Jane Monheit and John Pizzarelli — They Can’t Take That Away From Me, from Legends Of Jazz.
What’s on your mind?
suz!
hey spur — how ya doing tonight?
not bad, and you? the weather here sucks, however
weather sucks here too. more clouds and rain — not supposed to have sunshine until this weekend — and the weather dood wants me to believe that we could hit 80. yeah. sure. right.
here it’s not even hitting 70, and rainy and windy. and it’s almost june! tired of it
was talking to the downstairs neighbor about how the cape looks more like march than the end of may. twas all wintery looking with dark swirling clouds while we were enjoying a very brief sunbreak
sounds dramatic! i think the jet stream has gone nuts and is bringing us a little bit of alaska
its a warm day if i hit 60 *sigh* weather dood said there is a low stalled off norcal and it is streaming all the yuck up from you guys. he also claims 80 this weekend so i’m all grain of salt now.
it’s streaming it down here too, but here it’s supposed to rain this weekend–and i really doubt it will be 80
the naysayers will still claim that there is no such thing as climate change but we see it changing before our eyes.
evening, Suzzz
really. i heard something about a la nina that suddenly ended (or something), which is screwing up the jet stream. (might have lost something in the translation)
hey ppd — how was your day?
Loved the piece; don’t understand the comments.
Hi, Suz, spur, et al.
Except for a little evening wind the weather was beautiful here by the beach in So Cal.
Spur: where you at? Back east? NY-ish? Lots of rain there this year. L-O-T-S.
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…! *g*
That’s a smoooth clip, Suz…! ;-)
sf bay area. (where it isn’t supposed to rain after april or so)
Nice to see you spurious! What’s up with you?
Hey Suz and PPD.
good, thanks Suzzz – back to work today
hey bobthecat — welcome to late late night — where the commenters determine the topic
how ya doing tonight?
hey bp — how ya doing tonight?
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? isn’t it lovely….
hey loohoo — how was your day?
thanks loo hoo. not much to report, and you?
Nice, huh? As is this.
musta felt good to return dood
Evenin’ everyone.
Suz has the lock on the weather. It’s been a weird weekend. One squall line went through one day, coming from the SW, moving up through WA and Idaho, then reversing and coming back from the NE and it hit us again the next day!
WTF!
Oh! It’s th HAARPIES!
i almost went with this one
Just loving being retired and wondering why anyone cares what the hell Palin is doing. We need to start a movement to NOT click links.
hey starbuck — how’s your side of the coast range tonight?
nice tune. didn’t know Geoffrey Rush played guitar…
my sentiments exactly.
hey pun — how ya doing tonight? tis from the ramsey lewis hosted legands of jazz pbs show (more info at the link in the post).
Busy, what with posting shooting photos and editing.
I hope mzchief shows tonight. I have some update stuff for him from an earlier thread.
hiya CT, LH
i sent her email re pdx to gw :)
crawling off to bed. nite all
Su-Zanne!
benny
g’nite spur
hey Suz. weird weather in the Bay Area.
shout-out to TSF on the masthead!
new-ton! how goes dood?
Great!
Got rain today, loving it. How’s the North?
Busy weekend with the family here for the service. We went to the ball game in Oakland yesterday with friends — tailgating party, etc.
got rain here today too. am sick of it.
oh a tailgate party! musta been nice to have had some fun ppd. how’s mom doing?
hiya newt
Bedbug!!!
Fading fast!
Suz, please send mzchief my e-mail as well.
Tks and good night.
Hey PPD, nice that you all got some relaxation at the game.
Hey, newt! Thanks for the command R info.
will do starbuck — g’nite
Loo Hoo!
I like an uncrowded icon bar at the top of my browsers, so Command-R is nice, since I always have two hands on the keys.
Aloha, PPD, LH, and, Newt…! ;-)
weather dood said its 4th coldest spring and 2nd wettest spring in pdx history going back through 71 years of record keeping. the other 3 cold springs were not close to being this wet
I’ve missed ya of late, newt…! ;-)
Hey Tut! Sadly, the above (Command-R) advise isn’t for PeeCee users…
Hi CTuttle. Still traveling the mountain for work?
Well, (feels around body and realizes that he is still corporeal), here I am!
chick
haven’t been to a ball game in years, & don’t get together with my brother very often, either. Mom’s doing surprisingly well — can’t stop talking about how wonderful the day with family was for her.
tis good news ppd — sounds like being with family was just what she (and the family) needed — along with some hotdogs and rooting for the home team — a day of fun after days of grief.
thanks, newt — I don’t follow pro sports much, but it was great getting together with my brother.
Well — what we’ve been through over the past two years, this was more relief than grief.
I like the Coliseum. Despite my rooting interest being across the straits, that’s a nice park. We used to BART over there all the time.
samba
i rooted for both teams… those bay bridge series, well, i figured either way i was going to be happy. my heart is with the giants since they were my first go to the ballgame team. the a’s were moved to oakland a few years after our family moved to the bay area (i think) and i’ve rooted for both teams since
same way i like both the raiders and the 9rs
It’s no SF pacbell park, newt but it has the BART advantage
Can’t do Raiders. Just can’t.
Hi all, can I send you the hot&humid we got in exchange for your chilly rain? It was such an abrupt change, I haven’t gotten used to it…
my first pro football game was raiders vs 9rs at candlestick
hey margot — yikes i’ll take the hot but ya gotta find someone else to take the humid. oy. how ya doing tonight?
I hate the Raiders almost as much as I hate the Evil Empire, FTFY…! ;-)
Btw, Suz, the latest descriptor is a ‘head of cauliflower’…!
Well, the good: wavy hair. Peonies are blooming sweetly. That’s about it:)
Always fun.
And, while I can’t do Raiders, I did see Stabler, Lamonica, Plunkett, Casper, Brown and Brown… and George Blanda play in Oakland. It was not all bitter. And Blanda may have been the most creative non-scrambling football player I have ever seen.
Evening all. Great song, Suzanne.
I’ve started my own song, “The Wheels On The Bus Go Round and Round”. Applied for a permit to hold an information, education and open-mike community discussion of the social program cuts being implemented in our state due to budget constraints; while looking at the corporations in our state that avoid paying their fair share of taxes. And please, can we do live music and refreshments. In a local park at the end of August.
It feels good.
head of califlower? wow, he’s getting big.. how many weeks is she now?
my peony is just now starting to get new growth buds leafing out. everything is at least a month behind :(
oh wow, i saw them after those prime days… wow, snake. was in the joe montana era i think when i saw the bay bridge game.
hey openhope — i’ve got my fingers and toes crossed for ya. how’s the sound tonight?
Mine, too. I’m kind of babying them.
hiya margot
27th week…! tick… tick… tick… ;-)
Outstanding, open…! *g*
my daffs (all 3 blooms – eyes rolling) finally had their flower heads dry up. i’m starting to see some new growth on my fuchsias and i’m really babying them. the peony is looking healthy but the fuhsias went totally dead looking this winter and i was worried they were dead.
Hi,Margot.
Yes please. Hot and humid sounds excellent. But, just a small side dish. :)
before ya know it, you will be in baby love
Helloooooo, Margot!
You know, they had 2 weekend dates open and I was thinking,”Shit, I didn’t ask CTuttle when his birthday was.”
Which date has the best juju………….
Hi, PPD, I’m glad you got to see a ballgame with your family.
Hi Newton, wow that was unexpected! Flood of memories from DC where we girls (4th or 5th grade) got together at recess the day after his show was on to talk about how cute Ricky was and the boys would sing the song in perfect harmony.
marcus
Nite all, take care.
hiya margot – I took my brother with some of my friends — there were 18 of us. Yankees played like a half a billion dollars, about equal to their annual aggregate payroll.
night, margot
g’nite margot
nite margot
*heh* I think Saturday the 27th would be a most fortuitous date…! The wee one is expected that day too…! Whee…! ;-)
Sweet dreams.
100…!
*heh* I’m good…! ;-)
babies only arrive on their due date 10% of the time iirc
happy lucky 100 tut!!!
Spocko and/or Kelly – if you’re here – A**hole, previous Salon guest (and favorite author of liars everywhere), and now famously your buddy, James Stewart is on Colbert tonight.
night all – be well
True…! But I like my odds…! ;-)
I’ve got the 20th if they accept the permit, which is a given. August 27th sounds like a long way away until you factor in how quickly time moves at our age. In my time world, you’re going to have a grandbaby next month!
How exciting.
oooooo i remember *that* book salon… dood was a total jerk
g’nite ppd
nite ppd
My son was one day late and it’s totally fucked me up his whole life. His due date was Sept.17 and I started having clues that labor was coming. His birthdate is the 18th. In my mind, his date is Sept.17th.
Talk about feeling inadequate on account of having to always do the math when someone asks you your child’s birthdate.
Yeah, well.
Sweet dreams, PPDCUS.
Aloha, PPD…!
Interestingly, my Grandson will be born in the same hospital as my Son…! ;-)
i’m so glad that i’m not the only one who screws up that kinda stuff. both my girls were born in the 4pm hour… jen at 4:53 and stephanie at 4:03… i have often reversed those times and the girls get so ticked at me.
jen’s 3rd wedding anniversary is today. i screwed up and called her yesterday — i knew it was the memorial day weekend but thought it was the actual memorial day.
Oh yeah. I was so happy that several commenters had the fortitude to out him as a questionable source on his own book salon. With facts.
wow tut, that’s generational. how cool!
*heh* At least he had the good sense to be a Virgo…! ;-)
Almost delivered by the same OB/Gyn Doc…! The better half and I, kept pushing her to see him… but, nooo…! ;-)
that’s something that has to be her choice dood — she’s gotta have a lotta faith and trust in her doc and the chemistry has to be right. i switched docs when i was 7 months along with stephanie cause the first doctor pissed me off with his condescending attitude about my role and desires.
No one appreciates the details that go into being a mother.
it was all so long ago *laughing* geez, its coming up on the 3rd anniversary of my move to oregon (august) and my life in california seems so distant and in the past
Agreed. Each woman must seek her own path if she’s lucky enough to have choices.
Another fucking issue that will be at the forefront this year.
*heh* Well, that truly is the definitive ‘Choice’ moment, ya’ll yammer about so much…! ;-)
never thought i would be fighting this battle all over again… geez, roe v wade was declared the law of the land the same year i graduated high school. and now the fuckers not only want to do away with roe, but they want to take away birth control and all reproductive choice.
I’ve simplified it, now that they’re older. I just issued the objective for them to sort through their childhood possessions because as adults, it’s their property now.
Launching lead balloon………..
*heh* i was surprised at how easy kaiser made it for me to change docs. i just walked up to the appt desk, said i wanted to change docs and why instead of making my next appt with dr jerk. the lady was ever so helpful :) i ended up with a great obgyn (her recommendation) and i stayed with for years until he retired.
They don’t want to take away reproductive health products and information. They have taken and are taking in massive swaths throughout the U.S. And the little bitches are letting ‘em do it to them. FUCK
Sucker…! They’re ‘adults’ now, damnit…! It is their ‘shit’…! ;-)
i made each the custodian of their baby stuff, pictures, etc a while back. jen thought it was great and has all her stuff. but i’ve still got some boxes of stephanie stuff both here and in the pod that she is going to have to take responsibility for at some point.
Isn’t it a bummer to have your beloved medical care provider RETIRE on you? I felt so old this year when my P.A. of 23 years folded up shop.
i retired two orthopedists with my knee… originally got hurt in 81
Yeah, but they have classic Playmobil. I’m sure it’s worth selling. They used to build whole towns with Playmobil because we designated a section of the living room to their passion… I loved it. Thank doG we lived in an old beach house that looked good in Playmobil. They had an ongoing saga because they didn’t have to put it away every night. We made “story boards”, painted plywood sheets that they could build on so they could slide around for cleaning or storing away[ during the few times we wanted a Grownup Living
room.
Plus, all the aunts and uncles LOVED to order from the Playmobil catalog as holiday gifts. It’s very fun.
Great times.
guess its about time for me to head out folks. thank you for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
g’nite all
Wowsers, you’ve been in agony that long…? 8-(
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
Oh, I’m so sorry. I have kneesles due to a short muscle that pulls the knee cap all wrong and has obliterated the cartilage.
Sweet dreams, Suzanne.
Goodnight, CTuttle.
Sweet dreams.
tomorrow is the beginning day of chicken harvest in the omnivore’s garden. oh,no………..
Delightful that girl can swing….
…in fact the band wasn’t swingin’ very hard till she piped in.
you might (if you haven’t already) listen to Anita O’day doing this tune, or any tune.
