"Why does Mr. Banana Holder have his job?" (photo courtesy of Jim White)
Pouting Baby is talking to us again. — JW
You might remember that I talked about Mr. Banana Holder back in December. I asked why he wouldn’t do his job and prosecute Georgie B and the other people who tortured. It turns out that Mr. Banana Holder seems to do his job by not doing his job. Remember when the bankers nearly made everybody’s money disappear because they almost stole too much money? Well, Mr. Banana Holder never sent anyone to jail over that. And it’s pretty obvious that there won’t be any jail for the people who tried to kill the Gulf of Mexico. But today we have a really strong example of how Mr. Banana Holder won’t do his job.
Earlier this month, Little Johnny InSin quit his job in Washington because he was caught with his friend’s wife doing things he shouldn’t have been doing with her. In the letter saying he would quit, Little Johnny InSin said this:
I am gratified that, after extended investigations, both the Department of Justice and the Federal Election Commission saw no grounds on which to charge me with improper conduct.
But today, we learned that the people who worked with Little Johnny InSin say that he did break the law and they are asking Mr. Banana Holder to do something about it:

Why does Mr. Banana Holder have his job?
The Senate Ethics Committee announced Thursday that it has referred key findings of its case against former Sen. John Ensign to the Justice Department, laying the groundwork for possible prosecution of the Nevada Republican.
They said directly that Little Johnny InSin broke the law, even though Mr. Banana Holder had said that he didn’t:
The special counsel investigating the case “respectfully submits that there is substantial credible evidence which provides … cause for the Committee to conclude Senator Ensign violated Senate Rules and federal civil and criminal laws, and engaged in improper conduct,” a report concluded.
“The committee has reason to believe laws were broken,” said California Sen. Barbara Boxer, the Democratic co-chairwoman of the committee. “The Justice Department will look at it. They have to.”
Why does it take Senator Barbara B to tell Mr. Banana Holder to do his job? Why won’t he do his job the way he should? Why does Mr. Banana Holder even have his job if he won’t punish people who break the law?

Pouting Baby and Jim!
I have given up trying to figure out the legal philosophy of this administration. It seems to be one huge mass of contradictions with little coherent pattern.
Hiya, Doc. As I see it, they have the opinion that corporations, rich people and anyone even loosely affiliated with the GWOT cannot ever, under any circumstances, be held accountable for their actions.
C Streeter InSin getting poked and prodded by the Feds? Perish the thought!
Baby!
He’d be a multi-talented football player. Not only is he a Holder, but he’s either punted on prosecuting Bush administration figures and Wall Street banksters or fumbled their cases.
In any event, the guy is a $3,000 empty suit and Obama’s third-worst high-profile appointment after Gates and Geithner.
While that is generally true, it does not seem to always be the case.
Newt! (But not Newt the Grinch that Pouting Baby almost wrote about…)
He’s definitely a star…for the opposing team.
Well, except for Bernie Madoff. And even then, they were satisfied with just one sacrificial lamb.
Yup. Not much of a real prosecution or a very vigorous recovery of the stolen funds.
World record holder for own goals?
Because his boss want’s the DoJ doing selective prosecution, and he’s keeping the boss happy.
Be interesting how Holder says “been there, done that, nothing to see here”, when Special Councils investigation notes and charges hit his in basket. Same for the do nothing but collect pay checks FEC gets same.
Yeah, it’s pretty clear that not doing his job is exactly how Obama wants Holder to do his job.
An empty uniform. He looks great on a Topps football card, but don’t expect him to put up any stats.
Pouting Baby!
It’s because we’re looking forward, not back™ and nobody does that like Banana boy Holder.
This post is so funny it makes me cry.
Margaret! It’s hard to look back when you’re holding someone’s banana…
Pouting Baby doesn’t like crying.
Too bad. I think a little looking back and kicking the lawless bastards in the nuts might be more fun.
And better for democracy.
Hey Jim, I just have to chime in to tell you how much I like your Pouting Baby posts. Bravo, keep ‘em coming!
Very clear that Holder, like every AG in modern history is pursuing the political needs of the President, as opposed to pursuing justice.
Take a look at this chart and tell me the last time we had an effective AG:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Attorney_General#List_of_Attorneys_General
Do we have to go back to Bobby Kennedy, or do we give Richardson credit for resigning in the Saturday Night Massacre instead of firing Cox?
Obama knew what he was doing when he chose Holder, who can be counted on to acquiesce. Alberto Gonzales redux, Attorney General Housepet.
OOOOH. LOL. Er, ewwwwww.
Thanks!
I’d think Richardson deserves at least an honorable mention for that.
Pretty similar in their actions, or lack thereof, aren’t they?
You the tally man, truly.
Agreed. Pin a medal on that one.
I agree and would be willing to lend my foot and calf muscles to such a noble venture.
One wonders if Raj Rajaratram had been a white boy from Yale (One of Geitner’s BFFs) if he would have been prosecuted.
Or given a slap rather that the teeth.
If you are wondering if I’m making a racist point, the answer is YES.
The obvious difference is that Holder does a much better job fading into the background. Gonzales just couldn’t stop himself from being an asshole for all to see.
Yup. Only white male MOTU’s are immune from the law.
I don’t recall.
Wanna see an evil scam? Just got this in my inbox.
The “I.Q. test” consists of choosing between real or photoshopped pictures and at the end you have to agree to pay $9.99 to get it “scored”. I wrote them back and told them I wasn’t going to fall for it and asked if I’d passed the I.Q. test.
Bastards.
I just finished watching Fair Game, and it is distressing to realize how little has changed in the intervening years with a “Democrat” (scare quotes intentional) in the WH.
Think I will toddle off and call it an early night. I’m felling pretty beat up this week after grading 80 term papers, (most of)80 essay exams, two dissertation proposal defenses, a MA proposal, a Ph.D. dissertation defense, and 3 MA thesis in the past two weeks. One more MA thesis and 12 tests left tomorrow, along with recording and turning in all my grades and then I am done. Saturday I get to stand up in front of God, Tom Brokaw, and everyone and hood my first Ph.D. Then the semester is officially over.
EvilDr,
I don’t see Gonzales as much of an asshole (he lacks the cajones.)
He’s more like a mama’s boy, and W was his mama.
The $9.99 you still have says you passed the test.
Yep. But it’s evil what they’re doing and should be illegal. American capitalism sux ass.
Is this another one, Peggy? I seem to remember you describing the same thing a few days ago. It is amazing (but it shouldn’t be) how many scammers are out there.
On edit: I use an app called Gas Buddy on my iPhone, which finds the lowest gas prices in your area, reported by users. Twice in the last couple of days, a price way below the prevailing one has been identified. The first time I went there, only to discover it was bogus and the price was 15 cents/gallon higher (didn’t go far out of my way, but an area I don’t frequent). Today I saw another — didn’t go there, but I am suspicious that people are posting fake low prices just to drag people off to out-of-the-way locations as a form of scam. GRRR.
So out of the seven jobs I applied for today, at least one of them was a total waste of time.
Goodnight, Doc. Congrats on the first hood. My wife finished her semester already and is in the middle of a seminar trip to Australia and New Zealand while I keep the homefront operating.
Yep. Exactly the same. They are peppered throughout Craig’s List and there’s no way to tell the scammers from the real ads.
Bingo.
“Somebody, please, where’s a skirt I can hide behind?”
Night DrD. Sorry I missed you tonight.
George W. Bush, Mother Figure.
Would love to see W in a skirt, but I think that’s Giulani territory.
Now it’s going to take an extra two or three hours before I can fall asleep.
OK, time for me to fold my tent. See y’all on the flip.
Now that made me laugh.
Or, as the kids would say (text:) ROFLAO
Oh I don’t know. I think he looks quite fetching in his Nancy Reagan get up.
(brain bleach, stat!)
Oops. I owe you an email. Night Molly!
Therapy.Needed.Now.
Sure, it’s evil, but there weren’t any lampreys.
It’s obviously composed by someone whose native language isn’t English. Its style resembles all those phishing forgeries.
Goodnight. Thanks for stopping by.
Pretty phucking transparent alright.
Actually, I don’t think Gates is that bad. Kenny Boy Salazar, on the other hand? He’s definitely in the top 3 with Holder and Geithner.
Incoming molly if you’re still around.
Just like his boss.
Or more accurately, “not doing what the public is told is his job, but is in reality exactly what his owners want.”
Bannana Holder, lmao! That’s better than Place, good one!
Indeed.
And the URL looking seems to being for of phishing purpose.
(If you clicked it, the phisher may have snagged your IP and will sell it. It’s one of the ways they make money.)
Goodnight, folks. Thanks for the fun.
Pretty awesome, DrDick. Niters.
G’nite Jim and Pouting Baby.
Related, Taibbi’s got another must read article out.

Heck no I didn’t click it. Like I said, I passed the IQ test.
Night Jim!
Goodnight, Jim and Pouting Baby!
I guess Ensign’s parents forgot Barbara Boxer’s name when they sent out the invitations to the $96K party.
Night Pouting Baby! Keep up the whaaaaa…
What does Banana Holder have against former AL Governor Don Siegelman (D)? Ninety one former state Attorneys General said he didn’t commit a crime. Many of them say he was a political target of Karl Rove.
One of the first things Holder did was to drop charges against Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK). Curious …
I love you, PB
Obama and Holder know that job one is protecting the Democratic and Republican ruling elite. Just look at how they’ve shielded the Bush administration’s criminal gang of cut-throats from ever being made to answer for their crimes.
Excellent Post.Thank you for writing it. The photo of Holder branded is priceless. I also have over the past two years written numerous posts on Mr. Holder. I knew we were done for the day that President Obama announced his appointment of Holder. It absolutely was astounding. Really I had a hard time believing my own ears (of course, that was when I was still basking in the glow of hope).
It takes Barbara Boxer to tell Holder how to do his job because Holder is such a corporate suck-up sock monkey that he doesn’t realize that he is representing the American people–not Wall Street criminals. And no wonder since Mr. Holder has spent the entirety of his career getting Wall Street thugs off the hook for murder. Infidelity, lying, etc.–why those crimes are peanuts to a man with a history like Holders.
Here is an excerpt from one of my blogs about Holder:
Holder Gets Chiquita Brands executives off the hook for murder
Eric Holder, the man that Obama has appointed to be the Attorney General of the United States of America to uphold the law of our land is one and the same as the lawyer who successfully got Chiquita Brands International off the hook with a $25 million dollar fine to be paid over a period of 5 years. The officials of Chiquita Brands International pleaded guilty (they had to as there was a paper trail that included at least one cancelled check with the signature of the Chiquita official ) to paying right-wing military to kill unionists.
Holder also got Oxycontin executives off the hook for murder,
Holder got Purdue Pharma, manufacturers of Oxycontin off with a fine and a handslap in 2001. Finally in May 2007, the company and its three top executives pleaded guilty to federal charges of fraudulently marketing OxyContin by claiming it was less addictive, less subject to abuse, and less likely to cause withdrawal symptoms. Purdue and the three execs agreed to pay a fine of $634,515. Amazing isn’t it? Corporations continue to get off for literally committing murder by paying fines.
I don’t use Craig’s List anymore, too vermin ridden.
Mr Holder knows how to play ball. From his day under Ronald Reagan through the Clinton Administration to Dub-ya. The man is a survivor if nothing else. He owes President O a lot, for plucking him from obscurity where he was sliding on banana peels. If there was an ass kissing contest,he would probably win it by two short hairs. I guess “They also serve who sit and wait”.We all know that this Administration suffers from a blind spot.I do not mean the blind spot between the eyes. The blind spot of administrating justice. Maybe Mister O will give him something to chew or smoke on, beside the Cannabis out dated laws. His day is coming and I wish. When his day do come, one can only hope he want be prosecution The Father, Son or The Holy Spirit. I probably give him a joint and tell him to hang loose, because I don’t care a dam anymore.
You mentioned that earlier. What predators. A 5-minute IQ test, that will help sort the diamonds from the coal. Send that crap to your state attorney general and the BBB.
I knew you would.
“Winning the future” my friends. Time to move forward and not look back.
Dear Jim, when Obama larded his administration with all the Clinton retreads, we knew what was coming.
Now that he’s getting the Seal-bounce, he’s already got Maliki talking an extension of the SOFA, in Iraq. Implicit, is that if we can track down and kill Bin Laden, Al Sadr will be NO problem, if he makes the call for Shiites to hit the streets when Obama renegs on his promise to get our military out by the end of this year.
Incidentally, there’s a different kind of bounce, in Pakistan:
http://apnews.myway.com//article/20110513/D9N6I5PO1.html
Short of it: who hired Holder? :o)
It’s not hard to figure out this Administration if you realize that it’s a continuation of the same corporatist regime that seized power in America when Reagan, by perpetrating the illegal Iran-Contra scam, was elected.
In short: The rule of law is dying; the regime has no legal principles, whether under Bush the Dimmer or Corpobama. The law is simply a tool, a means to an end, and will readily be twisted beyond recognition (i.e.: Yoo’s claim that waterboarding is not torture, and that habeas corpus doesn’t mean the right to habeas corpus, and so on) if it suits the aims of the warmongers and corporatist criminal class. Corpobama has demonstrated fealty to the regime in every way possible, and is at least as egregious a scofflaw as Bushfool was.
So: Instead of looking for loyalty to law, look for loyalty to transnational capital and the imperium. Presto–no contradictions, because Corporbama has never done anything that interferes with the power of the oligarchy to continue their criminal activity unabated.
I don’t agree with the way AG Holder is running the DoJ but what’s up with the Racist nickname (Banana Holder)??? is this a clever way to call him a monkey? . . . Attack him on his actions, there’s plenty there to attack, but not by using racist nicknames.
Uhm, click the link on the first post about him. Holder represented Chiquita and got them off the hook for murder. He will forever be associated with representing such an awful organization. It’s a real stretch to say I’m being racist on this, and I’m not going to back off using his past against him. Try again.
I’m not saying you’re a racist, I’m saying the Nickname is. . . If Rush or any of the other right wingers had started to call AG Holder Banana Holder don’t you think the Left would say it’s racist? and even call them racists?
I do. . . I agree with the spirit of your article, just not the name calling.
Dear Jim White, I guess you shoulda said “Banana Republic Holder” instead. Which is pretty darn accurate to me. He’s holding us in place as a banana republic which I guess those that are pissing about calling him what he is being racist don’t understand even when they are starting to live in one.
And how about that it was a “targeted kill operation”-(capture my ass) and not an assassination-apparently he’s taking notes on how to get out of any legal wranglings. Truth and law be damned. Holder makes me squirm he’s so truthy.
