Thanks, BT, and yes, yes, Paul I and II are crazy, and want to abolish things like FEMA so you can exercise your freedom to wash away and live in tents of your own.
Hague charges Gaddafi with war crimes. and Good luck with that, GOP. both go to the same place.
Gaddafey needs a right wing in control. When the wingers got control of the House, they stripped the Ethics Committee back to its position of not having enough members to do anything. DeLay can come back now. No one will be investigated under right wing control.
There’s speculation (idle?) that the IMF Chief may have been set up like Spitzer.
Hmmm… A Socialist with a chance of unseating Sarkozy being set up? What on earth makes you think that might be possible? /snark
Mornin’, BT, pups
Keep it up Tea-Regressives. Not gonna be long before the people of the US relegate you to the dustbin of history, right where you belong.
In other news, the Sahara is closing today after 58 years. I remember when it was controlled by the mob. Saw Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack there once. Meyer Lansky once said the only game you can beat the house at was blackjack. It usually paid for the weekends I spent in Vegas back in the day.
But I guess he still had to do something…
For some reason I just can’t see a real Socialist as head of the neoliberal IMF. These guys think Friedman’s economic theories are the cat’s meow.
another remarkable celebration of the day; today we exceed the debt ceiling, enjoy that thrill of rocketing downhill.
This is the wrinkle – on the left there is no C Street family covering up for straying members.
To keep that from happening Obama will turn over the WH to the Tea-Regressives’ blackmail.
Should I note that Vitter did not have much cover…;) No, probably shouldn’t.
They don’t need one in France. The French don’t have the puritanical drive the Americans have. Mistresses and sexual hijinks merit barely a whisper in the cafes.
Poor guy, a French Maid? Who could pass that test? /s
If she was French, that is.
Good luck this morning, Margaret. I think I can safely say we’re all pullin’ for ya.
Yes. It’s important to smile. Always. OK, almost always.
Hmmmm, lemme see now. Short, short black skirt and fishnet stockings. Oh, my.
Also, if asked, I wouldn’t mention FDL as one of my hobbies or interests.
Just kidding, good luck, Margaret.
Guy known as a “womanizer”/known affair with an subordinate. So?
NOTE: The link in the fourth bullet (Good Luck with that, GOP) goes to the article linked in the first bullet, about Gadaffi’s war crimes. Might wanna fix it.
Good morning, Pups. We had a frost warning last night. Summer was so last week (when it was in the 80s). But the sun is shining.
I’m about halfway through the Ensign report. Fascinating. “Slimeball” is too nice a word for him.
Indeed, great good vibes, you’re going to shine .. and make this chance work for you.
DSK is as much a Socialist as Obama is a progressive Democrat.
Good luck, Margaret. We’ll all be waiting to hear.
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
The French are more than willing to let their politicians have private lives.
SD, sadly that’s a given but we can expect a “moving” speech along the lines of another glorious “bipartisan” victory.
IF true, “assault” on the hotel worker not private.
Is today Margaret’s birthday? The little devil, she never said a thing yesterday.
Happy Your Day, Margaret.
Yeah, there’s a big difference.
Our paper had very critical article on his speech in El Paso….the usual chips to the Latinos while continuing very high deportation.
Son of a bitch is gonna bipartisan us right into banana republic territory.
And, if it’s he said/she said, I think we have to go with her.
I was not referring to a potential crime as the French would likely be more outraged of one of their elites committing a crime than the self-righteous U.S. public. The U.S. public is far more forgiving their elites whether it be torture, white collar crime, illegal wars etc..
Ooooops, My 29 was for Blue….sorry.
Good morning all.
ICE has been very active in SE Michigan. Their latest “coup” is starting the deportation process of a young high school honor student who was planning on attending the U. of M.. I’m sure the ICE “agents” are concerned with an awesome resume for a future run at political office. “Law and order” and all of that.
She mentioned last week on a thread that if she lands this job it would be a stellar birthday gift!
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.
US KIA Afghanistan: 1,573
US KIA Irak: 4,452
Iraki, Afghan and Pakistani casualties: estimates vary to over 1.5M

No war but class war
Never. Give. Up.
I wouldn’t think she would have an incentive to invent the story. It does sound plausible to me (from 700+ miles away).
Lift off without a hitch. Didn’t go outside to watch.
It’s hard to see anyone in the maid’s position making unverifiable charges. And fleeing the scene without his cellphone does make it look like a claim of innocence would be out of the question.
Money = incentive
Not sayin’ it’s so but it wouldn’t surprise me in this day and age.
Based on Ron Paul’s positions as stated on Fox News Sunday, his philosophy amounts to “what I think is right is right, and what I think is wrong is wrong; the Constitution, the Supreme Court, and everyone else can go to hell.”
I wonder when The Hague will charge Bush and Obama with war crimes, too. My guess is when pigs fly.
Indeed. That he still wants to tell women what they can do with their own uterus/uteri is the giveaway. Freedom for everyone except when it’s not his own conception (pun intended).
Does Obama get a pass because the Nobel committee preemptively pinned a peace prize on him?
My guess is it is a Sarkozy entrapment plot.
He should have to give his peace prize back and be forced to wear the Stone of Triumph
“There’s speculation (idle?) that the IMF Chief may have been set up like Spitzer”
I’ve been suspicious of the story. I’m just not sure if it’s an IMF thing or a France thing that would be the motivation.
“I wouldn’t think she would have an incentive to invent the story”
We’re talking about international politics here. There could be plenty of reasons to invent a story. It could be done to alter the BOP at the IMF, determine who becomes the next President of France, etc.
Let’s wait until we hear everything. Reuters is reporting that Strauss-Kahn had already checked out of the motel and then met his daughter at the time of the alleged assault per his lawyers:
Someone is lying, but I would think either way that material evidence would show who…if he checked out of his hotel and there’s a record of that, I think that would be pretty good evidence.
From the linked article:
He said Gaddafi’s forces attacked civilians in their homes, shot at demonstrators, shelled funeral processions and deployed snipers to kill people leaving mosques.
Considering Bush wasn’t charged I am guessing that bombing wedding parties is a saving grace that wipes the other stuff clean.
Concur besides the possible tie-in to US mortgage fraud_closure.
Check. A case to watch.
DSK is about as Socialist as Tony Blair was Labour, and he would have been just as bad for the French Left as Blair was for the British Left. I don’t think he was set up. He has a history.
The U.S. public is far more forgiving their elites whether it be torture, white collar crime, illegal wars etc..
or sexual harassment as long as it is done by a Republican.
The French understand human weakness, and have learned to live with it, unlike the Brits and the Americans. That understanding, however, does not extend to the kind of behavior DSK is charged with. He’s toast in France.
Summarized below, this article http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-goldman-sphex-20110515,0,7387307.story made me wonder if it is possible to change to logical decisions when the media will not help.
Barry Goldman is an arbitrator and mediator and the author of “The Science of Settlement: Ideas for Negotiators.” mocks in in an excellent article the ineffectiveness of instant check and gun shows where no gun laws apply to dealers selling from their “collection” – the flea market exception to gun laws. He also notes We continue to believe that business can regulate itself despited “Wall Street greedheads nearly blow up the world economy with their pointless, synthetic financial instruments, and we continue to believe that government regulation of financial markets would stifle innovation.” and that continue a pointless “war on drugs. After 40 years, untold billions of dollars and countless lives wasted in prison, it’s still easier for a teenager in Detroit to buy a bag of cocaine than a six-pack of beer”, and “We continue to believe — against all logic, all evidence and all experience — that giving money to the for-profit insurance industry is the way to provide healthcare for the poor and sick. There isn’t enough money in healthcare for not-for-profit institutions to make a go of it, but adding a layer of investors to skim off the top will make it work”, and “continue to believe in the fantasies of smart bombs, surgical strikes and limited wars” and that “a government funded by corporate lobbyists and dedicated to no higher principle than lower taxes is going to be a guardian of the public interest”.
Huck and now Trump chose media money over running for president – who could have predicted that result? /s
