Asylum Street Spankers — Harp Rumble.
What’s on your mind?
hey ce — how’s ohio tonight?
Oh, so warm and sunny today. We lunched in the botanical garden, in a sea of yellow tulips. I had a book group reading The Swan Thieves in the afternoon.
i woke up to rain — a cold rain at that. finally stopped and cleared around dinner time but dang, the temps dropping quickly out there. lunching in a botanical garden *swoon*
Hello, Chris! Your day sounds like here. Brilliant, perfect Spring. Cept for the tulips.
newt! how’s the west bay tonight?
We are so lucky, it is just steps away from the office. Let me look for a link…
Howdy Ho Suz – and Hi All
howdy ho kelly — how ya doing tonight?
So wonderful, the Botanical Garden of Cleveland.
We have had our wet period, so we wait until November for the few showers we get.
Kisses and hello! (French buss and strong handshake).
Hiya, pups. Beautiful day in Wasilla. Clearing winter debris, getting ready to plant, getting ready to conduct Peter and the Wolf and 1812 (and other stuff) this weekend in Anchorage. Shannyn Moore is going to narrate Peter. I initially wanted to do the piece with a new narration – Sarah and the Wolves (with Helicopter sounds written in) – but Shannyn wanted to do it straight. So we will.
ohmystars — what eye candy!!!
got to be at the fdl webinar today that I heard so many people talk at,
fun, never did that before — it’s easy on this end: plug and play and push a few buttons and wait at the right times. Couldn’t be simpler really.
i don’t miss those dry days of summer down there. we get occasional rain during the summer and that helps keep things lush and green
Started of with a bang last night – THUNDERSTORMS! Then rain, all night, all day, including now.
Kinda nice actually…
hey ks — they are really easy! how ya doing tonight?
Eh, bien! Ca va bien, mon cher?
Pretty swell, yes? Marsha and I walk over every day for lunch. The food is organic based and wonderful.
yikes! hard heavy rain?
we’re having boomers here tonight
and I’m well, yourself Suzanne?
Oui! I am pretty wonderful. I’ve done four public programs in three weeks, including Egypt’s Vivant-Denon, Roberts and Beato. Today, I did a book group for The Swan Thieves. Did you read this?
i saw western ks has tornado warning earlier today….
Ain’t a hard rain falling! :)
It’s a Chopin rain.
This may appear to be a shameless promo of a diary I wrote, but no, it’s rather a public service announcement, to alert everyone to a great program on PBS on Monday. Excellent FDL book salon to follow on May 29.
ooooo so soft and pretty
Non! Swan Thieves? Tell more. Link?
Aloha, Suz and LLN pups…! Paradise has been mighty dreary of late…! I might’ve seen ten minutes of rays today…! 8-(
hey mauimom — how’s your island tonight? shameless promo of myfdl diaries are always welcome at lln (scurrying over to read)
aloha tut — ya gotta have off days, even in paradise, so that ya appreciate it even more :) how ya doing tonight?
ooooo i saw an ad for this coming to my pbs station monday night. thanks mauimom
they get the excitement out west, we get the boomers and patter ;-)
that’s alright , If we get steady rain for the next few weeks, harvest is already looking late for the wheat;
unlike the other side of Missouri, I know: they got floods so big out there, dayamn!
I don’t read fiction unless I’m pressed into a book group, which I was here. That said, I liked this book and loved the letters from the 19th century love affair.
Wow, that’s beautiful CE!! Hi everyone. I’ve lost my refresh button and don’t know where to find it. ;(. Macbook Air. Newt???
I’m actually back in DC at the moment, so it’s quite late for me. I roused myself out of bed to let everyone know about the Freedom Riders program & book salon.
So many sacrifices for FDL!!!
Four months after the Federal Communications Commission approved a hotly contested merger of Comcast and NBC Universal, one of the commissioners who voted for the deal said on Wednesday that she would soon join Comcast’s Washington lobbying office. Meredith Attwell Baker, a former Commerce Department official who worked on telecommunications issues in George W. Bush’s administration, announced that she would leave the F.C.C. when her term expires at the end of June. At Comcast, she will serve as senior vice president for government affairs for NBC Universal, which Comcast acquired in January.
~~~ModNote: You got some balls, Lady.~~~
hey loohoo…. how ya doing tonight? did you just upgrade to firefox 4.0?
Hey Loo Hoo!
I have been so looking forward to watching Freedom Riders.
how long are you going to be in dc this time?
Oh Loo Hoo,
The refresh button has to be there…it looks like a blue arrow circle…
Aloha, MM…! I’m looking forward to that Salon…!
I know you’ll rawk as the hostess…! ;-)
thx Mauimom, i Know I’ll check it out
hey robert — how ya doing tonight?
The promotional materials I got from the publisher said the on-line site would stream the film, but when I visited there, I didn’t see it. Perhaps it’s being delayed until the film actually runs. Don’t know, but hope.
It’s really a wonderful reminder of courage during scary, violent times. Something from which I feel we can all draw inspiration.
Hey all. Drive by. I’ve been having some fun tonight getting ready for doctor tomorrow. If all goes well it will be 5 years before I get this particular joy again.
so i’ve been told… taint my first time at the rodeo yanno :)
‘Til Sunday. Got to spend Mothers’ Day with both kids. Heaven.
hey wmd — yuck — but the not for another 5 years is a plus (sorta)… i would ask how you are doing but…
*snoopy happy dance*
the minor waltz
This is actually a reissue of a book the author put out in 2006. About 18 months ago, I saw an exhibit based on it at the Skirball Center in LA: original pictures of individual Freedom Riders, with a small story of who each was, then a current picture and write-up of what had happened to them over the past 50 years. Just amazing.
I’m off to dreamland, but my thoughts are with you. See you, darling!
Gotta love my mom for this one. She survived two bouts of cancer, I got to start getting checked at 45. I will say the prep is not as bad with current medication, no cramping to speak of – just a lot of sitting around stinking.
Okay, I am toddling off to bed.
fingers and toes crossed ya get an all clear and you dont have to worry about that one for a while
wake and bake
And you are so right–we can all learn something about real courage by watching this documentary. I just watch a PBS doc about the music of the civil rights era the other night. Did you know We Shall Overcome was originally a labor/union movement song written by a white dude?
Me too. No symptoms that could indicate problem, and outside of family history no risk factors.
Thanks, newt! This has been driving me crazy. Let me try this command R.
Sounds really important.
my baby’s in the cia
Alternatively, you could use the modifier ‘fn’ (at the lower-left of your keyboard), and strike F-5.
But I prefer, and am regimented to, Command-R.
Black Person allowed to read poem at WH despite everything!
Jon Stewart really took FOX to task over their shit about this tonight….
Saw that! And Command R is working, newt. Thanks so much. I still wonder where my refresh button went, though!
yay! it airs here on the left coast in a few minutes…. am looking forward to it
I missed Olberman on Letterman tonight. Was watching Colbert and forgot Keith was on. When I remembered and changed channel, Chaz Bono was being interviewed by Dave….
controversial rapper Common, teehee!
you’d think Palin would be afraid of her own shadow — oh wait!
Any peeps remember a vampire soap opera called Dark Shadows?
oh my, jon stewart is fucking taking them to town…. the johnny cash comparison is brilliant!
I do, came on after Quincy and the news once, somewhere as reruns
was it a soapopera? I saw them as vignettes, like twilight zone
Turner Classic Movies is running the Dark Shadows movie made back then at 3AM est….
sweet, thanks robert… i remember when it was on at 4pm as the after the teens got home from school sorta soap opera — iirc, it was on abc
The Sweety, when she was a young girl, had to sneak to a neighbor’s to watch Dark Shadows. Her parents wouldn’t let her watch it….
T. Graham Brown on the juke.
my mom considered it to be the equivalent of a soap oriented at teens… and no big deal. my friends used to come over to watch it — the rule was household chores had to be done before tv so my friends helped me do mine so their access wasn’t interrupted.
hey thatguy — how ya doing tonight?
OK, trying to get prepared to be a working stiff again. Not much music playing this week.
The Sweety wanted to name our newborn daughter Angelique. We settled for Jennifer….
your new job starts next week right?
my first is a jennifer — when i named her that in 1977, it was considered an old fashioned name that wasn’t real popular. i thought it would be unique — she had 5 jennifers in her kindergarten class
I talked The Sweety out of naming our daughter Angelique by telling her that, if we had a son, we’d have to name him Barnabus….
Can’t find the article I just read rebutting the Atlantic article on Palin. Said the pic gave her a halo! It’s true.
woohoo! are you having to readjust your body clock or are you one of them natural early risers?
I remember that picture….
happy lucky 100 robert!!!
Missed it. What sort of a job did you get?
up is down >shakes head numbly<
Newsweek cover of Palin with a halo:
I want double presents for doing tuttle’s job of saving Suzanne….
Gory cake congrats!
appreciate it dood
ooooo i like that loohoo
Looks like me and The Sweety when I showed up late (after celebrating most of the night with my buds)for our wedding….
HA!! Glad you liked it Suz. Guess there’s a market for everything! People are so clever, it’s amazing.
there are those creative cake shows on food network and tlc — folks really like the eye candy before the yummy
You amaze me! How do you find all these strange/cool vids?
Doing web work for a medium-size tech company in SillyValley.
mark fiore on dragging in some of this week’s crazy
i spend a lotta time in the utubes looking for videos to feature up top…. a lotta time…
I’m a natural early-riser, but I’ve been having a terrible time going to sleep at night.
Romance de la fleur
Stewart on Common.
i worked so many night shifts that i find it very hard to get to sleep at a decent hour. i always longed to get back to swing shift when i was on days… and those 2 3 year tours up in detectives were rough. my inner clock is set to go to sleep around 3 or 4am and get up sometime around the crack of noon
hey nahant — how ya doing tonight?
Well congratulations! It’s been a long time coming.
Well we’re the winners for all of your work. Thanks.
Waiting for Keith on Letterman… sure don’t want to miss that!
aw thanks loohoo. its a lotta fun doing the search for just the right video and i stumble upon some great stuff — many times i end up down a completely different path than the one i started on
I missed Olberman on Letterman. Hope I can find a clip of the interview on the internets….
letterman puts his shows online….
’bout time for me to head out folks. thank you for letting me hang out with ya tonight
Jon Stewart was definitely on tonight, Loo Hoo
and am glad nahant remembred the LoC nat’l jukebox: I’m really excited about that myself!
