so so. old friend passed away last week, and i just heard about it. two others of heart attack during the last 2 weeks. what is going on?

spring has finally sprung. today was the first time in 229 days that portland hit 70 degrees (or higher) for 3 days in a row — the last time that happened was way back in sept per the weather dood. of course, sprinkles are forecast for tomorrow and sun and it will probaby rain next week but its been nice to have some sunshine. the critters are both well and in their usual ‘spots’.

I’ve been having the same thoughts. I KNOW next year is going to be financially shittier than this year, unless my husband really does win the lottery.
And I know I’ll be 2 steps behind the money problems because I’ve been there before, when Neil/Barbara Bush ponzied the Savings and Loan industry. Thereby causing a regional crash that mirrors our national/global crash. So, I sense a pattern.
Plus, as I mentioned in TBogg’s post, I really like paying a monthly subscription fee. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy when I review my credit card bill. For no good reason :)

That’s what it did to me 2 hours ago when I was going to sign on. Our hi-speed provider is having problems right now, so I thought maybe it had to do with the email switchover we’re all being required to do. Rural living. Small business providers.
I wish our great nation would remember to support small businesses, local industries and vibrant communities.
Until then, we’re limping along on a small client base no Corporation is interested in providing for. “The numbers just don’t add up.”

Well, it’s funny about quitting. I really pretty much quit them for good about 5 years ago, but sometimes when I see an old friend of mine, about every 6 months, I’ll have a smoke with him. I always end up feeling like I want to wretch afterwards, but I just can’t keep myself from sharing a smoke with him. Ancient ritual I guess.

Hey Margot! I’ve never seen a caution like that here.

From what I’ve read about cholorine in tap water, it fluctuates because Fed regulations limit chlorine to something like monthly limits. So there could be no chlorine for 25 days and then suddenly they dump huge amounts in. They’re still under the cap, but on that particular day you could be drinking swimming pool water.

Yes, I’ve been on well water so I’m not up on public water like I was years ago. If you investigate the pipe systems there’s probably the answer to extreme bleach during off hours. We also need to get the fuck rid of flouride in our public water. Flouride compromises the pipes with it’s caustic nature. Imagine what it does on people in the myth that systemic flouride consumption leads to strong teeth.
There’s a fuckin’ windmill to battle.

Well, it’s been past 6:00pm on Saturday in Australia, Japan and eastern Asia for a few hours now and I still don’t see any headlines of people shooting skyward out of their shoes. None about flesh eating zombies either, though I expect it might take a bit longer for people to notice that.

QUITE well, that you, though I did have to send one of my workers home yesterday. Girl who works on the loading dock, barely out of high school and there she was on Thursday, working on bare concrete, around a four and a half foot drop, wearing strappy, open toed sandals with a five inch heel. I told her to start wearing closed, rubber soled shoes without a heel but sure enough on Friday, she was wearing heels again. I sent her home to change her shoes and she told me that (my predecessor) didn’t mind her wearing heels. I told her that I wasn’t (my predecessor) and if she came to work on Monday wearing heels, then she better stop off on Sunday and get a newspaper with job ads and look for an office job here she could wear them all she wanted. She went to the owner who backed me up and told her to just stay home the rest of the day, (without pay). Hate to be like that but where is her brain?
