Oh, by the way, Mr. Krugman, you might want to add to your rant that all of that money from Social Security that is going to pay benefits to Seniors was paid for by those very same seniors.

So when people like Mr. Boehner reject out of hand any increase in taxes, they are, in effect, declaring that they won’t preserve programs benefiting older Americans in anything like their current form. It’s just a matter of arithmetic.

Spot on Krugman. And it’s not bullshit Karl Rove arithmetic.

Too bad our POTUS can’t say as much to Mitch McConnell — as he postures on cutting spending (with no tax increases) as the price of raising the debt ceiling.

Mornin’, BT, pups

The Regressives don’t seem to have a problem with deferred compensation, as long as it’s for people like Cheney and Blankfein but Social Security for seniors or union pensions for those who worked for them all their lives, nope, those are giveaways to greedy workers and seniors.

For last forty years we’ve spent billions on killing sprees.

Compared to a family budget this is like the budget during the middle years of the baby boomers, We went overboard on expeditions in far off lands, the money for witch was no problem. We made a ton of money basically selling murder machinery. Like reagans MX missles that were built then scrapped for what gain? Bluster ? And every day we burn half the oil consumed in this country in the military. Do you feel safer now that we burned how many gallons for what yesterday and the day before that.

We’re like a coke addict buying more expensive fixes of security from the Magnificent Mindless ‘Merican Murder Machine until we find ourselves broke and in a relationship with military madman who are jonesing for the next”theater” to deploy their new killing toys we brought them.

Feels like a dark alley we’re in with these thugs and their enablers.

Sources tell CBS News popular New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has told Daniels he would back him, as would Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

Three words, Mitch:

Bush.

Budget.

Oh there’s a whole lot more to dislike about Mitch Daniels than “Bush Budget Director.” (I live in Indiana.) He pushes all of the far right stuff, union busting, school vouchers, privatizing the toll road.

He’s supposed to be moderate. He’s not.

Before the FL legislature went into session 2 months ago the local Tea Party spokesman was on my radio ballyhooing all the changes the legislature was gonna make. Some of the most egregious new legislation didn’t see the light of day and the Tea Party people have been noticeably silent in the week since the legislature adjourned. (P)rick Scott has, however, promised more reichwing bullshit next year. Methinks the Tea Party has shot its wad.

Is it just me or has anybody else noticed that when the price of a barrel of oil spikes, it’s passed on to the gasoline consumer within forty eight hours but when it starts coming down, it takes weeks and months to “trickle down” to us?

But there has been no doubt about the drop in the price of crude – which crashed by more than $20 last week to under $100 a barrel — including a stunning loss of $12 in a single session. That kind of drop hadn’t seen since 2008. Prices continued to slide this week amid daily price gyrations of up to 8.5 percent.

While the price at my local filling station is up almost five percent since last week… Between the suppliers and the refiners, (Koch) we get raped coming and going.

Good morning, all”

“Standards” … let’s see

The highest “standards” would be principles.

Which may hardly be said to apply to ANY political power “group” or “party” in this nation.

Then we move “down” slightly to ethics.

Nope, ain’t got none of them either.

And “values” is a loaded word becuz the “negative” side of such a concept is appealing.

And “qualms” or “shame” or “conscience” are, well, in a word, “quaint”.

So we is just down to “style”.

Which is where appearance, rather than substance, holds sway.

Appears to me that there is no substance and the whole house of cards is swaying verra ominously … which is just wunnerful for them what realizes that in confusion lies golden opportunity … especially if anything, and everything, “goes” …

Our time is just SO interesting, endless class war, the thrilling race to the bottom, the humanizing technology of drones, and the spectacle of the wealthy falling all over each other to outdo themselves doing Gawd’s “work”, even if they have to fib to Congress about it.

It’s all good, clean fun and devil take the hindmost.

BTW, who is the new devil, now that ole what’s-his-name done been vengefied?

The devil has got to have a name, just so we can identify the all evil being done and that somebody can make a fortune and gain unchecked power by standing agin it.

It’s all a question of standards, really, and if ya ain’t got any standards then there aren’t ANY questions … only certainty.

(You getting any nice weather down your way, SD? We get one or two days of sunshine and then about two weeks of rain, which gets the cats antsy and full of grumbles … the dog just gets wet, and people become sullen and complain about the weather …)

I do wonder what we would do without the change of seasons.

Of course, I also wonder what we’re all gonna do when planet earth and Mother Nature tire of our silliness.

Guess the answers are known by old Father Time.

(And those who never give up … for they realize that the future is a “sum” of understandings, of choices, of decisions, and of actions, which are not affected by the “seasons” of “style”, but are built of principled substance.)
