gawds to make sure i come back… or stay away…
hey mzchief — how’s your side of the coast range tonight?
That 40 years thing… I’ve been dealing with that for a number of things in the last year or so…40 years since I first got married, forty years since we moved to Boston (I’d swear that was just the other day), forty plus since h.s. graduation…of course, last year it was, sigh, Woodstock…

no kidding. my oldest refers to me as a 17 year old trapped in an old woman’s body. sometimes i admit, i do feel she’s right…
Movie Name: Queer as Folk (2000)

Today was nice made even better by a beautiful Hawai’ian style misty rainbow over Mt. Tabor today!
I am inclined to take a whole, uneaten mousey as a token of respect and appreciation from your kitteh.
LOL! Sometimes hard to tell.

Hah. I have similar thoughts…still can’t get over that old woman in the mirror.
Hey, what’s that sound? You can hear it here. And, you can read about it here.
Niters Tejanarusa.

Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…! I’m gagging on The Grey Lady’s Jill Abramson’s referral to MoDo as a source of her inspiration…! *gah*
Kewl– when are they coming to PDX?
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
Staggering toward the coffee … { LOL } Better that than in your slippers (well, I guess that’s all a matter of perspective).

Great song. (Ooops … >^,,^< )
Gorgeous summer weather. Tonight myself & The Sweety eating pizza and drinking root beer and watching a Godzilla marathon on Turner Classic Movies….
Not too shabby…! Mostly overcast all day, with the same on tap tomorrow…! ;-)
Good lord, I’m thinkin my Junior High years.
KYA Radio, 1260.
Tom Campbell DJ rentin out his red Sting ray.
Lord.
There was a place called Longshoreman’s Hall, back then, n the Bay Area.
Where this band, and many others in the early to mid 60′s, did their thangs.
Wow.
Hell of a catch Suz!
*G*
kind of a drag
hey larue — how’s sac tonight? makes ya think of strawberries and incense?
no green tea nor lemon cake?
itchycoo
Classic song and snazzy shirts.
Egg-sactly, M’dear…! ;-)
I only drink green tea and munch lemon cake alone. When watching dinosaur movies with The Sweety, it’s pizza & root beer on a hot night.

Slay me now.
;-)
Herman & his Hermits actually did an afternoon summer session at one of my country’s small amusement parks.
I remember standing with The Sweety & The Daughter (1994)off the bandstand, thinking I had never expected to see them in person in my lifetime….
So the tale of going from the big time to small time….
world without love
ain’t got nothin’
I don’t know if You Tube has a clip of that. Wouldn’t even begin to know how to render a search to find it. I’ll have to leave that up to your expertise, Suzanne….
I Know a Place
even when its expected, its still difficult….
Beverly Bivens n Wee 5 were so damned kewl back then it hurt.
You Were On My Mind is timeless.
NIce hit, dude.

Hi Suz
I’m back. Can’t sleep. Gotta an interview tomorrow to do extra work. I guess I’m excited.
I was gonna go . . . . ok, I AM gonna go.

She was quite the woman. Very calm in the midst of chaos.
She was a founding mother of the La Leche League, which started in Chicago.

You beat me to Peter & Gordon. How about Gerry & the Pacemakers?

I gotta say, Suz’s LLN crowd knows as much or as more than I do about the music she puts forth.
Tonight was an incredible run of old Brit Invasion and more,
The SF Bay Area Top 40 was insane to start with!
I love this town.
N now I gotta slumber, but what a great LLN this one was.
‘Thanks to all!
*G*

western union
Larue, I always thought until you posted this link that the song’s title was I Had Too Much To Drink Last Night, not Dream.
Wow, learning that truth after all these years makes staying up tonight very much more worth the while….
don’t you care
Out of the loop as usual.
But I maintain this visual of the Chopin Nocturne in e-flat, is a bit how I think of it in my head when I play it.
The louds, the softs, the high, the low.
This visualization is really close.
Master Jack
hey kelly — how ya doing tonight? this is my fav nocturne
lay down
I played that nocturne as well.
I took a bit of time here to play the opening piano part for the Ravel G major Piano Concerto, second movement.
Fits my mood.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Fpim9AanqI&feature=related
Smooch!
Well, Malinowski hasn’t animated that Grieg Nocturne yet, so I’m still viable! Weeee!
Just driving by – gotta go. Smooch again!
*smooches backatcha babe*
g’nite kelly
All I Really Want to Do
Trying to remember if I can include multiple links. Let’s try.
second version
Haven’t found a version by Dylan himself, so here’s a version you may not have heard.
wow dood — what contrasts!
Ahh, you caught my attention. I love that andante.
Do you play the 3rd movement? I can’t play the goddamned 3rds hand over hand for my life.
Bedtime. Goodnight all.

g’nite mr why
Gotta be kidding1
That version I posted, by Helene Grimaud, is one of my favorites. We play it very similarly.
I have been thinking of writing an ending fro it at the intro point to the orchestra so as to make a complete little solo work of it. Pick up on the long trill at the end of the movement.
