Quicksilver Messenger Service — Fresh Air, from the closing of the Fillmore West, July 4, 1971.
What’s on your mind?
Oy! It is Friday the 13th.
hey ce — ohmystars — double crap — at least its not february friday the 13th… that’s been a day that has historically brought me mega bad luck…. how ya doing tonight?
Suz, Spiffy track!
Hey Chris!
hey newton — glad ya liked it. how was your day?
We had a thunderstorm at 5:00 that shook the neighborhood. Reports of hail nearby but not here. Today the temps topped at 88!
newt — cheers!
yikes and woohoo!!! it was a pretty day today here but the wind was a’blowing a blow that had a nasty cold bite to it. i was content to stay inside and watch the eye candy through the windows. lotsa birds swooping around — wind didn’t seem to bother them at all
Ah, yes, Friday the 13th. I think I’ll collect all the black cats in the neighborhood and walk them under a ladder.
hey robert — how ya doing tonight?
Really — for the birds it is the season of love! Nothing stops them. I was walking back from lunch and passed by a long grate on the ground next to the building. There were two birds trapped below the metal grate. Marsha and I pulled a section up and a huge robin flew out. We couldn’t get the sparrow to come forward, and then had to replace the grate section as the construction guys saw what we were doing…and were upset.
Pouting Baby was exceptionally well presented tonight. LateNightFDL pressure on that fraidy cat Holder….
i wonder how they got in there…. i hope the construction crew realized the why of what you were doing and got the sparrow out
Love, love Pouting Baby.
We could not figure that out, as the openings on top were too small to exit. A real mystery.
Rewarding, ty. I had a handful of jobs today, and they all went very well.
Tomorrow, I’m going to hide inside, watch reruns.
i lost my intertubes around 3 hours ago and was offline for a while. when i got back, he had just left. i sure like the pouting baby posts on thursday night — and the pressure on the target of pb’s ire…
Kentucky Thunder.
any particular reruns?
hey thatguy — how was your day?
I hope the weekend is clear enough to plant some flowers and perhaps start lettuce. I need Mother Nature to cheer us with a bit of sun. Maybe some movies at the cheap show too?
i’m planning my spring cleaning… ok, to be honest, i’m trying to talk myself into starting it and figure to do lists help guilt me into starting
Prime Suspect.
Woman’s killin me, just killin me.
Not only does she go QMS all over it, she hits one of the few DIno Valenti vids in existence.
I won’t go into QNS wiki stuff, but I know their history start to now better n I know Fleetwood Mac. N I actually saw QMS a number of times.
First time was age 13, neighbor’s son was 17, took a few of us off the block up to College Of San Mateo (’67?). In the BB gym. Only time I ever saw them do Gold N Silver. Saw them with Dino twice after he got out of jail, once at Fillmore Auditorium, once at Playland (Chet Helms Family Dog gig).
Both times with full horn section (Tower Of Power Horns), Dino, Gary Duncan had come back, John Cippiolina was there, Freidberg on bass, Elmore on drums. N back up sangers, too.
That woulda been ’68 or ’69 at the latest, I forget without checking sources.
Damn.
Suz, yer killin me, don’t ever stop. I may need to do a Let’s Pick on QMS . . . yet another diversion from the grassin.
*G*
Bless ya, darlin . . . :-)
Roped me in again, Josey! lol
This week’s New Yorker has a drawing of OBL with his face rubbed out by a pink eraser. Very fitting. Inside are a number of very interesting articles about him, dead and alive.
Prime Suspect — one of our favorites!
that’s a pbs show? i don’t think i’ve watched it. currently, my fav is the doc martin series airing on my pbs up here. i’ve seen they are on utubes (in case i miss an episode or two)
Spring cleaning is all done at The Robert’s house, and the lawn mowed. The Sweety is content….finally….
hey larue — glad ya liked it. its from the closing of fillmore west — which is a dvd out of that 1972 show..
how’s sac tonight?
OK, getting more loose ends tied up.
Delbert with Mike Farris
hiya Suzzz – that QSM tune rocks
Someone (clears throat) gave me the whole series on DVD.
If someday I have to sell my collection, these will not be among them. Great television.
Yes!
yay! i can’t start spring cleaning when it feels like its winter outside. now that i’m starting to get some sunshine instead of storms and its starting to warm up, i will be able to open all the doors and windows and give the place a good airing out — always step one of my spring cleaning ritual.
Prime Suspect — wonderful!
Got to see that band a few years back at a fest. Simply incredible. Wall of sound grassin style.
Great vid, thanks!
mike has such a great voice!
hey ppd — glad ya liked it. how was your day?
i feel that way about my lost dvd’s.
Good, thanks — family visited this week from across the country to say what they wanted to say to Dad. They’re returning home tomorrow.
Whoops, that’s not Ricky Scaggs N Kentucky Thunder!
‘Them I saw, these cats I barely know . . . . they don’t pick as hot as Scaggs boys do, he has the finest 4 gits in Nashville in his band.
This is rock n blues . . . fine sure but it ain’t pickin, ;-)
hiya CE
tis good they were able to come. what are you doing for you during all this?
Excellent.
And for me, “Brideshead Revisited.” Sigh, love them.
Sac’s good . . . kewl temps, hella unusual . . . lovin it.
Garden’s growin time to post some pics at MyFDL.
You?
I love that show.
It’s not supposed to be. The guitarists are SERVING THE SONG. It’s not all about shredding.
Hiya! How’s everything?
lost was some of the best i’ve ever seen. add in the gorgeous eye candy scenery (filmed in hawaii) and the smoke monster and polar bears — well, it made me think and i had to pay attention. i respect that most of all about the show.
Allus loves me some Delbert, you turned me onto Mike Ferris, I never heard of him! N turns out, he DID play Strawberry Music Fest out here two times middle 00′s and I’ve seen him!! Before you posted him!
‘Good job, TG! *G*
I took my two fellow schleparones on a tour of the coast road from Marina to Carmel Valley this afternoon while our early bird specials took their naps — extraordinary, sparkling sunny day.
just now starting to warm up but still a very cool and wet spring. hopefully the la nina effect is fading away and things get back to ‘normal’ spring
hey margot — how was your day?
We’re OK — but getting close for Dad.
Hiya margot
yay! the coast in springtime is magnificent
There is nothing better than devoted fans — we all have our favs and we are sticking to them! My latest favorite was Downton Abbey. Swoon!
PG’s magic carpet is bloomin’ south of Lovers Point, Suzzz
didja take any pictures?
Good night friends — I have to wake up in 6 hours. See you Friday/Saturday in the dark hours.
I never said nutin about shreddin, hoss, that’s you.
*G*
But there’s a huge difference from your Kentucky Thunder to the one I know of. That is all I’m sayin.
N of course, I’m partial to the acoustic side of life . . . . the pickin, I’ve never thought of it as ‘shredding’ per se as an abuse of the music, them gits, all gits at that level, know how to serve the song.
You don’t make money in this biz if ya can’t serve the song.
N I know you know that . . . I just caught a minor glitch about the vid . . .
*G*
night CE – be well
g’nite ce
Hey Suz, my area of Ohio was pretty much what CE said. Warm day, then thunder.
My cousins took pictures with their phones — I did the driving.
hiya PPD
your beagle still chasing rabbits in the yard or has she tired of that?
woohoo! pictures of the carpet of flowers is always a good thing
more from the closing cold blood
I’ll have to learn how to post photos here — then put some up.
Then that weather must be on its way to my little tea party part of the world….
ya upload them to flicker or one of those other free photosharing sites and then all ya have to do is link to the page that has the photo you want to share in the comments. pretty easy peasy
She likes to lie in the grass and watch the kids next door play. I haven’t seen any baby bunnies racing across the yard in a few days, come to think of it…
OK time for me to sleep, hugs all
g’nite margot
sounds easy — when I have time, I’ll check it out.
night margot
time for sleep – night all, be well
if you want to share them in myfdl diaries the myfdl about us page says:
g’nite ppd

hey openhope — how ya been? glad ya like it — those were the days, eh
I’ve been workin’ like a serf, baby!
working for the man
Wow, what a band!! Thank you, I needed a strong song by strong women on a beautiful day. :]
Lamb.

Oh yeah, saw It’s A Beautiful Day many times. Another great live band.
carlos
one of my favs from that time. wish i wudda been able to see them.
more qsm from closing fillmore aint that a shame
Fillmore? I’d rather be at the Ryman
the ryman.. what a great venue…. danny does a great job with that tune too
Evening pups.
This Google 2084 thing cracked me up today.
hey sunny — how ya doing tonight?
OMG i had not seen that!
We have seen into the future, and we are thoroughly Googled….
He better, since he wrote it! He’s bought two houses with that song.
“Artificial intelligence would be the ultimate version of Google. So we have the ultimate search engine that would understand everything on the Web. It would understand exactly what you wanted, and it would give you the right thing. That’s obviously artificial intelligence, to be able to answer any question, basically, because almost everything is on the Web, right? We’re nowhere near doing that now. However, we can get incrementally closer to that, and that is basically what we work on. And that’s tremendously interesting from an intellectual standpoint.”__Larry Page,(October 28, 2000)

Was posted at scroogle today. I *love* scroogle.
Made the mistake of reading the local paper today. We’ve got two voter suppression measures wending their way along ….. one is official picture ID, the other cuts one week off the early voting period. Feh!
So sorry, know I shouldn’t be here.
But just HAD to jump in and say (AGAIN) that Suz always has the BEST links.
LOL, it’s kinda funny though that a former cop would have links to such “head music.” Er. Ahmm. I meant, it’s kinda neat that a former law enforcement person would have links to music that might be considered by some as “outside the norm” for most Americans.
Really. That’s what I meant.
Sure do miss you guys.
happy lucky 100 sunny!!!
hey ofguy — good to see ya dood — how ya been? i always had the regular radio on low in my patrol car — heard a lotta good tunes in my 24 years at the dept.
Damn dirty hippies!
eek… prolly won’t take ’til ’84.
deadheads even
I’m still weirded out when I roam around the internets and ads pop up for stuff I bought on line, even in my little bity city….
Oh my… couldn’t have done that if I were trying.
i only hit it cause i’m trying to avoid
the forkerit.Yes, I can confirm that. Cause I WAS trying. *g*
Oh man, I thought I was feeling my age in the garden and the chicken coops. Now I know why! I’m fuckin’ old.
An interesting time to be young in.
Google knows when you been sleeping
Google knows when you’re awake
Google knows when you been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake….
its been a while since ya snagged one dood… you were so forking close
Not on point, but I’m crazed by the self congratulatory BP messages re: the gulf cleanup. Shameless.
Greed never admits guilt, and it is shameless….
Sorry. I’ll share my winnings.
When Will the Greed Stop?
With all due respect, Ted Kennedy questioning when the greed will stop is too ironic for me tonight. Ted was Ted.
its a shame
LOL, no need to be sorry or share anything. Was just pointing out that you indeed did do that without trying. Which makes it even more special, IMO.
But if you insist on sharing winnings, I could send you my personal bank account…….
:)
Time to curl up and watch a movie. I’m all out of good TV shows to watch on Netflix. My antidote in life.
Fan of Breaking Bad, Torchwood, Brotherhood, Sons Of Anarchy, John Adams, small dose Doc Martin, Monarch of the Glenn…
Anybody have a recommendation?
Sweet dreams, all.
Ted is dead, and those who in the senate professing to still carry his banner for the middle class and working poor are? Wait, right, there isn’t anyone carrying that banner….
if ya like doc martin, try ladies of letters… g’nite openhope
The check is in the mail…
I listened to that, and as a long time (grew up in a union family) Democrat my first thought was “Wasn’t it great when Democrats actually sounded like Democrats?”
But then I remembered 2008. When, IMO, one BHO sounded like a real New Deal Democrat, and I couldn’t WAIT to vote for him. Boy was I wrong. Again. Or still.
Point is, shouldn’t we judge them on their actions more than their speeches???
i know i’m at the actions not speeches stage…
Well, imo Ted carried the banner of Oligarchy and Corporate. He waved the flag of We The People in his other hand.
He was a better man than most in the arena. But the arena is a circus designed to enthrall the masses.
Ted was no Health Care saint.
Goodnight. Sorry to leave on the last word. :]
Ugh, just realized it was 3:00 AM. Wow. Hate these nights when sleep is hard to come by.
Hope ALL of you good folks here will forgive me for posting tonight, AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, have a great night and/or morning (depending on where you’re from). ALL of you folks here are special and worthy of that, IMO.
Good night(morning) all.
Namaste.
nothing to forgive dood — g’nite ofguy
’bout time for me to turn into a pumpkin myself. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
g’nite all
Sweet dreams… OFG :-)
Nite suz. Thanks *poof*
Who is that on lead? It sure isn’t John Cippolina.
